Did FroYo repair the "no record calls" bug - Nexus One General

As many of you know, it wasn't possible to record calls with the 2.0 and 2.1 android versions. Can someone test whether the feature is supported in the new firmware?
Thanks.

Test? How? Wouldn't you need a recorder app that was specifically coded to use the phone audio stream? If there was such an app and it didn't work for some reason in earlier versions, let me know and I'll be happy to give it a shot under Froyo, as that's functionality I'd like to have, too.

There are apps available in the store, for example "total recall". would be really grateful if u can check that one up, it'll be a decider for me about getting a n1.
Thanks

Total recall doesn't work on anything 2.0+ like Nexus One.
It's in the app description itself.
Looking for alternatives..

Skype for Sprint HERO

Hey Everyone. This is my first time starting a new thread, but a recent release got me interested.
Yesterday, Skype released Skype Mobile for Android. Yee Haw, right?
Wrong. It's only for Verizon. My personal opinion, that's dumb.
I've got a Sprint HTC Hero, and I would *LOVE* to have Skype on it.
Is there anyone out there who's freaking awesome and is planning on developing a work-around for the Verizon-only bit?
If so, I beg you, PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED!
Thanks in advance!
I remember having an official Skype program on my phone shortly after I got it. It was chat only, though. Now I can't seem to find it anywhere. I'm guessing that they check which carrier you are on and block it to any carrier that doesn't want it used on their network. I'm guessing Sprint would lose out on their international plans if Skype Mobile with VOIP was allowed.

I can call any place the world from this Skype app on my phone to PC!!! It dials a local # and then connects to the user on computer just fine!
Hi I'm not as knowledgeable. How do you download the app to

phone and install it? Also, what are the chances that it will run on n1 on T-Mobile network? Thanks in advance.
You are the best @heroid007 !!
I have the software, but I think it is totally different from windows mobile. I think we are being charge locally when we make calls unlike winmo.

would changing your ROM/build allow you to use the Verizon version of skype to make call?
your saying they block apps based on phone carrier, is that determined by the pre-loaded ROM/ just a code that the market reads to determine the apps that are shown or is it a hardware thing?
i was reading that new build had access to all app.
sorry im still new to the ROM thing.

maybe is other solution for skype?
something odd that i've noticed is withthe 2.2 market skype doesn't even appear, but on a 2.1 rom it does.
Search Google for ( "index of" com.skype.android.lite.apk ) it works on other carrier phones and can run on WiFi (vzw dont). Would upload but not anywhere near home.

Anyone modding Skype 2.0 for desire?

Just though I would ask if anyone has modded the .apk file to allow us desire people to use video chat out of the back camera ?

Installed this and videocall button exists, but it's late here and cant try it.
I swear I once got the camera working on the previous version. I don't know. Might of been the iPhone instead.
I would love to have the video option as well. It's silly that just because of no front camera the Desire is not supported. There still could be use for the video function
I have google talk 2.3.4 installed and the video works there, but still would love proper Skype support also...

[Q] Skype Front Facing Camera Hack?

The new Skype (2) was released today and has support for 4 phones with front facing cameras. I was wondering if it's possible for the Netflix hack to be applied to Skype... in at least a similar fashion? I'm not sure how the netflix hack worked to begin with (APK hack or Build.prop... still a noob to android guts). I'm also wondering if it only works on 2.3 because of the new camera api's...
Anyone else curious/interested? I don't know how to hack it but I am just curious.
I am both, curious and interested...
Sadly, a simple mod on the APK or build.prop won't be enough. That's the reason Qik has a dedicated video app for motorola atrix. It's an API/driver issue.
In android development theres one, check it out :-D(before complaing, its test version guys)
Cool, that was fast! I didn't see it, must have come up right before I posted.
Edit: Can't find the topic, got a link?

not entirely correct, with Gingerbread (2.3.3+) Google included a standard FFC driver which Moto has stated is compatible with the Atrix and should be used for any further development on GB platforms. on froyo, all carriers had to figure out FFC drivers on their own, but for GB it's standard.

