Every time i change my sim card I notice that my APN settings just seem to vanish. Even if its a sim card for the same network. Is this normal?
Yup i think its normal. Same thing happens on mine when i switch sims

Hi,
i have a new g1 phone, which was unlocked last week. everything worked for a short while, but suddenly i've received a "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network" error message, and couldn't find a network anymore.
i've tried to hard-reset, but since then it doesn't recognizes my sim card (or any other sim card). i just get a 'no sim card in phone' message.
what can i do?
thanks!
tal
Go to your carrier's nearest store and get a new SIM card?
The first step might be to remove and CLEAN your simcard.
If that doesn't work, concentrate on REPLACING the simcard.
well, i've already tried 3 different sim cards, none of which were recognized by the G1, so i'm assuming this isn't caused by the card itself. right?
Settings -> Security & location -> Set up SIM card lock -> disable then re-enable Lock SIM card.
That should fix it.
I am also having this problem with my G1; I have no service on any of the sim cards i have tested.
When searching for networks it happily finds them all, but will not connect.
I tried the tip mentioned above with no luck.
If anyone knows the solution that would be fantastic!
I have no signal and under the notifications bar It says "Selected network (T-mobile UK) is unavailable. So I thought let me change the sim, I did it still doesn't work. I checked and cleaned the sim card hole. Didn't work, I tried to set it manually under networks and select network, it didn't work also I checked my IMEI but my IMEI is still shown but my signal is -113dBm so what's the problem? I even flashed and factory reset to stock still the problem persists. Right now I'm using Kyrillos rom 10.5. Thanks in advanced.
Might sound stupid but try the Sim in another phone?

I've tried 2 sims and they both work in another phone. Seems like it could be a faulty sim card slot. Guess it's time to throw out my G3 had it now for over a year.
I swapped sim card on my cell phone, i have n9005 (running 4.4.2 TouchWiz Rooted) and works on every network in my country,
the other sim card worked fine, i kept on swapping 2 sims because sometimes i had to use 3g on the other network.
Today it suddly stopped, now my both sim cards are not working.
I have restarted my phone, pulled out battery and also reinserted my sim card, no success.
Any solution?
EDIT: I fixed it, thanks

Hi all,
On a Honor or Oneplus, you can switch the mobile data from sim1 to sim2 and the 3G/4G switch also... But on the Xperia Z5 the SIM is ONLY 2G !!! There is a tweak or idea for switching without change the SIM card slot
Sounds like you just need to select your data SIM slot as the 4G one.
From the manual:
Selecting a SIM card for data traffic
Either of the two SIM cards inserted in your device can handle data traffic, but only
one SIM card can be selected to handle data at any given time. You can select the
SIM card to use for data traffic during the initial setup of your device, or you can
select or change it later via the Settings menu.
To change the SIM card used for data traffic
1 From your Home screen, tap
2 Find and tap Settings > Dual SIM settings > SIM card for data traffic
3 Select the SIM card that you want to use for data traffic, then tap OK to confirm.
For higher data speeds, select the SIM card that supports the fastest mobile network, for
example, 3G or LTE.
Selecting mobile networks
Your device supports the use of two different networks at the same time. You can
select from the following network mode combinations when two SIM cards are
inserted in your device:
- One LTE network and one GSM network
- One WCDMA network and one GSM network
- Two GSM networks
For each SIM card, you can set your device to switch automatically between mobile
networks depending on which mobile networks are available where you are. You can
also manually set your device to use a particular mobile network mode for each SIM
card, for example, WCDMA or GSM.
Different status icons are displayed in the status bar depending on the type or mode
of network that you are connected to.

You Can switch networks without changing the sim cards, it's in "mobile network settings".
Thank Reza !!

No, just tested that. Maybe your second sim card doesn't have 3G/4G coverage.
Hey guys, I tried my dad's CDMA sim in my phone and im able to make calls with no problem. My issue is that the APN settings disappear the moment a CDMA sim is inserted and am therefore unable to use my mobile data. The apn settings reappear the moment i put my own GSM sim back in. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
