Hi, I know I F** up so Im sending my G1 to tmo today but I just want to share my problem with yall so that I wont F** up in the future.
I am super dumb so spare the shotouts please..
I have a G1 that does the following:
Power button = stays booting with Tmo image for ever....
Camera+power = Flashscreen but when I try to flash image it shows not allow...with red numbers 0007002 I think..
Home + Power = 3 options --> 1. Reboot (works) 2. Update (won`t work it says cache/recovery/command not found) 5,215,715 etc files not known. 3. Wipe (works as far as I know).
Also combination Home + back button = back to fabric installation works says press send to go further. But when it restarts does nothing my phone stays loading the tmo image till battery is empty.
The story: I tried to update a zip for hero from youtube and after that nothing worked anymore.
(I did not follow all the steps- bcuz I am stupid!)
What kind of mule am I??????? A big one!
What have I done wrong and is there any point in sending the device to tmo or should I trow it in the trashcan?
Peace and thanks for the laughs

What was the update you were trying to flash and what were the steps you took prior to that?
Hi Supremeteam
I took all the files from youtube link
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dxB_qvM2KU&feature=related
VIDEO NAME: Hero Rom on G1---Jachero 2.3.6-----There is a difference between Theme and Rom.
I DID NOT FOLLOW ALL STEPS!
I think it went dead after I updated the radio or spl. I read somewhere on xda that you must radio first before spl. Maybe that is the problem that I have. BUt I am not sure as I was flashing all day long just to get a hero theme. So I dont know all the steps I did (stupid again)
Thanx
Download THIS reformat sd card to FAT32 using your computer and sdcard reader. put the file on the sdcard. boot using camera+power.

I did this a copple of times but it says: not allow ... (and then the red numbers above somthing like 0072008 etc.)
I also tried RC7 but still same error.
I tried to make a goldcard, but I won`t flash, same error.
I dont want to spil anyone`s time so I dont think we can repair the G1 but what I want with this thread is to get the cause of this all.
Is it because I did not follow all the steps?????
Bcuz then I hope every dumbass like me reads this thread before they crush their G1 also.
I knew there was a chance of F**ing up so I took a risk and I`m not crying but I just want tips for the future and to prevent more people of doing such a dumb thing.
Thanx guys
Well if you can get into recovery and bootloader your not bricked. Is your phone rooted? What have you done to it so far? This can prolly be fixed if you can provide us the info we need.

Ok, 2 days ago was the first time I changed anything from Tmo to custom.
My first modification was: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfskzfjOMgc
How To Root Android in 1 Click
This worked like a charm and was perfect.
After that I installed
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=538762
[THEME] HE-AERO v1.6 - 4.0.4/4.1.11.1*Now with Stericson Lockscreen*[9/20]
I had a black panel above my screen and was very happy. Because that is all I wanted.
Then I got greedy and wanted the rom from POST 1.
And then I got all the errors from Post 1.
So really, that is all I can think of I did.

Im also at work, and my G1 is in the car. But I dont know if it has enough power bcuz Im going to drop it at the store after work.
But I will try to open the flash screen and note down the specs.
*** Did you format your sd card in 3 partitions? --- That doesn`t ring a bell.
I formated FAT32 but I never heared of 3 partitions, that is new to me.

You need to have the new radio and spl for hero to fit so if you didn't do that then that could be part of your problem. You card should be in 3 partitions (fat32, ext2/3, and linux-swap). There are several different ways to partition your card. You can do it in Ubuntu (tut in my sig), or you can do it in parted, and couple other ways.

I don`t know I just go to the store that I bought it from and I will send it for reparation. They will send it to tmo.
If it can`t be repaired I will get it back and then I will try it myself on sundays when I have nothing to do.
Why?

Just want to make sure you don't say what you were doing to it. And they won't send it to T-Mobile they would send it to HTC for repair. But to be completely honest with you, I wouldn't do that. Your phone does not need to be sent off. As soon as you have the phone in front of you and you have time to mess with it, it can be fixed. As long as you can get into bootloader and recovery your good. Its your phone and you can do what you want with it, but it should be an easy fix. Let us walk you thru it first before going.

Ok I'm gonna have you start from the begining so we are on the same page. First thing I want you to do is download this http://www.megaupload.com/?d=EMY1HIVU that is RC29. Also is your card already partitioned to fat32?
I ve read that those replacement new vibrants with hardware keys disabled wont get in to download mode once you are stuck on that computer and the phone icon screen. There is no way to get out of it am i right?
anyone?....
I replaced my phone because of that and I couldn't get it back to download mode.

