Problem with Replacement HD2???? - HD2 General

Hello all,
I loved my HTC when I first bought it but in my excitement a week later dropped it and crack the screen all to crap...since I have recieved a replacement because I bought the insurance....
The Problem:
My programs don't want to work right. (worked fine on original)
I can receive a MMS or video message anymore ????
Locking up on programs.....
I don't know what wrong with this one...I check the rom version and I have the latest one...I think...is this right?
2.13.531.1 (90963) WWE (whatever that means)
Is the late rom total crap or what...should I reset and start over???
Any Ideas??

Yes, I would hard-reset right from the start, before you add or try anything else. That often clears up odd behavior on a fresh ROM, and it's always a good idea to do one at that time anyway to prevent the same. If it still doesn't work right then, let us know and we'll troubleshoot from there. Your symptoms as described don't point to any single source.
And yes, that is the latest official ROM you have on there

What type of phone did you get under insurance - refurbished or brand new in the box? Just curious what they are sending.

They are sending new phones not in the original box. At least that is what I received about a month ago... You get the phone without the battery, cover or cables, books, box, etc..

I just got htc hd2 replacement right now, and I noticed that it has the same problem my old phone had since I upgraded it to 2.13.531.1 which is the glitchy and jerky scrolling. ( this new, or refurbished, phone has also 2.13.531.1)...this rom really sucks.

New Orange-version handset

I'm sorry to report, but Orange will now be shipping out devices with an Orange ROM. No Google Earth, changed quick-app icons and who knows what other modifications... I couldn't find any... Well, there's a GPS Settings thing, but it only shows about Assisted GPS which I'm sure I saw in the other ROM.
Still comes with an 8GB Transcend memory card and nothing extra in the box. If you're getting one in the next few weeks, make sure the barcode at the top says GHTN. If it says OHTN, it's the Orange ROM.
google earth??
Why do orange ruin perfectly good phones? They also did it to S60 Nokia's which is why ive avoided orange for the last 6 years.
Orange are alright but their ROM-faffing is just an exercise in self-importance that is not appreciated.
so mess with the rom and terrible web browsing limits
I'm happy to report that I just received my orange HD (ordered the other day when they came back in stock on the web shop) and it's not got a messed up ROM (box has the GHTN code as described above). As far as I can tell there is no orange branding anywhere at all. Makes me think that the current batch might be with stock ROMs ... get your order in quick ???
Orange recieved 5000 new phones a week monday ago. about 3 days ago they were available for delivery. mine was one of them and its only orange branding is the rear cover. and TBH this in not an issue as i like the logo on the cover. the rom is standard with all the trimings....
Once again
Google Earth????
If you buy from CarPhoneWarehouse you will get unbranded and unlocked.
Even on an Orange contract.
I've no idea how long this will last though.
Ah yes, forgot about the little orange logo on the rear cover. So it's "no orange branding anywhere at all ... except for the logo", though I was actually thinking about the software rather than the hardware when I wrote that.
Info update
Don't worry about the hadset being Orange Battered... sorry, i mean branded (lol) to much folks. If you haven't been snooping aroung the development side of the forum that much, let me bring you up to speed.
The Hard SPL is out. I just change my ROM (as you'll see on my signature) without any worry whatsoever.
The odd thing is, i never had an Orange ROM on mine. I had a standard one and i HAD to change it for one simple reason... something i advise all people to do as a matter of fact.
Why? Well during texting, stylus or hand input, the thing would freeze more that a very sick penguin. It was AWFUL
Have a peek at other ROM's that are about and if you need advice, ask about. I'm no expert but if you ask me, i'll try my best. It really was very very easy following Oli's Hard SPL thread.
Anyway, i've said my bit now. The rest as they say... is up to you!
TheShowStopper
There's a hotfix on the HTC support site to fix the freezing problem on all ROMs < 1.19.
If you don't want to go the Hard SPL route, surely you can flash the older Orange ROM? (That's what I've got and it not been Orangized.)

