I HAD a G1, just upgraded to the Vibrant.
Before I upgraded, I noticed my USB cable developed a short,
so I looked around and found a few on Amazon for $0.01 with reasonable
shipping, so I ordered 2 of them. Before those cables arrived, I upgraded
to the Vibrant. Now I don't really need them anymore.
Well, I was just sitting here mumbling about how Sony did NOT include
a charging cable for their accessory controllers and was a little upset.
Then I noticed the connection. Sure enough, as I am doing it right now, you
can use the G1 USB cable to charge your PS3 controllers. Plugs right in, the
system recognized it, and it is charging. Nice.
The price difference in the cables is considerable, at least in my experience.
Just thought I would share.
No surprise while both PS3 pads and G1 are using miniUSB as a charging interface. It is recognized because of using standard drivers for sdcard, I think it is read as a standard pendrive or sth like that.
I am charging the controller on the PS3 with the G1 USB cable. I am not charging the G1 on the PS3.

You can charge the G1 via the PS3
You can charge the PS3 controllers via the G1 AC adaptor, or usb cable
Hey Guys
Just wondered if i would be able to use a HTC Sync cable (micro usb) with a Nexus S? Are they standard cables?
Just dont want to send a freakish charge from my pc through my htc micro usb sync cable to my soon to be new Nexus S
Thanks,
JD
i think that wouldn't be any problem because it is also micro usb! i will take my old nokia 6700 cable, like i did with my i9000^^
It is a standard. You can use any microUSB charger that outputs 500-1000mA @ 5v. (IE: just about all of them)

Hooked up my Acer to my HDTV with a HTC cable I had (HTC HDMI Cable - D-type to A-type connector) . Really nice quality and it mirrors the Acer (meaning whatever is shown on the Acer is shown on the TV). This is nice after my experience with my HTC EVO 4g phone... only certain apps on the phone would output to the TV. A little of the display was cut off as my HDTV has limited overscan, but it was great for watching websites with flash video or watching downloaded movies.

I love it, and it works exceptionally well. I have been playing NFS Shift on my 90 inch screen and looks every bit as good as on the tablet screen. I was a little concerned with what the quality was going to be like, but my worries were put to rest. I had my droid x hdmi cable that work with the tab perfectly. It's a good thing cuz I never used it for my droid x as it does not mirror the display like this tab does. I give kudos to Acer for building an outstanding product.

Haha NFS is so good on my TV also. I play it more than my consoles atm.

Cable Sensitivity
My HDMI out is very sensitive to the position of the cable. For instance, if I lay the Acer on a flat surface the HDMI out works great. Once I lift the tablet and cause any downward strain to the HDMI connection I lose the signal. If I hold the cable in place while holding the tablet I get the signal again.
Is this a defect specific of my tablet or is this an issue with the connection using mini HDMI? If a few of you are playing NFS I'm assuming I may have a loose HDMI out connector.
Faulty HDMI out
Well I took the Acer back to BB after further inspecting the connection. The HDMI out of the A500 was so loose that the slightest movement caused the output connection to be lost. Best Buy was extremely accommodating including offering to custom cut an anti-glare screen protector that I had applied myself in order to match the product I was exchanging.
We tested the device's HDMI output and all is well. Wel except me having to start over and re-configure a new tablet
Good to hear. My cable should be arriving today but I think I now made a mistake buying a 6' cable. It was only $4.50 so ill see how it works ands will probably get a 15' for playing games.

A500 not connecting to TV through HDMI
Hey all,
Seeing as you are discussing cables and HDMI here, figured this may be the best spot for my question.
I recently bought an A500 tab 32GB and have been trying to connect it to my Panasonic 127cm Plasma TV through HDMI.
Ordered a HDMI to HDMI mini cable (type A to C) and tried to connect the tablet to the TV, but no luck.
The Tab screen shows HDMI connected but the TV screen remains black and there is no mirroring at all.
Any advise? Could it be the cable, tab or TV?
Unfortunately don’t have other devices with HDMI that I could test
Thanks for the help
Use HDMIwin

Take it into the local electronics store and test it on a TV there. Act like you're interested in the TV and you wanted to test it out with your tablet.

I should be getting my 15 foot cable from Monoprice this week and will report back too.
Honeycomb needs an overscan adjuster. Even the DROID X2 has one.

Uhm yeah, I knew you guys were going to travel down the pathway of the cable quality for some reason. My 15 foot HDMI cable from Monoprice works great, as does everything else I've ever ordered from there.

You've completely missed my point. I have ordered plenty from here. I am asking is there something I missed? Or should I simply return it for exchange? Video was fine but no audio... gonna try my other TV.

I'm sensing a little sarcasm, or at least I hope you have more faith in me than that.
Edit: Now thats weird, audio worked fine on my other TV.
The TV not working has HDMI coming from my Denon receiverinto HDMI 1, but I use my receiver and surround sound for the audio... Just thought of something though, because the TV volume doesn't work for cable TV unless the receiver is off...
I got this cable from Amazon.com, 15 feet, and it has worked fine on two different tv's.
Eh, starting to wonder if the speakers on my TV are bad. I've used my receiver speakers exclusively for a long time and never use the TV speakers. When the receiver is off, the audio is suppose to bypass the receiver and route the the TV speakers... I get nothing now. And no audio on a completely separate HDMI input on the same TV. The fact I got audio on my second TV is enough fto convince me the cable is fine. Time to talk to Best Buy about my main TV...
I got the HDMI MHL adapter for my Note 3 and it works but I have to have the power plugged in to the adapter as well
Has anyone tried any mhl adapter with this phone where you did Not need to run power to?
that would make things a lot easier as you would only need the MHL adapter and hdmi cable in that case
I bought an lg monitor with mhl support and use the cable which came with it (no usbpower plug) and i got nothing on thw screen.
Maybe bcuz its a 4pin and no 11pin mhl

Hi everybody.
I want to connect my nexus 4 to my old CRT TV for screen mirroring. How is it possible? My tv is only has a scart socket(i can convert it to rca output) What kind of an adapter/cable/converter i need? Please give me a cheap solution. Because if it will be expensive, i can buy an android mini pc...
Thanks.
Slimport to hdmi adaptor to start and that into a hdmi to scart converter box. Probably not worth doing.
Yeah, converter boxes are bloody expensive. It will be cheaper to get a second hand lcd monitor.
Omg hdmi to scart converter boxes are really expensive :/ is there any cheaper way for slimport to rca or scart? So if isn't i will buy an android tv box with av output...
