Applied the latest Rogers ROM...what a bad move...
Now my HTC Magic got stuck in RUU screen showing the following:
SAPPHIRE UNKNOWN 32A SHIP S-OFF H
HBOOT-1.76.0010 (SAPP50000)
CPLD-11
RADIO-6.35.10.18

I tried many ways to get rid of this screen but didn't work.
My phone original has the rogers 2.17.631.2 build, and I did a bad move to upgrade to Android 1.5.=( The RUU process flashed my HBOOT and RADIO, but as soon as it starts the "system" steps, the screen shows unzipping for over an hour and eventually failed. Now my phone will start up with the above screen only!! i can't get myphone startup in recovery mode or fastboot mode.
I tried re-run the RUU porgram on my PC and the tool still shows i have the old anroid build. Hence i know that i now have NEW HBOOT and RADIO but still the old Android build.
Is there a way for me to get out of this RUU screen? Any help is appreciated.
Is the security off (S-OFF) allows me to downgrade the SPL? If so, how can i do that given i can only boot my HTC Magic in this screen only.
One more side note, fastboot can detect the phone.
Urgently need help! Appreciated.
If you have constant security S-OFF, it accepts all ROMs and HBoot and RUU. Probably you have engineering Magic (not Hboot, the whole device)
1. Try this...
If fastboot can detect phone, so try flash Amon_RA Hero recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=561124
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
(recovery.img or other filename must be in folder with fastboot.exe)
Then start into recovery (Home + Power) and flash CursorSense
If you need original ROM (without root), so search forum for it
(it has been posted already). Just get rom1.zip (system.img, userdata.img and more...) and flash it (Saying again: official doesn't contain root)

but the fastboot method requires engineering SPL, but my phone was upgraded to the perfected SPL. Shall I try the RA_Hero or RA_Sapphire ?

Yes, common fastboot required to be engineering. But you have S-OFF now, so no checks.
use RA_Hero, cause you have radio 6.35.X.X

Tried flashing the recovery.img (RA_Hero) but failed.
i typed fastboot flash recovery recovery.img [ renamed the file to recovery.img] but got the error...
sending 'recovery' <3362 KB>... OKAY
writing 'recovery'... FAILED <remote: image type not support>
Just to clarify more, the screen only shows "RUU USB" not "FASTBOOT" although fastboot can see my device... could that be the reason why it failed?
According to your 2nd suggestion, where can i find other RUU and how do i know which is the proper one?

the rogers ROM is not working right. Too many crashes and so on .. so try this one
RUU_Sapphire_HTC_Europe_3.05.401.3_release_signed_NoDriver.exe
You can download it from HTC main site ...
Also, you have to keep in mind that you can RUU as many as you want. So do the procedure again and keep us posted if it's working. If not send me a PM and i'll resolve it step by step.

I do have the same problem with my RUU flash with the new Rogers RUU. Stuck at 81% when device starts updating at step[4] "system". Phone will show "unzipping" for over an hour and eventually failed with error code [155].
I tried the RUU_Sapphire_HTC_Europe_3.05.401.3_release_signed_ NoDriver.exe but still the same problem. Can anyone help here?
Did more investigation, and seems like both RUU ROMs i tried might not match the CID, hence the system ROM updating failed.
Now the question is, i am stuck in RUU and cannot use adb to check my CID now. How can i manually update the system ROM given i am in RUU mode only?
How can i manually update the HBOOT and RADIO if i am stuck in RUU screen? If the RUU program can automate the process in one click, is there program to allow me to update each individually? Note that i cannot get into fastboot mode.

I had a 32B G2,it was brikked at the first time when I ruu flash the rom(Sense official). G2 couldn't received any RUU rom.it would stop at 22%.
Today,when I ruu flash the rom（HTC_Europe_3.04.401.2）,I also found it stop at 81%.
SPL is updated to 1.76.0008 from 1.76.0007.
It seems much better than before. But it still could not accept the cmd "adb shell"
Hoping somebody could help us.
I used the following RUU after upgrading to sense RUU stopped at 81%

You will end up with an ENG SPL that allows you to flash what ever you want then.
I manually updated Radio and SPL and now using CursorSense ROM.
Obviously replace the "hxxp" with "http". Hope it helps at least some of you like it did for me.

I tried but already got stuck in the first step of unzipping system.img. Looks like this RUU will upgrade system first before HBOOT and RADIO, hence i am still stuck with Perfected SPL.
Given that my phone has security off (SOFF), is there way to downgrade my HBOOT?
I had the same problem when HK SenseUI appeared and I managed to pass the RUU screen with a gold-card. You will find tutorials in this forum.

Were you upgraded to the latest perfected SPL when the same problem happens? I had my goldcard configured properly, but everytime i run RUU, the process hang at 81%, which is the time when unzipping system.img happens.
I understanding the latest SPL is still yet hard to crack, but will my phone being S=OFF, can have some ways to get the system check bypassed?