I guess you just answered your own question.
Really, though, this question has been answered a hundred times on this very forum. Maybe people are tired of new threads popping up constantly asking other people to take time to do research for people that obviously can't be bothered to do it for themselves. Search first, then ask if you can't find an answer...preferably in a relevant existing thread instead of creating 10 new ones. The other users of this forum aren't here to be your free research monkeys.
...and again, insulting people isn't going to make them want to help you. If you want people to be friendly and considerate you need to give that back...it's a 2-way street. Nobody here is being paid.
*prepares to be flamed by the OP...again*
If you have root then you can use adb to get into download mode by typing "reboot download mode", if you don't have root then you can't use adb.

are you retarded???
you obviously share the same sickness as the OP "cantgoogleshitaphobia"
you can too use adb without root, how do you think people locked out of hardware recovery are even getting rooted in the first place? (and dont say one click root cause if you knew anything then youd also know that program uses adb as well)
the only thing you have to do to get adb to work is turn on usb debugging and have good drivers installed.
to the OP just cause you ask a question dont mean crap, you dont come in demanding a response to a question that has been answered time and time again in this very forum. I usually find posts like these and still help out with a link if its already on my subscribe list but your just an ass for the way youve gone about it, sorry not everyone works within your mighty time frame

If your phone is on the phone != computer screen and you can't enter download mode via the volume keys - you're bricked. You can't fix it unless you can enter download mode, and some versions of the phone you can't enter download or recovery modes via any keypresses. Since you're on the phone != computer screen, you also can't connect to the phone with ADB - so you're boned like a few other people here.
See this other thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=764360
And this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=771247
And next time, be patient and don't act like a **** when people don't reply. Not everyone knows your particular situation or can give you a solution on a silver platter.
The irony in this is that the junior member has better forum manners than the senior member. Just thought i would point that out. lol

ok thanks. i was just frustrated and nervous but tmobile is sending me another one. this phone was on vibrant rom and rooted if they find out is there going to be a issue? i am thinking that only way to get back is flashing stock odin again and once they do that it wont be rooted again. so i should be good. what do you think.
Yes should flash the original rom cuz if Tmo find out they are going to make u paid the original price of the phone not the discount or insurance price either. Reason I know cuz I know several people that work with Tmo corporate store not affiliate stores.

IF you had got the point you would have done your research there and then instead of asking another question.
how do you put the myt4G in to recovery mode?
Wow not to be rude but did you try the search button......hold down the power button and the volume down button at the same time while the phone is off. The select recovery
Sent from my icy cold glacier freezing every phone in its path
i did and i tried search by looking up hbooting myt4g recovery mode couldn't find nothing i even googled it and found this method your giving me but for some reason when i hold down home and power then let go of power button it fastboots..
but now i realized its the vol button i was looking at the myt3G recovery...thank you.

You have to have fastboot unselected before it will work. I'm looking into rooting my wife's mt4g, and that took me forever to figure out.
I have a vibrant, so I'm new around these parts. Still doing my research before taking the plunge.

Please use the term quick boot when referring to the reboot option that does not fully restart the phone.
Use 'fastboot' to refer to the low level utility / protocol that allows image (ROM,etc) flashing via USB

No problem (clicky the thanks button ). I was actually leaning toward this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834225. I'm still trying to determine the difference between it and the one you linked. The main purpose will not be really to flash any roms (she likes the stock), but to resolve some minor issues she has w/ her device. For example, her market fc's every time it updates - it's getting old to have to uninstall updates before she can even access the market. So I'm wanting to root so I can use TB to freeze the market updater.

Aha...see this is the stuff I need to learn - I simply used that term b/c it's what was in the reboot option. So it sounds like "fastboot" is the same as Downloading mode on my vibrant, correct? In other words, roms can be flashed via either clockwork or a usb connection to a computer while the device is in fastboot...?
I need to find a tutorial that explains the basics for the mt4g. It's a pretty different animal than my vibrant. I'm creating my own flashable mods for my vibrant, yet I pick up my wife's mt4g and I'm back to square one. Fruustratting!
If you already flashed it, Power Off > Hold Vol Down + Power until booted > Vol Down to recovery and select

I think its worse now The S-on is on now and its not off theres no more hope right?

Place on the root of your sd card, boot into bootloader mode and it will do its thing. When its done, your phone should be stock, and you can root and start over.

