Yesterday I got a repeated problem when I try to install the Froyo. The phone keep give me error msg, File not exist, aborted.....
I figured that it was because I did everything in the phone (downloading, copy/paste, and renaming the file to update.zip). After several failures, i downloaded and renamed the file in a PC, and directly copied the file to the Sdcard root dir. Then it is updated smoothly. I don't know what happened with that phone downloaded file. It seems exactly the same as the one from PC. Maybe the phone downloaded one was attributed with some property that did not allow the bootloader to read it.
Hope this helps.

I have a G1, and I tried to get root. I downgraded to RC29, and then downloaded the recovery.img file and the Hard SPL, downloaded telnet and all that, then tried to flash the spl as update.zip to the phone using the recovery console (i think that's what it's called, i pressed home+power to get there). it keeps giving me an error message "E:No Signature (26 files) E:Verification failed". i tried to download another one, and it gave me the same message. i've been looking for a solution for six hours and nothing helped ;( anyone think they can help me?
Did you try editing the zip in any way? Did you extract it/etc? You need to take the downloaded zip, rename it update.zip, and put it on the sdcard. Do not change any files in it or extract it. Hell, don't even open it.

Doesn't sound like you're using the SPL update.zip. That updater only contains one file.
@gary13579 the only thing i did to the zip was rezip it, cos my mac automatically unarchives everything when i download it.
@jashu do you know anywhere i can get the SPL? i downloaded it from the post on this forum..

That would be the problem. You're going to have to find a way to download it without unarchiving it.
There's a "signature" added to all updates, which tells the phone whether it's a legitimate update or not. When you re-archive it, it loses that signature.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I have, well look at my sig...
Do i need the CRB43 ADP instead of US to update radio. I keep getting a "can't open e/sdcard/update.zip (bad) message.
It should update. Maybe it was a bad download. I would download it again and try it.
Well, I just flashed back to 1.51 CRB43 ADP. I am going to see if it works...Thanks for the input.
Downloaded it again...Extracted...renamed update.zip...still no go.
Same error as before " cant open update.zip....(bad)".
Hmmmmmm...any other suggestions.
(im now adp 1.51 FYI)
Download it again.
Do NOT extract anything.
Just rename the downloaded file to update.zip.
So, I got it to work....I used winrar to make my update.zip instead of the windows zip and BAM worked 100%..
Glad it worked for you, but extracting these .zip files is unnecessary.
All that is required is renaming them to update.zip.
If you extract then re-zip them, you risk screwing up your new zip if the directory structure isn't preserved. You're just adding an extra step to the whole process that doesn't accomplish anything.
Thanks for the reply..
I just updated the SPL and everything went well. Though, now after the flash its stuck on G1 Screen...uh oh
I doubt it's related, but who knows?
Remove your sdcard, put it in your computer, copy a fresh SPL update.zip, try that.
If that doesn't work, remove your sdcard, put it in your computer, put your build's update file on the card (remember, don't rezip the file ... just rename the downloaded file to update.zip), WIPE and reflash.
You don't have to reflash the spl, you just have to reflash your rom. The spl overwrites the rom, thats why you got to reflash it.
Trying to root via unrEVOked..."reflash.exe is not a valid Win32 application."
I seem to be the only one to ever have this problem. I followed the unrEVOked instructions - I installed HBOOT drivers and installed modified USB drivers. When I get to the point where I turn the phone back on, plug it in, and open "reflash.exe", the "reflash.exe" file won't open. I get the error message "reflash.exe is not a valid Win32 application." I've tried downloading the unrEVOked package again and again. I've tried extracting the files again and again. I've tried opening the file as an administrator. I also get an error message whenever I extract the files, but they seem to be successfully extracted anyway.

Corrupt download. Clear your cache (on the PC) and download again. The reason why you keep getting the same error even after downloads is because IE/FF is using the locally stored copy of the file instead of redownloading again.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "clear the PC cache", but I had CCleaner clean up a lot of stuff and then redownloaded the unrEVOked package. I extracted the files from the package, and again, it said that reflash.exe (and only reflash.exe) was corrupt, and again, I get the same error message when trying to open reflash.exe.
Enrevoked is an EXE, there is nothing to extract or remove?
Just start the program, it pushes the file to the phone, reboots it, phone finds image, roots itself basically and bobs your uncle, you have root.
It is fully automated, there is nothing to open or extract.
Problem solved. I downloaded the file to a different hard drive. I don't why, but files that I download via my browser frequently get corrupted.
Hi, guys. First of all, thanks for all of your hard work and time you put into all of these custom ROMs.
So, I rooted my HTC Tattoo, then flashed it with CyanogenMod 7 and I am very happy how ROM works. I was wondering how can I get back to stock (for warranty reasons) since I was stupid enough to not make a backup of Stock rom with ROM Manager.
First, I tried installing RUU exe file(RUU_Click_HTC_WWE_1.67.405.6_WWE_release_signed_NoDriver) from Winows 7 computer, but when I connect my phone to PC, i got error message 170 saying "USB Connection Error".
When that didn't work, I downloaded and put CLICIMG.zip (I belive thats rom.zip from RUU) on root of my SD card, then rebooted to HBoot, but i got error saying something like "No images found in CLICIMG". I also tried to rename this file to CLICKIMG.zip, CLICDIAG.zip, but that didn't work either.
Hope you can help me somehow.
Thanks.

Hope the CLICIMG.zip you have downloaded is not corrupt.
Best thing would be to copy the rom.zip form the temp folder,
Here is what you can do:
After you started RUU wait until you get the prompt to proceed or you get the usb error and don't close the application
Then you can get rom.zip file from following folder
"C:\Users\<your user name>\appdata\Local\Temp"
replace "your user name" with your account name in windows
copy the rom.zip and rename it to CLICIMG.zip
place it in root of SDCARD and proceed
Thanks for replay. I managed to resolve this, I will post little guide soon on this topic.
Hi there,
I have encountered a problem when i want to flash a custom rom.
I installed all the neccesary software, however when i want to instal the zip from sd card i keep getting an error that says that the zip is bad.
I have tried different roms and I have encountered the problem over and over again.
Can someone help me with this?!
Thanks,
Bojan
how are you moving the zip to the sd? because magldr usb transfers corrupt larger files.
also, it usually helps to write a brief step by step of what you have done so far. Don't just say 'i have downloaded all the software' and assume that everything you did so far is correct, because 9 out of 10 problems are user error, and very often its an assumption that causes the problem.
Also check your rom by double-clicking the zip file (no need to unzip unless you want to), a good download will not record errors upon opening the rom's zip files). There are instances that a download is bad and yes copy the rom through a card reader. :good:
