a sticky for all sprint hero roms - Hero CDMA General

This is prob more directed at the moderators, could a sticky be created to list all the roms that are available for the sprint hero?
I am not sure what all roms exist, I have come across the following (in no particular order)
DamageControl
SushiRom
FreshRom
Ic3Rom
Aloysius
PureRom
If others could add to this list that would be awesome. I just think a sticky at the top of the forum would be awesome for people just starting out with trying to flash a non stock rom so that they can see what is all available instead of trying to hunt down all the different roms.

There currently is a page for all the ROMS for the HERO....is at the top of this forum The link is right here....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=674833

There is a link to a wiki in one of the stickies at the top of the forum. It lists all the roms based on category (1.5, 2.1, developer, etc). It is somewhat up to date, but usually a little behind.

......
There is one.
"[REF] ALL ROMS | ROOTING | FAQ's | STICKIES | POSTING RULES - Read before posting"
It's the second sticky. ;/

Dude, there is already a sticky with this and it has almost every ROM posted here in it. it is also maintained by the ROM creators as well. Read please...

there already is a sticky, its one of the like three that we have.

Hahahahaha

hi i'm here to beat a dead horse.

here is the link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6372744&postcount=2

It WOULD be nice to see a page that lists all of the roms and their respective features.
It'd save a lot of time browsing through the different roms to find the right one.

It doesn't take that tlong to read the first post from each rom in the wiki. Remember "Reading is FUNdamental."

see wiki in my sig.
also working on putting together a centralized website of all we have to offer here for the CDMA Hero.

you also forgot Darchdroid
congratulations on your **** thread btw

and mine... but oh well

HEy, I didn't see anyone say this, so I just wanted to point out that there is already a sticky like this.

Thread moved to General.

If YOU want it, then MAKE IT YOURSELF! You are as much a part of this community as anyone else is. When you're done, show it to a mod or two and maybe they'll sticky it.

Hey I haven't seen this mentioned yet, but there's already a sticky for the ROMs and stuff. Second one down. Ahem.

Ok OK peeps, everyones poked enough fun at the OP, which want really necessary

Thread Moderation? XDA Mods please reply!

Is anyone administrating this thread on a constant basis? I mean the CDMA thread is sloppy. No stickies for like a month now. [ROM] 08/11 1.1 - CDMA HERO MoDaCo is old news now since the update. We needed these threads stickied:
[GUIDE] How To Root The CDMA Hero (Windows)
[GUIDE] How To Change The MEID/ESN On HTC Hero CDMA
[ROM-DEV] AOSP 2.0 Hero CDMA, help needed | Phone works | 3G data kluge | BT turns on
[Recovery] CDMA Sprint [08-Dec-2009] RA-heroc-v1.5.1
maybe some ROMs too:
[UNOFFICIAL] v1.2c - CDMA HERO MoDaCo Custom ROM 23NOV2009 Market issues fixed!
[ROM] 12/10/09-1.0 | fresh rom | Enough that I'm calling it 1.0!
Anyone else agree?
i agree
it is a little hard finding things here looking through everything
Good call man! I've been wondering why our only sticky is a ROM that isn't even being updated.
they have a hard time spending all thier time moderating the dream forum with all the newb questions in the wrong section and stuff. we get left by the wayside since we kinda mod ourselves and tend to post correctly. but yah we need some stickies due to the were 3 cdma eris root threads and only one is active. also a few dead threads need to be locked.
I wonder how one goes to apply for a Mod position here...lol.
I'm such an xda-junkie I'd gladly moderate the forum including organize stickies and a master thread for links to informative posts.
I'd also like to suggest a development subforum just for the CDMA phones.
Well then we need a couple users that are always in here to mod just our thread or something.
ever since i found this site i havent left lol, best site ever!

This. Keeping the idiots from running roughshod will bring back some talented developers, and attract some new ones. Hell, I re-registered just out of hope.
obelisk gets my vote, for both of his suggestions.
edit -
After browsing the forum here for a few minutes..are you sure you want to volunteer to oversee this steamy pile? You would have your work cut out for you.
This is a great forum, the stickies would be helpful. And if we did that we could have another sticky explaining some terms and things, I've seen them in other forums on the site. I'm thinking mainly for new people so they don't have to be intimidated when reading guide. Include why they need CDMA, what cupcake and eclair are. Explain what it is to flash, what a ROM is, you know general info sticky.
Also we could better handle this.
I don't have a single clue about how to become a mod here.
Regardless of who it is, we need an active moderator.
+1 for a active mod, better stickies, and a sub dev group.
Any XDA mods care to chime in or do you just not care about our CDMA devices. If so ill just wank off mate
Right on WhiteWindows! It would be helpful to have the important/relevant threads stickied. There are old ROMs that keep popping up at the top because of repeat questions. Keeping current topics up front would be greatly appreciated
Obelisk has my vote.
i agreethis thead could use more activity
I posted a thread here requesting the appontment of an active mod for this forum. Post there to show support that we do in fact need an active moderator.
We'll get to checking things out here a bit more often. Things have been pretty busy around here and unfortunately things get a bit skipped over (and they shouldn't).

