Hi.
I would appreciate it if some one could make a bluetooth hack that can make G1 share files between mobile phones i am even willing to pay for it.
It is very annoying that i can't share stuff between friends.
If it is impossible then please let me know.
Thanks.
It will be part of the upcoming update, so doubt anyone is going to try and write software to do it.

Hell, just having all the BT functionality of almost any phone on the market would be great!
My Motorola BT earphones are getting dusty and it makes me sad
I messed with the cupcake add to the sdk emulator and I didn't see any changes to BT......

I had tried the cupcake not the JF but the 1.5 firmware cupcake i had got from somewhere on my G1 still dint find any video recording and bluetooth functionality also it had no telephony stuff but the browser had touch keypad + no multi touch, no auto-rotate...
just it has touch keypad improvement if this is what they have made still now they have to work a lot n it would delay the cupcake update...

Well the so called cupcake Update with the features u r on about has not been released yet so the only question to be asked is "why would u install some thing u don't know where came from"?
But most likely it's proberly just a minor update from cupcake and has nothing to do with the one every one is talking about "i doubt u would be the only one to have the real update".
And what goes for the touchpad is proberly just one of the many apps from the market with touchpad funktion.
But then again i could be wrong.
i have actually given up on google/T-mob ever releasing cupcake- i am now relying on independant developers to enhance this phone. too many rumours and too many disappointments..... same with paid apps from the market....
Without A2DP it will never be my one and only phone- i use A2DP in the gym and hate wired headphones..... until then my trinity will not be retired.....

For what it's worth, google delivered on their cupcake promise. They said they would merge their internal development branch into the public git by mid-January. They actually did it at the end of December. That's pretty good if you ask me.
The whole "t-mobile will release a cupcake update" thing is just rumor and speculation.
As to the paid apps in the market, I'm confident it will be coming out soon, possibly very soon, for better or for worse.
I wouldn't expect anything from the cupcake branch for a few months at least (although that's purely speculation on my part )

A2DP is my biggest issue. I listen to music while I work. replaced my 2 year old phone that had A2DP capability for the G1 not knowing it didn't support this. Don't get me wrong I LOVE this phone and with my new extended battery this thing does it all....well everything but my beautiful music while I work....Sobs!

Where did the speculation that cupcake would be released Q1 2009 come from? Did someone make this up?
Q1 is what google has been saying or rather the developers that work at google have been saying. Q1 would be sometime from Jan 1 - March 31.

Any word on when this will come to the N1?
The Desire has it today and in my book is the largest plus for the Desire when comparing it to the N1. I could care less about Sense UI, actually.
Edit: Actually the Desire doesn't have it, so I am just foaming at the mouth, it seems. Still, it would be a nice update.

Not the solution I am looking for. As it is in alpha that's not a good day to day ROM, even according to the developer. It introduces bugs I am not willing to live with (blue tooth, camera, etc) and like I said, I really don't want the Sense UI. Maybe once the ROM is fully functional and past the alpha stage I'll give it a try if I can disable Sense and still get what I want.
I think the solution for the N1 involves a kernel update and is not something Adobe can just "release". The Nexus One was supposed to be getting updates faster than anyone else (since they are coming from the Android source itself - Google) but in this case, that's clearly not so.
So my original question remains - does anyone know anything about when the N1 will get an update including Adobe Flash Lite?

I think here, the release is dependent more so on adobe, and not on google, seeing as they are the developers.

It doesn't appear that way, since HTC has released it on the Desire. It looks like Google is dragging it's feet on an N1 update. Are you suggesting that HTC has some exclusive agreement with Adobe? That would be a first.
Does the Desire even have Flash 10.1? I thought it had HTC's flash lite 4.0, and we were all still waiting for 10.1? Please correct me if I am wrong, but running the shipping version of Desire on my N1, and I am not experiencing flash 10.1... I am experiencing flash lite 4.0, though.

Correct.
The OP's "Adobe Flash Lite 10.1" makes no sense.
There is Flash Lite 4

No combination of the two.

If the Desire doesn't have Flash 10.1, then what functionality am I gaining in exchange for reliable bluetooth and a properly functioning camera?
If these items have been corrected, then perhaps post #2 of the Desire rom threads need to be updated.
Lucky Nexus One bustards
As owners for X10, are we eligible for this update??
-----------------------------
Google is also celebrating today - Android 2.2 Froyo has reached two important milestones. Google open sourced the latest version and they are pushing out the final Froyo update to Nexus One users. And we're sure the timing has nothing to do with the launch of the iPhone 4.
Sure, Froyo has been available to Nexus One users for a while (mostly on dev phones and through manual updates), but this seems to be the final, official version of Android 2.2. You could manually download the update from here (it works only if you're running FRF50 firmware), though if you don't know what you're doing, you should wait for the OTA update.
Your Nexus One should automatically check for updates or you could force a check (go to Settings -> About phone -> System updates), so one way or another you should be getting a notification that a new version is available and download it Over-the-Air.
Some people are reporting that the update is not available for them yet, so it might not work right away - rolling out updates is a gradual process and it varies by location too.
The other important milestone for Android 2.2 Froyo is that Google open-sourced the code to their partners and manufacturers and everyone else too. This means that they can start working on Froyo firmwares for the non-Google phones.
------------------------------------------
Can we have official feedback from SE guys?

