trying to use offical RUU - Hero CDMA General

Hey guys I am selling my hero to someone and I wanted to put it at stock sprint without root,
The error I keep getting is my battery is less than 30% when it is at full charge
anybody else experienceing this issue

had that problem when i was putting in 2.1. I tried to restart my computer, turned off the phone, took the battery out for a while like a min or so, put everything back in. Deleted all the files in my temp folder on my comp as well and that worked. Don't know if it was my comp or the phone though.

Sounds like a problem with your battery stats, if the above advice doesn't work. Are you rooted? If so go into recovery and wipe battery stats.
Then let it charge and try to RUU again.

Randomly shutting off

My g1 started shutting off randomly. I'm not sure what the problem is. Anyone else have this problem before? Thanks.
I'm on SuperD 1.6 with darkstar theme and sterricsons lockscreen
Amon_Ra recovery
BFS and locksreen sleep hangs some times. I installed the same thing this morning and havn't had one yet.
I would say re-partition, wipe all, flash. make sure you back everything you want up. good luck!
I was thinking my battery needs to be calibrated? It's weird it just started happening...
I drain my battery until the phone dies then charge it when it's off. The LED turns green in under an hour. Something has to be wrong here right?
hmm, have you tried a new battery then? and I read you want to drain it to about 20-30% not all the way, this way it lasts longer. But I would say try someone else's battery or buy a new one
have you re partitioned wiped everything and flashed?
I don't want to buy a new battery if I don't need it. Money is tight! I have wiped everything though but haven't re-partitioned.
I let it drain and wiped everything today. Let it charge while off and it hasn't shut off. I'll have to see if the calibration was off or something..

Mine did it to me before and then it just shut off and died.
Mine (actually, an ADP1, not a G1) was doing the same thing. I returned it to the vendor. I wasn't running anything fancy, it did it on both the factory 1.0 build and after I upgraded to 1.6.

Charge and battery life problems

Hey there i have a HTC Legend running cyanogenmod 7.0.2.The problem is that i can't charge my phone to 100% it usually charges to 65% and it drains very fast but i noticed that i stays on 3% for +- 8 hours with extensive use.I thought that my battery wasn't good anymore but yesterday i tried putting my battery in my friends htc legend and it showed 83% while it showed 13% on mine so i put the battery to charge on my friends phone till it charged to 100%(that means that the battery's still good)but when i reinserted the battery in my phone it showed 65% just like when i charge the battery in my phone.I thought that i could try calibrating my battery but the phone doesn't charge to 100%.I was running blay0's b0.8.4 rom before this cm7 rom and had the same issue.
Any suggestions how i can fix this.

turn off your phone, plug it all night long then restart in cwm recovery and do "wipe battery stats" ( or something like that in advanced)
restart and see
I have already tried that i have turned the phone off and left it to charge for two and a half days long without disconnecting the charger but the light still didn't turn green. This is really annoying cause the battery drains fast and when its less than 15% the orange light turns on which i don't like to see
I have the same problem with my Legend since I update from stock 2.1 to 2.2.Actualy because of this I root my Legend then i can calibrate it but nothink seams to help. After all night charging the led is still red and when i start it up it shows 75% and go down fast.(1 hour or so can bring it to 5% easily). After when i switch it off and take out battery for few second and put it back it come back to about 55%.actualy the same problem as you have.
I just live with it....i trayed every calibration method and app. and nothink helps.
On another forum one guy told me then it probably need to be recalibrated in factory because i dont have the right tools for it.
I dont think then HTC will do that for me specialy after i root it.
If you find solution please let as know.thanks

