So I just updated to 2.1.1 Fresh Rom and the latest radio. I'm at about -100db. Yesterday after I installed the latest radio and flashed the SprintUpdate2.zip rom, I had about -80db, that's quite a difference. I haven't been able to get back up to a better signal no matter what I do.
Software versions:
Firmware 2.1-fresh
Baseband 2.42.01.04.27
Kernal 2.6.29-bc0d2cff
software 2.27.651.5
PRI 1.68_003
PRL 60664
Any ideas on what I can do to improve my signal? I'm getting a lot of dropped calls. I've got my MSL and even went so far as to do a factory reset without success.
Thanks!
You should either go back to the radio version you had or try another one. Each radio version will have various results for different people depending on your location. Try some different versions from here until you find the one that works the best for you: http://geekfor.me/category/radio/
So I've tried all the different radios:
-88-102db 2.42.01.04.27
-89-96db 1.04.01.09.21
-96-100db 2.32.40.11.09 - Verizon
-84-98db 2.41.04.02.02 - Eris
-84-91db 2.41.05.02.03
-88-96db 2.42.00.03.10
Overall, there wasn't a substantial difference in any of them except maybe the Verizon one was the poorest.
How do I update the PRI in order to check that? After the PRI I suppose my next step would be to try different ROM versions to see if they have any affect.

I recently updated my phone radio to 3.12.90 from the stock radio version (the actual version I cannot recall) and now my WiFi doesn't work.
Seriously... why do I always have such horrid luck when it comes to flashing ANYTHING on this phone?
What should the stock US G1 with the CRC build show under firmware version, baseband version, kernel version and build?

LOL, no one probably knows because most on this forum are r00ted....
The CRC build should be CRC1, I know that much and the firmware version should be 1.5, I will have to look into the others.
I am rooted too..........but I need to know. LOL
it should read the .19.26 radio as well i believe, i am not sure on any of the other stuff though cause i keep updating daily to new roms. why do you need to know what it should say?? as long as it is unrooted or has never been rooted and shows 1.5 then the rest will come up as it is supposed to, on a non-rooted phone there is no way to change the radio without the entire build being changed or anything else.
I am having some phone issues need to return and want to make sure it is current when I return it!
Model Number -T-Mobile G1
Firmware Version -1.5
Baseband Version- 62.50S.20.17H_2.22.19.26I
Kernel Version- 2.6.27-00393-g6607056 [email protected] #1
Build Number- CRC1
HOPE THATS WORKS FOR YOU =)
hi all,
I wanted to confirm a few things...
I am rooted and running DC 2.08 with a2sd
in settings > about phone > system updates
what can I update?? There are 4 choices to update. I dont want to create issues on my phone.
Can I update these?
1. Firmware update .. yes or no?
2. Update Profile... i think i can update this.
3. Update PRL... I know i can update this
4. HTC software update... i am guessing NO on this.
Next, i am still on the stock Radio for Hero/cdma/sprint/usa/texas
baseband version: 1.04.01.09.21
PRI version: 1.70_003
Kernel version: 2.6.29-d30020a8
Should I update my radio??? i have been very very hesitant to do this because of past issues with CDMA/Radio. Currently i really dont have any issues. Just low signals. I want to see if it can improve my signal and data connections and battery life.
thanks

You can update all 4. HTC will tell you there's no updates available. I'm assuming that's an app that will be useful at a future date. Updating profile/prl is no big deal. Update firmware will upgrade your ROM if firmware exists. I'd avoid that one. I used it on my wife's hero for the 1.56 update, but the 2.1 updates will be OTW, not OTA anyhow.
Updating a radio has risks, but I've done it. There are several out there, and flipz is the man when it comes to that. Here is a how-to and he also has links to about four different radios, including the original in case you want to go back:
http://geekfor.me/faq/flash-radio/
I installed the leaked 2.2 update (without the updated radio) and my GPS isn't working. It seems that it just can't get a fix on my location.
Does anyone know if this is a common problem with a fix? Or do u think it is because I did not install the radio update?
-- related to the radio, when it first leaked people were hesitant to install it because the official radio could possibly be different. It seems that a lot more people are installing it since the leaked 2.2, is the previous concerns thrown out of the window? Or is there still a chance that the official radio update will be better/different?
In many countless posts about upgrading to the Leaked Froyo 2.2 build, They say upgrade the radio or many features like the camera etc will be messed up and force close.
Sure upgrading your radio will fix these problems, but I don't think you will get pushed the offical OTA either way...but we shall see.
yea thats what i assumed was the problem, but i wanted to check if anyone had any ideas.
but with regards to the OTA, once its released wont it be rooted and available to be flashed (with new radio) just like we're installing the leak? my worry is, will the radio be different?
I have a Koodo Nexus S I9020a. On 2.3.2, Bootloader KL1, Radio KB2, Build GRH78C. My problem is I have no service. In "about phone" it says baseband unknow. What do I have to do? Or am I screwed?
You're not screwed, mate. I had the same problem yesterday. You need to flash a new radio.

Find a radio version that works on your model and try it. If it doesn't work, try another one. I had to flash two version to find a working one, but I'm all set now. Don't worry.