The way I see it with Android devices is that you buy the hardware and then hack the software to hell and back. Just didn't count on the X10 being so hard to mod when I got it, guess I'm too used to HTC phones.

Thought as much. From the posts on other threads it seems as though posters think root and ROM will appear simultaneously.
I can imagine that the first ROMs we'll get our hands on will have all sorts of bugs, and we'll have to compromise on things like WiFi, Bluetooth e.t.c. Maybe due to lack of drivers available.
I'm going on past experience from The G1 and old WinMo devices.
Oh well.......
Remember to be realistic, guys. The devs can't just copy and paste Froyo onto our X10s without a hitch. It will take some time. I'm not even anticipating a stable version of Froyo on the X10 because it is a huge task.
What I'd like to see is the latest FW but stripped down with no branding or operator software (and no Moxier crap!!!). And if it's possible, for Flash to be released on the X10. That may not be feasible but I certainly hope it's available. SE takes forever!!

Doubt it. They might have to change the user manual if they do upgrade to the TW 3.0 and that takes time to publish.
However, Samsung/Sprint's user manual are not thorough. So they could purposely leave out these additional "features" and put them on an updated PDF file user manual on their website.

nope. it is 2.5. the app dock at the bottom cannot be changed. home screen cannot be moved or removed. music is similar to the stock android player which is very basic. no equalizer in the music player. it is definitely not 3.0. not sure y they did not add all those features. i dont understand why it costs $250 as the only extra thing is the keyboard, led flash and vga cam. rest all features are either similar or lesser than what is provided in captivate and vibrant which are available on amazon now for $49 and $0.01 respectively. $250 is simply ridiculous.

Also your forgetting the multicolor notification light, and once again AMAZON is selling those other phones for $49.99 and $.01. What do you think amazon will sell the EPIC 4G for? I guarantee you it won't be $250 unless the phone is consistently sold out. Wait til a month after the epic 4g has been out like how the vibrant and captivate have been and then see what it is going for on amazon. If I go to the carrier websites they still want $200 for the phones. You are being completely unfair in your comparisons.

I would think it's a matter of both Sprint and Samsung deciding the specs. The reasons for axing it could come down to cost of development, bugs, etc., too.
IIRC, there was a case of a phone sharing some of the same hardware as the N1; the N1 had FM radio and the other did not. Modders found that they had the chipset for radio and were able to add it. Similar events have happened with phones that are wireless N capable but were not released with software that enabled it.
Either way, I'm pretty confident modders will get FM radio working on the Epic.
Is anyone else worried about Bell - notorious for their service - SGS will receive froyo really late or may not even get one?
I e-mailed samsung and got this result.
Hello,
The Froyo update needs to be approved by Bell. As you know, the update is not available yet.
Now I am doubly worried.
What does everyone think?
We are virtually receiving no news what so ever
and we only had one firmware upgrade so far from Bell......
The stock Bell firmware is really good though, why do we need update after update? One update is plenty. Bell won't hold the froyo update long on their flagship Android phone, especially when competing with the Captivate and Desire. If they're really slow, you can just flash the international one.

i can say we are the luckiest of all the Galaxy S releases
we got the least problems, and the phone pretty much worked great, almost perfect out of the box
the only thing i'm looking forward in Froyo is:
- the Apps to External SD feature
- the support for BT mouse and keyboard
- build in Screen capture (currently using ShootMe)
that's all, as the phone is working so good, there is little to wish for,
...well perhaps if they give away $1 million US for each firmware upgrade, then i'll be looking forward to it
They BETTER NOT hold back on froyo for us or I will be going to the Bell Tower here in Edmonton and shoving this $500.00 phone up some Bell Corporate executives A$$!!!
I did NOT spend $500.00 on this phone to be crippled by Bell and not be able to upgrade to froyo (or beyond) because Bell dosent want to approve it. Whats not to approve? Its pretty simple and straight forward to me...
It's not that Bell isn't approving it, there is nothing for them to approve, Samsung hasn't finished the ROM yet. Samsung just gave their canned response.

@AllGamer, I just looked on the Market for Chrome to Phone and all I see is a few "fake" Chrome browsers... No actual "Chrome to Phone". I searched it word for word and got nothing. Where did you see this?

http://www.appbrain.com/app/google-chrome-to-phone/com.google.android.apps.chrometophone
it's not part of Froyo, it's a individual App
but a few topic above they put it as part of a Froyo feature which is not

@AllGamer, This is a copied and pasted coment from one of the users on appbrain... 2.2 only?! WHYYYYYYY?"
This is only for use with froyo and we are still on 2.1. Can you confirm that this is working on 2.1?
that's what i said on my previous message
it needs 2.2 to run, but it's not part of froyo
there are 3 good apps i want to install when we get 2.2
flash 10.1
Network Stats per App
and Chrome to phone

My apologies. I must have misunderstood your post. Yes... These would be nice apps to have but I am mostly interested in Apps2SD which will be nice for keeping the phone as clean as possible. Also... I find the Skyfire browser does an nice job of flash movies / vids. Will the 10.1 Flash app really make that much of a difference?

Again... What is the difference between the flash 10.1 app and just using Skyfire?
Skyfire does flash great but only insid skyfire
you still need flash 10.1 if you have Other Apps that requires flash to run properly, i came across a few of those, forgot the name, as i uninstalled them as soon as they asked for newer version of flash which as this point we can't install because we are on 2.1
