I'm the author of rVoix app capable of recording the calls directly from line on msm7k-based devices (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=806451).
The problem which haunted me long was that my Hero just rebooted on each incoming call when I tried to use the "Auto-answer" mode in my app.
Recently, I've located the kernel bug behind that, but before I even tried to fix it, I found that the fix is already present in some kernels (notably, HTC tattoo).
In all newer HTC kernels it re-appeared both in 2.6.29 and all later versions .
So, I'd be very grateful if you include the patch I'm attaching here. The reason is that I'm now trying to implement some advanced auto-answering features which would be a waste of time as far as they'd work on a single Hero device (and on certain others).
Hope I'm not asking for too much.
Also, please have a look at our project http://code.google.com/p/rvoix: it has a branch by seo who managed to integrate the rvoix call recording in his Espresso ROM for Magic. The in-call recording controls (which are very inconvenient in my app) are built in Phone.apk directly, app settings -- in Settings.apk, etc.
Currently, the branch includes magic-specific smali patches, but he promised to write a review on how to integrate call recording features more conveniently.

Confirmed. Works like a charm.
CPUSpeed shut down after I booted your kernel, but I restarted it and it now works
Just out of interest, I remember using an app like this in 1.5 and 2.1, and it recorded the sound from the internal datastream iirc.
I can't remember the name, but this sounds interesting, though I personally don't record as many calls recently as I used to... will give it a shot though

Yes, in the beginning was the app called AirVoice, but its author seemed to close his project, and wouldn't respond to any pleas to share the code.
Anyhow, I used his key trick in my app.
i am having issues with viber on my hd2, i tried a lot of builds but it is the same issue.
so my question is, is there any one using viber with no issues on HD2????
I'm trying to, without any great success so far. As of today I'm using latest Hyperdroid CM7 2.3.7 ROM and latest Viber from the market. Yet after some time using viber, android phone app starts crashing leading to device hang. And ofc the only way to fix this is a cold reboot rendering Viber unusable for HTC HD2 running Hyperdroid (had the exact same issues with latest Hyperdroid GBX).
Maybe other roms have fix for this? If anyone have success on using Viber on HD2 please let me know, thanks!
Used it for many months with no issues. ROM version in my sig.

Hi,
This is a member of Viber's development team.
@yamensaleh - What is exactly your issue?
Do you have stock or custom ROM?

I have the same issues on my HD2. My ROM is the typhoon CM7
Hi,
The issue is after using viber the phone aplication (GSM) crash on diferent custom ROMS. In this moment my ROM is Xylograph Redux2 HD2 v1.3a.
Please not that Viber does not support HD2 (and that's because Android itself on HD2 is a custom ROM, and we don't officially support ROMs).
There is not much we can offer you as help - you'll have to contact the ROM developers and ask for their assistance in solving the incompatibility issues of Viber on HD2 ROMs.
Hi Viber Team,
This is a HD2 thread and since you post here I assume you are interested in our problem. I know Viber don’t officially support custom ROMs and that’s the reason I search for help here and not on Viber’s site. Please consider lots of HD2 users who love Viber and maybe you can offer your unofficially support.
Thanks
Well,
You know that if we had unlimited resources, we would certainly happily attend to everyone's bugs. The problem is that if we declare now that we officially support this custom ROM and that custom ROM, we would have to keep up with all the little changes and tweaks that ROM developers implement in their versions - and there are many of these every week usually - and that would not allow us to continue the development of other, more critical features and bug fixes.
Our manpower is limited and our resources not infinite unfortunately It has already happened in the past that bugs created by certain ROM developers (thus colliding with Viber) were fixed by the ROM developers themselves. Devoted users contacted them in forums like XDA and together they fixed the problem, that was sometimes very simple, yet caused Viber to not function.
Having said all this, we are willing to take a look at logs of Viber from the ROM and analyze it, however by no means can we guarantee we will have the time or resources to fix it anytime soon
You can contact me via Private Message and we'll discuss it there.
To all,
We (Viber) are about to release multilangual support for Viber at last!
Since we know that XDA's great advantage is having so many members from different places in the world, we would appreciate your help with translation to your personal language. This means adding missing translated lines, and confirming the existing translations previously added by users: http://translate.viber.com
Remember - we let the community of our users shape Viber and device what it looks like
If you have any questions please let me know. We thank you in advance,
the Viber Team.
I was using Viber on BoxMax 8.9 and i had several issues:
-force close on every call
-every call lasts about 2 min 15s max
-poor call quality even with Wi-Fi at 25MB/s.
Would appreciate Viber development for HD2.
I just installed version 2.1.4.588 on my HD2 (Typhoon CM7 ROM). So far I didn't have any problems. I tested calling a contact via Viber and then calling my HD2 via GSM. No freezes so far. I hope you dealt with the issues. Please confirm Viber Team
There is a problem in the updated version of viber v 2.1.4 ...all sound freezes after receiving incoming viber call, needs a reboot....using tytung nexus HD2 3.2a ....reverted back to version 2.1.2 it works fine with no problem....
Any 1 else having this issue

