[Q] Request for kernel/ROM developers - Hero, G2 Touch General

I'm the author of rVoix app capable of recording the calls directly from line on msm7k-based devices (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=806451).
The problem which haunted me long was that my Hero just rebooted on each incoming call when I tried to use the "Auto-answer" mode in my app.
Recently, I've located the kernel bug behind that, but before I even tried to fix it, I found that the fix is already present in some kernels (notably, HTC tattoo).
In all newer HTC kernels it re-appeared both in 2.6.29 and all later versions .
So, I'd be very grateful if you include the patch I'm attaching here. The reason is that I'm now trying to implement some advanced auto-answering features which would be a waste of time as far as they'd work on a single Hero device (and on certain others).
Hope I'm not asking for too much.
Also, please have a look at our project http://code.google.com/p/rvoix: it has a branch by seo who managed to integrate the rvoix call recording in his Espresso ROM for Magic. The in-call recording controls (which are very inconvenient in my app) are built in Phone.apk directly, app settings -- in Settings.apk, etc.
Currently, the branch includes magic-specific smali patches, but he promised to write a review on how to integrate call recording features more conveniently.

Confirmed. Works like a charm.
CPUSpeed shut down after I booted your kernel, but I restarted it and it now works

Just out of interest, I remember using an app like this in 1.5 and 2.1, and it recorded the sound from the internal datastream iirc.
I can't remember the name, but this sounds interesting, though I personally don't record as many calls recently as I used to... will give it a shot though

Yes, in the beginning was the app called AirVoice, but its author seemed to close his project, and wouldn't respond to any pleas to share the code.
Anyhow, I used his key trick in my app.

[Request] [Dev Needed] Call recording in Android for HD2

There are WM roms with built-in call auto recording feature that does a great job in call recording. For android, all apps does call recording via speaker phone instead of in call recording. AirVoice is the only app I know that does a perfect call recording within the call and not with speaker phone on. However, HD2 is not supported.
Now, other android devs for other devices are successful in achieving perfect call recording: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=806451
Is there any devs that can spare a few moment in making this to work on HD2?
Thanks to all devs for making Android runs on HD2
+1 for this request.. generally I have to switch to WM6.5 for this basic feature

I installed CallRecorder from the market. It works adequately for me. The other parties voice is a bit low though (since it doesn't use speaker).

Yes, I understand what you mean. The low volume is due to the recording method. Instead of recording directly from within the phone, it records using the phone's mic for both in and out voices. This makes the volume low for listening the other person's voice and very loud for my own speaking voice.
i oso hope tis will work on HD2~hope some1 manage to fix it~
any recent update of the 2 way call recording in android?
Looking for this as well.. Tested ALL Android apps i could find (free, trial, warez), and none have 2 way call recording without using speakerphone.
At the moment this is preventing me to switch to Android fully, because i need those calls logged and recorded..
Speakerphone works, but quality is just not as good, and there is a lot of noise in background. And, doesn't keep the conversation as private as it should..
Hope someone gets it to work..
It's not an HD2 specific request, Android simply does not support call recording, there's no API. It's a touchy subject because of privacy issues - yes, most other OS'es have it but that doesn't change anything, Google's wary about it.
Until this is changed - or custom bases like CM (they've actually been talking about it very recently) incorporate it, not gonna happen.
I'm sure on MIUI there's "call tools" and from there you can record?

Ah, I wasn't aware. MIUI is a custom base too though, which means that until other bases have this too, a MIUI rom is the only option of having call recording. Can't be done without changing the framework.

Oh well that sucks. MIUI is an amazing ROM/whatever it is.
If you don't mind me asking, are there any other custom base ROMs? New and want to try out some cool looking ROMs.

CM and MIUI are the most-spread custom bases. CM has a lot of 'sidebases', they're basically the same save for a few changes here and there.
DesireHD Sense for example is also another base, but not really custom.

