I am having trouble getting my Wizard to communicate with a computer running Windows XP and ActiveSync 4.5. It's been awhile since I've synced it to an XP machine, as the one I primarily use is Vista, and it seems to work fine. When I plug it in it either sees it as an internet connection, or if I disable the advanced connection settings on my device it seems to install it correctly, but then it doesn't open up ActiveSync.
I'm running a custom WM6 rom that I installed about a year ago, and was looking to upgrade, which I hear XP is the most reliable for. Any idea what the problem could be? I also don't seem to be able to open Activesync by itself when the device is not installed, could it be a problem with the program itself on my XP machine?
yes
It must be the problem on the xp machine unisntall the activesync reset your pc... reinstall it and then i suggest you... if you will upgrade make a hardreset before plug your device to sync.
Well, that got ActiveSync working again on the PC, the icon showed up on the bar and I was able to open the program. But as soon as I plugged in my device, the program closed again, and now it won't open. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling again, but I got the same result. Any other suggestions?
guys, i'm a new user in using this device & i've got a problem connecting my device to my PC.. my device is using WM 5 while my PC is using windows XP SP 3.. i've installed ActiveSync 4.5 in order to connect my device to my pc.. however, when i plugged in the USB cable into my pc, there was an error saying that "Windows CE USB Device" needs to be installed.. i set the source folder of the driver to be installed in activesync folder installed in my pc but it didn't work.. as the result, the microsoft activesync can't connect my device to my pc.. i've tried to reinstall the software, restart the device, restart the pc but none of them worked.. so anyone can help?? thanks in advance..
problem solved... sigh...
I have seem problem with my hp6815
how you solved this?
thank you
Hi,
Was trying to setup HTC Sync on my PC for the new Wildfire.. The previous HTC Touch was running fine thru Active Sync on my Win 2003 server.. but HTC Sync installed with two failures Windows 11 Media format and HTC Drivers could not be installed.. Later I copied HTC Drivers from supplied sd card and tried to install them separately but it says "Can be installed only on XP/Vista".. is there any ways I can use HT Sync on Windows 2003 Server.. Also will the same problem persists on Windows 2008 server.. I can connect phone and use as Storage but not HT Sync, while HTC Touch is running fine.. any other way to transfer all the contacts/notes from HTC Touch (Win 6.1) to Wildfire(Android 2.1) with just one common sim..
thanks
Windows 2003 Drivers
Hey, Download the file attached to this post. Install the newest HTC Sync 3.0.5481, run the installer, you will have two failiures, the Windows Media Runtime, and the USb drivers. Ignore them and continue with install.
After your done, connect the phone, it will say found new hardware ADB, do not let windows search for it, it will never find it. Instead point to the folder you downloaded, might ask you if you should install unsigned drivers, say yes and viola drivers installed, and htc sync ready to go
Sometimes the drivers need to be forced to install, the Windows hardware installer isnt the sharpest tool in the shed at times
Enjoy.
I have been trying this for hours now. I can't get the drivers for my 1024leo to install on Vista32. I have installed Windows Mobile sync software and it tries to detect the device, but it keeps ending up the same way....unspecified device and shows up in device manager as unknown
any suggestions?
Okay the 20 some odd times I did this last night it didn't work on Vista32....but after a few tries on XP I got it to work by selecting disable charging while connected to usb sync..

Uninstall your antivirus then connect your HD2 via usb.... you should see magic. When you've connected and synced (sanc?), reinstall your antivirus.
P.S. If this works, you may have to do this EVERYTIME YOU FLASH YOUR ROM!
Don't have any installed. I don't use windows normally, just couldn't find a way to flash hspl3 from nix. Same problem with xp & activesync 4.5.
After many attempts and reinstalling the sync apps a cpl times I got it to detect correctly once under both vista and xp, but once I tried to flash the spl...it fails and the devicei goes right back to being unknown.

I tried it on 4 computers, all didn't work
i did the "turn off faster sync thing, that didn't work
ii JUST got this usb cord, so its not broken or anything
i also hard reseted my phone a while back if that helps
thanks in advance
What OS are you running on your HD2?
Windows Mobile 6.5 requires Active Sync to be installed on your machine and should prompt you to do so the first time you connect via USB.
Android should be effortless by just selecting the USB connectivity from the drop down alert menu.
WP7 requires that you have installed the latest version of Windows Mobile Device Center, which can be found by online search. You must download the appropriate x86 or x64 version, as is appropriate to your version of Win7.
Is there a scenario that I've missed?
Thank you for posting!!