Then unroot it, install your carrier's firmware just the way it came with on the phone, and send it back. I would imagine it be hard for them to tell that you've rooted it.
Or just before you do so, check if the battery's still messing around before you send it back.
I have two battery's and the problem is the same with both of them.If is true then they can not understand i will give a tray...i think then this is the first think they will look it at just to tell me f**k you..hahaha
I' ve the same problem with stock legend 2.2. How can we do?help!
Inviato dal mio HTC Legend usando Tapatalk
So this is what i tried i drained my battery completely till i had 1% of charge then i put it to charge while the phone was still on and it has been on charge for two days and i see that the phone has charged to 76% usually it would charge to 65% so maybe if i leave it for a couple of days on charge i could get a full 100% charge. So that is my last hope unless you guys find something else.
I will post back if it works for me
BTW couldn't it be a kernel problem??
All I know then the problem started when I update from 2.1 to 2.2 stock rom.so my theory is then when you flash new rom the process take some time and energy from battery and when the process is finish the system take current battery state as full which is not true because of used energy from flashing process. So maybe providing DC power with the same voltage as fully charged battery when flashing new rom may fix it.I maybe wrong but in theory it may work.what you think?
I have 2.2 since release date, and the problem is present since one month, after about 6 months 'hotspot mode' for home internet.i think is a battery problem (charge and navigate at same time for 2 hours for day)but this thread show that is a common problem!
Inviato dal mio HTC Legend usando Tapatalk
i'm having the same kind of trouble for the past 2 months. no matter what i've tried nothing happenned. i'm running custom 2.2 , without rooting or so and charging level stops at 71-75%. drops down relatively quickly until 15% and easily can stay with 3% for over than 5 hours.... htc suggested to run a factory reset, but even this didn't help. if someone finds a solution it would be ...LEGEND...
The phone is actualy charging the battery correctly,i find that out with the multimeter.I measure the battery voltage after all night charge and even then in the phone it shows 75% and voltage 3.950 with multimether i find out then voltage of the battery is 4.220.So thats mean then phone is charging correctly just the indicator(software)doez not interpret it it right.Still is anoying to look at red led after 1-2hours of use.
I have S-ON so maybe even if the calibration app.say after i tray to calibrating then batterystats.bin is deleted it maybe not true becouse of S-ON.
Do you guys with this problem have S-OFF or S-ON?
Maybe is not related to S-OFF or S-ON but who knows...
Maybe if we charge the battery till its full and testing it like pirate81 said with a multimeter and then flash a new rom maybe that could fix it has anyone tried this??
I start to think then XDA developers forum is useless...i post my problem hier to get help from people(xda developers)which I think then they actualy know somethink about android but It seams to me then XDAdevelpers actualy dont care..end i am sorry for that....dissapointed.I see then this forum works on basic.."help your self"...where are you XDAdevelopers...we come to your forum because we need help from you...
I know you doing it for free so i should be happy for what i get but i was waiting a little bit more of interest....sorry i am just dissapointed.
Anyone find a solution?
Would it help if we went back to android 2.1
I allready trayed that..save your time...no changes.
Can't we just use someone elses battery stats file someone who's battery does charge to 100%
I have same problem for 6 months already and yes, it started when I upgraded from 2.1 to 2.2 and it's only getting worse. It was 95% maximum, then 75% then 65% and now it's 45%.
Changing battery or firmware (custom or official), wiping stats, factory resets or calibrating batteries does not help.
Now it dawned on me that I still heve 2 weeks of warranty left and I think I'll try official service.
Please let as know when you will get it back...if they change just rom and calibrating or you will get new phone.I am interestig if it is software or hardware issue.thanks

Nook Color shuts off if not plugged in.

My Nook Color with internal CM 7.1 shuts off if not plugged in. I had CM 7.1 on my Nook Color for months with out any issues then about 2 weeks ago it started to completely shut off if not plugged in. I didn't install any apps or it wasn't changed in anyway, it would just began to shut off. I then decided to install CM 7.2 to resolve the issue but it does the exact same thing. I have no idea was is going on.

Sounds like battery issues. By shut off, do you mean just goes dead instantly as soon as you unplug it? Or some other thing?

Yes, it goes dead.
What does your battery show? Percentagewise, that is. Try booting to CWM and doing a wipe battery stats.
It goes dead instantly and the battery status is 100%.
I wiped the battery stats and it still shuts off.
I'm having this exact same issue. I checked using one of those battery calibration tools from the app store, and my battery is reading 4207mv. Not sure what is going on but I don't really want to have to replace the battery on this thing already. Anyone have a way to actually discharge the battery while it's out of the nook and see if it can get re-calibrated that way?
Try backing up your system and then reinstalling stock. It has a small zip file (charging.zip) that goes on the boot partition and gets activated by the system when the system thinks it needs it. I don't know if it has anything to do with problems you guys are having, but we are grasping at straws here. I have a version of stock that has been modified to be flashable with CWM. Get it here.

Cool, I'm downloading it now. I don't mind wiping this device since it's just a test device, is there any reason to backup /system other than to save my current rom? Also, if I flash that modded stock, does it already have root and will it affect my recovery or will I still be able to boot to twrp?
Thanks

The backup is just so you have yourself one. If you don't need it don't do it. It is vanilla stock, not rooted. And your TWRP will be gone. Stock recovery will be there. That is part of my reason for suggesting it. This just a test to see if the stock system fixes your problem. So maybe a nandroid backup is good so that you can just restore the nandroid and everything is as you had it, TWRP and all.

