Does anyone know if the Galaxy S supports In Call Recording (ICR) using both the hanset mic/speaker, Bluetooth headset, and/or speakerphone?
This was supported on the original Omnia and several other Samsung phones; however, the only Android phone that I've heard of which supports this is the Hero on its original ROM.
Thanks.
They're is an app for that

IMHO, there's no app working for android 2.0 and later

As many of you know, it wasn't possible to record calls with the 2.0 and 2.1 android versions. Can someone test whether the feature is supported in the new firmware?
Thanks.

Test? How? Wouldn't you need a recorder app that was specifically coded to use the phone audio stream? If there was such an app and it didn't work for some reason in earlier versions, let me know and I'll be happy to give it a shot under Froyo, as that's functionality I'd like to have, too.

There are apps available in the store, for example "total recall". would be really grateful if u can check that one up, it'll be a decider for me about getting a n1.
Thanks

Total recall doesn't work on anything 2.0+ like Nexus One.
It's in the app description itself.
Looking for alternatives..

I got it to work with the ported android on my hd2...but there is no front facing camera so its a little pointless but still cool...

I can make a call now but I cant get the camera to work for the video part. I'm running Energy Sense.
How can video calling work on the HD2??
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Utilizing the camera. You would just have to turn your phone around. I have done it with the Vibrant and its just neat to have and to play around with.

Or hold the camera towards ur face, then the LCD is looking at a mirrow.
Too bad no one makes a USB camera for the HD2, like some I have seen. Then
the problem is solved.
BTW what phone model did you select to download the Fring.?
It was a cab file that I found and downloaded it. It didnt ask for the type of device. It looks like its for the android base though. I havent been able to get the camera fixed. I woukd like to get this working. If you know the correct file can you steer me in the right direction?
Hello guys,
Ive just installed Fring as I am hoping to be able to get the video phone working.
Has anyone had success?
Can to SGS users WITHOUT fring video call one another? Any one done that?

Network plan?
I assumed it was a DATA video call, ala skype or iphone's facetime, which are purely data transfers...
Surely the video call on SGS is not the (now completely out dated) traditional video phone call that was so unpopular years ago... so unpopular that mobile phone companies removed their front facing cameras?
Mark.
You'll use fring, but fring does not work on the .GS right now. They are working on it.

Hi
Yep, I see the fring guys are working on it

It would be good if skype did something directly for android... and then there is that alpha version of adobe I saw on engadget a month or so ago.
Mark.
Good question from the OP.
I also would like to know how and what I can do video calls to (without fring) .
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
i have used fring on sgs, to make video calls and it works with data plan or wifi. fring to fring users can make calls between each other , skype support has been taken out.

Skype with video support is coming out for Android in the fall. If all you want is audio you can find an APK by googling around.

I really hope so, I'd prefer to use Skype than Fring, contacts-wise and also I was very unimpressed by Fring connectivity in the past and even less so by their handling of their "bandwidth issue" with Skype.

Been cruising around the forums looking for any sign of attempt that some of the pro's out there are trying to bring call recording to gingerbread. Then i suddenly realised that there are a lot of us out there actually waiting for this option in order to upgrade.
So anyone interested in seeing call recording on gingerbread this is the place to attempt it.
I am now downloading gingerbread and planning on pushing the call recording files over to see if it could be as simple as that.
Anyone with more experience your input would greatly be appreciated.
UPDATE: ok phone wouldn't boot similar to BridX's situation.
Any Dev's care to give their input?
Hy, I'm waiting this option too. I also wait gingerbread lock animation.

2 way recording can be easily achieved without even a need to flash Darkyy's rom, since it is based on 2.2.1.
This thread is for GB, and checking to see if it works the same way as in 2.2.1. Obviously it looks like it doesn't.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Has anyone tried this on JVK? im planning on but i flashed my phone too many times this week i need a break to focus on exams
I'm also waiting to call recording in order to update to Gingerbread!
It will be available once the relevant rom (china GB, i believe) is out. Asking for it isn't going to make it come out any faster.

Hi,
I would like to start a donation pool towards a fully working Skype video calling.
I will be the first to donate.
I would like to see it on the ICS (Alpha2) or its off spring.
Good luck,
Developers : please post your interest here, and how you want to proceed
Users: please make your pledges here
thanks

Might be a tough bill to fill as there isnt even a video app available for WebOS. Maybe they just never got around to it, or the hardware just doesnt support it. Even though it was an advertised feature

That or its just more of HP's famous false advertising...you decide.
After searching a bit, looks like it was the same as it was with the Palm Pixi, an advertised feature that didnt exist at launch, but was later introduced in an OS update. I believe WebOS v3.04 gave support for Camera and Video Recording, Making Skype video calls possible. So it is certainty hardware capable. Id imagine as soon as any other ICS ROM gets a working camera, this one will be soon to follow.

I am not a big fan of bounty threads and will close this thread down if people start asking for any money to work on this.
However, if people would like to pledge money that they pledge to donate to a developer after the work is done...so be it.
Just don't start sending donations until you see the goal realized and send your donation directly to the developer. No middlemen or THREAD CLOSED.
OF COURSE XDA has nothing to do with these pledges, and will do nothing to ensure they paid...so user beware.

I've done video calls using my touchpad multiple times using the "Phone and Video Calls" application. You can add your Skype account on there as well.

I dont know what jhayton is talking about but you can certainly make video calls in webOS.
Im sure any progress towards using all of the touchpads capabilities on android are appreciated.