I installed android a few days ago on NAND on hd2.
I was having the same problem, couldnt find a normal 2 way call recorder.
BUT I FOUND IT!
I merged some packs together into one file.
First install the .apk inside of it. If that doesnt work try to install one of the 3 zips.
It worked for me. . The other side is even louder than you, so should be able to be heard.

Has anyone tried this app? Feedback please

The link posted above is dead. Is there any other solution that works for HD2 with modern kernels like Fikret's 2.16 ?
2 Way Call Recording (2WCR) has been available for HD2 for a while now. Check Tytung's kernel thread for link to a working app. All recent kernels support the feature.
Swyped from my HTC HD2 (ICS 4.0.4)

Aurora ICS 4.03 port issues list.

Firstly, a big thanks to fellow kiwi developer "dzo" for this great port!
Official dev thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1492957
I'm unable to post in the dev section until I have 10 posts, so I thought I would start an issues thread here for people who also haven't made 10 posts yet.
***IF YOU DO HAVE AN ISSUE YOU WOULD LIKE TO POST ABOUT, IT MAY BE HELPFUL TO INCLUDE KERNEL AND ROM DETAILS***
e.g. Official 2.3.5 B522 as base, Aurora ICS version 1.6, used 5.5.0.4 Recovery
CURRENT TESTING VERSION - 1.8
Issues:
-Sound from the speaker is scratchy and distorted, everytime the phone emits sounds - especially noticeable in notifications.
-The volume from the speaker is too loud on the lowest volume setting.
-Product name/model needs to be changed from 'msm7630_surf' to 'Huawei u8800' in build.prop
-SD card sometimes doesn't mount (requires restart to mount)
-No panorama mode in camera. ---stock camera app
-Gallery app crashes when selecting Edit (random, sometimes the photo editor works, sometimes crashes).
-Movie Studio crashes when adding in/out transitions.
-Camera app crashes when selecting any "face effect" in video mode. ---stock camera app
Notes:
I used the B522 official Huawei 2.3.5 as base, and then loaded version 1.6 over top of that using Recovery 5.5.0.4.
Archived Issues:
-The lights on the backlit keys don't work all the time, even when it's dark. [It appears this is by design. Use auto-brightness for the keys to light automatically.]
-Mobile Networks --> Network Operators is unable to search for networks (both automatically and manually). It says "Error While Searching for Networks". [Seems to have been fixed with 1.8]
-UI is generally quite laggy across the whole system [Seems a lot better with 1.8]
-It probably needs a "file explorer app" installed as stock so you don't have to manually transfer one via USB. [ES File Explorer added in version 1.8]
-Red border appears momentarily on occasion (usually when a sound is playing - also happens when unlock pin code is being entered) [Hasn't happened with version 1.8]
-Playback of music tracks does not automatically go to next track after previous track is finished. ---beyond pod; stock music player [Fixed in version 1.8]

I've only just loaded ICS on during the last few hours, so haven't had time to thoroughly test internet/browser. Will do eventually though.
The Ookla Speedtest app seemed to have good speeds. Although the upload speed seemed a little "out". It was up around the 1.7-1.8Mbps mark, when I know my upload speed is capped at 1.0Mbps.
Also, the mini graphs that show the upload and download speeds underneath the main "meter" was showing a weird streaky white block instead of the usual line graph. I wonder if others could test this too and report back.
I can add "slow internet" to the OP issue list if you like?
Can you explain it a little more for clarity?
Cheers.
i cant use any camera app, but stock one works just fine
Ookla Speedtest app gives me 100kbit/s down on a 2mbit/s internet connection.
When I press at the wifi it shows link speed 6Mbps.
Edit: speed ok after changing router
Great idea, I too have some issues I'd like to report but I'm unable due to the 10 posts limitations. Hopefully someone w/ access will bring this link to dzo's attention.
So far, the ones I think weren't reported yet:
No panorama mode in camera;
Gallery app crashes when selecting Edit (random, sometimes the photo editor works, sometimes crashes);
Movie Studio crashes when adding in/out transitions;
Camera app crashes when selecting any "face effect" in video mode;
Some background noise everytime the phone emits sounds - especially noticeable in notifications;
That seems to be it, will add more as I find them.