I can confirm the following. As long as you have the Micorsoft Net Framework on your pc, yes, you can flash any HTC ROM to the HD. I have just done this. See the following post of mine.

why
hi I am a complete nooby to WM (switched from an iphone).
My Orange box has the OHTN on so I guess I have the Orange Rom (as no google maps).
To be honest I find the HD to be quite slow when opening programs and seems a bit buggy as it seems to stutter on some operations
Whats the benefits for me of changing this ROM??

Hey there!
Havent you just answered your own question?
The benifts of changing the rom would be google maps (although a simple download could also fix that)
Also a handset that isnt buggy and stutters!
I have the orange ROM
didn't realise orange had been sending them out with HTC ROMs!
bluetooth is faulty
programs open slowly
blimmin opera has orange's naff front page
am loath to flash a proper ROM unless the bluetooth fault is
hardware and then I'd have to cover my tracks before sending it back
any help would be appreciated
cheers

Updates for Htc Touch Pro2

Guys.. i read on the net about two updates for htc touch pro2..
one to fix a bug about texting abroad.. and another about gps capability..
i found some links but i don't know how to actually update my phone..
could someone explain me?
(i heard there was already a thread about this but i couldnt find.. sorry)
You probably didn't check the obvious place for instructions. Try the HTC support site where you actually get those updates. They have detailed instructions. Not sure what more you can ask for.
You may also want to look here.
Btw, it appears you have to update to the latest ROM that was recently released before you can install the updates. And from other users' comments, the message appears to be "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

I couldnt get mine to work. Said my phone is not compatible? Its a touch pro 2 how is that wrong? also tried to do a windows update on the phone it self and that would not work either.
help?
error 294 is what I have got as well.
seems, there is generic error by HTC.
I even tried to discuss with support, but they have no idea on how to deal with.

I am on vacation south-west poland this year. and, what is strange, my tp2 has lost position at about 50 miles from polish-czech border and got a fix immediately after border crossing. when driving back and forth few times, it behaved same way each time: loosing position after 2-3 miles on polish side and fixing right after returning to czech rep. hmmm...

Have you got a Vodafone branded TP2? I have and it says my device is not compatible or suitable or something with the upgrade OR even the Co-Pilot 15 day demo... GRRRR
Of course there is also nothing on the Vodafone site...

btw, htc have removed gps fix from their web - it was there yesterday but today disappeared, maybe they prepare a new release?

Ive had disruptions when using the GPS myself. The way i see it, the phone is actally in need of a gps fix.
When i drove north for my vacation i was running garmin on the tp2. Suddenly it just lost GPS signal, on clear blue sky.
So, when i went south again, i used gps on my diamond as well as my tp2.
Apears the tp2 loose gps alot easier than diamond. Didnt loose gps once on diamond, but tp2 lost signal 6 times over 7 hours driving.

Actually not true. The phone companies put their own ROMs on and often take off/ add on software and sometimes even functuality, making them different to the OEM version. EG mine (a UIK Vodafone version) came with FM radio already installed - reading this forum shows that not everyone had it on their basic ROM.
Also ask anyone with a Vodafone TP2 if it's exactly the same as an HTC one... it's not and has its own thread discussing work arounds to change its appearance as you can't simply change it without outside software!

Signal problem!

