call log grouping and phone slow startup

Hi,
I have CM 5.0.7 rom on my Black G1 with new radio 2.22.23.02. Since the day i had CM 5.0.7 i missed call log grouping which was in 4.2.15 and also the phone startup is 2-5 seconds slow... I can say app launch takes 2-5 seconds..When i receive a call it takes 5-6 secs to show up the contact inf.. Is there anyway to fix these issues ? I am using apps2sd also. Waiting for answers to fix it. Thank you

Try the new 5.0.8t4 (here)!
5.0.7 final was unusable slow for me - although all test builds ran smooth.
But 5.0.8t4 is incredible fast (and has some bugs sorted out too - eg: audio playing randomly)!! I'm very excited about this build!

Between: i use another phone.apk. I like the GUI from 5.0.7t3 more and pushed it on every new build version (i have no problems with it so far).

Thanks for the reply, can i just download phone.apk and move it to /system/app/ ? if i just move the app, will there be any issues ?

Sorry for answering late - but, yes. Just push the apk to system/app and replace the original file. Make a backup before! I didn't have any issues so far.
As for stable: IMHO 5.0.8t4 is more stable than 5.0.7!

i've updated to 5.0.8t4 and additionally i replaced the phone.apk but i still haven't a grouped call log
are there any further steps or suggestions .. thanks

Hi,
I pushed the apk in this attachment, but there is no difference. My call log is still not grouped like it was on CM 4.2.15
Will it be safe to push phone.apk from CM 4.2.15 to CM 5.0.7 ? But i don't have the phone.apk from CM 4.2.15... Hope somebody can help me group my calls like in CM 4.2.15 Currently i am using dialer one app for this grouping but i am not so impressed with it...

[Request] [Dev Needed] Call recording in Android for HD2

There are WM roms with built-in call auto recording feature that does a great job in call recording. For android, all apps does call recording via speaker phone instead of in call recording. AirVoice is the only app I know that does a perfect call recording within the call and not with speaker phone on. However, HD2 is not supported.
Now, other android devs for other devices are successful in achieving perfect call recording: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=806451
Is there any devs that can spare a few moment in making this to work on HD2?

I installed CallRecorder from the market. It works adequately for me. The other parties voice is a bit low though (since it doesn't use speaker).

Yes, I understand what you mean. The low volume is due to the recording method. Instead of recording directly from within the phone, it records using the phone's mic for both in and out voices. This makes the volume low for listening the other person's voice and very loud for my own speaking voice.

i oso hope tis will work on HD2~hope some1 manage to fix it~

any recent update of the 2 way call recording in android?

Looking for this as well.. Tested ALL Android apps i could find (free, trial, warez), and none have 2 way call recording without using speakerphone.
At the moment this is preventing me to switch to Android fully, because i need those calls logged and recorded..
Speakerphone works, but quality is just not as good, and there is a lot of noise in background. And, doesn't keep the conversation as private as it should..
Hope someone gets it to work..

It's not an HD2 specific request, Android simply does not support call recording, there's no API. It's a touchy subject because of privacy issues - yes, most other OS'es have it but that doesn't change anything, Google's wary about it.
Until this is changed - or custom bases like CM (they've actually been talking about it very recently) incorporate it, not gonna happen.

I'm sure on MIUI there's "call tools" and from there you can record?

Ah, I wasn't aware. MIUI is a custom base too though, which means that until other bases have this too, a MIUI rom is the only option of having call recording. Can't be done without changing the framework.

Oh well that sucks. MIUI is an amazing ROM/whatever it is.
If you don't mind me asking, are there any other custom base ROMs? New and want to try out some cool looking ROMs.

CM and MIUI are the most-spread custom bases. CM has a lot of 'sidebases', they're basically the same save for a few changes here and there.
DesireHD Sense for example is also another base, but not really custom.

I installed android a few days ago on NAND on hd2.
I was having the same problem, couldnt find a normal 2 way call recorder.
BUT I FOUND IT!
I merged some packs together into one file.
First install the .apk inside of it. If that doesnt work try to install one of the 3 zips.
It worked for me. . The other side is even louder than you, so should be able to be heard.

How and where to install these zip files

The link posted above is dead. Is there any other solution that works for HD2 with modern kernels like Fikret's 2.16 ?

2 Way Call Recording (2WCR) has been available for HD2 for a while now. Check Tytung's kernel thread for link to a working app. All recent kernels support the feature.

i have tried viber among other voip apps but they all seem to cause problems (slowness, freezing) in addition to the apps themselves being too slow and not working well.
was just wondering if any of you guys found a good voip that works on the hd2

The issue is not with viber, there is a sticky on libaudio issues in the NAND forum...
I use VoIP all the time, CSipSimple is my choice. But mind you, you need the right libaudio for ANY VoIP to with without slowing or freezing the phone.

I have good experience with Csipsimple as well. Works great.

I have a big problem with (Viber). When i make call with viber my phone get slow and i can't make a call again i have to restart it. First i think it,s from the SD Rom cause i try it all but the same problem and now i,m on Nand Rom and i have the same problem any help please

some discussions here, seems not yet a solution.
I was able to call without problem when switching ROM nexushd2 by Tytung to Typhoon, but then problem came back. Don't know why, maybe some apps also dislike Viber... just some idea

@Theplayernew -Using Viber on a customized ROM, may result in side effects. At this stage, due to the large variety of customized ROMs available, we support only the basic ones, such as CM7 and MIUI.
You can try to uninstall and reinstall Viber , or to find the proper customization which works best with Viber. Of course, returning your device back to it's original settings is the best option for compatibility.