@marqoni95 and @tamba52 -
Have you tried uninstalling then reinstalling from Market?
If it still doesn't solve the problem, please note that at this stage we don't support custom ROMs with Viber. Running Viber on a custom ROM results in various side effects (sometimes total lack of functionality), but we can't afford to support all custom ROMs out there. We are continuously working to adapt Viber to more and more ROMS, but meanwhile - you might want to contact the ROM developer for further support - they may be able to resolve this issue.
@mousi -
Improvements were made (hence your positive experience so far), but as I explained above we still don't have the resources to attend fully to adapting Viber to HD2 ROM. We are glad it works more smoothly now on 2.1.4 than before
OK it seems I was wrong after all. I did try calling but I didn't answer the call. After trying that, it still has the same old problem. When I try to answer a regular phone call my phone hangs
i use viber with no problems it works with 2.3.5 but not with 4.0 roms , and they launched new version today try to update it..
enjoy
I use Viber from 6months with 2.3.1 and i have no problems. just updated my version to 2.3.5 and I'll see what happens

***IF YOU DO HAVE AN ISSUE YOU WOULD LIKE TO POST ABOUT, IT MAY BE HELPFUL TO INCLUDE KERNEL AND ROM DETAILS***
e.g. Official 2.3.5 B522 as base, Aurora ICS version 1.6, used 5.5.0.4 Recovery
CURRENT TESTING VERSION - 1.8
Issues:
-Sound from the speaker is scratchy and distorted, everytime the phone emits sounds - especially noticeable in notifications.
-The volume from the speaker is too loud on the lowest volume setting.
-Product name/model needs to be changed from 'msm7630_surf' to 'Huawei u8800' in build.prop
-SD card sometimes doesn't mount (requires restart to mount)
-No panorama mode in camera. ---stock camera app
-Gallery app crashes when selecting Edit (random, sometimes the photo editor works, sometimes crashes).
-Movie Studio crashes when adding in/out transitions.
-Camera app crashes when selecting any "face effect" in video mode. ---stock camera app
Notes:
I used the B522 official Huawei 2.3.5 as base, and then loaded version 1.6 over top of that using Recovery 5.5.0.4.
Archived Issues:
-The lights on the backlit keys don't work all the time, even when it's dark. [It appears this is by design. Use auto-brightness for the keys to light automatically.]
-Mobile Networks --> Network Operators is unable to search for networks (both automatically and manually). It says "Error While Searching for Networks". [Seems to have been fixed with 1.8]
-UI is generally quite laggy across the whole system [Seems a lot better with 1.8]
-It probably needs a "file explorer app" installed as stock so you don't have to manually transfer one via USB. [ES File Explorer added in version 1.8]
-Red border appears momentarily on occasion (usually when a sound is playing - also happens when unlock pin code is being entered) [Hasn't happened with version 1.8]
-Playback of music tracks does not automatically go to next track after previous track is finished. ---beyond pod; stock music player [Fixed in version 1.8]

