Why Sony Ericsson X2 doesn’t support Arabic from Microsoft in MR2 (WM 6.5.3) as Microsoft said in its official web site?
http://www.microsoft.com/middleeast/Egypt/CMIC/Issue3/latestnews.aspx

Dear Mohie
Did you try to use any other WinMob 6.5.3 based device where only standard MSFT arabic support is activated? Try it and let us know your comments.
Yes, MSFT added the basic support for arabic text output and very limited support for arabic input. The problem is that this support works only in very limited functional areas.
Just try to find other forums of MSFT developers and ask them when MSFT is planning to fix main arabic issues for WinMob 6.5.3.
I hope that Aaron answers to you in official SE forum about why SE didn't use only MSFT arabic support. Do you know any other products based on WinMob 6.5.3 with arabic support? It would be nice to compare the quality of arabic support between X2 R3AA035 and these devices.....
Thanks PanichUS for reply..
I think only X2 now available with WM 6.5.3, but no reason for wait as officially Microsoft said that WM 6.5.3 support arabic natively...

Aspen comes with 6.5.3, there are also several HTC devices running 6.5.3 as well, this includes custom ROMS
Dear m.mohie
Did you have deals with MSFT before?
"Arabic read/write document support"
It doesn't mean that MSFT promises that you can write/read SMS/MMS by using arabic.
It doesn't mean that MSFT promises that you can make some sort for your phonebook.
It doesn't mean that you will have correct format for mixed arabic/latin texts.
I'm not sure is any arabic prediction supported by native MSFT code. It should be.
So, please, compare native arabic support from MSFT with Arabic support from Mobidiv, which is used in X2 and let us know your comments.

I wanted to use Persian on my mobile but I couldn't install Windows Arabic with Persian support on my Hermes Softbank X01 which has a locked rom with Japanese WM5. I tried so many different commercially available keyboards and softwares, finally this is what worked for me at no charge:
1- On a clean installation of my windows, I installed Ecatco trial for Persian from http://www.ectaco.com/Language-Support-Persian-for-Pocket-PC (actually there are 2 or 3 other packages that none worked for me incl. paragon) There are Ectaco packages for other rtl middle-eastern languages.
With this installation I got Persian font and UTF recognition in internet explorer. Typing Persian in Windows environment (even Japanese outlook) is OK however the IE shows separated LTR characters. There is no choice by default for the text direction and practically it is useless.
2- After hours of thinking, I tried the new version of Minimo (Mozilla browser for PDA). It solved the problem of text direction. Moreover, unlike old fashioned IE, Minimo is an excellent and full featured browser. I just wish my Hermes had a little bit of more base RAM. BTW, you can download the latest (still beta?) version of this smart browser from http://www.mozilla.org/projects/minimo/
Now I can catch on my news reading in Persian on the way to work on board Tokyo Metro!
As a co-developer I'd like to announce a newest FTouchSL 2.9.
It is mainly a hotfix in which we have:
- Solved problems with disabling original scrolling engines on HTC (Diamond, Pro) and Samsung (Omnia) PDAs.
- Fixed issue with simple gestures execution

Hi
I use Handbase since years (Palm, Winmob). Now I have the new HTC HD2 (Leo). Date picker is not usable, because it seems too large. It shows only some days of the calendar, is not scrollable and the OK-button
can not be pressed. May be it is a scaling problem. In other
applications the HTC datepicker is normal scaled so it can be used. Is there a possibility to cheange the behaviour of the datepicker? Or is it possible to change datepicker (like iPhone style)?
Thanks for help
You will have to talk with Handbase about this as it is their code.
You have to remember that this is the first WVGA capacitive screen (with multi touch) on WM, technically WM doesn't support capactitive or multi touch - HTC did a little developing of their own. While there are some apps that were already 'touched', Resco Explorer for one, most are not and while they may work fine (and are usable) they should have their interfaces updated to take advantage of this new technology.
Hi there,
David Devaney, Jr. from DDH Software here.
We've received two reports of this problem already through our Support team. I have been testing this today to try to determine the problem. We had tested HanDBase on WM 6.5 before any devices were released and didn't encounter any usability problems. I double checked today that it would run on a WM 6.5 WVGA device using the emulators provided by Microsoft.
Based on my testing this likely has something to do with the Sense UI. I had no problems on the emulator with the Date Picker but then it uses the standard WM UI. So far I've not had any luck finding any development details on HTC's website or any special emulators from them. I actually came to this forum today to see if there was any information on developing for the Sense UI or if any other developers were having problems, as well as to see if a ROM was available that will work in the Emulator. I will search for those things so we can try to do some additional testing.
I am curious, since we don't have an HD2 here, if there is any setting to exclude certain applications from using the Sense UI. I know when Microsoft first added the ability to have larger screen resolutions there was a setting where you could tell the OS not to use that for certain applications that didn't yet support that.
Regards,
David Devaney, Jr.

