Windows saves .png as 32bit so make sure you save the .png as 24bit
I found this info here on XDA and on android modaco, where you posted the same question!

I know the Desire is 800x480 - I wanted to know whether to do it this size or as if it was across all 7 home screens (as I said on MoDaCo).
And why wouldn't I ask the same question on multiple forums? Means a greater chance of an answer

Hello M8, I loved the animation so much, i did make it )
I Installed it using Ubuntu....
1), put your device into recovery.
2) press Vol down + power button, then when the red triangel shows
# sudo ./recovery-linux
3), then issue command # sudo ./adb-linux push bootanimation.zip /data/local
4), Reboot and enjoy!.
Original creator of this nice animation is RR33, big thanks to him!
Like that, gonna give that a go!
It is cool...
My first MOD yay!!
Might've missed it, but it only goes through the animation once...Nexus One keeps going until boot. Take it this is correct?

Can anyone help find out whats going on?
Updated bootanimation.zip x3
Tried the bootanimation which run once and it's working great!
Thanks for the great work!!
I would prefer the animation to run only once. If it were to loop, I wonder how am I going to tell if the device is booting or on a boot loop.

I've been trying to achieve the loop on this animation for the whole afternoon and it somehow always manages to fail. Blimey!!
What would you guys prefer here because I only tried looping the part that shows the HTC logo and the quietly brilliant writing appearing below it. Somehow the loop map (part1) I put the loop in fails to activate. Maybe it's the desc.txt file that's written falsely?

Then we are in the same boat!!!
My understanding of it is ,
480 800 30 = 480x800 resolution, 30 fps.
p 1 0 part0 = every new line starts with p, then 1 = play count, 0 = pause number of microseconds, part0 = file location.
I have tried countless combos but still no clear winner yet sorry, If anyone manages to work it out, please share here Thanks

2) when it asks for you to restart, do not restart.
3) Run CeleCMD, and click the "..." button.

Clock on CHome CClock page does not display correctly shows as 7:28000
any way to fix this? Using win mo 6.1 as well.
Just Change the settings for your clock to 2400 hours instead of PM and AM.
what does this do?
can anyone tell me what this does? thanks a lot for the info
Love it, except for the signal and battery meters on top
Has anybody else noticed that, when in a screen other than the homescreen (I'm using the colored iconbar plugin from Rinku), the signal, battery, and message icons on the top bar appear as only white boxes? Also, the comm manager doesn't work right, none of the "buttons" glow and I can only choose the phone one by pressing the number 1. Pressing 2, 3, 4, etc don't appear to do anything...
Is there a way to fix this?
I REALLY want to keep the 96dpi running. It looks really nice, and improves my homescreen real estate.
Anyone figure out a way to fix this?
GREAT tweak, other than those minor bugs...
THanks for your work!!

DPI usually mean Dots per inch, which is another way to describe resolution. i'd say to check out the excalibur forum for the full story... i'm abotu to myself
EDIT:
pudgedaddy said:
...basically this works similarly to increasing your screen resolution on your PC.(minus the actual resolution changing) meaning it fits more stuff on your devices display since it shrinks down what is placed on your screen.

I agree. Other than the issues with the clock which was changed with military time everything is great for me. And if you dont like it then remove the cab and it will revert.
What is the Default DPI
Does anybody know what the default DPI is for the Shadow?
I dont get why when I Run CeleCMD all i see is boxes instead of actual words. Any one else having this problem?
I have the White Box Problem as well. They don't seem to be going away and My Buttons 1-9 are non-responsive as well and fix for this!
Default DPI for the shadow is 131
Found this lurking in my backup folder. I made it a long time ago for my phone and thought I might as well do my part and share it.
I have a psd laid out so its simple enough to change any of the colors if anyone is interested.

the animated one was actually locking up my phone cause im running a custom rom..so at one point it would just hang and needed a soft reset.
so what i did was, disabled the start up animation and used the still picture and it worked just fine! It actually cancelled out my wm6.1 welcome head which was an eye sore.
thanks once again!
I tried out an animated one and it works great on my custom ROM. It would be nice to have the text and HTC logo bigger.
240x320 QVGA
should i put both the animated and non animated on my device, how would i know which will work?

Ill have more this weekend, just been really busy with work.
I love startup Animation. I found a few around here on the forum and from some other forums as well.
Here are 2 of my favorites. Both of them are originally not my work, but I have cleaned up both the cabs and edited the HTC bootup one to suit the Rhodium specs along with some audio editing work.
1) HTC Bootup

}
2) Windows 7 Startup
I will be adding more Startup Animation here as and when I get more. Stay Tuned!
Notes
1) These can be uninstalled. So no fear!
2) Always make sure you uninstall an existing Startup Animation CAB before installing a new one. This is how it should go... a. uninstall the cab, b. reboot, c. install the new cab
3) The CABs have no registry entries because these entries are already present in your registry. However, just in case installing the CABs doesn't do anything for you, install the REG file attached.

