Hello,
I try to update my Samsung Omnia addict player I900 with "Phone Software Update" application. The problem is that this application is not able to see that my PDA is connected to the PC. I'm using windows Vista and "Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1.xx". Windows Mobile Device center shows my device as "Connected".
I already tried to unplug and re-plug the usb cable but it didn't solve the problem. "Phone Software Update" still don't see my PDA?
Does anyone of you already had this problem?
If yes, did you managed to solve it?
Thanks in advance for your responses.
Alain
Hi,
download "new pc studio" (NPC) from Samsung home page. After installing it let the program update itself first. Then connect your PDA via "USB" (it takes quite a long time over bluetooth to have your phone updated). Select "update" then it will try to find an update for your phone. Follow the instructions on the screen.
Thks
You can also try with "KIES"

this is exactly what I installed: mobile device center 6.1
problem is that while with xp+active sync it was enough to connect the devoce to the usb and sync would start automatically, now after connecting I have to run the device center manually
try and get the latest version of wmdc, see if it helps
Try this http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...f1-e46a-4a5f-a791-09f07aaa1914&displaylang=en
Hi!
I have tried now on two computers (one old windows 2000 platforn with activesync 4.2 and the other with Windows Vista Ultimate x64 with WMDC) and on the old platform it starts to connect but after a while an error. On the new I get no connection to WMDC. I always use my USB cable. The cable works, both loads and turn my loadinglight from yellow to green. My smartphone is a QTEK 9100 Windows mobile 5.
The error occured after I did scan on the phone for duplicated files and removed them. Afterwards it just wont sync. I have tried some tools, turning of firewall, reinstaling and all of the stuff recommended on the WMDC but now I am lost
What should I do?

You may have removed a critical file that you needed for syncing when you removed the duplicate files. Does whatever program you used for that have a restore option? If not, you may need to backup the files you want to save and do a hard reset.
I have tried a hard reset now and it still dosent work. Now I am deeply lost
Try going to start-->settings-->connections tab-->usb to pc and either check or uncheck the enable advanced network functionality check box and see if that fixes it.
I have the same problem...
I have the same problem, i can't sync with my pc. it only shows a balloon that said "Unrecognized Device". I can not find the usb to pc box to be checked... pls help me. thank you
I have tried to find the pc to usb tab but I just can´t find it. I am running a swedish version of wm 5, but it still should be under connections. But it isn´t.
Please note that with the "old" notebock, with vista too, i have use the Hermes without problem.
Just connect via usb and all works fine.
Now with the new notebock (same os (wm6.0 in ppc, and vista home in the notebock)) i have problems.
Vista dont recognize hermes.
so i cant connect ppc to notebock.
Some ona have idea how can i do a connection and a sync with vista.
Ps
i have install the wmdc but dosent works.
Please help.
pps
i have try to unceck enable advanced network funcionality, but when i do this i receive this error:
Fallied to disable RNDIS to use serial.
nobody can help me?
Damn
im going be crazy.
if i use internet sharing and conect the pda with notebook all works fine.
Pc find the rnids device and i can go to internet.
But if i try to sync the pc dont reconize the ppc...
welcom to the VISTA world
I've had nothing but issues with Vista and WM6 on my Hermes.
The few things I can suggest.
1) As you say Disable the Advanced networking....
2) Connect directly to a USB port, not through a hub.
3) Try soft-resetting your phone between connection attempts.
4) Remove associations between Vista and your phone.
I find that the first time I connect it everything's good, but on subsequent attempts it's hit and miss.
If you are using vista, there's an update for Windows Mobile software on the microsoft website.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/devicecenter.mspx
you need to install 6.1 for it in order for WM6 to work with vista.
Cheers

If he is using the same version of WM Device center on both computers and i am assuming he is, then i doubt it will fix the problem by downloading the latest version as i have that version installed on both my pc's.
I had the same problem, where windows just detected the device as an unknown device and therefore wouldnt let me sync.
right click on my computer and click manage, then plug in your device and see if you have any unknown devices appearing if you do right click on it and click uninstall then unplug the device and wait 10 seconds then plug it back in, this solved it for me. Although i still have to do this every so often. But at least it allows me to sync with both my pc's
Yesterday i tried to upgrade rom of my Qtek S200 device. I uploader temp rom after that when it comes to installation of wm6 rom my device could not connect to my pc via ActiveSync. I have Windows XP. When i plug the device to my pc it shows an error message : ""There was a problem installing this hardware Windows Mobile-based Device" What can i do please help me...
Put the device in bootloader, and flash a new WM5 NVID ROM.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Prophet_recovery
but i cannont connect my device with activesync when i try that it tries to find a driver. finds a driver and installs that but after that "There was a problem installing this hardware Windows Mobile-based Device" message appears and i can not connect my device to pc.
can i upgrade roms with Windows Vista?
Uninstall active sync. Restart. Re install activesync. Restart. Then put your device into bootloader. Disable connect through USB in active sync and then connect the device and PC and then try to flash a WM5 ROM.
Vista won't work with upgrading because of the drivers.
I had just write a post in my thread about this. I have the same problem intalling the device in PC.
Before I had put the actual ROM in my phone, I went to bootloader and inserted another ROM in this case an official one... right now I cannot go to bootloader . Do I have to do a HardSPL!? probably this is the solution for quaschi!

hello i just get my htc hd2 and i want to install apps and games and do all those stuff that are in this website.. (put android....etc....)
but i cant because i cannot open Windows mobile device center... i have windows 7 ultimate 64-bit OS.... i have tried thousands of methods to make it work and i still cant!!... the WMDC icon appears in the all programs list but i click it and nothing happens... also there is a folder named windows mobile and the C:\Windows... but nothing works!!... i connect my HTC HD2 and run it in Sync mode and in Storage Mode and nothing happens again !
IM SO DESESPERATE!!!
if someone could help me i would be so happy thanks...
if need more info just tell me!
Try a few things-
1-Check to see if you have the latest version of WMDC, which is version 6.1
2-Reinstall WMDC if you do indeed have the latest version
3-Goto device manager and delete your Windows phone from your PC
4-It may be your device, try a hard-reset if that up there fails
5-and finally, if ALL ELSE fails, it may be your USB connector on your phone is bad. We have seen this quite a few times, seems to be a fairly common problem.
One other possibility.... the ugly truth is that I have to uninstall my antivirus program everytime I flash my rom and create a new partnership with WMDC. UGH!! this was microsoft's only answer to the problem. Please try it before you do a hard reset.
for me it never syncs (after a new flash) until i
settings menu all settings connection usb to pc
untick"enable faster data"
if you have connected the phone before doing this, reboot both the phone and the pc and try again.
I was having what I think is the same problem. Try going to setting (the tab in Sense) and select other. There is an icon that says something like usb-computer open that and de-select speed up ActiveSync conectivity or something along thoes lines.
I was able to sync after that.
