Google maps after froyo - Nexus One General

For me, Google maps street view seems to have stopped functioning properly.
The buttons that move forward or backwards along a street don't seem to be working.
The buttons are there, but do nothing.
I last used it yesterday and those buttons were working.
Anyone else having this issue, or just me?

i had the same problem as you ,
go to setting > applications > and delete the cache from the street view app
warning : street view is separated of google maps

I just tried Street View with Stock FRF91 and latest Google Maps update and it works like a charm. Nothing wrong here, so I don't know what the problem you two are having is.

google maps displayed at unlock

My wife and I both have a HD2, mine is running fine but on hers, occassionaly when she unlocks it (swipes padlock) google maps is displayed instead od Sense UI, even when it was previously not running. This does not happen all the time but is peeving
Mrs Markda2000 no end, I have searched the forum for something similar to no avail. I updated to the latest (compass enabled ) google maps, but this did not fix it. Any ideas?

Google maps - Rotation at any point?

Sorry guys, had a search but to no luck.
Does anyone know if Google maps can or is planning to release a maps version that rotates as can be seen on the iphone, a guy I work with shown me his new 3gs and the way the maps spin to your direction was mighty impressive. I figure with the hd2 having built in compass, then why cant we have that too.
Again apologies if this has been covered, even google searches were not bringing up a great deal.
Thanks, Rick.
Actually nobody knows. Ask on google mobile forums. Not that anyone will answer.
With the latest version of Google Maps (mine is 3.3.1) the blue circle that shows your position is now an arrow that works with the compass - but the map doesn't rotate.
Yeah I have noticed the arrow detects your direction, but the maps themselves rotating would be great. I shall have a mooch on the google forums.
Cheers.

Google Navigation - Checking navigation availability

FYI if anyone updated Google Maps you're probably having issues with your Google Navigation where it hangs at some "Checking Navigation Availability" screen.
Solution: Market -> Apps -> Long press Google Maps -> Uninstall Updates

This would be a good solution except that the latest Market update is broken too, and any attempt to access my apps or clicking any app results in a FC.

this is not a specific problem to galaxy s. I am having it on my desire and I took these steps, but it didnt work.
I was having the same problem after flashing Perception 10. All I did was clear the data in Google Maps and then I went to the Places app and nav'ed a location from there and it was successful there. So then I went back to navigation and it worked fine. :\
Google Navigation and TTS Service
I didn't want to start a new thread, but I wanted to post something that I noticed today.
I was playing with my Samsung Fascinate and used Titanium to (safely) freeze as many of the unused applications and services.
TTS service is Text-To-Speach, and, since I didn't find any warnings about it, I froze it. Soon after, I realized that the Google Navigation wasn't responding.
Long story short, after I unfroze TTS service, it worked again.
This is just for your information, in case that somebody gets into a similar situation. If this is a well known fact (that the noobie that I am didn't know about), I apologize. I only wanted to help.
all the best and thank you all for all the work
I still have the 'Update Maps' on my Market, but I didn't do it..
When I had Froyo 2.2 standard through Kies, I had no issues with my navigation.
After flashing Darky's v8.0 I'm also getting the "Checking Navigation Availability" screen. So none of the solutions above worked for me..
Anyone got an idea?
Thx.

tried the above solutions, still not working on my Galaxy Tab, still stuck on "Checking navigation availability".
Can anyone in Hong Kong confirm if Google navigation is active or not?
With the previous (stock) maps 4.5 navigation is notavailable in HK, but rumour seems that it should work with the new 5.0 maps update... anyone?
I have had this happen twice on my Vibrant. The first time the above suggestion to clear the data worked, but the second time it did not. I was however able to get around it by doing the following:
Close navigation, then open maps. In maps, go to menu > directions and enter any address (I used one from a contact), hit go, and once the directions are up, hit the navigation button in the upper right corner. That should start the navigation program normally (no "checking navigation availability" BS). Once the navigation starts successfully, you can exit and from then on it should start normally from the dedicated Nav icon.
Hope this helps at least one person.

Worked for me!
There must be some incompatibility between versions of Maps in the data coding memory!
Galaxy S ; Darkyy's ROM 8.0;No lag fix yet.
Goto manage apps and clear cache and data. See post http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=2444687 of yuzaman!

Navigation and Google Maps no longer working. Please help :(

For the past 2 or 3 days, my navigation has not been working at all. It will not load anything. Google Maps is giving me the same issue whenever I do a search. Any address I type in, whether it's my current location or another starting point gives me no results.
I've attached screenshots of what's happening. My brother also has an S4 and is having the same exact problem. Does this have to do with the UI update?

Ok question.... did you guys sideload the new maps or did you do it the legit way and wait for Google Play to tell you that you have an update for Maps??

(Q) Location in google maps is greyed out

Hello. Well I noticed my location in google maps is greyed out but still is able to track where I am
Whys is this happening since before it was working perfectly. My GPS works fine with all other apps but this has been a recent issue with google maps only. I wouldnt really care but every time I tried to set a route with the starting point as my location I get the unable to reach servers try again later and have to set the starting or end point manually for it to work.
I have marshmallow 6.0,1 installed and the latest version of google maps dated for the time I am posting this
any help with this issue?
Mine works just as expected. Have you tried wiping data on the app, clear cache, force stop and then restart phone. Also check all location settings not just in settings menu but in Google settings as well. And make sure permissions for the app are granted for location.
I just updated to the latest android 6 version and the problem is solved