it's in the main Android Apps forum, an SGS user modified theirs to work on the SGS, but on the Atrix it force-closes on sign-in.

theoretically, yes. since all GB devices will be able to use a common FFC driver, it shouldn't be a problem. of course, nothing ever goes that smoothly or easily...
skype and all would be great, but id be more interested in getting the FFC to actually work... in the unofficial GB (or whatever u wanna call it) release the FFC doesnt work..
How about on the skype hack that just came out (look at android police) on 2.3.4

ATRIX 4G is capable of two-way call recording

Dear all,
I know there are already many threads asking about if Atrix 4G is capable of two-way call recording, and in short the answer is no due to some firmware issue.
Well, I just flashed the official firmware by Motorola for Atrix 4G model sold in China into my AT&T model, and two-way call recording turns out to be one of the functions by default.
This is not a cooked rom, though there are some cooked roms based on this official rom that also have the same function.
I just want to let you know that ATRIX 4G can do call recording beautifully, without any compromise, even for my AT&T model.
Please kindly not to start the legal debate (or even worse) again, as I just want to share this piece of information with you, and I fully respect your view on the moral and legal implications of call recording.
I missed Dark Force and CM7, but I just need call recording fuction so badly that I have to use this official, bloated room by Motorola. Hopefully one day we can find call recording function in those wonderful cooked roms.
Interesting. Where did you find this "official" firmware?
Edit: never mind, I found it. Thanks for the info!
Good find! It would be awesome to see this functionality in other ROMs.

The link I found is full of chinese, I'm not sure the link will be useful for you guys, but here it is anyway: ligux.com/t-61-1-1.html
But the equivalent instructions and download sites in English is found right here in XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15020775&postcount=2
Also the Fruit Cakes is the safer approach (search for hktw): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163009
I would suggest you go look at the XDA post.
I haven't flashed and tested it personally yet, so please don't take my word for it.
I'd love to see this in future ROM implementations...
I wonder what's the cook's POV on this issue though...

I'm not a legal expert to make a comment on this, so if any senior member is interested in porting this feature please let me know how can I help.
I registered XDA user account to post this finding because I thought it could be useful to some Atrix users.
I bought my Atrix in the U.S. but I live in Taiwan.
The Atrix sold in Taiwan has no voice recording capability either.
Yet the Samsung Galaxy S2 and many other phones sold here does have such feature by default.
So I assume it is sometimes a decision made by the manufacturer, at least in some countries other than the U.S.
NO in the usa it is totally illegal to record a phone conversatio without the express written concent of all partys involved thus creating a lyability for people who create such software and or implement it
however personally i think it would be usefull evidence against vindictive ex wifes

Thanks for your input, and hopefully it concludes the legal side discussion in this thread.
Once again I'm totally fine with how it is in the U.S., and I assume there are Atrix users like me who live outside the U.S. as well.
There's a few apps that work fine on my SGS and not my Atrix. One of them is ANY program that allows you to listen to music with a single (mono) Bluetooth earpiece. That for instance is not an issue on my regular SGS.
Besides call recording, (and bluetooth music) I often wonder if the phone is purposely locking it out, or just bad programming on the STOCK ROM itself?...

Run Apps in Windows

Hey guys,
I was wondering if there is any sort of way to have apps open in windows instead of opening on the entire screen. I for some reason remember seeing something like this a while back but I don't know if I'm just having created memories or if I actually saw it.
Thanks for any help
Yea there is some company that tried to market it to OEMs for gingerbread a while back I believe. I haven't seen much recently on this accept that the ipad has a hack for jail-broken devices that allows this feature, so considering the floating apps android already supports and androids superior multitasking it should be possible if some really awesome devs work it into a ROM of find an incredible mod for stock ROMSs. This has always interested me so hopefully we can find how possible it is and maybe someone could get it done.
Edit;
Found the article on this, not as old as I thought, but it is still on an older version of Android.

Yea, I have the overscreen browser and aircalc calculator, I had to sideload the browser from my transformer though as the nexus is unsupported. But I would still like to see a mod or ROM that allows this for all apps, much like this mod for the ipad.
