Slacker Radio not working over Edge? - HD2 General

Hi,
I searched but couldnt find any threads on this topic. I just go my Hd2 for Tmobile unlocked (stock roms). I use it on ATT and my all my programs connect to the network except SLACKER RADIO. Howver, it does work over wifi.... so im not sure how to fix it.
Also, the location for the weather app is not accurate... how can I fix this?
Thanks!

Slacker i cant help you with as it only works over there, but the location thing, onep up google maps get a gps lock ,then try and update see if it makes a difference, the weather thingy isnt the best where i live it doesn't work at all, I have yo use an app called Weather/city Editor,

i am also having the same problem. slacker won't work on ATT edge but all other programs do just fine.. any fix for this?

It has to be an AT&T thing, because I am on TMO and it works fine, so I doubt it is a phone issue, but a provider one ...
EDIT:
But on a side note, when I am roaming on AT&T it still works go fig ....

I talked to t-mobile a couple of weeks ago, because my phone would lose signal it different parts of the hospital I work at. So I tried to force roaming onto at&t (It detected it as available) but it wouldn't connect.
They told me that their roaming agreement with at&t ended last fall (which I googled to be true) and that for the most part, wireless carriers were no longer doing roaming agreements. I told them that sprint and verizon still had agreements, but whatever.
They said I might be able to jump onto at&t or other networks in limited circumstances, but that would only be in areas with confirmed zero t-mobile coverage.
Lucky for me t-mobile covers texas very well and I don't travel much!!!
On the original topic, At&t is notorious for restricting their network. They just let slacker over 3g with the iphone a few months ago. I'm guessing it is at&t restricting it to 3g only.

Use T-mobile Htc Hd2 On AT&T 3G Network?

Hi guys, i have already searched the forums and cant find anything related to my title. Basically i would like to know if i could use my hd2 on at&t 3g network and how can i do it. I know i can unlock my hd2 by asking t-mobile but would it work on at&t? Thanks in advance
yeah it works on at&t network but not as 3g. It gets E which is the edge. If you search the forum there's a cab file that will program the phone so you can use data connection with at&t network. I got my phone unlocked via tmobile and have been using it with at&t for a couple weeks now without any problems.
SO you are basically saying that i can do anything i can already do with the phone on t mobile on at&t but except have 3g? So i would have to use edge as my data connection for internet? And how does sms work? Any settings to change to get it to work?
Install this cab file, its all you need to do

These are the att settings everything will just work
on att, you can use gprs/edge , but of course no 3g
You have to have T-Mobile account to get the HD2....they don't sell them unlocked... after 40 days of use on a t-mobile account, t-mobile customer service will provide youw ith an unlock code, not before...

No, can't be flashed to work on AT&T 3G. You would have to get the Australian Telstra 9193 model which uses the 850 band that AT&T uses. That's the only way to use AT&Ts 3G with the HD2. The bands are set in the hardware.

this is incorrect. anyone can get the hd2 without contracts @full price of 450 plus tax. they will also unlock it in 1 to 5 days if you paid full price.got mine from wirefly, and had it unlocked in 2 days.

I have an HD2 on AT&T and everything works, but not fine! If I am browsing the internet and the phone tries to update the weather or mail, really anything else that accesses data in the background it will stop my data connection everywhere. It seems the only way to fix this is a hard reset sometimes, at the very least I have to exit the browser, open the task manager, kill everything, and turn off the data connection in the wireless controls and turn the data back on... My questions to the others who are using this phone on AT&T are 1) are you experiencing the same problems? 2) What did you do to fix this. I have installed the above mentioned cab file for settings and I have also manually entered the settings. I would love the phone even though it only has EDGE except it cant hold a data connection for more than 10 minutes at a time.

Well due to the type of connection that EDGE is, you cannot be on the internet and talk on the phone at the same time. This would also go for all applications that use the data connection...only one at a time. This was the case on the pre-3G phones like the HTC Wizard (Cingular 8125).

The phone cannot and will not get 3G when used on the AT&T network, despite what your icons show...the hardware simply isn't capable. Period.
Bought my unlock code through ebay for $14.00 and had the phone unlocked in 20mins. HD2 works great now.

G = GPRS
E = EDGE
look them up on wikipedia if you want more info but.....
GRPS is older and slower than Edge, GRPS max speed in ideal conditions is somewhere i the upper double digits/ lower triple digits. You might be lucky to get into the 200kbps range with EDGE.
In the end both suck compared to being able to get tmobile's 3g signal which ive personally seen hit 5mbit/s here in tampa now that HSPA+ is deployed. Being able to get ATT's 3g might get you right around 1mbit if lucky. I dont know what if any plans ATT has for HSPA+ deployment

I used this .cab file and while I can browse the web, I can't seem to send MMS pictures using my AT&T sim, are there other settings I have to change?

