the weird thing is at the top it says general even though i know i was just in themes. Makes me wonder if the rumor about the search button breaking is true.

Yes it was a fat finger typo.... and this thing should of been somewhere else. Mods handled it. and post # 4 wasn't there at the time. Besides that is relatively small amount of post compared to other listings like Android 2.1 release dates .lol
On a side note sorry for the discomfort.give a man a break why dont you .lol

Basically, $450 unsubsidized, $199 w/ two yr agreement, you will pay $10 extra data fee (b/c they think you will use more data "data rich experience" and it will cost $29 to use the mobile hotspot tethering feature. There will be an "upgrade" feature (from Qik?) that enables mobile to mobile video calls or mobile to desktop...similar to video skype (which verizon has locked down currently). HDMI out cable sold separately and there will be a car dock available as well as a tv docking station available at launch (dock and automatically sends video to your hi-def tv). Sprint is also rumored to be partnering with a video service to enable movie rentals over the air (similar to t-mobiles blockbuster app or Dell which is partnering with amazon videos).
I can't wait for the dev's to root this device!

Agreed, I can't wait to root it and do video calling as well as tethering without having to pay WAY TOO MUCH.
I totally understand trying to make a buck, to run a business, but I'm not about to pay $29 a month, for a feature, that we can probably wait and get for free. I cannot wait to get this phone!
I'm with you on the tethering issue. I was willing to pay for such a good feature if it was 10, maybe 15$ a month.. but asking 30$ is just too much.
when you say tethering is that the same as making the evo a wifi hotspot?
( I am assuming so)
I think that it stinks that they are trying to charge for that....I will wait for a workaround.....anyway...if someone is abusive with data usage, cant sprint just boot the user?
Question: do you think that by upgrading a phone via online method, that you will receive the phone sooner? or is it best to just go to the sprint store or best buy?

I was thinking the same thing about ordering the phone online @sprint. But BestBuy takes out the rebate so you don't have to pay for it. So looks like I'm going to BestBuy when this puppy comes out.

I see reports that FroYo is gonna have built-in USB tethering and Wifi Hotspot functionality. Does anyone know, if sprint for example doesn't specifically block the app, if they can determine you are using it. I am curious if they can figure out what you do on your phone or if they can just see the traffic.

I have also seen this information. With sprint offering this hotspot as an addon package it is very probable that they will probably disable it. Devs will fix that pretty quick. However I dont think if you are doing moderate surfing they will have any idea. Where it might become a problem is if you are downloading say 5-10gb worth of data a month after doing 500mb of data the previous month. They might get a little suspicious. Moral of the story.....just download 10gb every month from the get go, they will never know what hit them.

I can do this. I have been intentionally finding ways to ramp up my data usage on my iPhone. The best thing I have found is to stream classical music when I sleep on the iheartradio app. It has a nice non-verbal classical station that ensures I go to sleep and stay asleep without getting into a dead sleep I find hard to wake up from Any other ideas on ramping up my monthly usage

Here's the deal with Sprint Premiere AND 10 year Customers

I just spoke with someone in the Sprint Escalation management team because I am having an issue with my 10 year status. I have been with Sprint since 2000 BUT it only shows since 2005. They changed systems in 2005 and some of the legacy customers are losing their tenure unless you call up and request that they put in paperwork to check your status thru your SSN.
Here's the KICK IN THE NUTS. Even IF you are a 10 year plus customer you STILL have to subscribe to a plan of $169.99 (family plan) or $89 (single plan) to get the yearly upgrade. For me that's an extra $40 a month (as I am on the $129 family plan) or $480 a year JUST TO UPGRADE one of my lines per year. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Sprint can goto hell. This is how they reward loyalty even thou they are bleeding money and soon to be customers. I will be leaving Sprint even if I have to pay an ETF. What a bunch of jokers.

