I doubt this one as well.
I thought I had it, too, but it turns out that it's just the default Flash Lite that ships with the phone.

No, this is the real deal, although with sites like Hulu blocking mobile devices from streaming ATM, its range is limited. This ADOBE Flash 10.1, ported from Fr2.2.
PS, ROOT not required -- this simply plugs-into to Webkit browser where flashLite does, but that requires no intervention from the user either, which is very nice IMHO.
no, it's not. the only thing this does is makes it appear as if you have flash 10 to websites instead of flash lite. so it will seem like some sites work that didn't before, but it's still using the flash lite that's already on the phone.

Why are you so sure? That apk installed and used once is 12mb, whereas the HTC Flash Lite plugin weighs in at . . . 52kb.
Because I was one of the first Incredible users when the guy who made it 2.1 compatible posted it. He already stated that the 2.1 webkit can't make use of the new flash beta without being completely rebuilt. He was/is working on getting that done, but for now it doesn't do anything but make it appear to websites that you have flash 10. so while it may seem like new sites are working, it's only because they detect flash 10. Your phone however, is still using flash lite to run the content.

I still find it hard to believe, especially since a friend of mine is using it successfully on an Eclair N1. In that case, it obviously could not cue the webkit just to spoof a plug-in that's not there. All of this would take a lot of time&effort to fake, from the icon, branding, Flash 10 build#, etc.
It doesn't do anything. It loads all the same pages that Flash Lite does. The browser doesn't understand how to use the Flash apk, and continues to use Flash Lite. You can even check this by going to whatismyflash.com before and after you install it.
when i go to whatismyflash.com , it says 10.1.123 ...
Before and after, correct. Nothing changed.
before its 10.1.123 and i didnt even download it. thats the stock flash verson ,so unless when you install it and it changes to 10.1 xxx then it will not work but who cares anyway, we about we are about to have NAND unlocked which means custom roms 2.2 so whats the big deal with this.
Mine says the same thing, but Im still running flash lite...

You don't seem to understand what I'm saying. It's not fake. it's really the 2.2flash beta ported to install on 2.1 devices, but our phones don't actually know how to use it, other than acknowledging it's installed. so everything that worked before, works exactly the same. anything else that "works" after is simply because instead of being detected as using flash lite, the phone now thinks it has full flash, but it doesn't.
These threads are getting annoying! This must be like number seven, READ the thread you got this from before you post this again! The AUTHOR of that apk himself, auxluv, says it doesnt work! 2.1 does not have the apis for flash 10.1, PERIOD. Flash lite is what you are seeing. I cant believe this even needs to be explained to xda members..............

I was immediately skeptical that this would work the first time I heard it for that reason.
There's no particular reason Adobe would be restricting Flash to 2.2 if it didn't depend on 2.2 APIs.
In any case, it's a moot point, since we'll have Froyo within a week most likely.

Did you try this? better than the original one they put out? I'm wondering why it's the same version number. Seems like a good way to confuse people.
Supposedly there were issues with downloading the originial release, so they had to correct that. But, the version they put up is the same one as before.
I've got all 3 "versions" of the new ROM now (leaked, first official issue, and this new one now too) and they're all the same.
Confusing? Yes. Big deal? Not really
so basically this isn't going to fix any issues? you downloaded it and it's the same everything? Why would they bother?

Well yes it's the same as the first release of the 2.13 ROM if that's what you mean. I think they just put it back up because there's people who didn't get it before they had to pull it temporarily for the downloading issues. I assume it'll stay available there from now on.

I used the First release and still have it on my computer at home. I downloaded the leaked version and it was a godsend. I hear when they made it official on the 18th it caused people a lot of problem even bricking. according to the link they where having server issues and that is why they had to pull the official release but I guessed they fixed the issues now. It is the same ROM version as the one I have so your guess is as good as mine. I think sirphunkee has them all downloaded but has not implemented them and is still running 2.10xxx

Correct, and I should have made that clear...still on 2.10, haven't flashed any of the upgrade downloads.
Somewhere in one of the threads in this section about the upgrade, the leaked version and the first "official" releases were compared and found to match bit-for-bit. Also, T-Mobile forums had confirmation that the recent re-release is identical to the one they put up before the download issues. So, by the commutative property of Windows Mobile Mathematics (WMM), they're all the same
However, that's not to say that the end experience from those who have flashed any of the three doesn't vary greatly. Some report a near-magical cleansing of demons, others are suddenly needing an exorcism...and this is across all three "releases" of this ROM.

