Hi folks. Well i'm VERY stuck with this one. After having a Diamond and a Kaiser, i thought there'd be no changes of significance in this side of things but, seems i may be missing something.
Basically when someone sends me a MMS, the thing takes a damn AGE for it to get to me... example... last one clocked up over twenty MINUTES. The main problem to my knowledge is due to the fact the alert doesn't sound til it's completed it's download, i'm unaware it's doing anything at all so after that, the REAL issue would be... it won't auto disconnect afterwards. What do i need to do cus at this rate, my bill is gonna be a real New Year sickener
Help guys! Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
Thanks, DX
P.S. If this one has been mentioned previously then i apologise in advance.

HELLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPP!!! LOL
Ok... as of 10.32am this morning, not felt well yadda yadda... woke up and low and behold, what did i see? Yep...
Data Connection still on and running for over 4 HOURS... no mms received, obviously not been surfing in my sleep... again (lol) so why? Why would it wake itself up and lock onto Data?
This is getting more and more bizzare by the day. Time to talk to HTC and see what they say i think.
Update later on #2

Orange Official Standpoint...
After having a chap call me back today about 4 o'clock or so...
Microsoft are SUPPOSEDLY going to be sending out authorisiation for Orange to give out ROM Updates for this phone.
From what i could make of his comments, it seems this is a well known issue with the HD and they seem to have had a LOT of complaints regarding the issue.
More info when i get it from 12 ish tomorrow lunchtime... stand by for another fob off story i'm thinking! lol

A GPRS connection doesn't necessarily cost you money while it's connected; only if it's downloading/uploading something.
If your phone is connecting to GPRS and downloading the MMS content and then sitting idle then it shouldn't be costing anything unless your phone is also checking emails or synchronising your weather.
Example: on my old Touch (Elf) I chose to check for emails every fifteen minutes. The phone was permanently connected to GPRS but my monthly Orange bill for data was only around two or three quid.
Hope this helps.
SiliconS is right. Your GPRS connection should only cost you money when data is being transferred. In some cases (depending on your package with provider) you might have a minimum cost each time you connect.
For example, in my case, I pay 2.4 cents for every 100KB downloaded (other providers charge per 10 KB or per 20 KB or whatever). So, if I connect and only download 2 KB (for example to update weather) then that costs me 2.4 cents. If I disconnect and then connect again an hour later to update weather again, then I pay another 2.4 cents. Total cost for the day = 4.8 cents. I'm keeping the numbers low and simple here.
You get the picture now, right? If I stay connected all day long, I could update the weather 50 times throughout the day and that would cost me (assuming each update transfers 2KB) only 2.4 cents for those 100KB.
Again, that is just my situation, but I wanted to illustrate how your costs really depend on your data package.
On that note, here is a funny story. I watched a youtube video the other day and I didn't realize the thing was 17 MB large. The HD downloaded it and buffered it really fast - started playing within 8 seconds with smooth playback all throughout. I was happy and impressed until I saw that the 4 minute video cost me over 4 Euros to watch!!! Ouch. That wasn't worth it. Anyway, that's not the HD's fault - it performed beautifully. But now I'm not too quick to launch that youtube app.
I also wanted to say that receiving MMS also takes FOREVER on my HD. I have only been sent one MMS so far, and the person attached a photo to it. The HD tried several times to download it and after 5 minutes or so, it gave me an error that it could not synchronize the message. I gave up on it after several tries.
My friend later sent me the picture taken with her mobile phone via email to my PC. I saw that the photo was 800 KB large. Was THAT the problem - that she tried sending an 800KB photo via MMS? I don't know what the limit is there, but it seems a bit large for MMS. However, I assume that her sony ericsson would adapt the picture she took before sending it via MMS.
Is anyone else having problems with MMS?
And when receiving an mms, my phone tried to connect via HSDPA. Does that mean that receiving an mms costs me money too? Sorry - I'm a bit ignorant with mms because I never use it.

But I have heard it's an energy drainer to have the dataconnection connected all the time albeit non-active. If I remember correctly there's a tweak in one of the apps (HD/Advanced/Diamond) for disconnecting after an x number of minutes disuse.
I could not pull any multimedia texts while on wifi. After contacting t-mobile I found out that there is currently a bug that they are aware of. You cannot pulll mms messages while on wifi. You must be on a data service in order to pull them. They are working with HTC to fix this problem.