Nice
Installing the first one.
Can't wait to see how it looks. Thanks for posting these man. I'll eagerly await more.
EDIT: Works great. But it goes from the first one, the Qualcomm to the Windows 7 one. Is it supposed to do that? If so, cool.
Well not exactly,
The way this works is...
First there is the animation which is about 13 seconds and then there is a static image which is displayed for a few seconds (also known as the carrier image).
The HTC bootup CAB, plays a computer's BIOS animation and then shows you a static image of the windows 7 logo which gives it the appearance of booting into Windows 7.
The other one (Windows 7 CAB) plays the full Windows 7 bootup animation just like on your desktop computer. You know, the 4 colored dots becoming the Windows logo.
Thanks a lot Buddy!
It looks fantastic!
I liked more the win7
Gracias!
Can you make up a U.S. CDMA version of the DOS Booter one?
I most certainly can. Give me a few days.
I love your POST animation.. Cool
Good job..
Gotcha
Okay. Thanks. The EnergyStar Boot screen looks cool. That's the one I'm using. It's pretty cool. Do you think you could make the boot one without the front facing camera item? I have a US version of the phone, so no front facing camera

I thought about that. Why have it say N/A? Instead, I thought I'll have it report something else that's actually present on our devices. Nothing negative about our Rhodiums
Suggestions?
This is what I have in mind...
For the CDMA version
1) change the radio info (2G and 3G)
2) Replace the CAM info with something else... possibly the 3.5mm stereo jack. It was present in the original animation that I got.
For the T-MO GSM version
1) Change the 3G freq. info
2) CAM to something else... possibly split the BT and WiFi adapters.
What about AT&T... does it have the front cam?
The HTC annimoation doesn't seem to work the way its supposed to on the 21864 Build, NOV8 release of NRGz Photon ROM. Any of you have that problem? Essentialy what happens is, when the HTC POST animation is playing, there is a moment somewhere around the 3rd to the 6th second into the animation, where the static image (Win7 Logo) shows up for a second and then disappears.

Funny... I know that and still typed it out wrong! Work seems to be getting to me.
Edited the post. How about splitting the WiFi and BT adapters? Battery seems like a good idea.
Splitting Bluetooth and WiFi would probably be the best bet. Best I can think of, at least.
Any chance to set the duration?
The welcome screen is displayed before the animation + sound finished.
Att has no front camera, no 3.5mm jack (as posted), why do they do this to us?
I like the wifi BT idea though, and yeah the N/A idea sucks it was the best I could think of at the time.
Oh, can I get just the files, I like the .cabs and appreciate the work, but all I am doing is changing welcomehead.gif and att warhawk startup.wav so I saved the pic, but need the sound.
Hi there. this is cool but i dont have any animation on my tmo tp2. nore any sound. am i not doing an install right or is this normal? and i was wondering if there is a way i can use my own chosen mp3 or .wav file for start sound? thank so much!!wait 2 secs to reload the image
it's wierd... but for some reason they dont seem to work correctly on all roms. I had no problem with these on the Oct.28 release of NRGz Photon rom. The HTC Post version doesnt work right with every release after the 28 of Oct (21xxx builds). Now i seem to be having problems with the Win7 startup as well.
I'm looking into this. Lets hope i can figure out the problem.

stupid question guys.....but how do i delete a cab? i went into the file explorer and deleted the file....but ive still got the start up animation there.....very confused! sorry..im totally new to all this!lol
I found this short animation at Vimeo.. its pretty cool. Would there be a way to somehow incorporate this into the phone? What resolution does it need to be and what format? I can probably convert it with Premiere Pro.
http://www.vimeo.com/14800845
That would be a great boot animation....Hilarious.
I looked around real quick and found this:
http://www.droid-life.com/2010/04/13/how-to-create-a-droid-custom-boot-animation/
that would make a sweet boot animation, or even live wallpaper.
Been playing around with this video from the link above.. uploaded as flash for now. Gotta figure out how to make those several .png files like the stock boot animation though.. Is there another format other than png's that will work with the boot animation?
I'm thinking this should be moved to another thread.
I would love to have that as a boot animation!!
Droid eating apple bootanimation
I fooled with it a bit, there are almost 400 frames in the video (far to many to use for a boot animation) so I slimmed it down to 100 frames and used jpegs instead of pngs. It still came out to about a 4meg file but that's not to bad.
It didn't come out to bad, here is a reduced size gif to show the end product animation. The animation below will pause for 5 seconds at the end and then replay, it does not loop on the phone. There is a small loop of the droid after the animation.

No I haven't, not exactly sure of the process in doing that. Just hoping someone else could work with what I came up with.