I've only just loaded ICS on during the last few hours, so haven't had time to thoroughly test internet/browser. Will do eventually though.
The Ookla Speedtest app seemed to have good speeds. Although the upload speed seemed a little "out". It was up around the 1.7-1.8Mbps mark, when I know my upload speed is capped at 1.0Mbps.
Also, the mini graphs that show the upload and download speeds underneath the main "meter" was showing a weird streaky white block instead of the usual line graph. I wonder if others could test this too and report back.
I can add "slow internet" to the OP issue list if you like?
Can you explain it a little more for clarity?
Cheers.
i cant use any camera app, but stock one works just fine
Ookla Speedtest app gives me 100kbit/s down on a 2mbit/s internet connection.
When I press at the wifi it shows link speed 6Mbps.
Edit: speed ok after changing router
Great idea, I too have some issues I'd like to report but I'm unable due to the 10 posts limitations. Hopefully someone w/ access will bring this link to dzo's attention.
So far, the ones I think weren't reported yet:
No panorama mode in camera;
Gallery app crashes when selecting Edit (random, sometimes the photo editor works, sometimes crashes);
Movie Studio crashes when adding in/out transitions;
Camera app crashes when selecting any "face effect" in video mode;
Some background noise everytime the phone emits sounds - especially noticeable in notifications;
That seems to be it, will add more as I find them.

Nope, unfortunately not for me yet.
SourceForge is being a bit buggy for some people at the moment (including me). Others on the main Aurora thread have said that 1.7 has appeared on SourceForge for them, but for others it hasn't yet.
Waiting... waiting.... ;-)
EDIT: It appeared for me momentarily on SourceForge, but when I went to click to download it said the file was unavailable to download. dzo has just uploaded it to Google Code, so downloading now.
Sourceforge was with a strange behavior, but now seems to be fine.
Try now, I'm sure now you can
1.8 is out.
I actually went back to stock B522 for the moment, as I just found the 1.7 UI too laggy, but I might load 1.8 on now.
OK, installed 1.8 yesterday and I don't know if it is the ROM, or if I did something different to install it, but it appears to be running a lot smoother UI wise.
Sound from the speaker is still terrible though. It sounds to me like it could be a sampling rate incompatibility.

i have 2.3.5 firmware with stock 2.6.35.7 kernel. however i think due to difference in device and the port, it may not be possible.
mine is u9000 with MSM8225 chipset 2.3.5 firmware n .6.35.7 kernel
aurora is built for u8800 with MSM7230 chipset, similar firmware and kernel
however u8860, the source that aurora used, is with MSM8255 chipset, not sure about firmware and kernel.
read somewhere that ports are device specific, so to get it working on u9000, id have to port from aurora, and fix whatever that doesnt work.. correct me if i am wrong.. dev/porters please advise!
thanks!

New version at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1528084
Hi,
First of all, sorry for posting this in general forum, but as you can see this is my first post...
This is a snapshot of my work on bringing camera support to Tezet's Milestone2 ICS port.
This build is not intended for daily use. The camera crashes when changing mode to video or panorama, and when exiting Camera app (though this is not visible ). But preview is working (as far as I know this is better than Defy), and I took ~20 photos in a row without problems.
Regarding the build itself:
- it's based on CM9 snapshot from Feb 25
- there's a bug with contacts showing as "Unknown" in the dialer (while you dial). As far as I know it is the same on latest Defy builds, so I assume this is an upstream bug from CM9
- it may contain more (or less) bugs from Tezet's builds. It's simply different, though I use builds from my branch since early January on daily basis
- the fix for SIM lock pin is not included
- it should be possible to load this without factory reset on top of Tezet's builds and the other way around, though the last time I've tried this was two weeks ago...
- there's no need to wipe dalvik cache - the update script does this
The work is based on Atrix ICS camera support, with added overlay emulation.
What is working:
- live preview
- zooming
- flash
- focus
- exposure compensation etc
- taking photos
- ... probably not much more
What is not working:
- panorama shots
- video recording
- a lot more
Would anyone be brave enough to check it?
I highly recommend to do a nandroid backup before trying it.
Latest version for phones with European GB kernel:

