Notification Enhancement 3.5 Prevents Boot-up - Windows Mobile

On my Fuze, Notification Enhancement 3.5 will not allow my device to boot past the orange screen in WM 6.5 21887. I'm cooking a clone ROM of the Rhodium S2 (Sense 2.5) with EVK and I have everything BUT Notification Enhancement 3.5 working. 2.0 works fine BTW. In addition, the volume control is not working except for through the manila settings tab with either one. I'm thinking this is a hardware-software incompatibility issue. However, I'm not giving up yet. There are some other issues through which I think I can work but any help here would be greatly appreciated.

This is a known issue with EVK. You need to recmod NTFConfig.dll. This issue doesn't persist with Barin's OSBuilder.

I was also having the same problem And never knew about the EVK Issue. Shall have to give it a try..
thanks..

Thanks for the heads up, indagroove. It worked. BTW, I still haven't got around to using OSBuilder yet. I'll be reporting as I get a chance.

Yes I confirm that recmodding the module did work... thanks a lot...

Actually, it's not an issue with EVK, it's an issue with PRB. EVK uses PRB as the building tool. PRB lacks the ability to handle some modules. But PRB is the easiest to use building tool I have ever used, so I don't want to switch to OSBuilder yet.

SuperJustKitchen v0.7 Released.
Go to my site: http://justkitchen.info to get the updates and the info. It takes to long to update every device's forum that is supported, and I plan to support all devices.
For more information on the kitchen, please read: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4288668
Word of warning:
None of the new EXT's have been tested and fixed for the Herald, Opal, Hermes AND Artemis. Please test test and test and then let me know which packages don't work and what YOU've done to fix them. (I don't have time to fix ALL of them by myself.)
(I'm no longer updating each thread separately for each device but just updating my site and posting the release info here.)

Take not that there are many versions of certain packages. Let me know if the older ones are close enough to the new ones so that I can delete the old ones.

At the moment, consider SJK v0.5 to be a test... Don't expect to have THAT many builds when it goes into v0.5.5
Right now it has the following builds available to you:
21054 (wm6.1)
21864 (COM2 - old style gui - wm6.5)
23064 (COM4 - newer gui - wm6.5)
5.5 will only have 21054, 21864, and 23064 unless something new gets released.

Thanks for providing us a new kitchen for opal. Can u give me a tutorial on using this kitchen for opal. Full explaination plz
It works exactly the same as your other Ervius based kitchen. You can follow that tutorial as well.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4446173&postcount=3
The real difference is that I do the porting of new builds and the addition of new EXT packages for you.
(Granted, I've added more options under the Extra Buttons section, but you can go in there and figure out what most things are from their names and descriptions.)
Thanks BUT....
Thanks for your work man BUT: When i make my rom everything works Except the HOME settings and COMM manager,it is the same thing with BesFen kitchen, sometimes it works and then sometimes it does not.
I have tried and tried but nothing seems to help,i give up. I hope you guys can figure it out. Thanks.
What Home settings?
As far as the COMM Manager, don't choose the Comm manager in the EXT list. It's meant for older devices (like the Herald). Don't choose a Comm Manager at all. The OEM still has a comm manager built in. It will automatically insert a working comm manager.
Sorry i meant when you go to start/settings/Today does not work and i did not choose the comm manager, the one that comes with the oem does not work. Like i said sometimes they work and then it does not.

Weird... The Today works fine on the Herald and it's part of the SYS, not the OEM. Are adding or not adding the MyCPL?
So the Comm Manager, even the one that's made FOR the phone has problems?
No i left out MyCpl. What is that BTW. The same thing happens in BesFen kitchen but it works when you put the PP on 12,anything higher it will not work. But i tried it on 12 & 16 PP in your kitchen but it does not work at all. Also when using file explorer and when selecting a theme when Today is working i have to long press or hold down the stylus to select something.

