Pictures in album not sorted well (date or name)

hi,
i like to view photos on my album but there is no options to arrange them by name or date.
they dont seem to be sorted at all.
that is quite annoying because when you view e.g. holiday photos you certainly want to view them in the order you shoot them
Is there already a way to do this? The pictures is my album are shown in reverse order, very annoying during slideshows.
They are ordered by modification (not creation) date (from most recent to older). so to order in the way you want is easy (if you don't have a bunch of pics ):
rename them (it's enough to add a single char to filename, and if you want you can delete it immediately after having saved the new filename: in other words double edit) starting with the older one, and you'll have your album reordered
[sarcasm]wow what a simple and elegant solution[/sarcasm]
....pfft
if you have a better one you're welcome
I resorted to Resco Photo Viewer. Very cool, after I found a way to move through the photos.
I can put my photos in any order I like and the slideshow is much smoother than in the default Album app.
I've noticed the same problem and sent the following to HTC yesterday: (I've pissed away so much time this week trying to sort this device out for use)
... The Photos & Videos viewer (as accessed from the TouchFlo Home screen) has some bugs. The are two known issues:
1) The scrolling only supports 99 photos. If more are loaded on the storage card, in the same folder, they will not show
2) It is not possible to set the order. Even when going into the folder settings and choosing to sort by file name, the programme will not sort correctly
The second of these issues is quite annoying and ask that you please look into a hotfix and notify users via the website and/or email
For those out there using Linux (and probably other *nix flavors, and probably those using cygwin under windows). You can change the modification date as a batch in a whole directory, using a simple bash script like this:
Code:
for i in `ls -r *.jpg` ; do touch -m $i ; sleep 1 ; echo $i ; done
This way, the pictures slideshow alphabetically (at least they do in my Blackstone
Hope that helps.

Send phone pics to a gallery (must have server)

The camera on the Incredible is by no means anything comparable to a good digital camera but for a phone I think it takes pretty good pictures.
OK, this is a really neat way to post your phone pics to an online gallery.
NOTE: you must have server access and basic knowledge about installing a simple script to the server.
It requires 2 programs.
1 a program called MG2 or MiniGal 2 available free here (they accept donations)
http://www.minigal.dk/mg2.html
A program available from the Android Market called "Instant Upload"
Both programs are relatively easy to set up providing you have server knowledge and access.
After the set up and installation is done, all you need is to open your explorer program on your phone (I use Root Explorer but Astro file manager works as well) and navigate to the folder where your pics are located, click on the pic and you will be given several options - One of which is "Instant Upload". You need to have Instant Upload configured to upload to the directory that you installed the gallery on your server.
Your photo is uploaded to the gallery but not live yet.
Next you need to go the your gallery page and log in, click on the "Import" icon at the top of the page and the thumbnail and image will be placed in the gallery automatically.
There are several options in the gallery set up, you can change skins, allow user comments on your photos, display xif information and many other options.
Here is a link to the gallery I set up to show you what the end result will be.
http://www.kooldezine.com/droid/
As you can see, the gallery will let you add folders to categorize your photos if needed.
Hope some of you find this useful.
I will try to answer any questions if needed.
I hate to burst your bubble, that cat pic was cool btw, but have you heard of Picasa?

Click to collapse
Not bursting my bubble, if you prefer Picasa that's fine with me.
Adobe has a nice program that's similar as well.
And for most people Picasa would also be a much easier route to take. But for me this is the way I like it.
I guess I'm just "Old School"

DropBox - upload pictures (duplicate)

I can’t find anymore the option to syncro only new pictures from my Note 3. I’ve installed an SD card with subfolders and DB is duplicating all of them in DB Camera Uploads folder. How can I stop this?
In the past there was an option "only new pictures" that, if flagged, was uploading only the pictures taken from that moment but in the 4.3 App it looks like they've removed it.
Any clue?
Previous mobile-DB version screenshot
Current mobile-DB version screenshot (no flag anymore)
Just got the DropBox answer on the issue: There currently isn't a setting in the app that lets you filter out pictures that had already been uploaded from another device.
Really?
If you would like us to give the option to filter out pictures that have been uploaded already, please feel free to make a feature request through our Votebox.
So, if you guys miss that option as me, please [URL="https://forums.dropbox.com/topic.php?id=105734]click here[/URL] and vote. You may vote more than once.

Hi All,

[idea/How-to/Tasker]Show today's date on the EdgeScreen text! (requires root)

The EdgeScreen text always bothered me. A static phrase just stuck on the side of my phone being utterly pointless... WELL NO MORE!
Inspired by Mirkohmm's thread on making the night clock permanent using CheatDroid, I noticed the EdgeScreen text is also in the pref_cache.xml so I set out to figure out how to make it useful. Here's what I came up with.
AUTOMATICALLY PUT TODAY'S DATE ON THE EDGESCREEN TEXT
[Disclaimer: If this borks yer phone, sorry. It shouldn't, but I can't give you any guarantee.]
Requirements: Tasker with *root* privileges
A file browser with root
Some sort of plain text editor (the ones included with Root Browser, ES File Explorer, Solid Explorer all work)
A willingness to reboot your phone daily. (I haven't figured out how to update the text without a reboot)
Steps
1. Make a copy of /data/data/com.samsung.android.app.cocktailbarservice/shared_prefs/pref_cache.xml
I put it in a safe location on my SDCard. Remember the location and you might want to make another backup copy since both the original and this one will be edited.
2. Tasker -> New Task
Action:
-Write File
File: /storage/extSdCard/somethingsomething/pref_cache.xml (put the location of your copied pref_cache.xml here)
Text: open pref_cache.xml in a text editor and copy/paste the entire contents here then scroll down to <string name="personal_message">SUPER EDGY EDGESCREEN TEXT HERE</string> and change it to
<string name="personal_message">%DATE</string>
Action:
-Copy File (you have to do it this way, thanks to a limitation of Tasker not being able to browse/modify root under certain conditions)
From: (browse to your saved copy of pref_cache.xml)
To: /data/data/com.samsung.android.app.cocktailbarservice/shared_prefs/pref_cache.xml (you will have to copy/paste/type this text, you can't browse to it)
Use Root: CHECKED!!
That's it! Run the task and reboot your phone and the EdgeScreen text should now have today's date!
So, here's how I have it set up:
Since the changes aren't visible until after a reboot, I have this task run every night at 12:30am. At midnight Titanium Backup runs a backup, clears app caches, and reboots, so once that is complete I have the new date on the EdgeScreen.
I've attached the tasks I use, one I found somewhere can format the dates most any way you like using javascript and outputs the formatted date as %MYDATE, and the other is my actual task like I have lined out above. Of course, file locations and stuff will have to be changed for your own use DO NOT RUN IT WITHOUT MODIFYING THE FILE LOCATIONS.
Whatcha think? If anyone can figure out how to update the text without rebooting, that would be awesome! My ideal would be to have the date and time, maybe even notification snippits, that way if I'm watching fullscreen video or playing a game that screen is at least showing me relevant info not just a cheesy phrase.
I might change it to put any calendar tasks I have for the day, or something similar... Let me know what you guys come up with!