I forget where I read...but a lot of people where having issue when the flashed to a custom rom then flashed to the upgraded tmobile rom with out returning their phones back to stock. I guess that was a major issue. Or people had to factory reset then run the upgrade I didn't do either of those things when I flashed and it worked great. I mean I didnt have CHT or Editor on but I did have a bunch of apps.
I bought my HD2 last week and the rom it came with from the factory is 2.13.531.1. I have had the phone freeze on me 2 or 3 times in the week I have owned it. Even though the rom that was just released is the same version would it still be a good idea to flash it? I am coming from a G1 and on occasion have flashed a rom and the phone ran like crap. Then upon re flashing the same exact rom the phone ran like normal.
I upgraded last evening, despite my initial trepidation.
Everything seems smooth now--a lot of the hiccups when texting seem to be gone (out of order texts, highlighting of last text sent and lag when trying to write a text that is part of a longer thread).
Swype is working a 100x better.
So far, so good.

That happens with winmo as well as android....after flashing a ROM, sometimes either a re-flash, or an immediate hard-reset is needed to get it to "stick". In fact, most chefs recommend doing a hard-reset right after a new flash, just to be safe, and I've seen numberous times where a buggy install is fixed perfectly just by doing that. So, if you're fine with the effort involved, I would certainly suggest it...it certainly can't hurt
Cool. Thanks for the info sirphunkee.
Software Upgrade or ROM
I downloaded the update from T-Mobile and have it running on my HD2. Was this an update to my ROM, so a hard reset will reload this update? I talked with a T-Mobile rep on the phone who said a hard reset would remove the update and I would have to re-install it.

Good thing you asked here to be sure
No, a hard-reset will only "reload" whatever the currently flashed ROM is...whether it's an official update or a custom ROM.
I'm using a 2.1 firmware and the only thing I see in the web browser that might be Flash is stupid banner ads. I can't get flash videos to play at all and other flash apps and games don't work.
My Nokia 5800 had Flash Lite but it could play videos and run many Flash apps just fine.
I know we're getting full Flash support with Froyo but I still want some basic Flash support for now. I don't want to install the leaked Froyo builds.
So is there a way to get Flash Lite to work like the Nokia 5800 version? Maybe the firmware I'm using just doesn't run it properly? I'm using GYH1.
Or is the Android Flash lite really just rubbish that can't do anything but ads?

Think the best option is to install skyfire unless you want to install JP3(some bugs).

Does it work better for you? If so please tell me what firmware you have.
when i was on jf3 i had it enabled and it worked perfect I could play games, watch movies, after that I jumped to jm1 here it didnt work at all. And now on jm2 it works again(a)
Thanks guys. Must just be this firmware then. Strange though, I'm pretty sure it didn't work when I was on JM2.
I'm wondering which firmware I should use then? Can't wait for the official Froyo update.
I'm considering JM5 since a lot of people seem to be using it.
Edit: Tested it myself, it works!
After seeing JI5 and JI6 come out today, and hearing that the new updates fixed the GPS issue, I decided that I wanted to update.
But, I have a Mac.
Is there anyway to get this to work with a Mac or at least on Parallels? I am not going to go to all the trouble to get boot camp just for this purpose.
It worries me that when the full froyo comes out that I won't be able to upgrade to that either.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