That happened to me the first day I got the phone. I thought it was a sim card error. It never even occurred to me that I had wifi connected until you just said that now...
i think this was a bug on one of the earlier builds of my g1, like way back in the beginning
I was wondering if any of you have heard any news on this issue. Or maybe a work around besides turning off WiFi. It is so frustrating . I had this same issue with a Blackberry 8900 a while back.
I've had this same problem since I got my phone. I guess we just have to wait for Froyo and hopefully that fixes it
So it seems more like that its a tmobile thing because my wifes cliq was doing this, since we dont have data turned on with her phone and i just bought the slide and its probably the same thing...but i just try to send a pic on wifi from her slide and my nexus and neither work
Any fix for the mms issue yet?
Is anyone finding Froyo to have fixed the problem? Any workarounds? Just wondering as this is a major problem with this awesome phone. Can't send ANY MMS messages at all!
I can im always on wifi not always but like 95 percent

You can not send or receive mms over WiFi it has to be pulled from the apn and you can only pull from there when you have a data plan it is a way to keep people from using phone without data plan this applies to all Android phones

Hello,
Yesterday I received my new Nexus 4 and after inserting the sim card (cut by myself with scissors) started receiving a notification saying "Sign in to network" and below that the name of my carrier (movistar Nicaragua). When I click on the notification, the browser opens and tries to load the url (I can't post the url because of forum restrictions, i am a new user) . After a while, the browser redirects me to my network operator web page. I cannot use data apps like Whatsapp in the meantime. I didn't have this issue with the same SIM card on my previous phone (HTC One S).
Is anybody having the same issues? I am on stock 4.2.1 unrooted
I guess your service provider needs you to log on to some GATEWAY !?
Like in wifi networks it happens sometimes ... and it asks to enter username and password of your account !
I have this same issue. on Net10. any updates on this?
Get a real micro sim. Don't use a cut down one.
Man, I’m from Honduras, using tigo, that’s not an issue of your phone, it’s a carrier issue, you should go to movistar and make them fix it, it is like something is blocking your internet connection, they put some restrains on it so that you have to pay for some extra connection.
I have a regular T-Mo micro sim and it's happened to me a few times. I just restart my phone.
My phone showed that twice today, never happened since having the nexus 4 since December..I'm in the U.S. on Tmobile

Hey guys, i just have the same problem here.
It has been 10days till now
currently using galaxy s4, android 4.2.2, from Indonesia (carrier's : XL Axiata)
Does anyone know how to fix this problem ??
It will very helpful to me, cause i'm very annoyed of this notification
this notification (Sign into Network) pop up nearly 10 times a day.
I have several times contacted the carrier (XL) and the samsung centre too, but both didn't know what is the problem.
Thank you.
Hi. First of all this is my first post here.
The same problem as above post.
And then i try to do something. I went to phone type * #*#info#*#* and turn on the ims registration and no notification pop out anymore.
But. I noticed mobile data is very slow after that.
So i just return it to default "off"
Still looking for a clue. Anybody have the answer?

I have a cut Sim too. When I first got my phone, it asked me to sign in, but I didn't have an account with my carrier other than my billing account. Over a period of time the notification went away and everything is working fine.
Edit: try switching mobile data ports and on and do a phone restart. This stopped the notification.

I got my xperia Z since April, I got the same notification twice since last week
I also got a second signal bar.. I took some screenshots
I started getting this on my nexus 5 recently. I had reached my monthly fair usage limit so I went to settings -> data usage and moved the usage warning bar up a couple 100mb and that stopped the warning notification.
Experiencing this as well.

FWIW, I had it for about a week on ATT prepaid, though this was because I had zero available data left. Once I added more to my account, data started working and it stopped asking me to sign in. I think it just automatically displays that when it can't get a data connection.

I have the same problem. It make notification at the time u linked to mobile data too, and i can't suffer it any more.So i have searched all internet and have no progress. But i found the way to block its notifications rather than voiding generation.
It's a notification generated from "Android System" and seems like a network-check function. So the problem have the mobile carrier's part(I'm in china, you know). And u can't block all notifications of "Android System" using tools like LBE or Gravitybox or anyothers cause it is useful all the time.
This Xposed Mod can help us: NotifyClean, it is the only tool to block several notifications u want of one app.
Use it in ur rooted system with xposed framework, and open it from xposed. It can log all notifications and u can tick the "Sign in to network"s in "Android System".
Hey guys. Been using this nexus 4 for ages. I've lived in Minneapolis and San Diego and encountered this issue in both cities.
Every few months, my texting app will tell me it cannot receive MMS messages. So I restart my phone, call at&t, etc do all the necessary steps and it eventually just goes away on its own. The issue is that even when the phone says 'cannot receive', I do receive some MMS messages but some I just dont. Usually it seems to be group chat related but can confirm sometimes i do not receive photos. Today i got the error again using a group chat and I just received a picture from a different friend (who is on AT&T like me). Are there issues between carriers with group chat or something?
I gave up on MMS a long time ago, too many fails and at a cost. I use whatsapp now for images, it's only a very small price for the licence, but it's already paid for itself many times over. Of course there are other alternatives.

