Send phone pics to a gallery (must have server) - Droid Incredible General

The camera on the Incredible is by no means anything comparable to a good digital camera but for a phone I think it takes pretty good pictures.
OK, this is a really neat way to post your phone pics to an online gallery.
NOTE: you must have server access and basic knowledge about installing a simple script to the server.
It requires 2 programs.
1 a program called MG2 or MiniGal 2 available free here (they accept donations)
http://www.minigal.dk/mg2.html
A program available from the Android Market called "Instant Upload"
Both programs are relatively easy to set up providing you have server knowledge and access.
After the set up and installation is done, all you need is to open your explorer program on your phone (I use Root Explorer but Astro file manager works as well) and navigate to the folder where your pics are located, click on the pic and you will be given several options - One of which is "Instant Upload". You need to have Instant Upload configured to upload to the directory that you installed the gallery on your server.
Your photo is uploaded to the gallery but not live yet.
Next you need to go the your gallery page and log in, click on the "Import" icon at the top of the page and the thumbnail and image will be placed in the gallery automatically.
There are several options in the gallery set up, you can change skins, allow user comments on your photos, display xif information and many other options.
Here is a link to the gallery I set up to show you what the end result will be.
http://www.kooldezine.com/droid/
As you can see, the gallery will let you add folders to categorize your photos if needed.
Hope some of you find this useful.
I will try to answer any questions if needed.

I hate to burst your bubble, that cat pic was cool btw, but have you heard of Picasa?

Not bursting my bubble, if you prefer Picasa that's fine with me.
Adobe has a nice program that's similar as well.
And for most people Picasa would also be a much easier route to take. But for me this is the way I like it.
I guess I'm just "Old School"

picture sharing options

Is there a way to change the order of the options under the SHARE button while viewing pictures? I don't use twitter or picasa or even Goggles to share pictures. I mostly use Dropbox and facebook and k-9 mail. Isn't there a way to move those options to the top and leave the others off or on the second page?
Thanks.
I've been researching this and what I've found out is:
Inside each App's APK is an AndroidManifest.xml that describes its intent to be in the SHARE menu.
That intent is managed by the system and so far that hasn't been any ability to modify the SHARE menu once it is populated.
The only moderate success has been by a few developers to modify the app's APK and edit the xml and then recompile the APK... very hit or miss depending on the app.
Therefore it is reasonable to say there is nothing yet available that can do this function... I'd like it also BTW.
blargh. :-(

Should be an easy question

Ok.. I use the Google+ app on my phone. But because it its not a web app, if I ever am on this network and I see some image that someone has posted which I like, many times I would love to be able to save to my phone. But because this an app, and not built for a browser, I can't just long-press and save it.
And obviously google has not as of yet built this functionality into this app in any other way.
BUT....after much poking and prodding in and to the google+ app, I notice that when you are viewing an image, you CAN set it as your desktop wallpaper!
But, once I set it as my wallpaper, I cannot find it! Using root explorer, I have searched for every .jpg, jpeg, .png, and .bmp and no dice. I have tried opening up quickpic (the free market app), and hit ”display hidden images” (which hides icons and other stuff you wouldn't want to see anyway), and look through EVERYTHING that is revealed...but still I cannot find it. Its on my desktop as the wallpaper, so it must be on the phone.
It is driving me crazy. Does anyone have any clue where a file like this might be stored? I imagine a wallpaper image could be anywhere in the sys partition or the sdcard, but it wouldn't need to be convertthan those above extensions I search on, right? So WTF? Where could it be?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

DropBox - upload pictures (duplicate)

I can’t find anymore the option to syncro only new pictures from my Note 3. I’ve installed an SD card with subfolders and DB is duplicating all of them in DB Camera Uploads folder. How can I stop this?
In the past there was an option "only new pictures" that, if flagged, was uploading only the pictures taken from that moment but in the 4.3 App it looks like they've removed it.
Any clue?
Previous mobile-DB version screenshot
Current mobile-DB version screenshot (no flag anymore)
Just got the DropBox answer on the issue: There currently isn't a setting in the app that lets you filter out pictures that had already been uploaded from another device.
Really?
If you would like us to give the option to filter out pictures that have been uploaded already, please feel free to make a feature request through our Votebox.
So, if you guys miss that option as me, please click here and vote. You may vote more than once.

Android OCR app recommendations

Can anyone recommend a good Android OCR app that will turn PDF scans into editable text reliably? I use CamScanner to scan documents, but I wasn't able to find an OCR ability (surprisingly). Also although Evernote does scan my pictures for text, it will not let you copy and paste that text, making it not useful for my purposes. I note that Google goggles will do ocr'ing of a pic for search purposes, but nt ideal for a whole doc. I'm looking for something that does the equivalent of what omnipro. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and suggestions.

A few months ago I tried couple of ocr apps and I liked two of them:
OCR Instantly (works offline, so the speed depends on your phone scecs, free version)
ABBYY text grabber (needs internet connection but in my opinion gives better results, 5.99$)
Make sure that you have enough light when taking photos, and that they are not blurry. In OCR instantly, you can change brightness/contrast of the photo before recognition. The point is to make it look like black font with smooth edges on white background as much as you can.
I see you're looking for a good OCR app, so I hope this helps.
I've recently made a quick OCR app that relies on Google's servers for accuracy. It does require an internet connection, but the whole process take less than 30 seconds. You can either take a picture of the document or select an image from your gallery and it'll extract the text from it. Please note that it has to be an image (eg .jpg .png, etc) not a PDF/Word Document.
You can check it out here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=website.olivermillers.visionocr
It's free BTW
Thanks,

QuickPic code share for storage increase

I wasn't aware of this app until it was pre-installed on a custom flash game in place of the default gallery.
I don't know how long they'll be around for, for such a massive photo storage cloud but the app has support for various other clouds and samba support as well. I initially wasn't that interested since I use Foldersync but I would like to try it out as my gallery for now, and that said it seemed I may as well get the bazillion Gig storage option. Doing it here keeps me from spamming my friends.
From the looks of it, you only need to get one referral, so if someone takes mine, please say so and repost a code assuming one is available, if not then I suppose its simply a good place for people to post who want space; referees get it as well therefore I'm unclear how it works in this regard.
Hey! I'm trying to get 1,000GB free cloud space, but I need your help!

So that's how you found quick pic? Party's over thanks to Cheetah Mobile. RIP quick pic, the once best and only gallery app.
EDIT: DON'T BOTHER WITH THE STORAGE, JUST UNINSTALL THE APP.

Thanks for the heads up. I hadn't read the store comments because indeed it is how I found it. The interface and functionality are still good. Hopefully I can neuter any services and permissions I don't like after moving it out of /system (and it irritates me that ROM cookers put things there at all).
It's been quite some time since I had a gallery app with a folder view that was complete and was also able to delete photos when I told it to. Hopefully I can either find something else or get this one to do all of the above after removing it from /system and installing normally.
I only briefly, just now, by the way, and I didn't find all the file sharing support it advertises, including Samba but assuming the cloud space is in fact upgradable, another layer of redundancy would be desirable.
We shall see how things turn out...
EDIT: Permissions were fine. New code since I used the one I posted
