Email via app connector - EVO 4G General

My work is very locked down when it comes to non blackberry access. Is there a application that i can install on my work desktop that can sync my email? Basically relay between the evo and my email (using my pc as the go between)?

I have the same problem with the native aosp email client. I can connect fine with the sense client and touchdown. I have tried time and time again for a solution to no avail. I have even called my I.T. department and they Sid thy its on Google's end and there was nothing they could do. Its a real bummer.
Thanks for your response guys

I had mine workin fine before I rooted and havent been able to get it to connect since then...
I have been using my EVO for my work (Exchange) email and calendar since launch day. It has worked on non-rooted Sense, rooted Sense and rooted non-Sense. I just had to add "webmail" before my exchange name (webmail.company.com).
No problems whatsoever with the Email client in CyanogenMod 7. Connects, syncs, push notifies, does calendar, email, and contacts.
If your company is publishing "outlook anywhere" the stock sense mail client should connect and auto configure. Only needs domain and account credentials

Mine works fine.
Just be aware that if you connect your personal cell phone to your work Exchange account then they can wipe your phone.
http://www.npr.org/2010/11/22/131511381/wipeout-when-your-company-kills-your-iphone
With Exchange 2010 you can wipe the phone yourself using OWA. Maybe with 2007 as well but my company uses 2010.
Appends on your Exchange server policies. The stock android client is not compatible with certain security policies.

SGT will not sync gmail

Title says it all. I have tried everything I have found in this forum with no luck. Basic problem is I have to click refresh in gmail to recieve my email. I am not rooted and my htc evo and desktop all work flawlessly and notify me about new emails. Any ideas would be helpful.

Go to settings / accounts and sync / and verify you dont have any red icons on the gmail account. If you do there are normally error why. You can also ensure you have mail checked to synchronize as well as contacts.
That is the first step that comes to mind. If you have not already, delete amd readd the acct. You will want to play close attention when setting back up the settings on each setup page. You may have set sync frequency to manual or something.

I have deleted the account and deleted the data from the gmail app under manage applications. I have checked and unchecked the sync setting many times. Each time I re check the gmail sync it syncs fine and if I have a new email it will notify me but after that if I get an email I get no notification on my SGT unless I click refresh in the app or uncheck then re check sync.

What are your notification settings in the gmail account application?

Notify in system bar when email arrives

Do you have any other Android devices? If so, do they sync correctly?
Do you have any type of authentication set in gmail?
Have you tried a factory reset?
Are you using the gmail app and not the email app?
Do Google Talk notifications work correctly?
Sorry if some of these questions sound dumb, but better to cover all bases before moving on.
Awe good point.... I think he is using the email app vs the gmail app. I dont think the notification option mentioned is available in the gmail app.

Trust me they are not dumb questions I did tech support for a few years... It is just sad when you have to ask "Is the computer plugged into the wall socket?" Anyway yes I have an HTC EVO the gets the IMAP push just fine as does my desktop running Chrome. I have just a regular single password set up for gmail. I have not done a factory reset yet. I am using the gmail app. I dont use google talk but google voice notification work. The voice notifications are not IMAP but set on a timer ever 15 minutes however.
I had this same problem and tried everything toto make it work. I never got it fixed, so I did a factory reset and it works fine now.
Thats what I am thinking of trying. Wish it could be simpler though. :\

I think i had this once.... But a delete and readd fixed it. Do you have your gmail setup to backup your apps and bookmarks to chrome? You can also use mybackup pro to backup other on device media and OS settings. =)

Just tried a factory reset and the problem remains. Could my router be blocking the push. Chrome gets the push fine on the same router I use the extension "Google Mail Checker" I am out of Ideas.
Try restarting your router just in case.
I don't know if this applies to your issue? http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Google Mobile/thread?tid=3a06c995ce0f82ae&hl=en
Yep that is the same problem I am having. That page was my first try for a fix before posting. I went through all of those steps and it didnt resolve the issue thats when I posted here. I am begining to think I am just out of luck.

I have noticed that I get no lights at all when booting up or shuting down or ever. Is that normal?

Completely disabled firewall on my router and boom it works. WOOT! Do you know what port # IMAP could be using different than what chrome is using.
Re enabled firewall still working. Beats me. :-|

Very odd. Would think a router would come out of the box ready to support email protocols.

Exchange to battery consumer

Hello everyone,
I connect to gmail using Samsung Email client (using exchange, not imap or pop). While it's pushing email to me, it always give this message of connection error whenever I open Email. And when I checked what could be consuming my battery so fast, I found exchange being on top.
Anyone is experiencing this or have any idea?
Cheers

Do you know what version of Exchange Server you're connecting to? Older versions of Exchange had annoying issues with ActiveSync on the Galaxy Tabs, and I always had to delete and re-add the Device Administrators policy to get it to work...
It's google exchange server. I'm not sure what's the version. I never had this problem in my classic tab.
Sent from my GT-P6800 using XDA App
Sorry about that. I forgot you were connecting to GMail.
What error are you getting when you try to sync?
Unable to connect gmail.

I am using the email client that came with the note, if you configure your email using imap, or lucky enough to have exchange then push will work, if you do pop3 then push won't work. I bought Kaiten which is the paid version of K9 pop3 is still timed and not pushed.

If you have Exchange then it will push...
Yes the native client supports servers that will do push (ie exchange).
Incidentally the mail client "Touchdown" ****s all over the native client (yes is does cost approx $20, I reckon its worth it.)

I have Exchange setup but push works for only few days and it stops for some reason

Just install the official Microsoft: Hotmail + Seven from the Play Store, free and configure it to push.
I always thought Gmail was push
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
it is.
Push on the native email client works but has this flaw: it will disable push when it is unable to connect to server. You need to manually load the app again to re-enable push.
This disabling might happen when travelling in train when you loose network momentarily, or when leaving one WLAN and connecting with another after a few minutes.

Ah...i use to wonder why sometime push is working and sometime not...i thought somewhere related to data connection but couldn't get the exact pattern. Thanks, This will surely help.
Any idea why I'm not able to see embedded images on native email client with exchange setup? It's showing only as attached files and image itself on email has little blue question mark

Ok thanks guys. Can you post me the steps to set up and hotmail account with push? I remember that i had my hotmail with push on SGS somehow. I just can't find the tutorial anymore.
I think you need to set the hotmail server to m.hotmail.com to get push to work.

[Q] Email not persistent on my Note 3

There was only one thread near what I am experiencing with no solution so apologies now if I am redundant to another thread I don't see!
Background:
Device is Note 3 purchase within this week. Using stock email client at the moment. Configured a new account on my Note 3 to sync to my company email through a third party pop mail server (@mail on pair.com) used for remote access to email.
My Issue:
email I receive on my Note 3 while remote does not persist on the device over time. I presume when I access those emails while at my office computer, the third party server at pair.com deletes them for remote access. Therefor, those emails are not really being downloaded to my device, rather, just displaying what is on the third party server at each sync point. I have a business need to keep remotely accessed email on my device until I choose to remove them. I have gone through every possible setting on my device to no avail. I am not a company admin on the pair.com site so I am not sure what settings are there that drive behavior with respect to my device client. If need be, I do know the site admin.
My question:
Is there something I'm missing here? Has anyone had this requirement for their device and knows how to configure settings to force true email downloads to the device, making them autonomous to the device for managing locally (i.e. Keep / Delete)?
BTW, I will be abandoning the stock client in favor of K-9 for other reasons - will I run into the same problem with K-9 settings/behavior?
Thanks