Sadly its become apparent that something is wrong with my Yota 2, when losing the network signal when out in the sticks it will not reconnect mobile data when I'm back within decent network coverage, the voice and SMS work okay but the mobile data doesn't, even if i get full signal bars. Toggling Bluetooth and mobile data make no difference. The only cure is to turn the phone off an on then it fine until the next time.
I've checked my 3 UK APN settings and they are all as expected.
I've contacted yota support an they want me to send it to their service partner (premiere eurocom ) I have to send it at my expense and wait their diagnosis.....but I'm not sure how yota will be billed for this.
Has anyone else experienced the problem?
I'll try a factory reset before I send it, just in case...
Sent from my YD201 using XDA Free mobile app
I didn't encounter such problems so far. I was a bit worried a few days ago, as my Yotaphone kept losing the GSM connection entirely (I was back to the PIN code input screen multiple times every day), but then it also did happen on my good old Ericsson t39m, so I suspect it was more an issue with the local GSM network.
Can you try with another SIM card (maybe even another carrier) to see if this happens regardless of the carrier?
Did you change something (apps, settings...) on your phone recently? I'm asking just in case, you certainly thought about that already, so don't get offended by such a basic question!
No worries.....Thanks for the input, what network are you on?
I tried a factory reset and that didn't make any difference, that should eliminate any fiddling or dodgy apps too, I tried the Sim back in my HTC One and it behaved perfectly in there, upon returning it to the Yotaphone I lost data comm twice in a matter of hours only reaquiring after turning the device off and on. I also double checked the Three UK apn settings and they are as they should be. I could try another network as nano sim are few and far between!
I've now returned it at my own expense (Thanks Yotaphone!) To their repair partner Premiere Eurocomm, I'm not sure what will happen now as for all I know it will pass their testing in their repair labs, I'm hoping they will just send a new device .

Update......
I received a new phone under warranty, I set it all up and sadly exactly the same problem occurred. (Passing through an area of poor or no network service, the mobile data (3g or LTE) will not reconnect until the device is switched off and on again)
I now believe this is an incompatibility between Three UKs mobile data network and The Yotaphone firmware/hardware.
To crudely test this I bought a Vodafone payg sim and carried both my phones with me and these are my findings
HTC One M7 & Three UK sim......no problems.
HTC One M7 & Vodafone sim.....no problems.
Yotaphone 2 & Vodafone sim.......no problems.
Yotaphone 2 & Three UK sim....fails to reconnect.
So my options no seem to be;
Try for a refund on the device.
Change network to Vodafone.
Wait for a fix from Yota.
So I'll call the support line later today and see what they say. Could any UK users let me know what network you are on and if you have any similar problems please?

Sorry for the delayed answer...
I'm using the Orange (France) network at home without any particular issue, the troubles only happen (so far) when I'm traveling abroad, which I frequently do for work.
I'll try to list more precisely which carriers are subject to network connection issues, although it's not easy to see which carrier you're roaming with (on my old Ericsson phone, the carrier name is displayed prominently on the screen, whereas you've got to dig in the menus on an Android phone to get the carrier's name...
Okay so I called yota support an updated them and as expected they just blamed Three, so only after asking for a refund did the agent pass the problem onto Yota for more technical help, I won't hold my breath waiting for contact but if nothing by the end of next week then I will be insisting on a refund. kind of spoiled my fun this has
Sent from my YD201 using XDA Free mobile app
It would be a shame if they don't seize the opportunity to further dig into the subject and find out the technical cause. After all, they aim at a worldwide distribution of the Yotaphone 2, don't they? And it'd be a shame to see you go, too...
An update.....
I've not heard anything from Yota support but have made progress myself, I discovered in the mobile networks settings that you can select your network manually rather than automatic, by doing this two options for Three appear in the list, Three and Three UK.
I selected Three UK and since doing that the problem has not happened at all over three days of using the phone, including passing through the areas of no network coverage that would trigger the problem.
I'm hoping this is fixed.
Footnote: whilst sorting this problem I've been using my HTC One that has had its lollipop update and I'm loving the lollipop, can't wait to get it on the Yota

