I've recently found that my micro usb cable comes out really easily and stops the phone being charged if it's at all knocked. As it is it only appears to go in about half way. Anyone else had this problem?
I would seriously talk to your doctor about that. It doesn't sound good.

Try a different micro usb cable (a good quality one as some. Cheapo ones can be a loose fit) , with any luck its the cable thats knackered not your phone.

Is it worth contacting T-mobile? I dont even know if it's still within warantee (i doubt it, ive had it for about 18 months now)
Im going to cry :'(
Great well apparantly T-Mobile say that it's voided the warantee! lol wtf... :'(

Is there a way i can copy all my contacts from my phone to my SD card? (are they stored in a certain directory/file within the Windows DIR?)
Obviously i cant sync via USB, and id rather not try by WiFi/USB as this is going to drain the battery - i need every drop of power!
Very grateful for any (quick!) replies!
Thanks!
You can buy a battery charger in ebay and sync through BT.

you should have tried this first since there is no need to worry on your PIM data when battery is drained while waiting for the battery charger....
but i guess since you have the money... congrats!
I charged up my new G1 phone for a good hour after I got it. It won't turn on nor did I see any LED light indicator that it is charging.
Anyone else have the same issue or am I just the "lucky" guy?

Not being a smarta*$ but you are holding the end key down to turn on right?
It could be the adapter is bad, try a USB cable to ur comp to check. If there is still no charging light, I'd exchange it.

All I can say is.... wow.
Back to the issue... any miniUSB charger should do... when I first got mine the battery had enough charge to run non-stop for 3hrs so I think your battery or phone is bad but do not fear... there is a reason T-Mobile has won all those customer service awards
ok ok ok - i meant SIM CARD.
went back to the t-mobile store, returned it, they said this was the second one that they saw with this issue. turns out it's not a battery issue, it's an issue with the phone.
i got a new one and it works fine so i'm happy.
good luck to everyone on theirs.

... that T-Mobile no longer wins because rob strickland sucks!! </rant>
Good to hear you got it replaced.
My big bulky phone with the big bulky extended battery dropped to the floor as I got up from my chair, not realising that the usb cord had decided to entangle me. Next thing I know, my precious hd2 is lying on the floor, screen faced down, and the usb cord "ripped".
Everything seemed to be working fine, but when I tried plugging it into my dock, it wouldn't charge, so I tried holding it at angles - it worked, but whenever i let go, it would stop charging.
Does anyone know how to fix this without having to take the whole thing apart?
Sorry friend but you will have to take the phone apart to fix this problem. Might even have to replacecthe mainbosrd as the USB port is attachedcto the mainboard and can not be replaced seperately.

As a temporary solution you could buy a wall charger and an extra battery off ebay for a couple of bucks, changing and charging batteries on the go works for me!

ty, but I'm worried that it'll get worse in the long term (long being anything over a couple of days), ie. completely stop working, and data transfer? I'd have to use wireless adb to do transferring.

I looked at the warranty terms and conditions, and it says that anything that has to do with the usb port area will not be considered as being part of the warranty, and I don't have the receipt because I got it 2nd hand. :'(
it could be fixed, but the port must be resoldered to the motherboard. In case some circuit tracks were broken in the incident, they will have to be remade, a good service center could handle it.
Most of them aren't too fond of using real electronic measurements and algorithms in order to track corresponding usb port pins to various points on the motherboard but it's not impossible. If my hd2 would have been damaged in this way i won't hesitate to crack it open and get my hands dirty
If I wanted to, how much do you think I'd be able to sell it for? Thinking of selling it, and mybe getting a used tmous, if I can afford it.
I've managed to find some tmous on sale, so, what do you guys reckon I could sell mine for?
When I broke my first LEO512 by thinking I could repair it, I took the individual components (Case, chassis, motherboard) out and sold them on ebay. I got about £119 in total for it all
You could always sell it for full price and let the buyer find out themselves what's wrong with it.