Repository:

All the credits go to:
- Tezet, for the Milestone2 port
- tpruvot, Quarx2k, for their tremendous efforts on Defy support (and thus Milestone2)
- whole Atrix-Dev-Team, Raviprasad V Mummidi, zivan56 for their tremendous work on the camera driver
Guess I missed this thread because it is in General Not your fault though.
I will test it as soon as I got some spare time. Sounds promising.
Thanks a lot for your efforts!!
What about bluetooth and wi-fi tethering? Are they working? I'm asking since they are working on Defy's GB kernel build.
And it would be better if some MOD can move this to DEV section.
Can we wait with that moving till I reach 10 posts?
I have merged some tethering code from Defy. Havent tested it though. I think I would have to use Defy's wifi driver, not CM9 default for that to work.
Bluetooth is not here.
sounds good !!
hmm.. so that you can respond to ppl. That makes sense.
I have installed it. It works fine. The camera starts and works as indicated.
One problem that everyone is going to notice first up is that if you make an outgoing call to a contact, the dialer shows unknown and all outgoing calls accumulate under 'unknown'.
And yes, there is no bluetooth.
Regarding the dialer: that's what I wrote about in the first post... I think it's the same on Defy right now.
Okay. I don't know about Defy but it is working on Tezet's ROM.
BTW, thanks again for porting the Atrix camera fix to MS2.
It's working on Tezet's build, but it's a month older. It was working on mine before I polled CM9 changes last saturday. I'll look into this.

Hi,
This is a member of the Viber Development Team!
@Theplayernew -Using Viber on a customized ROM, may result in side effects. At this stage, due to the large variety of customized ROMs available, we support only the basic ones, such as CM7 and MIUI.
You can try to uninstall and reinstall Viber , or to find the proper customization which works best with Viber. Of course, returning your device back to it's original settings is the best option for compatibility.
Thank you,
Viber Team.
I remember Viber it was working good on version beta 1.0 on my hd2.

As allready some ppl stated on this forum, viber version 2.1.2 worked well in situation when cm7 based rom in combination drizztj v5.0 lib sound. But atm there isnt chance to use your, in my eyes great product Viber, its more hit or miss, mostly miss with newer version. I know Hd2 isnt android based product thats one of reason why we cant have proper support from your company but would be nice atleast for Hd2 Devs to know what was so drasticly changed that newer version wont work. More bigger problem is in lack of devs motivation to focus on this issues also, i respect their hardwork on bringing android world to hd2 phone but i cant agree as many state on there custom roms topics that everything works fine while there is open issue with Voip apps on phone.
P.s. Hd2 miui roms also have problem with voip apps like Viber

Viber 2.1.2 work ok but this version dont work in ics.The "strange" thing with newer version 2.1.6 is that it crashes only if you accept and answer in a call.If you are the caller it doenst crash
btw i know that hd2 is not a native android device but skype work ok without crash.

that`s the problem.in hd2 original state is windows mobile but not android
In cm7/aosp/ics/miui we use the same kernel
In gingerbread with version 2.1.2 and a "special" libaudio.so file with voip fix we dont have problem. This is the fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15657585&postcount=13509 that is included in libaudio.so for gingerbread and made 2.1.2 version compatible with hd2 but version 2.1.6 work only for outgoing calls. In ics we dont have libaudio.so file but skype work ok
If viber team have the time to find what special "magic" skype have or what changed from 2.1.2 to 2.1.6 version many people with hd2 would be thankfull to you
We hope to be able to devote the time and resources for this in the future, but unfortunately at this stage we can't really guarantee anything
The "drastic" changes you are referring to may be rooted in the fact that we have improved our voice engine. We are continuously working to improve Viber's sound quality, by improving or even switching voice engines. Most probably, there is lack of compatibility between the new version of our voice engine and the API of the microphone on HD2, running an Android Custom ROM.
If we have any news regarding this issue, we'll certainly let you know. We apologize for the inconvenience
You might want to stay in touch with the ROMs developers - they might be able to help you out in this regard.

