Hi everybody.
I want to connect my nexus 4 to my old CRT TV for screen mirroring. How is it possible? My tv is only has a scart socket(i can convert it to rca output) What kind of an adapter/cable/converter i need? Please give me a cheap solution. Because if it will be expensive, i can buy an android mini pc...
Thanks.
Slimport to hdmi adaptor to start and that into a hdmi to scart converter box. Probably not worth doing.
Yeah, converter boxes are bloody expensive. It will be cheaper to get a second hand lcd monitor.
Omg hdmi to scart converter boxes are really expensive :/ is there any cheaper way for slimport to rca or scart? So if isn't i will buy an android tv box with av output...

I ordered a 3.5mm cable to 3 rca connector last week but it's not Nokia.
I'll let you know when I get the phone.
Yes, both audio (stereo) and video is sent via the 3.5mm cable, used this to watch a movie the other day.

I plugged mine into a Zune (Gen 1) AV cable that I have connected to my head unit in my car...turned on TV out and it worked like a champ.
FWIW, Avatar on the Vibrants is DRMed and it disables the TV out when you play it. You can watch the trailer just fine, but firing up the actual movie brings up a message about not being able to display it on the TV.
Is there any way to turn off the screen whilst using the tv out function? It seems a waste to leave it on, and given how much I watch tv, would significantly limit the phones screen life.
Also curious if its possible to display different things on both the phone and tv? For example using the tv as the display and phone as a controller for gaming.
First of all, where did you get the tv out cable? Is it suppose to come with the phone? Because I didnt get one :-(
you have to buy them separatly (less than 5 dollar) and you need a special adapter aswell (not out yet)
All you need is a Nokia TV out cable, I bought one from e-bay for less than £2, 3$.
The cable plugs into the earphone socket at the phone end, and into the component IP on the TV.
Works well on mine.
Nice question i think...i guess it would be much nicer if our SGS could do separation both display on TV and on screen itself...

Hooked up my Acer to my HDTV with a HTC cable I had (HTC HDMI Cable - D-type to A-type connector) . Really nice quality and it mirrors the Acer (meaning whatever is shown on the Acer is shown on the TV). This is nice after my experience with my HTC EVO 4g phone... only certain apps on the phone would output to the TV. A little of the display was cut off as my HDTV has limited overscan, but it was great for watching websites with flash video or watching downloaded movies.

I love it, and it works exceptionally well. I have been playing NFS Shift on my 90 inch screen and looks every bit as good as on the tablet screen. I was a little concerned with what the quality was going to be like, but my worries were put to rest. I had my droid x hdmi cable that work with the tab perfectly. It's a good thing cuz I never used it for my droid x as it does not mirror the display like this tab does. I give kudos to Acer for building an outstanding product.

Haha NFS is so good on my TV also. I play it more than my consoles atm.

Cable Sensitivity
My HDMI out is very sensitive to the position of the cable. For instance, if I lay the Acer on a flat surface the HDMI out works great. Once I lift the tablet and cause any downward strain to the HDMI connection I lose the signal. If I hold the cable in place while holding the tablet I get the signal again.
Is this a defect specific of my tablet or is this an issue with the connection using mini HDMI? If a few of you are playing NFS I'm assuming I may have a loose HDMI out connector.
Faulty HDMI out
Well I took the Acer back to BB after further inspecting the connection. The HDMI out of the A500 was so loose that the slightest movement caused the output connection to be lost. Best Buy was extremely accommodating including offering to custom cut an anti-glare screen protector that I had applied myself in order to match the product I was exchanging.
We tested the device's HDMI output and all is well. Wel except me having to start over and re-configure a new tablet
Good to hear. My cable should be arriving today but I think I now made a mistake buying a 6' cable. It was only $4.50 so ill see how it works ands will probably get a 15' for playing games.

A500 not connecting to TV through HDMI
Hey all,
Seeing as you are discussing cables and HDMI here, figured this may be the best spot for my question.
I recently bought an A500 tab 32GB and have been trying to connect it to my Panasonic 127cm Plasma TV through HDMI.
Ordered a HDMI to HDMI mini cable (type A to C) and tried to connect the tablet to the TV, but no luck.
The Tab screen shows HDMI connected but the TV screen remains black and there is no mirroring at all.
Any advise? Could it be the cable, tab or TV?
Unfortunately don’t have other devices with HDMI that I could test
Thanks for the help
Use HDMIwin

Take it into the local electronics store and test it on a TV there. Act like you're interested in the TV and you wanted to test it out with your tablet.

I should be getting my 15 foot cable from Monoprice this week and will report back too.
Honeycomb needs an overscan adjuster. Even the DROID X2 has one.

You've completely missed my point. I have ordered plenty from here. I am asking is there something I missed? Or should I simply return it for exchange? Video was fine but no audio... gonna try my other TV.

I'm sensing a little sarcasm, or at least I hope you have more faith in me than that.
Edit: Now thats weird, audio worked fine on my other TV.
The TV not working has HDMI coming from my Denon receiverinto HDMI 1, but I use my receiver and surround sound for the audio... Just thought of something though, because the TV volume doesn't work for cable TV unless the receiver is off...
I got this cable from Amazon.com, 15 feet, and it has worked fine on two different tv's.
Eh, starting to wonder if the speakers on my TV are bad. I've used my receiver speakers exclusively for a long time and never use the TV speakers. When the receiver is off, the audio is suppose to bypass the receiver and route the the TV speakers... I get nothing now. And no audio on a completely separate HDMI input on the same TV. The fact I got audio on my second TV is enough fto convince me the cable is fine. Time to talk to Best Buy about my main TV...
just for info:
i just checked the HDMI to VGA converter with my Iconia and it works perfect.
Manufacturer: Ligawo
Part no: HMVM01501
Where did you buy it? The only result when Googling "ligawo HMVM01501" is this thread lol.
Searched Google and first entry was:

What exact terms did you search? Also, what do you do about your audio with that cable?

The only thing you can do with audio in that situation to hear it externally is to plug speakers into your headphone port
Sorry, I meant what are you doing, as I am aware of what would need to be done I am using straight HDMI to my TV anyways and it doesn't apply, but figured I'd ask to get answers to help out others who hit up the thread.
since this tab takes HDMI micro or HDMI "D" are you guys using the Acer dock?
Looks like they'd have to be. I got a 15 foot micro HDMI to full HDMI cable for dirt cheap at monoprice.com

I know I'm not the only person to try this, but I did manage to succeed in getting it working. I have just a 20 inch lcd monitor, with a native res of 1600x900. Its a fairly decent screen, but it doesn't have HDMI, just DVI and VGA. Plugging in an HDMI to DVI adapter got me a picture, in 640x480. And I still didn't have a way to get sound out of it. Now I like to make things complicated, so I did some research into modifying the screens EDID table. That never really panned out. But while I was toying with all that I ordered an HDMI to HDMI+sound adapter.
When it arrived it was the complete solution to my problem. The adapter doesn't list it on its features, but it does have EDID masking. It caused the Ouya to output 1080p. With that, there was nothing on screen. But I had already installed xposed and the mod collection, So in 640x480 I set 720p from the collection and rebooted. Its working perfectly now, and I've got a cheap game and media station at the foot of my bed.
I bought the HDMI sound adapter from here. It doesn't have any latency I've noticed and doesn't require any power. Probably the cheapest solution to this problem too, I pinched quite a few pennies on this. I came out of this spending maybe $90, as I bought the Ouya from the promo sale that had it at $60.
