a lot of people(including me!) want to participate in the port project but they don't know where to start!
i got some advanced skills on linux and i want to start dev builds especially after the end of the exams and the start of holidays

After more than a year (of slacking :roll, I'm finally catching up with the Linux port again.
Seeing some good progress has been made with the Himalaya, I've moved onto 2.6 as well. I just got the usual linexec + kernel 2.6.10-hh0 (from handhelds.org) booting on the Wallaby XDA1. I shall feed the tree onto xanadux cvs, and/or handhelds.org's sometime.
In the meantime I'll look and play around a bit. Might put together some simplier stuff like the buttons support and touchscreen, and/or followed by more and more bootloader code reading/disassembling/ida-ing.
To be honest I myself is really just a beginner in disassembling and ida, I'm sure I'll need a lot of help here
I am willing to help ....javascript:emoticon('')
Hello,
I am very happy to hear, that it is again going on!
I am a windows programmer with a little bit embedded experience.
But I am a newbie with Linux .
I am willing to help or document. But with the spare information in the xanadux-wiki page it is not possible for me to set up an developement envirenment.
Perhaps it is the best to push back your changes in CVS, - commit your wish for help in the mailing-list of the project and explain how to setup the developement environment on the wiki page.
I will try to follow your steps and will update xanadux wiki page with more details if wished/needed!
I want to have linux on my device!
not a programmer but willing to learn, and provide any resources I could on my end.
Hey guys,
I want to start making ROMs for the NC, but I don't really know where to start. How would I make the ROM work with the Nook, and how would I then fix all the bugs, etc? If any of the Nookie devs could respond with where (or how) they learned to make ROMs, that would be great. I really want to start becoming part of the development community, and learning about how Android works.

You can check over my thread down in cyanogenMod on how to get started on building your own KANG ROM project for your nook color. I added lots of information in that thread and all of the tools you need to get started. I also go over on how to debug your builds somewhat, I need to update that thread.
Make sure you have tons of time and commitment before you get started, I also have a few reference books in that thread also you will need to read on how linux kernels work.
We are trying to keep a lid on wildcat KANG builders for the nook color at the moment with those wanting to publish KANG JB builds, as others posting KANG builds without further work in debugging those builds leads to sloppy builds for everyone, so when you are ready check with the top developers with the nook color up in IRC at #nookcolor at freenode.net. Lots of new developers lack the skills and knowledge to debug their builds, yet can get a build up and running on their device.
Anyway here is the link I started for new developers interested in building android builds for the nook color and other android devices. http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/50994-follow-along-with-me-trying-to-learn-how-to-code/
anybody else???
So I have very little knowledge on developing a ROM for android but I want to try and have fun
Apparently to make a ROM you need a kitchen but seeing some threads their are not kitchens... So is this done by editing sources codes and how what do you use to develop a ROM with the source code?
Big newb here but wanting to learn
Hi,
I'm developing a tool to make Android apps without coding and I'm asking for your valuable feedbacks.
The name of my project is DevPal Studio and currently it's in alpha stage. In this stage, it can build Android apps but not all the features are implemented.
Alpha Version is ready to download. Please visit http://www.devpalstudio.com
I have started this project for non-coders to make apps with ease but I think it became a valuable tool for coders too.
I'll be very grateful if you could share your comments and ideas about the project and lighten me up.
You can get additional info and videos from project's web page.
Thanks in advance.

Interesting
This will be really helpful to a lot of people
Looks really promising - I would gladly give it a try!
Absolutely no coding? Fantastic, I think it will help people to start Android development.
Thank you all for your comments. Now, I'm more hopeful than ever and I'll try to release the alpha version for you to try asap.
Currently, I'm working on the UI designer and I try to make it very easy to use and when it's ready I hope the whole app will be ready to release as alpha version.
Thanks again.