I just bought the hd2 and planning on unlocking it to work on AT&T. I know that I will be getting Edge instead of 3g. But can someone plz explain to me how does it work as far as data plans and mms. Do i need to have a data plan to send mms or mms will be sent through edge. and as for data and web browsing , do i have to have a data plan or since when i go online i will be on edge so i dont need a data plan

Is there any way to force roaming on Windows Mobile

I have a T-Mobile HD2, but T-mobile doesnt workin at my workplace. AT&T works so I was wonderning if I could force a roam. I've tried to manually connect to the network, but network registration fails. Anybody know anything?
Roaming is for countries other than your home country... no operator that I know of lets you roam to their competitors' networks... (apart from operators that own no physical network and have agreements to use other carriers' networks, in which case you can benefit from all... but that's rare).
But...
That is exactly the case with T-Mobile and AT&T. I got to school in Denmark, SC in the country. There I can roam on AT&T cuz theres no T-Mobile tower. When I got home its back to T-Mobile. The only thing I could say is that the roaming could be region or area specific. Could that be the case?
I guess the best way to know is to call TMO and ask...
I roam on AT&T just fine up here (Mendocino County in Northwestern California) in dead spots, and that's in-market where there are also T-Mobile sites. We're a former Edge Wireless market (AT&T Affiliate, taken over by AT&T in April of 2008), and all former Edge Wireless markets have this, we get to use AT&T and T-Mobile's network, I can force (instead of letting it automatically roam over) it to roam on AT&T if I want as well.
force roaming hd2
i have just purchased a hd2 i would like to know nore on this subject since i do not reside in a area that offers descent cell service... i know it is possible on a g1 (my last phone) but would there ve a way to do this on a wm 6.5 fustom rom?? or another ahdroid on for that matter i know nothing has been discissed in some time now on this thread but any help/redirectoon would br much appeeciated.... thanks. ps. sorry i should enable spell check.

[Q] Need help with unlocked Verizon Trophy

I bought a Htc Verizon Trophy and had it factory unlocked by Verizon . Popped in my AT&T sim card and it only gets edge and not 3G . I performed several hard resets and entered the correct APN settings and still no 3G. T-mobile sim card works also but edge is expected. Voice and Internet work great but I was under the impression that it was dual mode and has the AT&T 3G radios and should work on 3G.
Any suggestions or pointers on getting the 3G working?
Thanks
Download "HTC Connection Setup" under the HTC apps in the Market. Select AT&T from the settings and it should help you out.
Also, make sure your AT&T area offers 3G coverage. In my area of Northwest PA, 3G coverage is almost none existent. Basically, if your sim allowed 3G on another phone before, it should be okay (or check AT&T coverage map).
Be careful, I used this program to set my Verizon settings and now I can't get data on Verizon anymore. . Guess that's what I get for playing around.

Did you restore your trophy to a backup from before you used HTC connection setup? I just did the interop unlock for my trophy as well and I cant get 3G data back. Im hoping restoring the phone to an old backup will fix the problem. Verizon better not have somehow blocked our phones from getting 3G!

[Q] sprint gs4 international sim unlocked data

I have a sprint GS4 that was unlocked for international sim use because I am spending some time in london. I bought a sim card on the 3 network when here. I have really good voice coverage almost all the time but I have really spotty data coverage. It will be connected and then suddenly disconnect and not reconnect almost as if I dont have any data coverage. Sometimes when I change mobile network settings around it'll come back but there's no certain fix to the problem. I am wondering if this is a known issue, and if there is a solution/if i should move to another network/get a new phone(which would be my last option if i only really had to). Looking for any advice/suggestions.

As per the thread I link below it seems to be a common problem with all SGS4 phones.

[Q] Selected Network Unavailable

Hi, all. I moved from Australia to the US, and brought my GT-I9505 with me. I'm on an at&t sim, however if I look at my phone's "Network Operators," I'm unable to join the at&t network. Instead, I see that I'm connected to a network called Maritime. I've tried asking at&t for help here, and they've tried giving me APN settings, but nothing has enabled me to use the at&t network.
The AT&T network appears as an available network when I search for networks. But if I select it, I get a spinning wheel saying "Registering on AT&T" followed by a toast message that says 'Unable to connect. Try later."
For now, I'm happily on the Maritime network, which is actually a network here in California so that people on cruise ships get some signal. It's not a huge deal for now, but I have a suspicion that a day will come when this will become a problem.
I'm wondering if I need to change my modem, or my ROM in order for the phone to work correctly on the at&t network. Anyone have any ideas about that? On previous phones, I had rooted the phone, but with this one, I left it as stock and haven't changed a thing and thinking maybe there's some Australian software that is not compatible with AT&T? Thanks for your advice.
Thanks.
did you purchased a sim here? if you did you should go to the store where you activate it and ask the reps for help

Yeah, that was the first thing I did. Then I called and spent an inordinate amount of time with tier 2 support, who eventually asked me if I could just live with it.
Hm, I've taken a few trips to the States with my i9505, and managed each time to roam on the at&t (and T-mobile) network without any issues. 3g worked well, and there were no dropped calls. That being said, my phone uses a Nordic, and not Australian, baseband, which I suspect might be the reason why everything's working here. In addition, I'm also using a custom ROM.