The thing to keep in mind is that Samsung Kies is *NOT* a supported update method for any of the U.S. market Galaxy S phones. The only method officially supported by the 4 U.S. carriers is OTA updates.
In other words, anything crazy people like me (and a few others obviously LOL) find via Kies, or Samfirmwares.com, or modaco, or wherever...are likely to be leaked builds (not final builds) and builds that are not involved with official OTA updates.
Though we may eventually luck up on getting what ends up being OTA updates to 2.1 and 2.2 between now and whenever by doing these things, there are no guarantees.
Now, having said that, you are most likely to receive what ends up being an OTA update from HERE, due to the way OTA updates are staged out in batches. Just because an OTA update goes live on a given date does not mean that every single solitary phone will receive the update that day. It could take days or weeks for your phone to fall into a push batch for an OTA.
So, it depends on what you want to do. If you want to tweak, tinker, and experiment, you're going to have to have a Windows environment at this stage of things.
If you want to just enjoy your phone and be able to get an OTA when one drops...Just wait until it drops and with a dose of patience you'll be fine.

Rom Manager/Clockwork installable zips are made for EASE, not rock-solid-guaranteed-to-have-an-exit-strategy-reliability. Not that clockwork recovery is unreliable, but if you think that clockwork recovery is enough and will always save your bacon, your mistaken.
Even this can have its problems, especially if you encounter problems with a newer build and decide to (mistakenly) nandroid back to a JFD based build.
All of these newer builds are using a newer kernel, and nandroid will not restore a kernel. This is the reason WHY so many people had problems with JI5 dropping today because they didn't do their homework.
They see people like me, and others of course, who jump in and are successful with it. But I and a lot of people leave "understood" and obvious (to us) things unsaid because we at least vaguely think we know what we're doing LOL. And we are fully aware of the need for a reliable Odin setup as a necessary strategy to be this carefree with firmware testing.
At the end of the day, assuming you had a hardware button working Vibrant, the only way out of a bad scenario is Odin3. And that requires a Windows environment.
If you're going to hack android devices, rather than simply use them and rely on your provider for OTA's....you need a windows environment....or you had best really be on top of what your doing and be very careful. The need to have Odin available as a backup strategy when things go wrong really isn't optional.
Although I haven't tried it, I'm not completely sure that Odin won't work in a WINE bottle.
I'll give it a shot when I go home tonight and post a tutorial tomorrow if in does in fact work. I've read where it didn't recognize the Behold II's download mode under linux, but I'm giving it a shot either way.
i have an imac, had it for almost a year now. wouldnt trade it for a thing, but as a mac users; we need to realize, we can never ever ever push windows out of our life... ever. kinda defeats the purpose of buying and owning a mac, i know...
but still, i used odin on my sons laptop so i can get ji5.
I haven't had time to try it on my Mac, but on Linux you can use Virtualbox (free download from Sun/Oracle) to create a Windows XP VM to flash with Odin. It's pretty easy. I think Odin needs the Samsung drivers, so you might not be able to use Wine.
US updates are OTA--as said above. No need to use the computer.
Having said that, I run OS X 10.4 and I know I cannot really do anything with it. I wait for solid builds to come out/keep it simple/research any time I want to mess around inside the code. I bricked a phone and had to use a friend's computer to try and get ODIN to restore.
Bottom-line: If you are OS X dependent, USE CAUTION!!!

First, any official update will be an OTA and therefore will not need a computer. So the fact you're on a Mac won't be an issue at all.
Second, just do BootCamp. It's not really much of a hassle at all, and it's the best experience you can have running Windows on a Mac. I used to run into a lot of driver issues running Windows XP / Vista / 7 through Parallels and VMWare. Plus with how slow it ran and the amount of resources it ate up, I decided to go BootCamp and never looked back. Trust me, it's worth it.

Odin does not recognize our phones in VMware or Parallels. Your only solution is boot camp. I don't now why you're moaning that it's so hard to install. It's literally 3 clicks, then you insert your Windows disk and reboot. If you want to play with leaked firmware, you're going to have to get over yourself.

If you want to flash a custom ROM then go check out the guide in my sig as it will tell you what HSPL is and how to flash it or revert it back to SPL. It also has links to how to install Android to NAND or WP7 if you want to go that route, plus it will give you some good knowledge on what everything is that is needed to do that.