What exactly do you have? You posted in one place - that you have 32B
But on picture you have 32A

I make a goldcard for installing _HTC Magic_RUU_Sapphire_SMC_Voda_WWE_3.03.990.6_release_signed_NoDriver.exe (with this update can enter in fastboot and vol down + power) but stops when loading system.img

Hello all,
I'm having some serious issues with my Magic.
I used theunlockr.com's goldcard method of rooting the magic, and i managed to root the phone successfully, however i reverted back to unrooted as i could not boot any custom ROM's (particularity Cyanogen's 5.0.7), they would just hang at the vodafone's splash screen. So i have reverted back to an unrooted state using the .nbh I got from these boards, Amon_RA's [How-To] Root and un-root the T-Mobile myTouch 3G (sorry i am unable to post the link due to forum restrictions)
Now i am running 1.5 unrooted, but my problems get worse here.
Current details:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32B SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT-1.33.0009 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-3.22.20.17
I can use fastboot and boot to a custom recovery image, but i can only boot to 32A recoveries (Amon_RA's), have tried several versions, still can only boot to the 32A's.
while in the recovery menu, i am unable to apply any Zip files, they either come back as corrupted or verification failure (not signed). I have tried many different files many different times.
I am unable to flash the recovery partition using the fastboot command with the SDK, i am using windows XP.
Can anyone offer any help? I have spent countless hours searching for a reason why this would be happening.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You did wrong way to unroot. Flashed 32A RUU to your 32B Magic
and got 3.22.20.17 radio (32A, but works on 32B too with restrictions)
To get your Magic fully 32B - you must flash official RUU for 32B Magics ... or ...

I tried to apply the smappimg using my normal micro SD, i got "Signature Incorrect".
I tried to apply the smappimg using my Goldcard, I got "Main Version Older".
I even re-downloaded the file and i also re-created my Goldcard, using the guide from theunlokr.com.
Any other ideas?

I am trying to load the recovery file "recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G".
After using Universal Androot successfully I assume the phone is now rooted (is there a way to make sure?).
I then tried to apply the img using the androidsdk via cmd, but the fastboot command fails with "FAILED (remote: not allow)".
The method using a terminal on the phone fails, too:
"permission denied".
Next thing I tried was to downgrade from 1.6 to 1.5 in order to be able to use flashrec. I used an nbh that seems to be just right for my phone
(vf-sappimg-crc24-1.33.0007).
After renaming it and fastbooting the phone, the update(downgrade) installs... but after it's done I get the error message:
Update failed!
Main Version is older.
So my question is: Would a Goldcard make a downgrade possible or am I overlooking something?
(I read somewhere that a goldcard is not neccessary for the 1.33.0007).

No need for eng spl...
You can flash it from recovery no problem... :0)
But flashing the spl is actual the easiest step... just flash the zip file from recovery and follow the screen-instructions... 15 sec and you got eng spl...
But only do it if you need it!

Hello. I'm trying to flash a RUU for my htc magic 32a because i flashed a custom recovery months ago and it screwed my phone. I can't access to recovery or to android anymore. I flashed Sappimg.zip through hboot but it gave me wrong custom id, update fail. When i rebooted the phone to the bootloader, i found out that my phone has now the stock radio and hboot versions, which was a pain in the ass. Now i can't flash a new recovery nor a custom rom. The only solution is to flash a RUU i guess.
I looked at the Official htc sapphire RUU thread and downloaded "2.20.151.4 Vodafone Greece test-signed" one. But i believe my phone is unbranded. I didn't buy it myself, i got it from a friend. So, i flashed that RUU and got signature fail error. I just want someone to point me out which RUU i need to flash.

You have a 32A device but running a 32B radio... Not good!
Run these commands:

How come? It's under HTC Sapphire/Magic 32A.

Ok. I'll try downloading it right away.
I tried flashing that same RUU, but i got an error during the system update, it gave me "fail-pu". All the other updates were successful though. At the end, it gave me an update fail error.
EDIT: It seems now my Hboot is 1.76.0009 and my Radio is 6.35.08.29. The thing i noticed when i was going to get the .zip file is that, there were two zip files, one was rom.zip and the other rom1.zip. The rom.zip contained the following files: "boot_special.img", "hboot_7200A_1.76.0009_091208.nb0" and "radio.img". Whereas, the rom1.zip contained: "boot.img", "recovery.img" , "splash1_vodacom.nb0", "system.img", "userdata.img". First i flashed the rom.zip, and i got an error when i updating the boot. Next and flashed the rom1.zip and aas ia said earlier, i got an error at the system update.
Thank you. Basically, i downloaded the RUU again and flashed the rom1.zip and everything went perfect. Now i have a working phone again. I just need to root it again.

My friend updated this phone with errors. Now I can run it only in RUU mode. PC found a phone and I can connect by fastboot and turn-off phone (by fastboot oem powerdown), but I can't load any recovery..
I tried official RUU installer, but there say that I must download other version.
I tried boot few recovery, but nothing happend when booting .
I tried also downgrade radio or SPL, but I need working device.
There is any solution to bring to life a phone or this is brick?
When you are running RUU, it will create log in c:\ruu_log

Ok. According your log info...
- Your phone has label 3.54.631.3 ROM (but probably does not have system image with this rom)
- You tried to install ROM that has lower version than 3.54.631.3 (remote: 43 main version check fail)
- It is main problem if you have not canadian rogers phone
1. You need create goldcard (search on xda for manual)
2. With goldcard you can successfully install 3.54.631.3 RUU and your phone will work.
3. After that if you want custom you can get root (use SuperOneClick), flash custom recovery (AmonRa 1.6.2 patched by cursordroid or HTC Hero recovery), then flash hboot 1.76.2007 and custom ROM via recovery...