Nope, unfortunately not for me yet.
SourceForge is being a bit buggy for some people at the moment (including me). Others on the main Aurora thread have said that 1.7 has appeared on SourceForge for them, but for others it hasn't yet.
Waiting... waiting.... ;-)
EDIT: It appeared for me momentarily on SourceForge, but when I went to click to download it said the file was unavailable to download. dzo has just uploaded it to Google Code, so downloading now.
Sourceforge was with a strange behavior, but now seems to be fine.
Try now, I'm sure now you can
1.8 is out.
I actually went back to stock B522 for the moment, as I just found the 1.7 UI too laggy, but I might load 1.8 on now.
OK, installed 1.8 yesterday and I don't know if it is the ROM, or if I did something different to install it, but it appears to be running a lot smoother UI wise.
Sound from the speaker is still terrible though. It sounds to me like it could be a sampling rate incompatibility.

It's really weird because sound is only distorted when played through that back-speaker.

i have 2.3.5 firmware with stock 2.6.35.7 kernel. however i think due to difference in device and the port, it may not be possible.
mine is u9000 with MSM8225 chipset 2.3.5 firmware n .6.35.7 kernel
aurora is built for u8800 with MSM7230 chipset, similar firmware and kernel
however u8860, the source that aurora used, is with MSM8255 chipset, not sure about firmware and kernel.
read somewhere that ports are device specific, so to get it working on u9000, id have to port from aurora, and fix whatever that doesnt work.. correct me if i am wrong.. dev/porters please advise!
thanks!

[ICS][ALPHA] CM9 with (somewhat) working camera for Milestone 2

New version at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1528084
Hi,
First of all, sorry for posting this in general forum, but as you can see this is my first post...
This is a snapshot of my work on bringing camera support to Tezet's Milestone2 ICS port.
This build is not intended for daily use. The camera crashes when changing mode to video or panorama, and when exiting Camera app (though this is not visible ). But preview is working (as far as I know this is better than Defy), and I took ~20 photos in a row without problems.
Regarding the build itself:
- it's based on CM9 snapshot from Feb 25
- there's a bug with contacts showing as "Unknown" in the dialer (while you dial). As far as I know it is the same on latest Defy builds, so I assume this is an upstream bug from CM9
- it may contain more (or less) bugs from Tezet's builds. It's simply different, though I use builds from my branch since early January on daily basis
- the fix for SIM lock pin is not included
- it should be possible to load this without factory reset on top of Tezet's builds and the other way around, though the last time I've tried this was two weeks ago...
- there's no need to wipe dalvik cache - the update script does this
The work is based on Atrix ICS camera support, with added overlay emulation.
What is working:
- live preview
- zooming
- flash
- focus
- exposure compensation etc
- taking photos
- ... probably not much more
What is not working:
- panorama shots
- video recording
- a lot more
Would anyone be brave enough to check it?
I highly recommend to do a nandroid backup before trying it.
Latest version for phones with European GB kernel:

Latest version for all other phones:

If your phone is stuck on red Moto logo, it means you have chosen a wrong version and you need to recover your phone from the SBF file.
Repository:
repo init -u git://github.com/rondoval/android.git -b ics
All the credits go to:
- Tezet, for the Milestone2 port
- tpruvot, Quarx2k, for their tremendous efforts on Defy support (and thus Milestone2)
- whole Atrix-Dev-Team, Raviprasad V Mummidi, zivan56 for their tremendous work on the camera driver
Guess I missed this thread because it is in General Not your fault though.
I will test it as soon as I got some spare time. Sounds promising.
Thanks a lot for your efforts!!
What about bluetooth and wi-fi tethering? Are they working? I'm asking since they are working on Defy's GB kernel build.
And it would be better if some MOD can move this to DEV section.
Can we wait with that moving till I reach 10 posts?
I have merged some tethering code from Defy. Havent tested it though. I think I would have to use Defy's wifi driver, not CM9 default for that to work.
Bluetooth is not here.
sounds good !!
hmm.. so that you can respond to ppl. That makes sense.
I have installed it. It works fine. The camera starts and works as indicated.
One problem that everyone is going to notice first up is that if you make an outgoing call to a contact, the dialer shows unknown and all outgoing calls accumulate under 'unknown'.
And yes, there is no bluetooth.
Regarding the dialer: that's what I wrote about in the first post... I think it's the same on Defy right now.
Okay. I don't know about Defy but it is working on Tezet's ROM.
BTW, thanks again for porting the Atrix camera fix to MS2.
It's working on Tezet's build, but it's a month older. It was working on mine before I polled CM9 changes last saturday. I'll look into this.