Sounds like a plan. I'll give it a shot in the AM when I get a chance to put it back together. Since it was acting up I decided it would be a good idea to do a little teardown of it and see what was inside.
Thanks

Well, at least you have stock on it if you want to take it to B&N for them to look at. If still under warranty, maybe they will do something.
I tried reinstalling stock as well, it boots normally with it plugged in and still dies when unplugged but I'm gonna try to recondition the battery. With a little luck I might be able to get it back to working. I found some useful info for people about batteries that would be good to know for your nook. I didn't know these things before hand that that's probably why my nook's battery is dead.
Taken from here:
3: Allow partial discharges and avoid full ones (usually)
Unlike NiCad batteries, lithium-ion batteries do not have a charge memory. That means deep-discharge cycles are not required. In fact, it’s better for the battery to use partial-discharge cycles.
There is one exception. Battery experts suggest that after 30 charges, you should allow lithium-ion batteries to almost completely discharge. Continuous partial discharges create a condition called digital memory, decreasing the accuracy of the device’s power gauge. So let the battery discharge to the cut-off point and then recharge. The power gauge will be recalibrated.
4: Avoid completely discharging lithium-ion batteries
If a lithium-ion battery is discharged below 2.5 volts per cell, a safety circuit built into the battery opens and the battery appears to be dead. The original charger will be of no use. Only battery analyzers with the boost function have a chance of recharging the battery.
Also, for safety reasons, do not recharge deeply discharged lithium-ion batteries if they have been stored in that condition for several months.
5: For extended storage, discharge a lithium-ion battery to about 40 percent and store it in a cool place
I’ve always had an extra battery for my notebook, but it would never last as long as the original battery. I know now that it’s because I was storing the battery fully charged. That means oxidation of lithium-ion is at its highest rate. Storing lithium-ion batteries at 40 percent discharge and in the refrigerator (not freezer) is recommended

I've let this one sit for months on end being dead, then I would fully charge it and use if for a day or two trying some stuff out for work, then let it sit and slowly discharge and be dead for weeks if not months again. Probably not a good idea.

Thanks catawalks for that very informative link. I am going to add that link to my tips thread for other users to read.
You might want to install an app called Battery Monitor Widget Pro by 3C. I think they have a free version on play store. It gives you useful info about you battery's condition and charging history.
Keep us posted about your success or failure about reconditioning your battery.

Feel free to use it. All is good. I'll give that app a try too and will definitely keep updating with status on the battery.

[Q] Battery calibration/scaling?

Hi folks, ive been using my new s4 for about a week now and have noticed a pattern with the battery draining. when i unplug my phone it instantly falls to 82%, i can plug it back in and it will charge to 100% but when i unplug again it goes back to 82%, the phone seems to drain normally, usually down to 70% after my morning break then 50% after lunch, it then drops quickly to 30% then turns off at 20%.
I've tried a few different things to check that nothing is eating my battery, tried resetting to make sure nothing was running in the background.
it seems like my battery is healthy(getting a full day from it) it just seem like its scale is set wrong, i.e. 82=100 and 20=0.
is there an app that can reset this scale? ive looked into calibraters but the concencus seems ot be that they wont do anything real?
Thanks for any help.
So for quite a few releases, sprint users have been having APN issues. I thought the latest release fixed it but after everything working fine last night, now I can't send MMS again. The last build that didn't have this issue is 12/22... What changed and what can I do to fix it??? Any help would be appreciated.

Thought I was in the main q&a. Thank.
I think modifying the battery stats file requires root and maybe a custom recovery. I know there is an option to delete battery stats in recovery. Deleting it will cause android to create a new one and maybe fix a problem where it reports an incorrect battery %
It may also be that you have a faulty battery. See this article

Taking my device to service center tomorrow IST.

I've been having strange fluctuations in the battery which I noticed and I was assuming it was some of wake locks or alarms causing this drain.
I also noticed the battery getting heated during charging.
The weirdest issue I faced is that every first boot after full barge reduces to -10%later reboots meet them intact I noticed this on stock rom and custom rom also, Also while charging I saw that from 93%to 100 %jump was just in few min which is totally ubnormal.
Tough my fast charging was turned off.
Hopefully it's just a battery issue I can't live without this device after giving it for service.
Is anybody else having these issue ??
I think its a software issue did you try doing a factory reset ? Disable all the useless apps? Remove the battery once in awhile? Jumps from 93-94%to 100 is not uncommon

I guess this has been fixed by resetting the battery gauge after full charge to 100% I had to pull the battery wait for about 3mins and put it back after this reset procedure looks like the last 2 charge cycles dint have those random drops after reboots, but I've the battery drains I need to figure out what problem is I get a maz of 4hsot.