I'm just too scared that I'll mess it up and just make it even worse, thinking of selling it, getting what I can for it, and getting another second hand.
I have this problem my micro usb port has completely broke, and the circuit lines on the mother board are screwed up, HTC will not touch it
gone the route of a wall charger for now came with another battery for £8 delivered so im happy i can still use my phone, while looking on Evilbay for a new hd2

Finally had the courage to open it, and as you said, the connections are more or less broken off, and I've got shaky hands (without nerves) and can't handle soldering it, so I'm thinking of patching it up with some blue tack

1. Hard to say. 50/50
2. Not if the phone is truly fried.
I was a tech for Verizon before I worked for Best Buy and your phone should be fine. I would see this all the time (especially on LG phones) and when you put in a new battery, the phone would work just fine. I can't promise you the same thing, but your battery is probably just shot.
Thanks guys, i'll have a battery tonight and i guess i'll see than...
I just retired my 3000 mAh battery because it was bloated, and yes I was using SBC kernels also. Im back on the OEM battery and the phone works fine.
Hi XDA,
OP5 has recently started having this issue. Was wondering if any of you have had or fixed it.
When plugging in my USB cord, the phone behaves as if it is being rapidly plugged in and out, like 2-4x per second. As a result, I cannot get to the phone via adb or fastboot. The phone also seems to have the issue regardless of kernel installed. However, I have not tried with an older OOS version.
Any ideas?
That seems more like a hardware issue.

This is what I am thinking. Its weird b.c it can be sporadic.
Trying to get an advance replacement from OP b.c I cant go w.o a phone for weeks while this one is diagnosed/repaired. Anyone have luck getting an adv replacement from them?
Does your phone charge normally or do you see odd behavior there as well?
^^ it jumps on/off charge rapidly... complete w vibrating.
I managed to use a toothpick to scrape the top/bottom of the usb port contacts... seems to have improved, however, I am wary since sometimes it stops happening for a few hours/days.
The phone actually does charge, the biggest issue is annoyance of the constant vibrating/screen light up & the complete lack of ability to adb or transfer files via usb when it happens.

You might want to try cleaning the port using a can of condensed air--but you need to be careful to use very short bursts at an angle, not straight in and also not to spray any condensation into the port. It sounds like your port is either dirty or loose. I've never heard of an Android USB port getting dirty enough to affect functioning when the phone is so new but if the toothpick helped maybe that's the problem. I am wary of the USB port on this phone. It doesn't feel very solid to me compared to previous phoned I've owned. The headphone port isn't good either. It takes very little movement for a headphone plug to pop out.

Condensed air is a good idea.
Yes I am worried the solder has started coming loose on the port. Although, if that were the case, pressure would presumably cause the issue to go away, which it does not.
I am hoping it might have been a tiny piece of metal or something that got in there and was causing issues. So far so good this morning when plugging the phone in. Still working the replacement route with OP, but at least it seems to be holding for now.
Ill try to keep this thread updated with results.
Report Back.
The direction I insert my USB C cable seems to have issues with one direction vs the other.... seems to make me think something is screwed up with teh contatcs within the phone.

That's possible but I think trying to clean the port with condensed air is still worth a try. I don't like the way the USB connection feels when a cord is inserted or removed from the OP5 so it wouldn't surprise me if a contact did go wonky. Keep us updated. This is a problem other owners may eventually encounter as well.

Yep, tried after that post with condensed air too... gave it a spray 3x for about 1-2 secs each time. Still only working one direction with the USB-C.
I am confident its a hardware issue at this point. Im waiting to hear back from OnePlus on approval for an advance replacement. Phone is not even 2 months old

I have a backup phone so that wouldn't be a disaster for me but I can understand how it could be a huge inconvenience for many people. It's too bad they don't contract out with one of the phone repair chains. That would make things much easier for owners.