So it happens with BesFen's kitchen as well? The Opal is so strange and different than the other devices when it comes to cooking, I wonder what other changes I must make to the kitchen to get it work properly. At the moment, without an Opal, I can only make a kitchen as good as BesFen can when it comes to proper NB creation. Does anyone have a current WORKING kitchen for the Opal that doesn't have these problems? If so, point me to it and I will study the differences.
As a side note: Doesn't the Opal use myCPL by default? If it does, then you MUST choose it.
If you know PhamQuang you can ask him what kitchen he uses, his roms are usually buggy but i think the last one he made was good and everything works smooth.
You can find more detailed info on the kitchen in the main thread.

theglen35, I'll go ahead and try to contact PhamQuang. Thanks.

Official Opal's ROM have MyCPL, it should be include in ROM.
The reason I made opal's kitchen because no one share working kitchen here, some one asked me to make kitchen for Opal.
PhamQuang is from PDAVIET, and as we all know they always don't want to share the kitchen and source. You can try to contact him, maybe they change their mind now.

Hey BesFen THANKS very much for making a kitchen for the Opal,I have made many roms with it and except for a few problems it works good. But i think you should try and get all the bugs and problems worked out so we don't have to rely or wait for PhamQuang or PDAVIET to get any roms.
Because of the problems i am using Opals original WM 6.1 until you guys can figure it out.

If your ROM can boot, it mean the kitchen work great.
The problem that you figure is not causes by the kitchen, it's pure something in the ext or OEM or SYS, try to read more reference from others device thread, I can't fix it since I don't have opal for test it, I am sorry about that.

Yea, if the Opal comes with the MyCPL and they don't choose it, then that's part of the problem.
I agree with you, though. Technically, the issue is not with the kitchen but with what you DO with the kitchen as a cook. Since I don't have an Opal either, I won't be able to look around and preemptively fix all the bugs by pre-packaging certain EXT's into the OEM.
I also appreciate you working on that Opal kitchen. It's what I used as an example to get the Opal compatibility on my own kitchen. I appreciate your advise about PDAVIET.
ob_izzy, now it's your turn to be a great cook. ^_^

Come on guys, what are you saying? Both of you are making a kitchen for a device that you don't have and can't test and you are saying it's not the kitchen! I beg to differ because believe me i have tried all sorts of ways to get the rom to work including reading alot, re-arranging files, adding, leaving out, different PP. Maybe it still has stuff to add or leave out that i don't know about, so that is where you guys come in. I need PLEH.

The kitchen only puts things together. What the stuff does depends on the OEM's and EXT's included. If you took all the EXT's that came with the official Opal ROM, you may not have any bugs because the manufacturer has worked out all those little bugs. If I had an Opal to play with, I'd probably find all the bugs myself and fix them (like I did with the Herald.) Unfortunately, we need the help of a very experienced Opal cook who HAS an Opal. (Or I need an Opal, which isn't happening since I have a G1 as my main phone and wouldn't buy an Opal to replace it (nothing wrong with the Opal, but I love android. )

You can make an experience, dump the official opal's ROM (ruusigned.nbh) with Visual kitchen from mine or ivanmmj, go to the official rom folder, there is a "dump" folder there with Ervius kitchen tools, then run that kitchen and build the rom, it will build ROM same as official that you dump. If it run well, no problem with the kitchen.

Great suggestion man. I tried it and it did build the 6.1 rom without problems but it builds 6.1 good but not 6.5. When it builds wm 6.5 there are problems.

Dialpad glitch with latest OS (for example 23108)

I built my own ROM with Phone_Canvas_Enhancement_2G 4_2_62120113626_0 from 2.10 ship rom and dialpad fix in the forum was also applied. The dialpad worked smoothly but I noticed a problem when somebody called me - the incoming call screen was totally blank! No numbers were shown. How to solve this problem? Thank you very much.

