Well, it is possible to use the search function, don't ya know
It sounds like the battery meter refresh period is 30 s; I would guess that you can change it in the registry, but it may not be worth it. I see the same thing; refreshing today clears it up (or, just waiting 30 s does the same thing).

does anyone else experience where their battery meter only decreases by 10%... at first i thought it was battery status.. it would go from 100%-90%-80% etc, so i opened the actual battery meter that is built and it does the same thing.. what i wouldnt give to see my battery meter go 100%-99%-98% etc... maybe im just to anal
I thought I was the only one!
I just got my 8525 yesterday - upgraded from the 8125. I noticed the battery meter "issue" also and it has been driving me nuts. I googled a little and couldn't find any information. I have reinstalled the Resco today plug 3 or 4 times thinking it was the problem.
Is there any fix? A registry hack? I hate 10% increments - would prefer 1% like my 8125 use to be. Can anyone help?

Your not the only one, and somewhere I have seen other posts on this so it's just standard. I have also tried other meters but they all seem to draw on the same battery info, i.e. the 10% at a time. I suppose it's not a critical matter unless your on your last 10% in which case it can suddenly become critical.
I haven't seen a solution but I would like to be proved wrong!
Mike
Dang, I have the same issue. I was hoping there was already a fix for it.
I keep thinking the 8125 did this as well at some point.
Either way, we definitely need a fix for this 10% decrement crap.
This maybe a dumb question.... When a device reports in such small incriments of 1% lets say.. Does'nt that sorta require more CPU power in the long run?? Better for the device not to report so much right ?? 10% left means hmm I should get to a charger in about 30mins..

Not dumb, very sensible in fact, just not very satisfying for us obsessive compulsives
Mike
i guess i will admit i must be obsessive compulsive... cause this shouldnt bother me as long as its halfway accurate.. but it does.. i think what bothers me is that you see it sit at 100% for a long time, then all of sudden you look and its 90%... just bothers the fk out of me..
Now that my therapy session is over...
Now here is a good question... does this happen the same way on the stock TyTn's and hermes? or is this just a cingular 8525 thing?
Happens the same on ALL Hermes devices, sadly...
This is the way the driver gives the battery status to WM. The only fix would be a new driver from HTC.
I think that this is a minor problem in a device almost perfect (in my opinion)
i wonder if its possible to steal the driver from the wizard.... hmmmm... unfortunately i wont get time to dig and see until this weekend
I have the same problem and I find it really annoying.

here is the file you need from the wizard 3.2
remove the ZIP extencion
put into the window folder.better yet make a cab file ,make sure is set to hard path.
dont know if i will work......it also depends of the inbuild battery poolling timer. most problably found in the registry.

FYI just a regular copy/paste of that file cause the battery meter not work, lol... will maybe try a cab later

i take a look and compare to the wizard to.
We've been banging our heads against this one on the TyTn for a while with no success. Good luck! Nothing like a new perspective to maybe find something!
I'd actually thought the 1.34 ROM didn't show 100% initially after powersave though. That's interesting b/c it was on Cingular's fix list from the 1.31 ROM...

funny you mention that.. on wakeup on the factory battery meter is shows "unknown status" for about 2-3 seconds before displaying the actual status of the battery... and glad to see i am not the only one that is anal about it
Is there anybody know what software or what method can allow my X1 to show the battery life in single digit % instead of moving by 10% each time (i.e. 100%, 90%, 80%, 70%...). I've installed Battery Status which does not work. I have also install a software call Battery Monitor which has a small icon showing on the top bar on the screen.
Thanks in advance for your great help!
I think this does not work at all.
No there isnt any, as the battery driver only reports in 10% step, unless someone can find another driver to embed in the rom that support 1% steps then it wont be possible
also the has been asked several times recent, so a simply search should show more info!!

Thanks! Then I can only wait until the driver is ready.
i remember seeing something about 1% increments for my old touch pro somewhere... maybe it was at ppcgeeks...
anyways, i remember it wasn't accurate above 90% and below 15%.... it was buggy... you can try to find it and install it if youd like to just try it out
my guess something good will come around soon tho

Thanks a lot! Do you know how the software looks like? It is because I have installed battery status, not working. I have installed battery monitor, not working... I am not sure if you are talking about something which I have already installed but have found not working.
no, its not like "software" as much as it is just a cab that makes some registry tweaks and could possibly replace/add a .dll file
i'll do some searching and see if i can find it
Perhaps this one...?

