Question about Alarm - XPERIA X10 General

On a previous Nokia phone N95 there was a feature where if you turned your phone off the alarm would still function.
Does this feature exist on the X10.
I know about the discussion About if the phone is really turned off if the alarm still functions as it was thrashed out on a iphone forum. That is beside the point I just wish to know if the phone turns off will the alarm still work.
Tx in advance.

Perhaps he doesn't have one. If so, it might be one of the features he would prefer to be included before purchasing one?

Hermes On T-Mobile... Maybe Not?

I have heard on the grapevine that T-Mobile will not be stocking the Hermes, the reason for this is the high cost price, it will be similair to what the MDA Pro costs and for that reason will just not sell enough.
Can't guarantee this though as the same was said about the Nokia 8800 and Samsung D500 when they were originally released but a back track was soon made!
T-Mobile Germany gave it a name already as the Vario II, and there is a flyer on their website. T-Mobile UK makes its own decisions - let's just hope they see the Hermes as a solution to the current shortage of Wizards...
whats a hermes and what will it do for me?
ok how is it going to be better than the wizard? just wondering expect i'll break my wizard about the same time this new one becomes affordable.
PS: some device that can run the day to day relationship with my girlfriend would be pretty useful. or even a text message auto reply option, sense the mood from the incoming text and reply appriately.

You could just have it display the word "APPROVED" but it only gives them warm fuzzys when they see it on the cash register display after using your card.
Just seen pics of the hermes thing and well i'll stick with the wizard unless i plan to build a small outhouse then a few hermes would be needed.
PS: the early stages of most relationships surely could benefit from an sms auto reply app.
1. scan msg
2. count instances of 'love you' etc... deduct instances of 'i hate you' etc.
3. use the score to judge the mood
4. probably apologise for conflict in the middle east
5. send reply
be funny if it could learn and have access to ur phone book. you could wake up one morning and its decided that girlfriend 1 is too much hassle so its dumped her and propositioned someone else for you. brilliant!
might be worth saying at this point before this thread get any dafter.
best keep PocketGirlFriend v0.1 top secret, as if PocketBoyFriend ever got written then things would get daft!!!
i dont see why they would. they have the MDA same thing... right?

WInmo 6.5 really not that great

This is just a heads up to potential on the fence buyers of the HD2. I switched from Sprint... Had Palm pre. I've owned Winmo devices in the past.. Diamond and Vogue..those took patience and thought the screen size and capacitive touch of the HD2 would really make up for Winmo's annoyances. Not quite. The Hardware is a thing of beauty and like the reviews say HTC Sense is great but Winmo's ugly, annoying and unhelpful face comes through alot of the time.. at least as I use it. Winmo 7 non upgradable really wasn't an issue to me before but now I'm having a bit of buyers remorse.. it's a good thing the hardware should always be worth the $200 contract break.
Don't get me too wrong I feel ok about the phone.. it does what I want it to... but hand it to your average non tech'ish human and their initial intrigue and interest will 10 seconds later become "uh oh , what did I press?"
My problem with this phone is that it keeps locking up and freezing on me. And I haven't done any calling, texting. All I did was trying to transfer music over and the damn thing locks up all the time. My co-worker warned me about WinMo but I didn't believe him, now I do.

Is this your first Windows Mobile phone? Coming from the Pre you will have to change some habits when using the phone because it works completely differently. I know because I too had a Pre...
Windows Mobile is really for power users that know what they are doing. If you customize it to your needs you will see that it works very well. The out of the box experience could be much better though...HTC has done a great job hiding a lot of Windows Mobile's annoyances.
Having said all that, I love my HD2 and Windows Mobile! I believe that the OS is the best choice for people that know what they are doing.

I just had a look at that and have to disagree. I have my mp3 files (ALL mp3 - no derivation from that) in a folder structure on an external harddrive that is Music\Artist\Album\nn Song Title.mp3
I literally just copy the folder structure onto my storage card, but I never use ActiveSync for this. ALWAYS connect your phone as a USB drive. It's faster and more stable, and not really what ActiveSync is for.
Just a bit of advice

I don't think he meant that WinMo sucks just that it has issues with locks up and freezes. Yesterday when my cousin came over and I was trying to put music on the phone, after it was done, I wasn't able to let him play with the phone because it was so damn laggy, I was kinda embarrassed and told him I am still trying to set it up.

Finally got rid of my HD2! yay!

The Worst phone I have ever owned save yourself the trouble of buying one.
The pros - Camera, video, and video playback
The cons = Everything else
its hard to even justify it as a smart phone, maybe if I was not on a forced data plan I would think differently, if sold as a dumbphone. Just not enough apps to do anything with , and it takes about 60 tweaks to make it decent
I think the only thing saving it is the bing turn by turn released today, otherwise dont waste your time on this! Get a used android device, or the new sprint evo instead
Winmo 6.5 is dead, the market proves it.
And yes you can scour the net for apps but you wont find many that are any good, over all the phone sucks
Good for you. Good luck.
Thank you for your input on this matter.
Now, who are you?