Nice work guys, wish I had the know how to finish it
Alright guys I had a little time today and this is what I got.
This is my first shot at creating a boot animation and I may try to clean it up a bit later, but I have no idea when I'll be able to that. So here is the link to the bootanimation.zip and the DROID sound file.
http://www.4shared.com/file/RnmPd-ZA/Andro_Eats_Apple_bootanimation.html
For Root Users: The easiest way to install is copy both the bootanimation.zip and android_audio.mp3 to your SD card. Then use Root Explorer to move the files from the SD card to /system/media/ You will need to change the permissions of the folder before pasting so click on R/W in the upper corner. So thats it just reboot your phone and the new boot animation should work. I have only tested this on my incredible and can't be held responsible if something doesn't work. As always just do a nandroid backup and you should be safe.
Nice work, but,,,,,,,;-)
What I would reeeeeeeally like to see is an android chewing up an Iphone and spitting out the pieces ;-) hehehehe
Great job ctinsley! How many frames did you end up with? Have you figured out how to incorporate the "droid" audio into it?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Are there any changes you want me to make? I think I can render a smoother video by using a sequence rather than flash.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I got about 204 frames from your animation and I took another 20 frames from the froyo incredible boot. I have it running at 18 frames per sec right now I was going move that up a little bit to see if I can get the animation to complete, since right now it cuts off (the xda developers word don't fully disappear) I think the frame rate might make it smoother anyway. The Droid sound is there in the video but I might adjust it a bit since it goes off right in the middle of the animation. Honestly I don't have any ideas for the animation itself I think its great but if you choose to change it ill try to package it up also for people.

A different one Foliomod1-1:

it would be better with a foliomod-wallpaper as dexter isn't the only person working on this mod anymore. and it would be nice to give the others a bit credit as well =) but a nice background non the less
Hi, I have a question. I have recently downloaded a 1024x700 wallpaper for my folio but when I try to apply it only lets me take a small piece of it. Which resolution should I take for it?
Thank you guys.

it would be better with a foliomod-wallpaper as dexter isn't the only person working on this mod anymore. and it would be nice to give the others a bit credit as well =) but a nice background non the less

I didn t search much more for a solution but in the basics settings I didn t find anything. All toshiba wallpaper seems to be like that.
Well, maybe is beacause if res. is larger and Android needs to crop the image you can select all image and when croped is being transformed to folio's resolution,
it's because of the wallpaper scrolling trough screens (so you need a wider wallpaper) and because toshiba can't do anything right (software wise).
the best solution, in my opinion. is to find/make a picture that's 1024*600. make a canvas around it in photoshop: like here.
save as a .png and put it into /toshiba/wallpaper/ using rootexplorer.
then (in launcherpro) disable wallpaper scrolling.
then you can select it from the toshiba gallery, and it won't be cropped.
someone should really make an app doing this automatically. i'm unfortunately no developer, so i have no idea.
So, as i understand; the file image needs to be croped (due to toshiba's fault?) and beacause of this image resoltion has to be larger.
But which resolution will work? (I mean, how much canvas do i have to add?!?!)
Thanks.

canvas should be 2048*1024, with anchor in top/middle. just like the example.
the cropping is an android thing, as android (officially) don't support screens larger than 800*480
this one is the one on my homescreen

I've tried to copy some wallpapers into the "System/toshiba/wallpaper/eu" folder but RootExplorer keep saying that the filesystem is read-only, although RootExplorer is granted SuperUser permission. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong...?
The system partition is mounted read-only by android.
Do you have an adb connection to your device?
If yes simply type adb remount to a console window to remount the system partition r/w

or just press the "mount r/w" button in the upper left corner of rootexplorer when you're in that folder.

adb shell
mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
--copy the wpp---
mount -o ro,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system

Hello !
I've also a lot of difficulty with wallpapers' size ... But I think I just understand how it do. I've just making a pattern for a 3 desktop home (see in attachment). I test on my folio and it's the good size normally.
I hope it can help somebody, by the way I prefer share it here
Edit : I forget to give you the resolution that I found, with ADW launcher ... A classical wallpaper is 2048*1024 (like original toshiba wallpapers), into wide mode, the resolution is 2048*600 and each desktop do 1024*600 (and central desktop is composed by the left and right desktop, like on the picture )
Edit 2 : @ kepler1982 --> I've just finished a tool which allow you to put your wallpaper directly into the good folder (/toshiba/wallpaper). It runs under Windows (it's a batch script) and it uses ADB. For the moment it's just in French but I will try to post it here tomorrow in English. It's a Ready-to-use tool
Hi again, what about this tool?
I hope I can add some apps and remove some others to foliomod in near future and I would like to add some wallpapers too.
Can you post some wallpapers and that tool plz?

Thanks! They are very nice!
Wallpaper size needs to be 2048x1024 because if you put the Folio in portrait position then vertical resolution is 1024...
