I woke up this morning and the signal was good and strong. Then at 10 am there was no signal on the phone. Tried to get a signal outside and no luck. I called T-mobile but they don't really know what is going on. I tried flashing another radio to see if it was the radio and still same problem. Hmmm what could be the problem I am in New York. Any one else experiencing a signal problem? Or if anyone had this problem before and fixed it. Any help is appreciated.
You aren't getting anything? No 3G, Edge or just regular?
Nothing no 3G no Edge nor phone works its stays on searching
hard reset doesn't work either?
Nope ^^ tried removing battery, hard reset, changing radios, and manually choosing carrier... I will try the sim card in another phone to see if its the phone
Call tech support back they told my brother they have had several of these calls but no one called them back after they told them to go change their sim card.
We tried the SIM card in another phone and same thing-no signal. So he went to T-mobile store and was issued a new SIM. Still no signal. In my brother's case it has to be an account problem so your best bet is to start there. Maybe try a SIM from another account, even one from ATT should work.
Got it working Thank you all for the advice. Apparently it was a sim card problem. I got a new sim card and I am up and running ^^

I have a Qtek 9100 running the latest ROM and radio, etc on the Cingular network. The other day I get no signal, and reboot do not fix the problem. I take the sim card, and put it in a different phone. The other phone gets a signal, but says I can make emergency calls only. After about an hour on the phone with a Cingular rep I agree to drive to the store and get a replacement card. The replacement card fixed the problem. 4 days later, I am back to the same problem. The cingular rep is now blaming the phone after they can't figure out whats wrong. He is telling me the phone is "Zapping" the sim card. I find this hard to believe, but has anyone had this problem before? Has anyone ever tried to do an RMA with Qtek? Any help would be great, as i'm ready to put this 9100 on ebay and be done with it, unless an RMA with Qtek is worth it.
Happened to me last week with my 9100 (still running the original ROM). Got a new SIM and it's been running fine since.
i've had my 9100 rom on my 8125 for acout 2 weeks now without any major problems. the only problem I have is that it switches back and forth from gprs to edge a lot, but it doesn't bother me.
have you tried to reflash back to the cingular rom? it couldn't hurt.
I actually am running the Cingular ROM. I already replaced the SIM card 4 days ago, and it worked for about 4 days until it broke again. It doesnt make much sense, because something has to be corrupting the SIM card. When I ran *#*#364#*#* GSM utility, it would give me no data at all. Obviously the SIM card is dead (But still reads contacts on the SIM), and reauthorizing it does nothing to restore it. I will get a replacement today and verify the SIM continues to work in a different handset before I put it back in the 9100. Also I plan to factory default, and upgrade to latest ROMS etc before I try it again just in case. If anyone has any other ideas, let me know. Thanks.

Aqueous, very much the same problem here. I got my Qtek9100 yesterday and I am connecting to Cingular. When I switch on the phone it takes forever to latch to network. The
Y.
Y..
Y... keeps happening for ever and ever. But once, it latches it stays on to it firmly. If I put the sim in my old phone Nokia3230, it just connects to cingular with a snap as soon as the phone is switched on. When I tap on the " Y " region it shows "searching...". I also tried doing a manual/automatic network detection in settings. During the time the "Y. Y.. Y..." keeps going, the manual detection of networks doesnt show a single network in the list. I dont know what could the problem be, since the sim just works perfect in old phone.
By the way, what does

I have a cingular 8525 that at one point would lose signal periodically but after unlocking and superciding doesn't even find signal anymore... it doesn't say no gsm on startup and rarely connects(i think it connects since i was able to get a text message) i've tried flashing roms, radios but nothing seems to work.. all the pda functions work properly just not the signal... anybody have any ideas on what i can do to fix this problem? or what could be causing it?
Have u tried a new SIM card or another SIM card? Not sure but maybe it will help...
I tried my sim card then found it didn't work well so i went to att and they replaced my sim for a new one and still not much change..
what rom / radio rom is being used?
and i know its obvious but you do have "phone" turn't on in comm mgr? right?
I had similar problem to yours, all I had to do is turn off and on 3G.
it seems i found the cause of the problem.. it was one of the six connectors that touch the sim card.. one seemed to be all the way down and wasn't touching the sim.. i jus raised it up a bit and now seems to connect..
Hey fellow XDA member's... I have a problem.
I recently bought a T-Mobile Wing from some guy off an internet forum. Everything working fine.
When I first got it, I've been having poor signal in some places, and normal signal in other places. I didn't really think much of it..
So yeah, I flashed to Ttran's Open Touch 4.0, also flashed the 3.19.90 radio rom, installed some cabs, you know the usual, and my phone is perfect.
So me and my girlfriend were at a party, and I was looking at her phone, she has like 3 bars of signal, and my phone has NO signal (searching). By the way, her phone is T-Mobile stock, never flashed any ROMS, etc. BONE STOCK.
So, I switch sim cards from hers to mine and vice versa, and my sim card works great in her phone (good signal), and her sim card in mine has no signal, so I guess it's my phone and not the sim card.
This happened a couple times like at the mall, friend's houses, etc. where she has signal, and I have NO signal.
So, anyone know what the problem is with my signal?
What can I do? Why is this happening?
Should I call 611 (T-Mobile Customer Service) and tell them my problem?
Go to the T-Mobile Store and ask? (& Flash my ROM back to stock, or it doesn't matter)
Sorry for the long read, but this signal thing is pissing me off, haha
So, please respond and help me out, thanks!
Hi, I am having the same problem as you. Did you find out any solutions? Thanks in advance.