Require Password to Shut Off Nexus 4....

It their anyway to force the phone to require a password in order to shut down the phone? This is a HUGE flaw that nobody seems to be focusing on. What's the point of having a security app on your smartphone if they can just shut it off and your done? Anybody feel the same way? It's like having a security system in your house and allowing anybody to simply shut it off without breaking a sweat. Are you okay with that? I messaged Lookout Mobile Security and Sent a Request which you can do so here once signing in https://www.lookout.com/help. Just click on Send a Request. Hopefully they can implement this vital feature in their security app. If theirs any smart people out their who can make this feature on their own I applaud you. Your phone will let you know where its at even if its off using Lookout online, but without out the phone screaming (a feature within Lookout that makes your phone emit a really loud sound) it's like looking for a needle in a hay stack. Click on the link and let them know you want this feature. It just makes security apps on ANY phone totally useless without this feature.
What is a thief going to do with a phone they can never turn on? Sure you can't use the security features with it off but they have to turn it back on eventually.

What kind of logic is that? You swear a person will wait years for the thieve to turn it back on? REALLY?

its written in its hardware to shutdown after holding the power button for 10 seconds, you protect your information with encryption, locks so the thief won't bother, that's all, not much you can do once they install clockworkmod, no offense
if the mobile provider does block the imei, you can just use it in another country.
google needs a database to centralize all licensed androids/imei with gmail account to lock it of its stolen or un-authorized and report it.
Well it could be used for other purposes too.
For me for instance. I drove home yesterday from work while suddenly I felt a small vibration from my pocket. Looked and it was from the phone turning off... I must have sat wrong. I'd love a "lock" to not have this happen again.
HOWEVER... there are apps known for freezing your screen (i.e. TouchControl atm).
If you get a freeze you're .... ****ed! so not sure if I'd like that, but it would be a nice feature if you feel safe that you won't get freezes.
Password to turn off phone? It's useless lol.
Take out battery?
ADB reboot?
Anyways, no matter what they're gonna have to turn the phone back on. If not, why would they steal the phone?

I understand your issue but all you have to do to turn a phone off is long press power for around 10 seconds and it automatically shuts down. By that logic removable batteries and SD cards are incredibly dangerous as well. If a thief gets your phone and knows what they're doing, there's not much you can do to get your phone back. The reason most people have passwords on their phones is really just to stop friends messing around with things, since it's fairly unlikely someone will steal your phone if you look after it properly.

Most thieves DON"T know how to do this. Either way this shouldn't stop the feature from being their. Just because somebody can means we shouldn't?
lol this is comical.
The only thing they would have to do is let the phone die within a day by the battery running out. Then they could charge it with the phone off, and proceed to thievery as normal.
If they were to implement this, I can just see the 1st thread after this 'feature' is enabled

What kind of shoe box we talking about? Most thieves aren't smart enough to know these things. The first thing they will do after taking it is turning it off. If it requires a password how will that be possible? I know this solution will not end world hunger or war, but what it will do is provide a bigger window in finding your phone and that's all we need. Is time not relevant to you?
#1 I treat my phone like my wallet (since it is w/ Google Wallet) which means I don't pull it out and set it on a table at a restaurant/bar, I don't hand it to people I don't know who say "hey bro can I use your phone real quick", I don't set it down at a party/friends house/anywhere. It's always in my pocket. You'd have to beat me down to get it, so slim chance of that (good luck..)
#2 Everything I do is password protected (i.e. lockscreen, Google Wallet, Play Store purchases) and I can disable Wallet remotely and change my PW to my Google account remotely.. all my pics/music are in the cloud so there's nothing to lose/steal from my phone
#3 *IF* someone was lucky enough to get their hands on my phone somehow, the last thing I would worry about is if they were able to flash/reset it quickly because chances are the amount of time you're talking about would be ~6-8 hours at best on average unless you were at 100% charge when they stole it
#4 It would cause more problems than it would solve as phones tend to freeze here and there, I guarantee *YOU* would be the only one suffering any consequence of the implementation not some theoretical thief.

I want the notifcation LED to blink when screen is on!

Hello, new S7 Edge owner who came from a Priv (and a long line of BB's before that)
I've searched high and low the last 2 days for answer but can't find an easy one.
Is it possible to have the notification LED work while the screen is on?
I've come across another thread here on XD that suggests I can use Tasker to do it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/help/led-notification-aod-off-t3367365
Before I invest my time (and possibly money) into Tasker, is there a simpler way of doing this?
That's silly

Why is that silly? As a Bold user you should know and appreciate how useful it is to have the LED come on even when you are using the phone.
This actually annoys me so much that I might root my phone over this.
My knowledge of hardware/software is pretty low, so don't laugh when I ask this.
Is this a TouchWiz/Samsung driver thing or do you think that it's actually baked into the hardware/firmware of the S7 so that even if I root it, it still won't do what I want it to?

Rooting in itself will not activate the led to come on while the screen is on. I am almost certain that this is baked in and that the led permission cannot be changed.