Will be hoping that the wrinkles can be ironed out and we can have a better functioning CM9. And we may soon come out of ALPHA stage and move to BETA.
I noticed that there is no file manager in your build.
tested. camera working fine with preview and taking photo.
@sahilarora911:yep, there is no file manager...
This is really nice!
Did someone test mobile hotspot/wifi tether? if not would someone? ^^

Call recording - feature in CM11 nightlies

Some nightlies ago, call recording feature was introduced in CM11.
http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/69850/
For legal reasons, this isn't enabled by default.
To enable it, edit build.prop and reboot.
Code:
persist.call_recording.enabled=true
persist.call_recording.src=4
You will get a recording button while in a call. Playback of records can be done in call history.
Please report if it works.
Notice that it will work only for newer ROMs (mostly nightlies)

note that I have not tried yet as I am currently not on nightly.

Yea, this isn't working :/

[ DEVICE : N5 ] [ ROM : CrDROID ] [ KERNEL : BIGBUM ]
There are 2 xposed modules to enable this feature without the 2 lines above, doing so on CM11S will do nothing, and you will see in xposed log an error that it was not successful, which is logical because this has not been integrated in CM11S (and i guess it will not, as most of the countries were OnePlus is sold prohibit call recording).
on CM11 builds after nightly 14/08 it will show an extra button.
so...
- If you are using CM11S (the official OnePlus ROM), this will NOT work
- If you are using CM11 monthly (currently M9), this will NOT work
- If you are using CM11 nightly after 20140814, this will show the extra button, will it work? i haven't tried recording.. yet
The values stayed there after a reboot...
Too bad xposed is required, I don't use it and this feature would definitely not justify installing it.
Sept 2nd buid doesn't have the properties in it.
But I can't test any further cause I don't have this phone any more (sold it^^ too big)
This thread may be interesting:
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/cm11s-will-be-internal-2-way-call-recording-possible.3297/
i'd also like to see this functionality on the 11s
Be warned, if the person on the other end is in some states or countries, recording them without consent is illegal.
Guys will the OnePlus have call recording built in eventually so an app isn't needed?

Most likely not officially because it's illegal in many countries.

Yes, you can do it easily by installing the Xposed module RecEnabler
You dont need xposed module.
You need what OP edited, and call record program. You can find it here on xda. It will work fine with caf root methood, select bacon(!) not oneplus from list or you will have distortion. This is for nighly.
Users confirmed Boldbeast call Recorder works very well for CM11 on many phones, for example
http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...corder-galaxy-htc-t2923904/page3#post57087069
Boldbeast call Recorder works perfectly for the stock One Plus One ROM (need root), I guess the app works also for CM11 on One Plus One. Can anyone please test it? Thanks.

