Hi,
Was trying to setup HTC Sync on my PC for the new Wildfire.. The previous HTC Touch was running fine thru Active Sync on my Win 2003 server.. but HTC Sync installed with two failures Windows 11 Media format and HTC Drivers could not be installed.. Later I copied HTC Drivers from supplied sd card and tried to install them separately but it says "Can be installed only on XP/Vista".. is there any ways I can use HT Sync on Windows 2003 Server.. Also will the same problem persists on Windows 2008 server.. I can connect phone and use as Storage but not HT Sync, while HTC Touch is running fine.. any other way to transfer all the contacts/notes from HTC Touch (Win 6.1) to Wildfire(Android 2.1) with just one common sim..
thanks
Windows 2003 Drivers
Hey, Download the file attached to this post. Install the newest HTC Sync 3.0.5481, run the installer, you will have two failiures, the Windows Media Runtime, and the USb drivers. Ignore them and continue with install.
After your done, connect the phone, it will say found new hardware ADB, do not let windows search for it, it will never find it. Instead point to the folder you downloaded, might ask you if you should install unsigned drivers, say yes and viola drivers installed, and htc sync ready to go
Sometimes the drivers need to be forced to install, the Windows hardware installer isnt the sharpest tool in the shed at times
Enjoy.

hello!
i just installed a fresh new copy of Windows Vista x86 Build 5600 and I've realized that Windows Mobile Device Center isn't installed.
I've searched and at Microsoft I've downloaded a file: drvupdate-x86.msi which appears on Control Panel as Windows Mobile Device Center Driver Update!
Well, It's not the program, is it??? I instalde Driver Update but I don't seem to install the Program at all!
I've searched on XDA and I've found some tips, which I've tried with no result!
Add Key to registry at HKLM\Software\Microsoft named WHOS. it's supposed when I plug USB cable to PC and Universal, appear on Windows upgrade saying there is a new upgrade available. Doesnt appear!
I've seen a topic saying:
"...Yes I have it working with both USB / BT :=)
Try this procedure.
1. Download this file.
http://www.download.windowsupdate.co...bc9 4587a.exe
2. Extract it using winrar. This will give you a file "wmupdate.msi"
3. Now be sure to logon to Vista as the built in admin and run "wmupdate.msi" and after that reboot and again login as built in admin, let it complete the install.
4.Login as your regular user, connect you phone and all should work:=)"
Downloaded the file and done all right but I dont seam to make it work!
I've ONCE installed WMDC with no errors but the device appeared "NOT CONNECTED".
Now, after a NEW fresh instalation, I cant even install WMDc!
Please help!
I would like to keep vista installed, but without sync there's no way!!!!

Ive tried searching now for about 2 hours for a fix.
Ive just installed windows 7 x64 pro and i can not get it to work with my HD. It will not recognize it at all. Ive had various problems, always seems different.
Ive tried turning off the enable fast data. This changed the problem, but didnt fix it.
At the moment, i have that enabled and the problem from what i can tell is, in device manager Microsoft Windows Remote Adapter is not working.
If i disable fast data, i get a connecting to host message on my HD screen and nothing else really happens.
Ive tried updating the USB drivers, but that will not work, something to do with unsigned drivers.
Under mobile devices in device manager i get PocketPC USB Sync instead of the HTC usb Sync thing.
Is there a solution for this please?
With me it worked on windows 7x64 straight out of the box. I suggest re-installing win 7.
I'd have to agree, using Windows x64 Professional here and both my Touch HD and my partners work fine (I had to allow Windows to download an updated version of Windows Mobile Device Center first though).
I do not suggest reinstalling Win 7. Geez. Sorry, but that's using an axe to trim a toenail.
Try downloading and reinstall the x64 version of Windows Mobile Device Center. Make sure you get version 6.1. Do not download any driver updates meant for Vista - you don't need them. But this main file will be marked Vista - it includes you too.
Next, it's possible that when you first plugged in the blackstone, a driver install got canceled or didn't happen right. Use your hardware manager and look for any new generic devices or HID devices. You can try deleting the hardware from the list and asking device manager to look again.
MAKE SURE YOU CLOSE WINDOWS MEDIA CENTER.
Good luck.
Installed windows 7 last week.... i mainly use this pc at home and at work i use XP.
Anyway just connected it now to my notebook and after some driver downloads from windows the phone works fine...
make sure u download the latest mobile device center.
I had the same with my Topaz and windows 7. The fix was to disable the windows firewall while syncing.
This solved my sync problems with Windows 7 ultimate x64
Open notepad
write the text : net localgroup Administrators LocalService /add
save the file as e.g. HTC.bat somewhere on your hard drive where you can find it
Locate with Windows Explorer the .Bat file you just edited
Rightclick on the bat fil
select "run as administrator"
restart your computer. Your HTCH Touch HD should connect without problems
Hi,
I'm trying to sync my Hero but it's nerver be recognize by the HTC Sync program.
I've tested under Windows 7 x64, Windows 7 x86 and Windows XP x86 but every time it's the same problem.
Windows detect the device but not HTC Sync.
Is there something special to do on the device or in HTC Sync ?
btw, I'm using latest release of HTC Sync
Download the 2.04 version of HTC sync. This worked for me and was tested on Windows XP x86 and Windows 7 x64
Link is UK version of HTC.com but works just fine
http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=631&news_id=222
Thx, but it was only better for 5 sec
The Sync app, find my phone, and ask me a little name. It has been connected during 5 sec in the HTC Sync and then disconnect and can't connect anymore.
I've update the driver with the one I've find somewhere here in the forum but same problem
Any other suggestions ?
hi,
I having similar issue....
I am running Windows XP...
downloaded the newest version of Sync from HTC last week...
it worked .... i snyced... with contacts and calendar...
even loaded a few programs via Hot Sync...
this week.. I have tried several times to Sync / connect...
Hot Sync.. just dont see the HERO.....
But I can Mount the SDcard and access all data.....
so.. what do you all think... has changed.. settings??
Thanks..
I've got it running with the latest release of HTC Sync.
The problem (under Windows 7) is that Microsoft has release a driver the HTC Phone but it's not working with HTC Sync.
So you need to go into the Device Properties of Windows and change the ADB Modile device driver to point the HTC driver located generaly in %PROGRAM FILES%\HTC\HTC Drivers\Drivers\etc.....
Hope it will help you...
2.0.18 will be out soon, that's W7 compatible plus fixes a few other bugs