I still have the 2.13 stock T-Mobile USA ROM that came on the phone.
I have not yet flashed to the newer one, only that I have not had the time, as it requires reinstalling and reconfiguring all apps, etc, afterwards, a big undertaking.
But I have intended to flash to the newer ROM, when I get around to it. All the reports I have read here and elsewhere have stated that the newer ROM is much improved.
Therefore, I am surprised to read that you find the new one much worse. Could you please explain, and tell us what you find worse about it?
Thank you.

Just to let you know if most of you apps com from the official Market Place it has an option when you go to my apps in the market app that gives you an option to download and install all of the apps you have install or purchased from the market either all at one time or one at a time if you want. Also the Omarket app has the same my apps option but you have to download and install them one by one on there. So if you go to a good WiFi spot you can have all of your apps back in hardly no time really. And if you have apps that you did not use either of these apps to download and install just download the cab file for the app and store them in a file on your SD card, I have one on my SD card named Cab files just in case I go back to Win Mo.
I tell you. Ilost option enble clear type and screen alignment. My compasonly shows direction the location and other features are gone. I have got storahe issue. My album evry time it opens it uses up 12mb of internal storage. I get 24 mb lost if I open my album twice. I had wallpaper_09 default in all tabs and after updating all tabs are horrible black! There is much more too... Without clear type the web pages look horrible!!!
So it now seems clear that OTA will NOT come for the very nice Google IO version of this device, I recently learned that the rooted versions will handle DRM material from Google play,,(correct?) so I think I'm ready to take the plunge,,
Any advice and step by step instructions? Is there a good JB version (if I'm going to do it might as well go all the way?)
Have not rooted the thing at all, so a bit nervous,, I have installed early ADB's on other devices.. so I get generally how the process should go,, but of course the 10.1 is different and the GIO one is even different from all the rest.
Direction/advice and cautions appreciated.. I love the device and don't want a brick in it's place..
And yes I have both the Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus from this year's GIO...
Thanks in advance!:fingers-crossed:

Yes I have been searching diligently but as you note the GIO tab is "different" so it is not clear which run and which are eligible solutions.
I see from the views that a number are interested in this question but from searching I don't see great solutions..
It seems that the JB versions are not fully baked.
The ICS versions each seem to have issues and it is not clear which if any are running smoothly on the GIO version.
Hence my attempt by asking the question, to gain some authoritative clarity!
The google io version is the same just is fully unlocked by default. Samsung has indeed pushed more then 1 update to this device in the past. Doesn't seem like they will further. It is NOT 100% GOOGLE on this tab... Not sure why everyone thinks so. Anyways, anything that runs on the retail versions will run on the io just make sure u don't flash a new bootloader keep the one u already have. Use Odin to flash a custom recovery then use that recovery to flash a CUSTOM Rom. I'm running cm10 with very few problems
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Thanks! That helps!
That will help a lot.. The clarity on how the GIO version fits in is the main thing that was confusing me.
Now I have a path to follow.. I think.. The CM10 looks very tempting with JB from what I have been reading here,, I take it the only somewhat real issue is the front camera?

Use Odin to flash a custom recovery then use that recovery to flash a CUSTOM Rom. I'm running cm10 with very few problems

Sorry but need pointers..
A quick scan and I could not locate the Odin recovery instructions or software, and can you clarify that you mean the CM10 rom, not sure if you are implying something more by specifying CUSTOM Rom?
Anything I need to know about Not replacing the bootloader?
I'm assuming that I can ignore instructions relating to rooting/unlocking? Since it is a GIO device?
Do i need to do anything special to keep apps/access to app store, Google provided apps Gmail etc or does CM10 have all the basics??
Sorry to be so basic...Just don't want to end up with a shiny brick!

The google io version is the same just is fully unlocked by default. Samsung has indeed pushed more then 1 update to this device in the past. Doesn't seem like they will further. Google is your friend. You'll find ODIN and instructions on how to use it easily.
I believe you have to flash or install the Google Framwork apk separately. I'm sure the CM10 folks have a sticky or FAQ to help.
Read as much as you can about the process before doing it!
Found this on Odin on Android Authority
this appears to answer some of my questions at least where to find Odin

But of course I want to go to CM10 so I need to think how that modifies things...