I recently had the same problem. My phone just all of a sudden would not find a signal. It sounds like you have a bad sim card. If you call corporate, and tell them about your problem, they should give you a credit on your account, and send you to an authorized tmobile store and get a new sim card for free.
Wait, just reread what you posted. Your sim card worked fine in hers, and her sim got little reception on yours? You could try flashing to a different radio version.
does your GF's wing have the same radio rom?
If not, then its the radio rom
i've read that 3.19.90 totally kills GSM reception
So I have this Tmobile wing for 2 weeks and it worked fine until today.
I turned on the phone and the network couldn't be found.
I went outside and still nothing and I am using OpenTouch. can someone help me figure this out?
Have you tried a soft reset or a power cycle? If that doesn't work, consider taking out the sim card and reinserting it.
I had the same problem yesterday. I pulled out my sim card and put it in another phone to see if it was my sim and sure enough the other phone could not find a network. so i put in a new sim and called t-mobile and works fine now
just installed wp7 on my hd2 and after the start up my phone keeps searching for the network. have tried automatic network selection and tap to select but no luck. am using 2.15 radio. would appreciate any help.
goto your settings, scroll to cellular, then down to add apn, in the apn box type epc.tmobile.com and leave the rest blank.
this works with tmobile us
isn't that supposed to be only for the data connection? even without entering the apn the phone should be able to find the network for just making voice calls. so mine seems to be a different problem. the phone is simply unable to catch any signals.
from my understanding of the whole cell phone fiasco is the sim card has everything the phone needs to connect your providers tower and also tells your phone what services you have voice, data, etc etc, so it should setup voice automatically. i would try searching for the program (htc connection setup) they use to install the xml files it also sets your phone with the provider.
good luck.

Only search at the internet for your apn settings, enter them and voila you can use your data connection, nothing more nothing less and done in a minute. HTC Connection Setup don't work well but you have to use it later if you want to change phone type to HD7 for the Marketplace ^^)

yeah we covered that part, the concern is that the phone is/was not connecting to the towers
Maybe check out other Radio ROM. 2.15 should work well, but uses more battery.
switched back to winmo 6.5 for a while and the same radio worked fine (caught the signal etc.). Just now again tried to flash wp7 using 2 different radios, that is 2.12 and 2.14. Have already tried 2.15 with my first attempt, but the problem just remains the same.... 'no network found'. any thoughts? have even tried putting in the apn too. no luck
u know its funny cus its the exact same with mine exactley the same ive tried everything and it picks up the signals but it wont let me connect to any network at all... the phone is just fine except that one problem.. plz any body help us with this stupid problem

i was havin the same damn problem, and i just flashed the 2.11.50.26 radio, and boom baby!! instant network connection. no more 3 beeps and disconnection for me now to check battery life and wifi (no 3g in trinidad yet, so u can't test that)
sim lock...???
After trying different radios by flashing and re-flashing, I've noticed something I should mention. My phone dialer shows a sim icon with a lock on the top left of the screen. Does that shed a new light on things?
sim lock ???
hey sameer... I have the very same issue with my HTC HD2. It is unlocked and I am facing the very same issue that you are when I revert to WinMo 6.5 everything works fine with the same radio. I've tried almost every radio now and have no luck. However, the funny thing is that I do see the sim with a lock when I go to my dialer. I suspect the OS is SIM Locked, however, when in WinMo 6.5 every Sim Card is recognized and works properly
Any luck with the issue yet??
Let me know of your thoughts... btw I'm on Ufone's Network.
It's the sim card!
Problem solved for me and hopefully for salmanjavaid too!
I learnt it the harder way though, by which I mean that I spent money to buy an HD7 and after inserting my sim in my brand new HD7..... no signal again! oooops! Only then it occurred to me to try some other sim cards. My network is also Ufone here in Pakistan. So first I tried a Prepaid Ufone sim (the one with white and orange colour and 64K printed on the back)...and Lo and Behold my hd7 gets the signal and network settings and data connection works fine too! Other operators' sim cards like Telenor, Warid and Mobilink worked fine too. But when I insert the sim card which is in my use back again....no signals again! This sim card is a different version, perhaps not 64K and plain black color on the back.
A call to my Personal Customer Service Executive assigned by Ufone sets the next course of action. He'll bring a replacement sim card for me, when I get back home.
My suggestion to salmanjavaid: try other sim cards first. If they work then get a replacement sim card.
Hope it solves your problem too.
id give this a shot. I'm on vacations in Pakistan and have my Sim Card from O2. I will give it a shot tonight Thanks for the suggestion.