Temporary solution
After a few days of searching & testing, I found a solution that may fit our needs while waiting for devs or viber team:
Materials:
- ROM MIUI stock, here
- libaudio.so, v5 in "No sound with BT", here, v2 not work, v3 not tested
- Viber 2.1.2.116554, here
How to: - I use cLK 1.5 & CWM 5.0
- Flash ROM (check the ROM thread, system 160M, I think)
- Flash the zip of libaudio.so
- Boot and install Viber, do NOT update (tested, not work)
What works:
- Viber sms (as usual)
- Viber call (phone and bluetooth tested), but check "What still buggy" below
- Gsm sms and call
What still buggy:
- On viber call, every ~40 seconds, we can hear but the other party cannot ==> Put "Hold" for a second and release will resolve the problem
- put "Speaker" on will hang the phone ==> reboot the phone
Let me know if you guys find something (think of replacing HD2 )
---------------edit 1-------------------
I installed the ROM again (wiped sys/cache/) but the problem came back!!! hang and no sound
sorry guys, it seems there is not yet a solution
I had the same issue with my viber in HD2 as well, at Hyperdroid when suddenly I found an update at the Market. Then it was foxed after another update shortly..I clearly didn't get what was the issue.

Did you mean you get through the problem? "Then it was FIXED..." I supposed?
I did test Hyperdroid with Viber, either latest version or 2.1.2, but no luck.
---------- Post added at 09:08 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:06 AM ----------
Latest Viber 2.1.6 works perfectly on this ROM
no hang, no interrupt so far for long call, after gsm call...
I will update with further test here
---------------edit 1--------------
the test i performed previously was with the same wife network for 2 phones, if phones connect to 2 different networks, problem seems to persist
-------- edit 2: solution ---------
Viber 2.1.2 works perfectly on Hyperdroid 5.9 with MagLdr (fikred kernel r2.16)
Tested for a week with call/sms, before/after gsm call, long/short calls.... --> no hang, good sound
Note:
- you must use MagLdr (test >10 ROMs including Hyperdroid with cLK but no luck)
- do a (very) clean install (task 29 prefer, erase android,viber... folders on SD card, format prefer)
- use Viber 2.1.2 (updated version sometimes hang)
------- edit 3: solution for cLK
- cLK 1.6.5 DP (search somewhere)
- used with Viber 2.1.2 in Hyperdroid v5.9 or v6, works OK (the rom itself sometimes hangs, probably due to cLK)
-------- edit 4 & 5: ICS
- cLK 1.6.5
- latest viber NOT works on ICS tosti (latest version 27/04/2012)
-------- edit 6: ICS
flash this package (the one for ICS) and you can call with Viber without problems (tested on AOPK 40 by Xylograph and NexusHD2 v2.4 by Tytung).
However, if you accept a viber call from other, your phone will hang until reboot (as known issue )
Hi folks,
i have problems with Viber (2.2.3) too on my HD2. I use MIUI on Android 2.3.7 with tytung r12.4 kernel.
After the phone call, i can call through Viber, but the speaker is quiet. Reboot will resolve it.
Any ideas?
Thank you.

Nice to see that someone is keeping this issue alive. I would also loved to see solution for this problem but unfortunately there isn't atm.

@bigworldcz and @maneken25 -
Hi,
As we explained before, please note that Viber does not officially support your device yet, and that may be the reason for the problems you are experiencing. Here is the full list of officially supported devices: http://bit.ly/Hm5k9p
We are continuously working to adapt Viber to more and more devices, and we hope to attend to the problems with your device soon. We apologize for the inconvenience.
If it's a ROM issue (meaning - it works just fine on Stock on that same device), then you might want to contact the ROM developer and see if they can help you through the problem.
Regards,
the Viber Team.