Any more updates? Got my phone today and got the same problem.
I got Tele 2 in Sweden and it wont connect to 4G. It will get 3G connection but very weak signal and it will disconnect and reconnect atleast once each 5 minutes.
I did also set network in manual mode and it works better but not as to expect from a phone.
Im also going to try with another carrier but im kinda locked to my current one...
On a side note, I've had twice an issue with SMS and the YotaPhone 2.
I've received the same message over and over about 50 times, usually separated by a minute, but sometimes the message shows up again only after a couple of hours...
Not a big deal, but annoying nonetheless. I suspect that the local phone network (in Congo) is to blame, but I'd be curious to know if this has already happened to anyone else, as my other phone(s) do not display such behavior. I usually have the "Welcome to XXX network" SMS repeated a couple of times, too, in those situations, though usually not more than three or four times.

I'm having exactly the same problem, I've had my phone for three days and it already happened twice. Putting the phone on airplane mode does not solve it; I have to restart the phone. I only lose data connectivity, but I get signal and I can call just fine. Btw, I'm using the YD206 version with Jazztel in Spain.
I'll try now with the manual network selection and ser if the problem dissapears.

Hello,
I have more or less the same problem ... but with no real solutions
After upgrading MM I lost the LTE signal but not all the time.
When I start my phone I have the LTE signal with good bandwith and good quality of reception.
After some time (5min, 15min, ... no really logic) or every time after driving with my car and I expect changing Emettor many time, I loose the data. I have no more LTE, H+, 3G etc... no more data and I loose a lot of quality of signal like my "modem" lost a lot of range of signal available.
I Flash and reflash MM and no solution.
When selection manually the operator, it change Nothing for me
When I change APN with a new one (2 APN are available for data (for french people SLSFR and WEBSFR)) the data is coming back but just few time.
When I come back the the first APN, data is not coming back until restarting the phone.
I have a third APN but with only 3G connection and with this one, I have no problem. Data is always available...
Really Strange. The problem is only due to LTE signal
For this moment, I will try with Lolipop if the problem don't occur anymore.

Hi Benetnath,
I find no issue with SFR.
I spoke with the customer service and they don't find any problem on the network.
I read a lot of forum and it seems that the problem is not only on Yotaphone but on lot of quite "old" phone.
They change some parameter on the network (what, I don't know, is it regarding the fact that we can travel everywhere yet in Europe using our data mobile...)
You can easyly find some post with looking about "SFR data probleme sl2sfr oneplus" through google
I expect that the problem is only on SFR but I can't be 100% sure.
Due to the problem seems to be a network "problem" or french network parameter, I think we will never have any answer or solution. It is sure that yet we will have no more update on yotaphone.
The only one solution I can give you today (avoiding changing operator ) is to use only the APN : Wapsfr
With this APN you will never be connected in 4G but only in 3G. No problem with cost or anything else (pas de risque de hors forfait) but in my case, the reception quality is really better in 4G with 800Mhz frequency that 3G in 2600MHz I believe.
Without 4G I can't receive anything inside my house.
I will keep you and the forum in touch if I find a solution.
Changing to an another operator is not so easy because for low price all the alternative operator like laposte mobile, pristel, NRJ or some other are often on SFR network with the same APN (so I suppose the same problems)
It is maybe also because SFR launched the VOLTE in June and the problem is more or less since this date.
VOLTE is maybe the problem ? When I receive a call I lose the data and she is not coming back

Hi, I have the same problem. And I think the problem go from Free : Before I had SFR and Bouygues, I never saw the problem.
Sometimes, just activate the plane mode, and desactivate it, and the LTE comming back. but another time, I have to reboot the Yota.
Hello xNiux;
With Free, I found also lot of data connection problem on Google.
The main problem with Free is that the mobile should sometime connect to a Free emettor and sometime to Orange.
So maybe your phone is not connected on the good emettor and it is the reason you lose your data connection. I can't be sure because I have not Free Mobile but it is what I wrote.
==> Maybe can you go to "choose operator" and select only Free...
For SFR it is a quite new issue, around june. Before I expected that it was a wrong ROM when I uploaded my phon to MM but it is not the reason.
Even with choosing manually the operator or use airplane mode, nothing is working. I need to restart or open/close my SIM card.
I make a "call" to the RED team to find a solution.
They wrote me this morning that now everything is fine and work well... but this morning I lose another time the connection.
For the moment :
Free is not working with Yotaphone
RED/ SFR is not working with Yotaphone
To be check with Bouygue or Orange to maybe choose an another operator ( I don't want to change my phone)