Helle xda
I have a signal problem on my Blackstone. Let me begin from the beginning. Firrst of all, my mom and dad had HTC HD aka. Blackstone, and I use Nokia N97. My moms HD stopped working (Touch screen issue), well she leaved it alone and now it is somewhere in the house. My dad bought Leo and gave the Blackstone to my mom. But the problem starts here, my fathers "old" phone, HD loses the signal when you are in a middle of call. First time, when my mom told me it I thinked that maybe was becouse of her SIM card, and she ordred a new one but the problem is still there. Today I got the HD from her, he bought her self a LEO Now, I have the Blackstone but it still haves the same issue, I called one of my friends and told him that I was going to try to find what the problem was with this phone so I sett him at loudspeaker and watched the phone while we was talking. So, I figured out the issue. The signal of phone studdenly falls down to zero (I mean the signal indicators) then it reases, and I can make a call again.
This phone has NEVER been modded or what you name that stuff with costum ROMs etc. I updated to the lastest official rom from HTC but the problem is still there. I use Norwegian rom, but if English one or Turkish one can fix this issue that's okay too. Sometimes it take 2 minutes before it happends other times I can talk up to 5-6 minutes. Acctualy, I have never hanged me on how long it takes my phone to "crash"
The thing is now, is this an physical or mental damage/error/issue ? (Of course, I mean the Blackstone)
And, I am sorry for my english, it is acctualy my 4th language.
I would be happy if someone here can help me about this, thanks for reading

ROM Information: 1.56.409.0 (43972) NOR
ROM date: 03/09/09
RadioVersion: 1.13.25.24
Hi there,
How old is your phone exactly? Have you considered having the device replaced if it's under warranty and insurance contract?
Other than that, you could try flashing to a different Radio version as this can resolve many issues with reception, battery consumption, call quality, GPS signal strength, heat issues, etc. You can try another radio version to compare and see if this makes a difference.
Please note: if your phone is under warranty, by flashing to a new Radio version that is different from your stock Radio version, this will invalidate your warranty. However, you can always flash back to your stock radio version of you need to send it to HTC repairs.
For more information on flashing to a new Radio version, please see this link.
Hey there, thank you for your answer!
I cannot remember when exactly I boght my phone but, it has only:
28h. 34m. and 56s. As incoming calls
and
30h. 48m. and 25s. As outgoing calls.
Maybe about 1 year old?
However, this is very low valuves, I got about 91h (Yes, I konw it sounds crazy) last month with my SE P1i.
I can try another Radio versions, can you prefer anyone ? Or is it like, I must test and find out what is best for my Blackstone ?

[Q] "Mobile of the year '09" bull****

I just got my HD2 back from repairs after 1 month now, I had the problem where the phone freezes up when I recieve calls. This got fixed, and I have not noticed any of the symtoms I had earlier. But now...
1. The FM-Radio does not work.
2. When I connect my phone to my computer, my computer sais: "One of the usb devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it. for assistance in solving this problem, click this message." And just connect - disconnect - connect - disconnect.
3. When I turn on my cellphone, I get a warning: BTTrayCE er ikke et gyldig Pocket Pc-program. (BTTrayCE is not a valid Pocket PC-program in English)
It just kills me that the phone that actually won the "Mobile of the year '09" by Amobil.no, sucks more than the Iphone.
Should I just send my phone back to repairs again, or do you guys have any idea how to fix this without using another month in repairs?

First off, I'm sorry to see that your phone is having these issues. Mine has worked like a charm ever since I installed the first custom ROM.
Now my question; have you HSPL'ed your phone yet?
You could try installing another (custom) ROM and a newer radio version to see if it helps.. It might aswell fix your problems.

I did use HSPL before I sent my phone to repairs, but it did not fix any problems, therefore I do not believe in HSPL'ing anymore.. I did not notice any difference at all, after installing a custom rom, or radio..
I see.. Have you tried Task29 yet? (Formatting it completely)
And then installing the latest Radio + a custom rom? (Before trying this, be SURE you have HSPL'ed it!)
If you've already tried that, I think the only thing you'd be able to do is to get a huge stone (or your HD2 itself), put a note on it saying 'It still does not work properly', and throwing it through the window of any HTC office in your country .
Or just open a ticket/calling them saying it still doesn't work and that you demand a replacement/new phone, as how it is now it's kinda an expensive brick.