Two files, does not negatively affect performance to a tangible degree (Latest HTC ROM, couple of performance tweaks) and takes 5 minutes.
It is well worth the effort in my opinion though I have a curious problem whereby if I charge my phone via PC, it never charges above 87%.
good day, guys
I am having a problem with the flashlight and need some help here. Thank in advance for reaing this thread.
I am using a HTC HD2 TMobile. I just flashed it with Miri V17.6 ROM few days ago. The problem is that, in my canera, the flash light is "locked" at "always off". I did tab it, but it just wouldn't change. I am sure I could change it when it was with stock ROM. So does anyone knows what the problem is?
Thanks.

UPDATES
I just found that the phone was in low battery, after I recharge, the falshlight came back. Probelm solved, thanks!
LOL
If you want i have registry mod to enable flashlight even below 20% of battery.
just so you know why,,,, it turns itself off at less than 20% battery.
(EDIT - 30 changed to 20)
in which ROM? In 1.66 WWE and coocked ROM's based in it, flashlight turn off when is 20% or less. I have registry mod, which keep flashlight working even when battery reach 1% charging. Check attachments.

hi guys !I have installed "android desire" ROM and when I tried to make my first pictures to testing the camera ,I saw that my flashlight is not working and the message: "unable use flash due to cold weather"!
..I have tested this ,and when outside are less than 0' celsius, the phone update the weather and don't let me to use it,even if I am at home when are 22' celsius!
Please help me....is a general problem or it is a way to solve it?
sorry for my bad english!
no one knows?
Move to a tropical climate. J/K
yes but I need to stop google location because if I let him active, doesn't work even if I change climate....and in all cases,if I change climate, the weather widget will be unusuable!...sorry for bad english....any sugestions?
Funniest bug I've read about in a long time. I think you're using the old ROM cotulla released together with Magldr, and I don't think it has been updated ever since which means bugs like those couldn't have gotten ironed out.
Just try another one and it should be fixed, if not, follow mattfmartin's advice. Every excuse is a valid one to move to an exotic climate!
In case the language barrier is too high, here is a
Short version:
Try another ROM.
no!I use "[20 JAN][ZIP] RAFDROID HD 2.3 [DATA2EXT][Kern:MDJ 10.3][RMNET][FASTEST FULL DESHD!] " ,and every week I update my rom, because I didn't find yet the best nand android!I get crazy when I go to a party with a phone of 300 euro and I can't make a picture because outside is cold and I am in t-shirt inside!I feel like slam it all the walls! And theese days I realized that it have moment's that even if outside are -7 ' celsius,it works!sometimes work, sometimes not!I wait desperate the summer ,to escape from this problem!Anyone know about this problem?I am the only one who have this bug?thank you for your answers!
This really leaves me puzzled....
Change your phone language to English, and then write down the exact error message. If you use the native English text, you have more chance of having success with Google.
I'm really sorry, but that's all the help I can give you.
The phone is set to native english, and the message is exactly:"unable to use flash due to cold weather"... even if I use camera flash to make a picture or torch to use flashlight!I tried to make a google search but I've find a single post with a few answers but not on subject!thank you very much for your interest !! I have such a sensible phone... idiot...
Weird stuff. Have you had this issue in WinMo too?
no!only with android!
I guess with -20 It will be very hard to have that phone out in the open.
(Brasov this time of year, will hit that temp for sure).
Be aware that you are using something that depends on a certain safe 'usage' temperature.
I'd rather keep that phone in my pocket when it gets THAT cold
Sorry buddy, I have no solution for this, as this is something i've never heard of.
If disabling "my location" makes it work, what's wrong with just turning that off for good?
Settings, Location & security, and turn off "Use wireless networks" and "Use GSP satellites".
I personally never have either of them enabled because of the fact they're such big battery drains.
I will try when I will see next time the message and I will tell you if my problem is solved!thank you very much again and I hope that this will solve the problem!
hello again!after days and weeks of hard work(try all android versions, radio, hspl and others),I finally found the issue: A few monts ago,I bought 2 battery from ebay(chineeze),and I have charged them with an external charger (not connected to phone),and thoose battery were the problem!Yesterday it passed in my mind, and I tried to change the chineze battery with the original and with every try,I saw that the problemm was solved!Thank you again and a tip for you: do not buy Chinese batteries on ebay!
change the battery .. its not getting enough power
I solved the problem by uninstalling "quick settings" app. I used flash battery from quick settings once and that probably caused the problem.

The 'problem' isn't caused by any apps or bugs, its a fail-safe feature. Cold weather affects battery performance, and using flash is battery intensive. Once the phone gets to a certain temp (zero degrees celsius I believe) the phone will disable flash. Confirmed for desire builds.

I got this problem since yesterday and the reason for the message is indeed because the center battery pin was bent.
Check that if you get the Unable to use flash due to cold weather message!

As unusual as that solution sounds, it actually was exactly my problem. Flash working 100% fine now.
