Hi All
Just want to know baz my phone hung again today when I lunch MSNroid. I have to open the case(I added on), take off the back cover, take out the battery and put everything back on.
On the iphone we can hold homekey and power to do the reset.
Is there any way (key combine) to reset the X10 instead of take out the battery. I know we can do shutoff the phone blabla... but what if the phone hung?
Like nearly every other electronic device, holding the power button for 10 seconds should do the trick.

I don't think so. I tried... the light near that three key on and off but not really shutdown.
Really weird! It's worked for me before, but now trying it again, nothing happens.
Maybe because the phone is responsive? If it's in a crashed state, it should reset. It's the magic way to turn off nearly every electronic device out there.

Had my htc a few months now, has been working perfectly, but I hit a problem recently, the power button is no long responsive, in fact it seems as if it's constantly "on" pressing it does nothing whilst the device is running, and when i restart my phone i get a window saying "You will lose any saved work if you choose to shut down" (or whatever it normally it says when you turn the phone off). Now as you can imagine this is quite frustrating, I can return the phone from stand by removing and replacing the stylus, but it's also constantly draining battery (it now lasts less than 8 hrs with nothing running).
Any ideas?

TC,
You probably should send it in under warranty if you can. If not, you might have to open it and take a look and see where exactly is the powerbutton getting jammed.
Cheers.
please plugin ur charge oringinal not usb synch CP.AFTER 10min check ur device
Does that help? I've got the same problem, and I've read the six or so other threads on power button problems, but to no avail.
I lost my original power cable - I would buy one if it would fix the problem.
Cheers for any help, I feel like my phone's broken an arm!
I had the same problem. I was told to slide a thin card like a playing card under the plastic power button and gently open the gap slightly enough for you to blow hard under the button. Try blowing all around under the button from all angles. Gently lifting up button slightly. Let me know if it helps. Worked for me.
i have same problem it hapen when i have the phone couple days without batery inside strange anyone know how to fix it ? to be more funny i go to repair center not official and it start working propely ''magic hands'' after couple hours go back to switch on all the time i did open my device is without warranty clean the buton and staff and still the same
confused
gays good news i get my one fixt on the power buton you have black tape if you removed my one works now prfect just if somone want to open his hd
regards
Any body have this issue. When ever the phone is on and I need to pull the battery for whatever reason, it will not turn on when I put the battery back in.
If I wait and turn off the phone before taking out the battery it is fine though.
How I get it back on is a problem itself. It would take me upwards of 20 min of just pressing the power button x amount of time, removing the battery and charging it.
This isn't even happening when I am out of battery. I would have 90% left
Also sometime it looks like it tries to turn on, display the black screen with HTC logo and displays the radio... then it just keeps on rebooting itself. Never actually fully booting.

sounds like you are abusing your phone. dont mash buttons that many times, you are hurting it.
take the battery out, hold the power key for 10 seconds, let go. then put battery in, and press power key once.
if this doesnt work, get an iphone
I've read a few posts similar to this.
Solution: Once battery is out, leave out for 15-30 mins, reinstall battery WITHOUT turning device on, plug in power supply, wait an additional 5-10 mins before turning back on. Works for others.
OK will try this. Is there a reason why this always happend when I pull the battery though?
Also, check your pins. One of them may be bent.

Ok this way seem to work. Thanks
There wasn't any bent pins on it though. I thought that this was just one of the flaws of running Android on the HD2.
Because I never had an issue with pulling the battery and it not powering on while it was on the stock WIMO
thanks guys! it worked.
why do people continue to pull the battery? i think i've ever only pulled the battery once in the 3 months i've been flashing roms and testing builds. reset buttons always works for me. don't want to get them pins bent!
My Polaris seems dead.
No response with the following key combination:
# power button
# reset button
# reset + ie + mail buttons (Hard Reset)
# reset + camera buttons (bootloader)
I removed the battery during 1 hour.
I have no led indication when I connect the device with power adapter.
What can I do?
I have the same problem with my phone from time to time. When I push the soft restart button nothing happens. When I plug it in no led light, or it flashes red. Which means battery is less than dead.
What I find that works for me when this happens is to plug the phone in, and keep pushing the soft reset button while hitting the power button at the same time. You will eventually get that vibrate you do when the phone powers on.
Thats at least what has worked for me for the past few months with my vogue. Give it a shot, nothing to loose Good luck

Happen to me too last month, every combination with no luck.
Thanks god my son was throw the phone to the floor. And suddenly the phone is back from the dead..
Maybe some of your hardware is not really tight up each other. Specially the power button.

Try holding power and volume up for around 10 seconds to see if it will reboot.

It vibrates once but still nothing happens
You may have to send back. Sounds like it could be a hardware fault.
I had a Lumia 625 that was doing the something similar. Taking the back off and replacing it worked as temporary fix.
I think it was the switch and button not quite lining up, but slotting in a small piece of plastic above the switch cable fixed it.
So I just got my PH-1 tonight, what a nice looking phone.
Well, what happened was I used the phone for about 2 hours, just getting my account and things all set up, I then seen there was the latest security update but couldn't take it because the battery was low (35%). I went and plugged it in and when I did I decided to make a call. While I was on the phone it just died (incall 5min), I did notice the top of the phone on the back was very hot..... Is it dead?
Tried forced reset (holding just power)
Also this with power down and tried all buttons
I didn't try smashing it on the ground though :cyclops:
If you take out the SIM will it boot?

Just curious, how long did you hold down the power button? It takes a lot longer than any other phone that I've had to do a hard reset like that. Longer than I feel necessary. If nothing happens after 30 seconds, does anything happen when you do plug it up to a charger? Do you get the charging image on a black screen?
With sim out it still does not boot.
I held the buttons down for way longer than 30sec.
I'm taking it back later today, hopefully they can fix/replace it.
*** so apparently when you buy online from Koodo in Canada, you need to return it through the mail aswell, i cant just goto a store and get it replaced!!!!!! ***
