My question is, if i do this backup, does the ext backup mean that those are where my apps are stored? If so, how do i restore just the ext without the nand?
Edit: sorry, didn't notice this was in the general section, can someone move it to Q&A for me? Thanks
yes the ext3 partition is the place where apps2sd puts your apps, but i don't know if you can recover only that part.

I don't have any partitions and I'm not even sure that would be a reason to not let me backup. I can run Nandroid backup fine but I can't run Nandroid backup +ext.....Can Someone please help!
Thanks

tweet me @robotnoize1 if possible...thanks!
I've had this problem before when I rename the nandroid file.
I usually power off, go back into recovery, and it works.
Not restore but backup.

You have no partitions so backup + ext does not apply to you. That is the default error when the script doesn't detect an extX partition to backup.
okay.
Exactly, an ext partition is for the apps to sd technique which you are not using, so there is no need for an ext backup, a normal nandroid is just fine
And my apps messages etc. will all be backed up?
well it's time to try it now I guesss!
Thanks for the help guys very much appreciated!
I do believe you messages will be, however your apps will not! but a simple visit to the android market and then to your download tab will bring up your list again Otherwise just create an ext partition and do a nandroid+ext backup and that will save your apps.
Correct me please if im wrong, but hasnt the RA recovery been having issues with ext backups on cyangen?

You are wrong.
Nandroid does backup the whole phone, everything under "/". By everything I do mean everything on the phone storage.
also, make sure it is fully charged before trying to restore.
Going to 2.2 roms how to keep titanium/astro backups?
As 2.2 roms apparantly dont support ext partitions, and think we need to format SD card to get apps2sd to work, what titanium/astro files would we need to be copied to PC?
Can you please, please, please post this kind of threads in Q&A ?

Yes they would need to be moved to the pc,
Best to do a nandroid back up then just copy the files from sd card to pc,
But as shokkapic said please keep questions to the Q&A section of the forums,
This section is only for rom issues and your question is more of a generic question.

Steven
For Titanium Backup there is folder on your SD Card called Titanium Backup... You just have to copy this folder on your computer and you have a back up ok Titanium Backup
thanks
sorry only posted it here as none of the intros to any of 2.2 roms mention SD ext/apps2sd or backups.
be nice if they did as lack of sd ext is bit of a change from past..
Hi all,
i wrote here cause i think it's not a general question.
I use CM 6.1 as my daily rom and I erased my EXT partition in favor of the original froyo app2sd method.
Now I have a problem. The recovery ( amon 1.7 ) can backup the ext partition. How can i backup the app2sd folder created by froyo on the FAT partition of the sd? And what's happen if I change the rom without removing the android_secure folder and its data?
I want to try the new GB roms but i want a working Froyo backup with all my apps...
How can i do?
Thanks!
No one can help me?
i have Nexus HD2 CM9 on my phone and i have only 151 MB available memory. Is there a way i could increase the internal memory ?
And y dont i have "Preferred Storage" option on the applications settings ?
Backup the contents of your SD, then create an EXT partition on the SD card, then use one of the many a2sd, app2sd, d2s (there are many variants) to make the system believe the ext partition is internal memory.
Don't say "can you help me?",,, there are loads of threads dealing with this,,, you may even find your rom supports this without you needing to do anything except create the ext.

Hi!
Its right, there are several threads talking about changing partition sizes.
i suggest using this tool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090783
If you want to keep you data partition as clean as possible the first app you should install is Link2SD and set it up to link installed files automatically.
@op the partitions that the above linked post talks about is not the same as the ext partition I mentioned. If you do use the nand toolkit at all, be aware you will need to reinstall your OS.
Guys,
Sorry for this noob question, I have flashed Tytung's NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.4-CM9-HWA V2.7 Rom to my HD2 and need to back it up but I have all my apps linked to an ext2 partition on my SD card using Link2sd, I plan to use ClockworkMod Recovery for the backup, the question is will I need to unlink all the apps before making the backup or will the SD card need to be backed up as well. I have done a search on the forum but can't seem to find any reference to my question.

No need to do anything, just perform a CWM backup and everything will work as normal. The linked apps are fine.