Do HTC even bother about their customers? Doesn't seem so, seeing that if the cellphone should have any problems of this sort, they say you will get a new phone. But rather getting a new phone, I got the old one back, in worse condition than before.
Also, I wonder if they can check my problems? Because we have a law in Norway, if the same problem occours after 3 times repaired, you can either get a new phone or money back (same with all other electronics). So could I just lie and say I have the same problem + the new problems? **** the ethics ..

Task29 isn't that risky.. Just run HSPL again and get that done, then run the packed exe as found in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=644781. As long as you press the VolDown button when it restarts, you will be totally fine. However in your case, I'd indeed not expect much improvement, as it really seems to be a hardware problem.

I think it is all the same with those big corporations. One customer, who cares? As long as their phones sell, why would they bother? Same story all over again.
I'd go for the three strikes = new phone way. However, it does suck to have your phone taken away from you for another month or so..
sorry mate..mine works like a charm since day one must be just u it still is the best phone
lmao it has some disadvantages (like tft screen,no tv out/hdmi out/crap loudspeaker) but lmao its still better than most phones out there

Guess what, it is the lastest stock, I just checked it.. Norwegian atleast, and I don't bother using other languages (even English). Just posted a ticket on HTC.com/no, and then I will send it to repairs again, and again, and then I'm changing to a Samsung Galaxy S..
I've heard Samsung support is even worse than HTC..
But indeed, the Galaxy S does have features that our phone lacks.. Still, I think the HD2 looks more sexy.

The HD2 looks way better, I do agree. But my brother bought himself a samsung galaxy s, and he's going to start making games and apps, so he could teach me a little bit, and if I have problems, I could go to him rather than sending it to repairs, (not all problems are easily solved on the intarwebz) and then I'd get rid of Windows Mobile..

I had the same issue too. TomTom replaces two BT files (Your bluetooth should not work by now) so the BT application can not start up properly. THIS fixes at least this problem (Use Resco Explorer or TotalCommander and unhide system files).
I hope you'll find help for your other issues, too.

Well, instead of buying a licence, you hack it, using a keygen of some sort :S Didn't quite get what I did, but I used CMD to open a keygen and create a file :S Was weird, but hey, I did it... After 2 hours of trying
Easy when you know how, but im sure its not something that should be discussed on the forums. (WTB TomTom for sale from the australian site, as i feel its worth the cash)
anyway, darkkoushirou is correct regarding TomTom + Bluetooth.
I found it easier to install it to the SD card then factory reset. Once thats done i used total commander to simply copy a link back into your start menu.
Now that my custom ROM has XDA_UC i have set it to auto-copy the link back to my start menu after each rom upgrade
I know that when i got the handset i was trying many different apps, some of which caused issues. Once you get an idea of the ones you need, doing a factory reset is recommended. Then only install the 'good' ones.

Wierd Problem!! GOT PICS!

when i get this problem in the phone it doesnt make any sound when someone call or when the ringer is set up and i need to restart it so it will be fine but this problem has been showing up for 3 month and i got no idea what is making it!! and it makes my phone sometimes freeze and heat up :S
Are you currently on the stock ROM?
Yes T-mobile Stock rom 3.14
Have you considered trying one of the custom WinMo 6.5 ROMs? If this is an issue with the stock ROM or any recent updates then I'm certain the chefs in the WinMo 6.5 section have addressed it.
I'm on tytung's NexusHD2-Gingerbread V3.0 currently and have been flashing different Android ROMs since I got my HD2 Just some food for thought.
I upgraded my ROM from T-mobile center but still no effect and im abit of new in this and i dont know how to do cooked ROM's and i dont want to brick my HD2 :S
Have you tried a hard reset (factory restore)?
You will need to backup your contacts etc first but this will fix any software issue you have.
If the problem persists after that, it is something more serious.
Yes already did 4 times!!! and backed up all my stuff with PIM Back up
anyone help?
Sounds like a hardware problem. this is a warranty issue.
also, you might have selected something wrong in the gsm/cdma settings, check your network settings.