No, it doesn't look like there's any way to disable the large date pickers. There are a couple of places in Inesoft Cash Organizer where dates are not directly enterable, and no-one has found any way to make the standard WM dialogs appear yet. In the case of Cash Organizer you can see the dialog but the value never makes it back to the date field...
I deactivated Sense UI and use the default Today screen with SPB PocketPlus but this issue seems to be because Sense UI is imbedded into the OS for some dialogs.
6.5 Rom that does work with Handbase
Hi to everyone - glad to come across this thread & see I was not the only one experiencing this problem. I have a Touch Pro2 or Rhodium & tried the following Roms - all had the same datepicker issue:
- [ROM][WWE] 24-Dec ● DeepShining v7 ● Sense 2.5 LANDSCAPE | Leo 2.01 | WM 21887
- [ROM][24/DEC/09]CELL PRO SERIES[The Cell Evo V2][Cell Pro V9.5]UP NOW & Video Preview (this is a 2.1 ROM)
- [ROM][WWE] 24-Dec ● DeepShining v7 ● Sense 2.5 LANDSCAPE | Leo 2.01 | WM 21887
- |STABLE-FAST-PRO|ROM|21885,28014|Josh's New PerfectBlack 1.7-FINAL!|12-26|Sense 2.1| & Test 3 & 4 versions
- [ROM][WWE]|27-12-09|Rhodium_AF|HTC Sense 2.5 LANDSCAPE|LEO 2.XX|WM65 21887|ONLINE| (may have been an earlier dated rom)
- Miri WM65 21885 V9.0 Manila 2.5
The only newer ROM (either Sense 2.1 or 2.5) I could find that didn't have this problem was the Miri WM 6.5 21885 :: MANILA 2.1 :: V 7.0. The date picker is normal. With the non-working ROMS I tried every registry font change I could find with no effect.
Hope this information helps a bit.
Microsoft has released the new minor version of windows mobile....with full support to capacitive screens.
it has the multitouch integrated...and the drag & drop. will HTC integrate this release into a future ROM?
here the article (in italian, at the bottom the link to the original one): http://bit.ly/cZlIuh
"Windows Mobile 6.5.3 brings a more finger-friendly user interface with several new ease of use features such as support for multitouch"
quote from wiki.
so the question is, whether there is native api for multi-touch (and not using HTC ZOOM_IN or whatever messages)
couldn't find any more info

I think they mean Windows Phone 7. As far a I know there isn't any native support for multitouch in WM 6.5.3 The multi-touch features are implemented in a special OEM driver. (But then again, 6.5.3 is a OEM branch, right?)

i mean 6.5.3
just google "windows mobile 6.5.3 multi touch" everyone's just shouting about the native multi-touch support and capacitative screens.
i'm gonna try to download 6.5.3 DTK for VS.
probably there are sample of new API.
"electronista.com" says "Hooks have also been put in place for multi-touch, though this would still need phone builders to have an actual solution"

I think you are right that there a native api support for multitouch gestures: look at this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591698 (There's no import of any additional package required)
EDIT: hold on, this was written for WM 6.5 if I can remember it well. So..

the post is 29th November 2009. the solution from l3v5y works on WinMo 6.5.0 (currently i have 6.5.0) so i guess it's also some kind of hack(non native).
also these solutions (also scillors) have some weird bug: when 2 points are almost on the same axis, you get them aligned.
i don't know if that's the driver or hardware issue.
both solutions by l3v5y and scillor are based on HTC drivers as i see.

Ok, I'm getting pretty curious myself. I've browsed through the windows mobile docs on MSDN, browsed through the forums there, did a search on multitouch, but I really can't find anything. The only thing I could find was something about "gesture api's". But these were already implemented in the 6.5 sdk.
So, if you are finding something on this please let me know
(and you are right, when you do a search on 6.5.3 and multitouch on google you get plenty hits about it. The first hit is your first post by the way... lol )

its 6'th to me (rofl) that's some great SEO
just downloaded WM 6.0 SDK, and 6.5.3 DTK...
it seems that the gesture api got expanded or whatever...
---EDIT---
seems we'll have to wait for SDK :>
the easiest way to try, would be to reflash my hd2 with winmo 6.5.3 and catch messages, and see if they differ somehow..