I remember Viber it was working good on version beta 1.0 on my hd2.
Now its not working anymore...i will try earlier version if they're still working now

As allready some ppl stated on this forum, viber version 2.1.2 worked well in situation when cm7 based rom in combination drizztj v5.0 lib sound. But atm there isnt chance to use your, in my eyes great product Viber, its more hit or miss, mostly miss with newer version. I know Hd2 isnt android based product thats one of reason why we cant have proper support from your company but would be nice atleast for Hd2 Devs to know what was so drasticly changed that newer version wont work. More bigger problem is in lack of devs motivation to focus on this issues also, i respect their hardwork on bringing android world to hd2 phone but i cant agree as many state on there custom roms topics that everything works fine while there is open issue with Voip apps on phone.
P.s. Hd2 miui roms also have problem with voip apps like Viber

Viber 2.1.2 work ok but this version dont work in ics.The "strange" thing with newer version 2.1.6 is that it crashes only if you accept and answer in a call.If you are the caller it doenst crash
btw i know that hd2 is not a native android device but skype work ok without crash.

that`s the problem.in hd2 original state is windows mobile but not android
In cm7/aosp/ics/miui we use the same kernel
In gingerbread with version 2.1.2 and a "special" libaudio.so file with voip fix we dont have problem.This is the fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15657585&postcount=13509 that is included in libaudio.so for gingerbread and made 2.1.2 version compatible with hd2 but version 2.1.6 work only for outgoing calls.In ics we dont have libaudio.so file but skype work ok
If viber team have the time to find what special "magic" skype have or what changed from 2.1.2 to 2.1.6 version many people with hd2 would be thankfull to you

The "drastic" changes you are referring to may be rooted in the fact that we have improved our voice engine. We are continuously working to improve Viber's sound quality, by improving or even switching voice engines. Most probably, there is lack of compatibility between the new version of our voice engine and the API of the microphone on HD2, running an Android Custom ROM.
If we have any news regarding this issue, we'll certainly let you know. We apologize for the inconvenience

Anyway ty for feedback and in giving informations on possible source of issues. Its nice to see that some company have good crm. Our issue with voip app compatibility seems isnt going away so easy cause it isnt atm for any dev priority. But anyway again ty for feedback.

Temporary solution
After a few days of searching & testing, I found a solution that may fit our needs while waiting for devs or viber team:
Materials:
- ROM MIUI stock, here
- libaudio.so, v5 in "No sound with BT", here, v2 not work, v3 not tested
- Viber 2.1.2.116554, here
How to: - I use cLK 1.5 & CWM 5.0
- Flash ROM (check the ROM thread, system 160M, I think)
- Flash the zip of libaudio.so
- Boot and install Viber, do NOT update (tested, not work)
What works:
- Viber sms (as usual)
- Viber call (phone and bluetooth tested), but check "What still buggy" below
- Gsm sms and call
What still buggy:
- On viber call, every ~40 seconds, we can hear but the other party cannot ==> Put "Hold" for a second and release will resolve the problem
- put "Speaker" on will hang the phone ==> reboot the phone
Let me know if you guys find something (think of replacing HD2 )

I had the same issue with my viber in HD2 as well, at Hyperdroid when suddenly I found an update at the Market. Then it was foxed after another update shortly..I clearly didn't get what was the issue.

Did you mean you get through the problem? "Then it was FIXED..." I supposed?
I did test Hyperdroid with Viber, either latest version or 2.1.2, but no luck.

Latest Viber 2.1.6 works perfectly on this ROM
no hang, no interrupt so far for long call, after gsm call...

the test i performed previously was with the same wife network for 2 phones, if phones connect to 2 different networks, problem seems to persist

Viber 2.1.2 works perfectly on Hyperdroid 5.9 with MagLdr (fikred kernel r2.16)
Tested for a week with call/sms, before/after gsm call, long/short calls.... --> no hang, good sound
Note:
- you must use MagLdr (test >10 ROMs including Hyperdroid with cLK but no luck)
- do a (very) clean install (task 29 prefer, erase android,viber... folders on SD card, format prefer)
- use Viber 2.1.2 (updated version sometimes hang)
------- edit 3: solution for cLK
- cLK 1.6.5 DP (search somewhere)
- used with Viber 2.1.2 in Hyperdroid v5.9 or v6, works OK (the rom itself sometimes hangs, probably due to cLK)
-------- edit 4 & 5: ICS
- cLK 1.6.5
- latest viber NOT works on ICS tosti (latest version 27/04/2012)
-------- edit 6: ICS
flash this package (the one for ICS) and you can call with Viber without problems (tested on AOPK 40 by Xylograph and NexusHD2 v2.4 by Tytung).
However, if you accept a viber call from other, your phone will hang until reboot (as known issue )

Hi folks,
i have problems with Viber (2.2.3) too on my HD2. I use MIUI on Android 2.3.7 with tytung r12.4 kernel.
After the phone call, i can call through Viber, but the speaker is quiet. Reboot will resolve it.
Any ideas?

Nice to see that someone is keeping this issue alive. I would also loved to see solution for this problem but unfortunately there isn't atm.

It happens to me too. In the last versions of Viber, I can hear the people on the other side, but people only hear weird noises.
Until v2.3.2 it works for me, which is the version I have installed. I cannot upgrade.

Viber has updated a lot of things, but has broken a lot of things as well.
This is problem with the application, not the rom. You must report it to the application developers.
By the way, you can use Tango. It is better than Viber!

Also the apps "LINE" encounter this problem.

I have the same problem with CSIPSimple, Viber, etc... (Aurora 5u20 and AuroraSP 3CE). Do you have any ideas?