Question Enable Auto Phone Call Recording

Hello to everyone,
I hope someone could help me, i need to record any phone call that i make/receive, the phone should record the call without messages to the caller about the phone call is recorded.
Did someone can tell me how can i do this? i have seen that one option is to root the device but if someone have other suggestion is better for me than root the device.
I have also tried this app: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...cord-phone-calls-from-the-phone-line.1441643/ but use the microphone so sometimes there are very noise.
Bye

Yes. I am in the same situation. The only things I can think of are, 1. A call recorder app. or, 2. Using a different dialer, say from a Oneplus phone. But I'm still looking into it. I have been using a call recorder app that seems to work somewhat okay but not that great.
I Hope Simeone could help US..
I have also seen that changing the phone app Is not the solution because some apps uses CSC

That's good to know because I was going to try it. The thing is, depending on what version you have, call recording is built in. So that tells me that all variants could have it built in maybe ? Not sure but I am continuing to do research when I have the time.
Yes, I think that every android phone have this functionality, the problem is that phone app use CSC to enable o not, this is what I have understand

I know that on some newer OnePlus phones you can change the dialer to get call recording. I would think that the Nothing Phone would be similar but at this point I'm totally unsure.

I also read that you can root the phone and use a magisk mod. But I'm not ready to root the phone just yet because it's still under warranty.

Same for me, i don't want to root my phone just for the call recording... but yes, there is this mod that seems really simple....
GitHub - jacopotediosi/GAppsMod: Tweak Google apps (e.g., Phone and Messages) to unlock hidden features (e.g., available only in some countries or on certain devices). Root is required.

In India you can legally record calls. I wonder if the dialer from those ROMS would world on the global versions.
@rogerrulez, i don't know if the dialer of the indian phone it's unlocked or if check also the CSC of the phone....
We could try this:
Enable Native Call Recording + OP Stock Dialer on OnePlus 10 Pro
Hi guys, Just upgraded from OP7T to OP10 Pro as a European user. Call recording functionality does not come with the device here. Had native call recording enabled on my OP7T through jOnePlus Tools and the likes. Jtools Oneplus does not install...

I tried to install it already but it won't install. Says phone needs to be rooted. But now that I'm thinking about it, I did install that app on a non rooted oneplus 7t before. Just have to give it permission via ADB. I think i might try it again and see if I can get it to install..
Correction. I tried to install just the joneplustools. This one is different.

Yeah, the joneplus tools says: can't install on this device. This app says: "something went wrong. Can't install app".
@rogerrulez
Damn... so i think the last chance is to root the device, but for now i don't want and i still to use the SKVALEX app...
Please keep me updated if you find a way to do this :-D

Not really. I do have two apps installed that are recording calls pretty good ! One of them I installed from Google play called Call recorder. And the other one is one that I came across in one of the posts for the Nothing phone. I have both running at the same time and both are recording calls pretty good. However, I would rather have the inbuilt option.
I'm from Italy and have Nothing Phone for a couple of weeks now so I may be missing something.
I've tried ACR, a well thought app for call recording, but unfortunately it doesn't record bluetooth calls (earphone or car's) so as a couple of other apps. I guess it's a problem that every third party app is having, given Google policy.
So, I'm using the Google phone app call recording utility (upper right corder three dots > settings > call recording). This option has popped out the first time I put in the sim card. I suppose everyone can access this option but with Google you never know...
This makes available a button on the phone screen, a switch between call recording and not recording. Actually, it's only manageable when the call is started and it's available switching in the second screen of the app.
Overall it works pretty well, even on Bluetooth calls. The calls are accessible via the call log history and can de saved. The only drawdown is that you have to put a meaningful name to the file when saving it.
What drives me CRAZY is that it doesn't have the option to ALWAYS record the calls. Apparently, it's an available option (Google has a help page dedicated: https://support.google.com/phoneapp/answer/9803950?hl=en) but not for the Italian version. Or at least for my version
Does anyone know if and how I can make it a permanent choice? I don't want to manually switch it every time...
Any help is very appreciated

You could use MacroCroid. It can press the button for you and fill in the name for you too. You need a fair amount of time to set it up but it would work good.

Thanks for the tip! I thought the same and tried something similar yesterday (Tasker and another app, forgot the name) but gave up for the amount of time needed!
Going to try MacroCroid anyway, hopefully it's a little bit less complicate
Thanks again

You might like to share the macro you build here and change the title to [Solved] enable auto phone call recording
I love to help, have fun!