seriously WHY aren't new threads created for new ROM's

don't the ROM geniuses create a NEW thread everytime they create a NEW ROM!!!!!
seriously wading thur loads of pages of an OLD ROM thread about NEW ROM and trying to find the NEW ROM download is exhausting
I'd also like to see a new thread for new ROMs (at least for 'milestones'). The threads of the old ROMs could stay open for a couple of days after the new one is released and then it could be closed with the advice to use the new ROM from that point of time on and with the advice that the old version won't get any support anymore. I think that would be also more comfortable for the chefs. Same with e.g. the CHT-thread a.s.o. - no offense, only an idea
I disagree. There is no need to wade through pages of posts to find the links as in 99.9% of the time they are in the first few posts. Also, many of the little quirks and their fixes often carry over from rom to rom. It's bad enough already with the continual stream of repetitive questions, just imagine how bad it will get if the history of these fixes needs to be repeated in each new thread.
I totality agree with you ClydeB1..
No need to. Take your time read carefully (most of the roms have the date of the last ROM), look for the download link. SIMPLES.
I'm in 2 minds about this. I see the benefit of having all information regarding a ROM and its development all in the same thread, but it can also make it difficult to figure out which versions have which bugs.
I have been reading about ROMs a few times and been turned off becasue of a bunch of bug reports, only to later find they were talking about an ancient version.
Single thread is better

I argee wazaappp. It is actually easier if all the releases are discussed in single thread. This makes it easier to search for particular problem/bug that may have reoccurred in latest rom, which means the solution will be in the same thread instead of multiple thread for each milestone.
The easiest way to get about in rom release threads:
1. Find download links in the 1st page itself
2. All the change logs will be in the 1st page itself
3. Finally go to last page and work your way back few pages and that should be sufficient to get you up to speed with the latest release.
4. When reading any bug report from our fellow Xda members, please check the post date. If older than the latest release date, then most probably it has been fixed or workaround will be posted within few next pages!
Do this and you will agree with us! Hope it helps!

Yes it would help it all NEW ROM is started in a NEW POST
and a link is provided to where the NEW ROM is being discussed, instead of working backward to find the start!!!!

Wow...out of my long explanation, you choose to only read one sentence(item 3)....and disregard all other advantage I pointed out.
Well...too bad thats how it has been all this while and i dont foresee the chefs/mods adding new thread for each milestone release!
To some extent, I can understand the OP´s main point. Especially for newbies,
and maybe even more valid in case of HD2, where the choice of ROMs is massive,
it may take quite some time to find your preferences.
But, after getting used to forums like this, I think it´s great to have one thread
by each chef - this way, it´s much easier for me to find what´s new, or even
to subscribe to my favorite ROM threads.
This will lead to even more littered forum with 9000+ custom ROM threads.
I'd like to see all these custom ROMs in a separate forum so they wouldn't mess with the actual development threads.

newbees here should READ! the more one spends time with XDA the more one
will feel the ease of use and browsing through the Thread. So please, if the mods have time, they'll explain the logic behind this.
A new thread is typically created for new ROM's - not for updates to an existing ROM.
Update ROM's are announced in the original thread. The purpose for keeping all of the posts in an existing ROM thread is to help troubleshoot problems that might come up.
HTH,
I reckon Co0kieMonster's hit the nail on the head. Whenever he releases a new version of CHT, he puts a link in the first post saying "version x.x.x.x stuff starts at this post..."
If people don't read the 1st post then I couldn't care less if they end up reading 600 pages. (Let's face it, if they don't read the 1st post, they're probably just gonna post the same repeated and answered rubbish anyway!)
hey, i have a brand new hd2, i did not change anything on it, the rom is original, the spl is original and so on....
i have 1.66 esteurope ROM, if i upgrade the rom to 2.02 or 2.07 or 2.10 can i go back to 1.66?

could we please get subforums for i9000 roms / vibrant roms etc.?

the forum with all the different kernels / roms etc. for different versions of the phone is getting more and more confusing. although its called 'i9000' development and not 'vibrant' people post their roms nevertheless.
it would be nice if we could get subforums for the existing phone variants for roms only, where devs can post their stuff, while retaining full edit rights to the respective threads.
eg:
- Subforum: Samsung Galaxy i 9000
-- Thread: Darkys Stormy ROM v.XX - small description
-- Thread: Doc Katakumas ULTRA ROM v.xx - small description
- Subforum: Samsung Vibrant
-- Thread: Someones Cool Rom for Vibrant v.XX - small description
this would allow for a much cleaner structure - all the discussion could take place in the main forum.