Hello All,
I have run into a problem with my Heroc not wanting to boot. Some background:
ROM: CM7
Kernal: Jaybob's recent Kernal
Mods: Firerats
All was fine and dandy until yesterday, when I decided to reboot the phone (with a full battery charge). The phone shutoff and when restarted was stuck at the HTC screen. I've tried several times to get into recovery but it hangs at the HTC Screen.
I can enter Fastboot/Hboot. I did some digging and tried to unroot by using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=988741
Method 1, loading the imaging on the sd root and loading. Everything loaded fine but when I reboot it still hangs at the HTC screen. I have not tried to RUU being that I am on a Mac and don't have access to a PC at the moment. So RUU will be done later tonight hopefully, but I don't expect different results.
It seems like I have some messed up memory and its not allowing me to boot. Does anyone know of a fix? I'm not desperate because its time for an upgrade. I just wanted to hold off on using it until January when Sprint holds their press conference, assuming its an Android device. I'd like to see what I could get versus the phones on the market now.
Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance

You definitely need to do an RUU. No way around it. know it sucks starting fresh again but it'll solve all these problems you have. If your s-off you can also do the RUU from Hboot but it's better to do it from PC as I have learned. Good luck man.
thanks a lot! om going to give it a try later tonight when i have access to a pc. Im not so much worried about starting fresh than I am losing the phone and using my upgrade now... I have a curve laying around and started to thing about using that for a while until I see something I like.
i will report back tonight or tomorrow when i am up and running again.
I had the same problem awhile back and it took me forever to get it fixed but I finally got it fixed. Search the forum for " stuck at HTC screen and look for the threads I started for as possible fix. I will try to find it and post the link here.

My last post describes how I finally fixed my Hero, but you should read the whole thread.

Thanks. I will give it a look.
I read through the thread and it looks like you passed the black htc screen and got to the white one. I can't get passed the black and adb doesn't pick up the phone at this point. I'm still waiting to try the RUU and see if HTC sync picks up the device.
Very resourceful thread and I'll be sure to give all the suggestions a try before giving up.
HTC sync won't pick up the device and I don't think any other option will work since I don't have ADB access. I'm just gonna bite the bullet and look into a replacement.
Ok to verify your phone does boot at least to the bootloader? If so I have a doffeemr approach for you to take

I used a flashable RUU based off Flipz source and still no luck. I will give your RUU a try later tonight... Thanks
No luck. The phone freezes at the HTC screen and fails to go any further. :-(

i had same kinda deal from a bad radio flash
if you still have fastboot do
"fastboot erase system -w"
"fastboot oem boot heroc.hboot-1.46.2000.zip"
you may need to rename the file to HBOOT.
if that dose not work unzip the file take the hboot img and place on sdcard and place where your fastboot files are like in android/platform-tools.
this made a deference for me.
then try fastboot flash img hboot.img
this is what i went through here

good luck if i can help let me know.
Thanks for the help oostah. I haven't been able to get ADB to recognize the device. When I get home I'll try it again and remove the hboot as suggested and give that a try.
Now that ICS is in beta for the Heroc my phone decides to crap out on me and I can't enjoy the hard work put in by the developers. Nonetheless, I am much appreciative of all the support put into the Heroc and have learned a lot from this community
I'll report back tonight with my results.

you are welcome i have been there before.
your phone may not recognize ADB but it may still take fastboot commands. that was one thing that drove me crazy is that i could fastboot but not adb. let us all know how it goes.
I did "fastboot-mac devices" and got my device to show up, so it registered. however, when I go to erase system I get an error, "remote: not allowed". The same occurred when trying to flash the .zip and img files separately as suggested . At one point the devices started vibrating like crazy and shut off, the led started to blink green. I did get it back into Fastboot, but now it won't turn on.
Thanks for the help though It was already replaced and the new phone should be here tomorrow. I'm just going to miss the Hero since it was my first Android device and I learned a lot in this forum.
Thanks!

do you have a nan back up from a sd card any place like on your pc if so look for your clockworkmod folder look for backups and you should see your backups open one of them you will see
boot
system
data
recovery
sd-ext
cache
they will be img files you can place them on your sd card and fastboot them back to the phone
"fastboot flash img boot.img"
"fastboot flash img system.img"
and so on
or
"fastboot boot img boot.img"
"fastboot boot img system.img"
and so on
or you can let it RIP
good to know. I'll give that a try if I can get it booted. I'm thinking its dead and needs a charge to get back into fastboot. I'd love to get it back up and running as a learning experience more than anything. I wont have time until tomorrow or Thursday . I will report back when I give it a try.