Which dialpad fix? Fards' fix. Unfortunately that doesn't work on 2310x builds. There are more problems on this builds with the dialpad. Like for example the one you mention.
There a two (actually 3) options you can try, install the ported mini dialer from Smaberg (look in his sticky thread in the app forum) or you can use pimstore.dll, cprog.exe and tpcutil.dll from a 23544 (or newer) build. A third option is to try cprog.exe and maybe pimstore.dll and tpcutil.dll from the tmous 2.10 rom.
Don't use these workarounds with fards' dll because that will cause some severe problems. (unfortunately)
Thank you for you help I will try it out today and report the results.
appleflap that's absolute drivel !
I've used my file on all the 23xxx builds..
I'm currently using it on 23108 right know without issues..
the callerID issue is another problem altogether to what My file fixed, at least you are correct in suggesting the correct files to fix that..

Your fix is so great Workaround for 23108 is to use your fix and use pimstore.dll, cprog.exe and tpcutil.dll from 23545, is that right?

Yeah, great
From experience with the 23105 and 23106 build, I can tell you that your fix caused severe problems with the substitution of the pimstore.dll, cprog.exe and tpcutil.dll files from a 23544 build. (Lockups, a non working windows softkeys etc) Be my guest try it.
The same is true for the combination of the ported Mini dialer and the aforementioned susbtituted files. Be my guest, try that also.
I had to rebuild my roms too often to not stay 100% behind after what i'm saying here. So don't you drivel me.
And ****, at least i'm trying here. Now please give the guy an answer you genius.

Can anyone share a 3.04 based Kitchen?

Hey, there, guys...
It's me, little old Bruno, the Iolite and Mega Chef...
I just bought a Leo and I'm cooking for it, but the most advanced base I can have is a 1.80 based Kitchen...
If I have any other than that, for some stupid reason, I can't boot after the RUNCC reboots my device...
It hangs at the welcomehead screen with the light a little dimmed IF I HAVE THE SD CARD INSERTED...
Otherwise it will boot fine...
Obviously I have read many threads and used search, but it appears no one else is having this issue... Only the FM Radio and Wireless issues that come from using the 2.14 / 3.04 Drivers bundle.
I know this is a driver issue and I was wondering if you have got a working 2.14 or 3.04 based kitchen that I can have so I can start my cooking...
On a quick note:
I am using the 3.04 EXT Packages + 3.04 OEMDrivers, OEMDriversHigh, OEMMisc folders + 2.14 nk.exe only
Best regards,

Rhodium 2.10 OEM base

I just updated from the 2.07 to the 2.1 ATT Base, but using the same SYS as before and the same EXt packages as before, and it had some side effects.
Some of this may have been caused my the rusghed way I updated my kitchen.
Cons:
1. Although XDA-UC ran and installed both exes and some xml, it did not import my exchange settings. neither the XDA-UC pack or the XML for that has changed in months.
2. When I restored my CHT quicklinks, I had to manually restore the one for ActiveSync (Linked to the above?)
3. Had a funny moment with manila where it went very flickery. Never had that before.
Pros
I can now activate voice command with the button on my bluetooth headset like I used to. This is a big thing for me.
Also, just realised, I set up a new kitchen so forgot to apply a few tweaks and change the pagepool. D'oh.
Any hints about the above - first time I have used an ATT base - is there anything around activesync in particular that might be impacted?
Cheers
Do you have 2016 Manila working on this base? If so, would you be willing to share your kitchen or some key EXTs? What kitchen SW are you using? Thanks.
And #3, I had Manila be flickery on almost all the ROMs I have tried. Valyrie, Energy, mines. Are you using CFC compression?
using 2012, sorry.
i use oskitchen 1.3.
my recook went better but i think there may be something about ActiveSync.
so far so good..

[Q] Problem with Phone Canvas Enhancement 2G v4.0.52619223128.0 in com2 build.