Yeah everything works fine on I9000M it's the same phone. Stupid idea IMO.
Actually I like the idea, the front page for the I9000 Android development
contains 80% of custom ROMs, kinda messy indeed. Would be good to have
a "custom ROM development" subsection, and on top of this it would really
worth to have a different one for stock kernels, too.
totally agree. And maybe this would encourage separate threads for different versions of ROMs. I understand why it is the way it is, but it's tough to read through all 1000 pages of people asking how to use clockworkmod to find that one nugget of info you're looking for. A dedicated subforum could mean more shorter threads with the same info.
These threads always get spammed by noob requests. It will be a matter of one hours from release before it has 10 pages. Plus a new thread for each rom version is not practical because then nobody can link to it. And this already is the dev section, there is no reason to put a second one just for roms. Even if finding a rom you like takes some time. It's always like that and changing it would require someone to do a tremendous amount of work. The benefits of that would be rather insignificant and the effort enormous.

Fully agree with Frandromeda 1+
/signed for a seperate ROM section for ROMs only
It should be:
Android Dev
|
└-Roms
| └ Releases
| └ Discussions
|
└ Kernels
. └ Releases
. └ Discussions
And when a Dev create a ROM/Kernel the thread posts are locked to posting so only him can write/update
And if possible the Discussion forum should authorize threads creation only to people that posted in Releases so only the Rom/Kernel creator could create a thread keeping away new threads spam

[POLL] New sub-forums

Dear Community members,
Should we have 2 separate sub-fora for Android development and Themes and Apps:
-Sense
-AOSP
I think it will make our live easier, but it's just an idea. I included a poll so please, do MASSIVELY express yourself! I did vote Yes, of course!
Regards
forelli
Can't say it would be a bad idea, might split people though and some forums don't like that.

any organisation is good organisation
I voted no. Why? Because there are so much common things for both builds in those forums.
Android dev: leaks, radios, guides, kernels, general mods (like recent usb host). It should be a general place to find all the custom ROMs.
Themes: I agree that themes are usually for CM or Sense only, but there are also common things like bootanimations, splashes, etc.
I agree with both sides of the case here, however a well titled ROM Thread
e.g
[ROM][SENSE][etc][etc]............
or
[ROM][AOSP][etc][etc]............
Would do just fine. So I voted no.
I opened this thread because it proved difficult to find a CM7 theme or kernel! You have to go through I don't know how many pages before you find something for CM7.

As it has already been said, a well titled thread should help more than the infinite splitting of the forums. You'll just have to use the search button. What's next? Froyo and Gingerbread subforums? Once i get to a computer I'll vote 'no'.

I don't know about AOSP or SENSE forums, but I think it would be a good idea to gather all guides (rooting, flashing, s-off etc.) to the same place. That way they would be easier to find than now as they are scattered all over the forum. This would also reduce the numbers of new threads started by people asking questions that have already been answered several times.

The sticky roll-up thread in Android Developement maybe?!? They are there, but unfortunately you can have those guides in big red letters on top of every page and there will sill be someone, who thinks it's easier to ask than to read. It has to be the human nature . Actually proposing this, means that you too have never looked at the sticky roll-ups in the forums! Shame on you!

Yes I've read the stickies, but there isn't listed even nearly all the most commonly needed guides like the getting back to stock guide, improving battery life guide and radio s-off guide just to name a few. Also it would be good to have the known solutions/reasons to common bugs/problems listed somewhere. These threads can ofcourse be found on the forum as it is but if no one posts to the threads (because they are solved) they will fall back to the last pages of the threads list and thus become harder to come across.
And yes I know that the common DHD issues can be found in the general section sticky, but also that one isn't fully comprehensive. Just to give an example the CWM booting while charging issue can't be found there even though the issue has been there since we got CWM on our phones, hasn't it?

[REQ] Sticky thread with roms comparison.

Would anyone make a sticky thread with comparison of the main roms out there? Main features, what's not working, purpose (speed or max features), build on, and so on.
We newbies in rooting field would be very grateful for that.
either make one yourself... or... PM moderator for it.... this aint the place for putting up questions....
I remember coming from the HTC Blackstone forum, they had an excel sheet with all roms and their benchmark results. This is ALOT of work and you have to rely on other users.
Also you want to keep track of what rom does or not?
And also do you want to include different kernels??
Sounds like an ambiguous but an "not done" project to me.
But hey, if you could spare the time, go ahead.
I will even submit benchmark results from the roms i'm using.
First of all, there is one here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=916431. Although, it's lumped in with other info and it needs to be updated, you can ask in that thread to remind the op that it needs updating.
