Is it possible to get FM radio on froyo roms?
From what I understand most of 2.1 fm related stuff is binary and/or on the kernel.. any way to get port it to froyo now that the source is out?
Eclair source is out, not FroYo one. In addition, all FroYo ROMs out there are N1 ports, and the N1 lacks the FM radio.

Gee, missed that!
personally I dont think anyones going to put the effort to getting the FM radio working at the moment, not when they can wait a week or so and just lift it from the HTC offical 2.2 update that's supposed to be coming.

do you expect official Android 2.2 for Desire in one week ?
I would rather expect in one month or so ...
I used to listen a lot to FM radio, but considering how awful the htc desire is at getting any fm signal, i'm barely using this feature at all so i'm not sure we'll get guys to port the fm tuner feature to froyo, appart from htc, eventually...
And as radio-over-3G-internet is a freaking damn nuisance cutting off every 5min or so because of poor/no 3G signal, I've actually had to stop listening to radio all together on my daily trips to work, and that is sad
If the Desire gets FM radio like most devices, then to get any signal you'll probably have to plug headphones/earphones into it. Most portable FM radios use the cable of the earphones as the antenna

or AOSP
Acronym for: "Android Open Source Project",
instead of "Android Source Open Project"
I'm also interested in a FM Radio app, but it's quite difficult searching with the word radio.
Does an FM Radio app exist?
No not for stock froyo roms. We all can wish but it wont happen any time soon.

Maybe its the FroYo we've been waiting for...
http://www.androidguys.com/2010/04/14/rumor-nexus-major-ota-update/
If all goes well in the coming days to update the firmware for the Nexus One should be offered for download from Google. This major update brings more than 3 large compared to the current version:
- Better memory management with a new version of the Linux kernel to operate in short, all the device memory which is not the case today
- Fixed problem of MultiTouch when fingers are too close
- Activating the FM radio feature of the camera!
In short, that's good for the Nexus One. All that remains now to be hoped that it is officially distributed among us.

That got me scratching my head too.

Do realize it says this my friend:
"4. No source = FAIL"
Yeah, so don't expect anything.
Uhhh... I am pretty sure Froyo won't be ready for several months still.
Either way the big things I'm excited for is the support of animated gifs and the ability to upload from the browser. Woot
My rooted Eris is running 2.1. I seem to have the known bluetooth stack issues that prevent proper bluetooth operation with some apps that use SSP protocol (ie, OBDII engine analyzers). Is there a ROM build I can load that is known to correct this problem?
Thanks
Joe
try froyo worked for me
Thanks for the reply.
I was considering Froyo, but concerned whether the Eris version is stable enough yet. Any comments?

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you are using a Sense based ROM. If so, the reason your Bluetooth SSP doesn't work correctly is because HTC designed Eclair Sense that way. Apparently, the full Android BT stack interfered with Sense somehow, so they neutered it.
Any AOSP ROM will "fix" the Bluetooth "issue." I personally recommend CELB 2.7 or the latest build of KaosFroyo.

I agree with this gentleman. CELB 2.7 and Kaos FroYo are the fastest builds for starters(my signature shows my average Linpack scores for both), they are AOSP so they run a bit smaller, and they are both built with CyanogenMod.
AND THERE IS AN OBDII SCANNER FOR ANDROID!?!?!?!?!?!?!? [email protected]?#?#[email protected]

Hi, I searched a lot for a simple fm radio but couldn't find any. anyone could help? thanks in advence

This one is Cheap & Simple.
Perfect for you!
umm am looking for an Android fm radio
FM Radio is just available at Sense ROMs like the officials and BlaYo's (i guess it has it) ROMs.
Cyanogen based ROMs don't have a FM radio. You have to reverse engineer some parts to make it available.
Sent from my Legend using XDA App
yeah I have cyanogen mod, but I didn't get what u meant by reverse engineer, am still new with android and only know a bit
If you don't understand it you have to use a sense rom. It's impossible for someone who doesn't even know how to code to reverse engineer the FM radio
Sent from my Legend using XDA App
ok thanks
Why dont do as I do? I bought sony wh-600 bluetooth, it got fm-radio. It also sounds better with mp3s than the legend do.

As of December 6 2010, Cyanogen 6.1 stable, there is native FM Radio Support, from the chage log;
"•N1/Bravo/Incredible/Supersonic/Vision/Ace: FM Radio support - MIUI - http://miui.com (graphics from Fitsnugly, HaXzAmaTiC, and blunden - bugfixes and extra features from Cyanogen, Zinx, mtwebster, and Wysie))"

Read it completly and not just one Sentence. The Changelog has some device specific things inside...
I know this has been posted in the Captivate forums, but I was wondering if any Fascinate devs had messed with it?
http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/28/android-2-3-2-gingerbread-leaks-for-samsung-galaxy-s/
Doesn't really apply to the Fascinate since the i9000 is GSM.

It still has the same absolutely everything else hardware wise minus a hard-disabled (but still present) FM radio tuner, right? That's got to count for *something!*
There's no source in the leak, so no, it doesn't help much at all.
Kaos mentioned in his thread in the dev section that he may be able to use some libraries from this leak, but otherwise is not expecting any major breakthroughs.

There are a few things different besides the cell radio and fm radio. Either way, it's enough differences to prevent it from working.

im sure its better that the leak is out there than not...as was mentioned kaos/others may gleam a few things from it...
but much like the dozens of froyo leaks for all the other galaxy s variants over the months (including cdma) it wont be turned into a rom compatible with this phone
still it does show that samsung is actively working on gb for its touchwiz-based phones...so those that plan on keeping this phone for the 2 years that they might be tied into a contract *might* be in luck...in spring 2012 with a 2.3 ota
the rest of us that move on to whatever superphone comes out this summer/fall will have to put our hopes on a developing kaoscinate or whatever

Guys why is a simple feature like FM radio not supported by default in all of the builds ??
I would hate going back to android 2.3 just to get one feature and lose 50 others !!
So why doesn't FM radio work with 4.0 ,4.0.1, 4.2.2, Roms on the Mighty HTC HD2 :good:
Any body knows a how to on making it work then please share it with us
i got two words for you.

Because most of the CM devs consider it un-interesting.
And Google kills any FM stuff in AOSP, and the chip specs are secret, so it takes a LOT of work.
