Hi everyone new here. I am having some issues with getting my GPS to work properly.
I have noticed that if I use my phone without a sim inside then the GPS locks on pretty quick.
However if I put my T-Mobile sim insid and try getting a lock on the GPS it does not work, it keeps saying locating GPS in digital compass or seeking satellites in google maps. I have tried updating GPS satelite using quick GPS too but that didn't help.
So basically the GPS works when there is no sim inside the phone but doesn't when there is a sim (T-Mobile sim) inside the phone.
Does anyone know what could be the problem and how I can get it to work with the sim inside the phone?
Phone details:
My phone is running on the generic 1.66.405.2, ROM from the HTC website. I also HSPL2ed it as it was on the Tmobile rom. However the phone is still locked to Tmobile UK.
PS. I also downgraded the ROM to version 1.48 stock but still had the same issue with the GPS.
Anyone have any insight as to what I am missing here.
Any help appreciated.

Hi, My company as moved from O2 to Vodafone and I now have a 3G SIM card and have unlocked my XDAlli. how ever as most will know it's very hard to get a bluetooth headset working with the XDA and now I am having major phone lock ups to the point I currently carry a Nokia as a phone and my XDA as a PDA. Is there a work around to get the 3G SIM working and to stop it crashing all the time???
The current set up is
ROM 1.11.00 WWE
Radio 1.04.00
Protocol 1337.42
I run this as non O2 but it still loads some O2 junk eg the MIDlet Manager, O2 Music Player.
I run TomTom 5.1 as I don't like the 5.21 version as it reduces your POI. but the unit will just lock up as you drive down the road as it searches for the next phone cell. If I turn the phone off tomtom runs great.
A lot of questions and I hope that you all have some of the answers.
Thanks and keep up the great work.

Try this file, it has all the O2 ****e removed and some people claim it works better with Tomtom, can't test it myself as I still have no SD card to put the maps on.
It also has improved and enhanced BT profiles which may or may not help.
About the 3G sim I don't know if it's down to the phone not being compatible or wether it's just the unstable O2 Active software etc.
Try it, what have you to lose?
Don't forget to backup contacts first, it's amazing the amount of people who forget.
Thanks for that I have loaded and re-loaded TomTom 5.21 and with my orange pay as you go sim all seams to be working will as have just brought my little one to a party. And no lock ups on the way with the phone on I might even look at changing back to the Vodafone sim card in a day or two once I know all is good.
I will now upgrade the two other XDAlli's we have at work on Monday and see if they have the same great inprovment.
Rom Update
The latest O2 rom "171" from the myxda site seems to be stable and certainly works well for me with both Bluetooth headset and GPS/TomTom as well as working better in the BURY car kit. I have no problems with Vodafone on the 2i.
I love my XDA II. What a great bit of kit. I use it mainly for the use of TomTom in my car but would love to be able to use the voda SIM card I have (xda is unlocked) in order to browse the net and make calls if I have to, etc.
The problem is that When a sim card is inserted, I get all manner of problems with TomTom. Either I'll get "No maps found" or "Your device is not compatible with this version" or whilst driving along, the roads will disappear altogether.
Ive spent about three nights searching through posts and cannot find a similar problem. Can somebody please set me straight as to what's happening? Can I not use a SIM card in my XDA? (seems a bit poor if thats the case) or is it a question of needing to upgrade something in order for everything to work properly??
I should add that without the SIM inserted, everything works brilliantly.
Thanks in advance

WM 2003
Rom version 1.7200WWE
Radio Version 1.17.00
Was given a SPV M700 with WM6 (Rom version 2.0.8.1), GPS and WiFi working great but not the phone - cannot get a connection and I have tried different working Sim cards! Do I reflash with a new WM6 rom (which is recommended?) or just with a Radio Rom (current version 1.46.00.11) . Oh, I have checked the IMEI and that is not blocked. I don't mind having a go at reflashing as I also have a workiing HTC P3600. Never done this work so any help appreciated.
M700 not working
I have flashed the "phone" with a new radio rom but still getting the message that it cannot register to any of my selected networks. Next step, I guess, is to try a completely new rom. Any one got any ideas why the "phone" is not registering? **Update** Have tried two different 6.1 roms this morning and still can't get the phone to register with any networks????
Replying to myself, I know.. Latest situation is that latest Radio rom and decent WM 6.1 rom installed. I have inserted a Virgin Sim Card from another working phone and it shows a UMTS T-Mobile UK connection and even the 3G icon. However, when I try to dial out, it immediatly drops the line and if I try calling the phone I get the message that "calls are not currebtly being connected to ths number". ****Any clues****
is the virgin sim new have you used it before ie is it active?
and the phone is not set to flight mode silly i know but my girl put my phone in flight mode and it took me a few hours trying to find out why i was not able to make a call but i only had the phone a few days and did nt knw it had a flight mode.
if its not some thing like that then not sure what else to look at sorry cant be more help
Did the phone ever work? You mention that you got it, did it work for that person?
what provider did he use?
Is it locked?
did you try to cid unlock it?
Some weeks ago I bought my wife a Wildfire from Ebay. It seems to work fine and picks up a great signal on every network except Vodafone. I tried the HTC helpline and took it to a Vodafone store but neither could help.
Now I've bought another for myself and, would you believe it, the exact same problem with this one.
If I take out the Vodafone sim and put it into an HTC Magic it immediately picks up a strong signal. As soon as I put the sim back into either of the Wildfires it gets either nothing or a very limited signal.
I've tried taking the phones out and about and occasionally get a weak signal but more often than not I get nothing.
Can anyone help.
I should possibly have added that both these phones were originally locked to one network, one to Tmobile and the other I believe was to 3, and have been unlocked using a code.
chance you oprator maybe? or update firmware
Is it the death grip perhaps? Which Apple claims other devices have aswell...?
I don't think it's anything to do with the grip because I've tried it so many times in different places and positions. I find it very strange that it's only the Vodafone signal. Every other network gets a strong signal.
MY Vodafone signal isn't good either, but then again it wasn't great with my Touch Pro 2.

try the new 1.37 firmware
I've tried updating the firmware but it tells me that the phone is up to date.
It currently has Version 2.1 update 1 and the software number is 1.25.110.1
I'm no expert so if anyone can tell me how to make it do an update I'd be grateful.
