in the past couple of weeks, whenever i try to watch a youtube video using the 3g network, my hd2 would freeze and reboot itself after a few seconds. strangely, i can watch youtube for hours at a time with no problems if i use a wifi connection instead. does anyone else have this problem? i've already installed the latest firmware from the t-mobile website.
this only started to happen recently and nothing about my phone has changed. i've even done a factory reset so i can only think that the problem is somehow with the 3g network itself rather than my phone.
I've had the same issue since i bought the phone. using chucky ROM right now.

Hello all,
Not sure if anyone else is having this problem.
First of all, better to mention what my Aria is running on:
Stock ROM unrooted. Updated to Froyo from HTC via FOTA. I'm not located in the US therefore my phone isn't under AT&T which many here are. My ROM is strictly HTC's Asia's ROM.
Now I don't have much in a way of problems with my phone, its just odd to me that every once in a while (around once every week or so) I need to reboot my phone. This is because for some strange reason, my phone won't connect to the data network (3G) or it shows that it is connected but no data activity (even after I've instructed the phone to sync all information, i.e. weather, emails, etc). I've tried switching on/off the data network connection and also have tried switching between airplane modes on/off (in hopes to reset something) but nothing works.
I'm not sure if this is an inherent problem to the Aria's 2.2 update or if there is something wrong with my carrier, however the problem is ALWAYS FIXED right after a fresh reboot.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Phone information. Set preferred network.
Try switching between the different options.

Thanks for the hint thinkhope. I'll try your suggestion. May I ask what you think the problem may be?
Update: I tried it for a couple of days and I still get the same problem. I tried switching between preferred networks but the problem persists. Quick reboot and once again, fixed.
I also have this same problem, stock/custom ROM no matter which ROM the problem is still there, up to a point that made me wanna smash my phone on the ground. I tried to use my SIM card on my wife's SGS and seems like no such problems faced. Is this a common problem for HTC phones?
Hi all im using a bell atrix and my data has been wonky. My phone will show that it is connected to h+ with the up down arows showing but my phone is unable to open any web page or do a speed test. This issue is intermittent and a phone reset will provide a temporary fix. It even drops a connection during continuous data use. I listen to Sirius and it will stop playing randomly. Any help would be appreciated!
It happens with quite a few Atrix phones so it's sort of a common issue. I think motorola addresses that issue on the new update.
Check if your apn is still there n are you rooted
try this

need to get RSD lite
Let me clarify
My phone is not rooted. Also this issue is not 24/7 it happenes intermittently and at random intervals. Let me go over things I have tried. Phone reset, sim card swap, phone swap. So I hope that helps.
b_man95,
I am having the same issues. Started about a few days ago.... I was in vancouver over easter weekend and it was working fine. Before I left for Vancouver I was streaming canucks games via the bell tv and radio app and it worked perfectly with no glitches.
Now since back in Fort Mac(AB), when I tried to watch the game 7 canucks vs blackhawks it started freezing. Now youtube, facebook and any heavy data web page or app is super slow if it works at all.
I am running everything the same as you. Where are you located? I called bell and they seemed to be say that it is a problem with either the phone or the sim card... but I am nearly certain this is not the case. It was working fine a few days ago in Vancouver, and I have not changed anything on the phone since then (besides taking a picture or two).
I believe Bell is having network issues but it too f***ing proud to admit it - because they are "Canada's fastest and most reliable network" right?
I also posted this response to your post on motorola support.

i am in the vancouver area. Also its not a network issue i have had my ipad 2 next to my atrix while the problem was occuring with the ipad working just fine
I flashed my TMO HD2 to the below ROM for about a month.
imilka's Gingerbread Sense v05 [Des HD][Sense 2.1][K:raf1.9OC]
The internet / data connectivity was working fine since I flashed it. However, it started to have a problem several days ago. Although my phone showed the icon for HSPA with good signal, it failed to connect to internet 10 minutes after in use. I stopped and restarted Mobile Networks, it would work for another 10 minutes and down again. I also tried to reboot the phone, but the same issue recurred.
Any suggestion that can remedy the issues? Thanks.
try a different rom and see if it does it then
Hello,
Im getting a weird youtube problem on my hd2 w/wp7. This happens on any video longer than 1min 20ish sec. It will start and play a video fine, but it will stop playing at around 1:18 min:sec or so. Its like it just doesnt bother to finish downloading. But if its connected to wifi, it will play the entire video.
With good 3g signal, Ill get around 900kb/s dl speeds.
I have tried several youtube apps including lazyworm and HTC.
Im running green mango w/ market place, but this has happened to every rom ive tried.
Im on giffgaffs network (o2) and I have unlimited downloads. I also have asked them if they throttle youtube at all and they said no. They said to try to erase any apn/proxy settings i have, but I dont have any settings under apn.
Thanks or looking and any help is much appreciated!
Chris.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem or have any ideas??

Hey guys, I'm totally confused what's wrong with my xoom mobile connection. The sim card and 3g work fine when I put the sim into my htc cell, however on the tablet it refuses to work despite the dynamic tray indication (3g changes to hsdpa or to edge, even the up- and download arrows appear), though the indicator color is gray like it doesnt work. I have no idea what's wrong, I tried all the mobile connection settings, still nothing seems to get better. The problem appeared several days after my xoom was updated to official 3.1 (not rooted btw).
It worked fine before and after the update. I rebooted the xoom like 10 times, still no effect, same for factory reseting the xoom twice. In addition, the device network info shows that IP address is unknown.
What can I do to fix the connection? I'd appreciate any help.
seriously guys, no ideas?
I have a similar issue with my Optus MZ601 where it starts H data and then suddenly drops out, ending with the modem seemingly rebooting... Not sure whether this is my coverage in Aus, or whether there are other issues. I tend to suspect "Fast Dormancy" is on and playing a part in all of this, however with out a dialer, there's no way I can do the *#9900# to get into the menu and turn it off to test my theory.
Same problem
I'm having the same issues, It started a few days ago. Updated to 3.1 about a month ago with no problems.
Now I can't connect with 3G. Wifi works fine. tried everything from soft resets to full recovery. My xoom recognizes the sim and shows data connectivity but still can't connect.
Is there a problem with the update?
wow finally I'm not the only one with such problem.
did you guys reinstalled the stock 3.0.1 image? cause that's what I'm intending to do now. the only thing that stops me so far is that I'm not completely sure whether it will void my warranty or not.
I just don't want to find myself with a crippled xoom which moto refuses to take back >_>