Workaround HTC Sync fix for Windows 7
i had windows xp.. check for updates... there was a lot.
rebooted...
now works..
hope it keeps working...
I have done dozens of searches and come across hundreds of people having the same issue as me and not one solution that actually works...
The software: HTC Sync, version: 2.0.18
The OS: Windows 7
The device: HTC Magic (Stock Rogers version)
The issue: HTC sync installed fine, all drivers installed fine, when I connect my Magic to my PC my phone notification area gives me the option to "HTC Sync" when I select that and it searches for a minute or so it says:
"The phone cannot detect HTC Sync at your PC. Please make sure that HTC Sync is installed and opened on your computer."
Tried rebooting my PC and tried rebooting my Magic (as a few different posts suggested). Tried installing different versions of HTC Sync, but 2.0.18 should be the right one as HTC says that it is for Windows 7:
"This release of HTC Sync for Windows 7 allows for users to sync their Android phones”
It seems Many people are having the same issue as me and yet no one has a solution?!?
Any help, pointers or advice would be Very much appreciated.
I've found that it is easiest to just avoid htc sync on windows 7 altogether. Tried to get it working for like 8 hours yesterday. You may be able to make it work if u use windows 7's xp virtualization mode (Google it) and install the program in an xp environment.
But honestly, i say avoid it until HTC makes it work properly

Well even if I wanted to just give up on syncing it, if I can't get my Magic/PC to recognize each other then I can't ever root/upgrade my phone, so giving up is not an option.
Ok I have managed to finally find a solution that works (for me).
1. Install HTC Sync
2. Download these drivers: http://depositfiles.com/files/yd61xorii and then Unzip them
3. connect your Magic to your PC
4. on your PC select: Start>Control Panel>Device Manager>ADB Interface>Rightclick>Update driver software>Browse My Computer For Driver Software>Browse to the location you unziped the drivers to>Let Me Pick From A List(Don't let it pick or it will pick the wrong ones!)>Click on "My HTC">Click Next.
Done.
you can root and upgrade w/o htc sync.
I did it yesterday. you just have to use the goldcard method to flash the proper spl, then you can put anything on the sd card. Windows recognizes the phone as a flash drive regardless of wether or not it works with sync

You can flash your SPL without connecting your phone to your PC? (I just got my Magic to I have never done anything to it yet)
But anyways I also want the ability to use my carrier upgrades and for that I Need my phone to recognize my PC.
And most importantly I need a seamless way to keep all my different phones in sync with Outlook and HTC Sync is the only way to do that. So I'm glad I got it figures out.
HTC Sync here shows it works with Windows 7 now:
http://87.106.248.77/download/Driver//HTC Tattoo/HTC Sync 2.0.18/HTCSync.exe
yeah you can flash a new spl w/o connecting to computer.
but by all means, if you got it working, more power to you
Ive tried all the above idea to get HTC Sync to work on my PC (with Win 7) nothing works......

Have you got your Magic rooted and customized the ROM?
I was able to connect few days ago, after I upgraded to 1.6 and lately 2.1, I was unable to do so...
I recived a HTC Legend from Italy [Fast Web], unlocked, but the problem is I can't access to the phone with the HTC sync, the phone is hardly recognized by the computers (tried win7 x64, win 7 x86 and for XP x86 not working at all) windows say "can't recognize usb device" but with some tutorial here in the forum windows reconized the device as Android phone and that all, HTC sync still don't work and either if I use the phone as a flash disk, windows can't access to the MicroSD card, but the card work well if I put it directly to the computer!
What this problem? what can I do? If i debrand the phone it will resolve the problem?
Help plz!!!

HTC sync is also a bit bugy for me, but it usualy works if I first connect the phone, start the program and only after this I choose how it should connect to the computer.
However, it should always work as a flash drive (if you choose it) without any problems.
I think you should first make a hard reset and if it's still not working then take it back and get a new one.
download the latest version of HTC Sync and use it.
Thanks for your answer so quick! The HTC sync is updated for legend v2.0.33. but still the same problem, may be the USB is bricked?