Problem with Phone Canvas Enhancement 2G v4.0.52619223128.0 in com2 build.
Hi all, just have an issue and I can't point the finger on the right place to get this one solved
So I'm asking for some help, I'm using the Phone Canvas Enhancement mentioned above, and it works perfect on a com3 build but
for some reason when I cooked this one in a com2 build the options for the dialer are not working.
I'm using the same kitchen, for com3 and com2 with the same pkg's and everything is working the way it should work.
Only in the com2 build I'm not able to setup the call-specific options.
Already changed the mui files, used another dummy_sqm but still no difference.
The com2 build I'm using is 21916, also tried 21914 but no difference.
Someone else have any idea ?
Thanks,
Ok, just want to give it one more try so BUMP
Hi,
Did you dump the rom yourself or are you using predumped packages?
Phonecanvas in com 3 needs some fixes like the softkeypad.
Also did you look in operatorpkg?
Have a look there which phcanOverbmp.
Is it HTC or T-Mous?
That's all I can think of.

I dumped the rom myself, import the 23569 build and import the 21916 build, made a small change on the 21916 build (changed office mobile to office mobile 2010) and edit the file phcanrc, build rom in 23569 no problem, and in 21916 issue with the options.
There is not much left in my operatorpkg only the animated.gif and the Mega_phcanOverbmp, so I have to see if that causes the issue, but I still think it's strange that I don't have it with the 23569 build.
For now really thanks for the info, I'm gonna work on it and keep you informed if this will solve it.
Btw nice site you have
Greetz,
Try to use the phonecanvas as it's (if possible) and use the correspondending phcan in operatorpkg.
Another thing you need to check is the reg in operatorpkg, if it directs to the phcan you are using.
In my case:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\ResOver\Bitmaps]
"Basedll"="leo_phcanOverbmp.dll"
"BaseId"=dword:00000000

I mean the advanced options, sounds, network, gsm/umts, headset it's a submenu from the dialer, I think that Laurentius26 is right because I miss the registry key for phcan, I'm gonna check it this evening.
Still wondering why I don't have a problem with a com3 build.
Keep you all informed
Somewhere in sys, maybe Phone or Phoneredist I can't remember, it is set to not display.
Check your reg for
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\Phone]
remove
redirect=""
if its there.

Okay thanks gonna try that, because changing the reg. made my kitchen crash.
Greetz,
Ok, I give up, I build 12 roms with 21916 (all different languages) until I noticed the issue, went back to 21914, same issue.
Tried what you both suggested, kitchen start crashing, went back to the original 21854 with the same pkg everything working normal also the options menu in the dialer.
So the problem must be in the changing the office pkg or a kitchen-update because thats are the only things I've changed.
And I'm not even sure about the kitchen-update.
For now I'm not sure what I've changed to give an honest answer if I get this solved.
Just want to say thanks the both of you, together is power
Regards,
I went through some unmodified builds.
The reg key is in the rgu in SYS\Phone....
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\Phone]

Yes, I know, I already found that reg key, but for some reason my kitchen keeps on crashing when I use the 21916 build, so I can not tell you if the trick you told me is working.
In short what I tried:
1. Edit the reg key for the phcan.
2. Deleting the reg key in the Phone pkg.
3. Changing the Phone pkg and use the one from 21854.
4. Building without ext-pkg
5. Make a switch to 21914 and repeated the 4 steps mentioned above.
But for now the kitchen keeps on crashing when I'm using the 21914 or 21916 build, which is very strange because I cooked several roms with it also cooked without the office pkg but still no change.
For now I'm gonna download another com2 build and see if that will do the trick.
In Dutch: Schiet mij maar lek.
In English: Shoot me.
And again really thanks for trying to help me.
Greetz,
Sorry forget my post.
Ok downloading and importing the 21916 again did the trick, download the build from mobileunderground, normally I used the builds from ppckitchen not sure if they are different.
The only thing I can think about for now is that when I'm upgrading my kitchen, went from 1.25 to 133.3 (oskitchen) always in small steps but the only thing I changed was the exe file and the resource folder, and maybe there it went wrong.
I know it is not a real solution but for me this one is solved.
Thanks,