[Update] Sprint Premier Program is Not Going Away, Just Adding a New Tier Starting April 1st
Read on for Sprint’s official statement on the matter.
Sprint is updating the program for 2011 with two tiers of benefits, Sprint Premier Silver and Sprint Premier Gold, making sure that Sprint Premier Silver retains the benefits that were popular with the most customers. Effective 4/1/11:
Sprint Premier Gold customers must only meet ONE of the following three qualifications:
· Individual plans with a 3-month average MRC** of at least $89.99, or
· Shared plans with a 3-month average MRC** of at least $169.99 MRC, or
· Tenure of 10+ years with Sprint
Sprint Premier Silver customers must only meet ONE of the following two qualifications:
· Individual plans with a 3-month average MRC** of $69.99 – $89.98, or
· Shared plans with a 3-month average MRC** of $99.99 – $169.98
Once Sprint Premier Silver customers reach 10 years service with Sprint, they automatically are graduated to Sprint Premier Gold status regardless of the plan they are on.
** 3-month average MRC is based on voice plans only, not including add-on services, and is figured before any discounts are applied.
In addition to the change noted above, it’s important to highlight that both Sprint Premier Gold and Silver customers will continue to receive all the other perks: discounts on accessories, proactive plan checks and just because offers; device credits that are among the best in the industry; and exclusive extras like Premier Community, anniversary rewards and first to know.
Sprint Premier remains one of the best customer loyalty programs in the wireless industry. When compared to other national carriers, the Sprint Premier package of benefits far outranks any rewards program currently offered.
I read that "Must Only Meet One" BUT this is what I was told by a Sprint Escalation Management Member (they could be off their rocker and not know much as well). Knowing Sprint, I highly doubt their employees are informed correctly.

I just talked to Sprint. I have an Employee Referral (used to be sero, but had to upgrade for my Hero) Its called Everything Plus Family 1600. My total Plan is $150 before taxes, thats with insurance on 3 phones and the $10 4G fee.
So I am under the $169, but i have 11 years with sprint. The employee plans representative told me that I had Tier 3 Premier Member and when it switches I will be converted to Gold status.
Looks like all you need is ONE of the items listed as a prerequisite.
Edit: I did my math wrong my plan totals $160.98 before all fees and taxes.
Im in kind of the same boat. Ive been with sprint since 2001, so I SHOULD be a gold customer now. But a few months ago, when sprint refused to replace my faulty phone, I told them "Is this how you treat a customer of 10 years?" The guy told me I'm lying, because their system shows I started in 2005, which is a complete lie, because I know for a fact I started in 2001, right after I graduated high school. Basterds..

Been with them 11yrs so I'm good.
had to happen sooner or later. Pretty good deal, and I didn't think they'd have it that way forever. My question is they say before discounts does that also work for fees and taxes? My cousin wants to know as I believe he pays $81 with discount which his discount pays the taxes and fees in a sense with a slight discount of like $2-3. I believe he has his sights on a new phone "rumored". I still believe it's not going to go to Sprint.
11 years for me as well. Yes!
This sucks. I'm done with Sprint. That was.the only.reason why I was with them was for the early upgrades.

Yep, you're good. Gold star.
I've been with them for more then 10 years too, so it shouldn't be a problem. It's hard to see why they feel the need to constantly push a wedge between them and their customers though. I've been one of the few people I know to always like Sprint and never have any problems so I try and talk them up to people but it's hard to rationalize things like this and "random" $10 charges for smartphones now

Well I am contacting my lawyer. I signed up for one thing and if they change that, then I will be leaving sprint "the last network" and I will take them to court for breach of contract. I would be willing to bet if all of there family plan customers who spend 129.99 a month that don't qualify were to up and take this stance..... well they would probably amend it real quick.

I did read my contract once, I don't believe it says you will get XYZ upgrade options/etc. Just plan and pricing stuff.
I'll still be "Gold" base on time and monthly cost. I'm not sure if I would be upset or not otherwise, but I can understand the change.
as bad as it is that they are removing the biggest perk from the program, it was never placed in the contract for this exact reason. FYI for those interested family plans must be on everything data $169.99 and individual $89.99 or higher. Add a lines, add on do not count. *****

Doh, nevermind. I'm glad I at least have the 10 years... Looks like you need the 3000 minutes family plan to bump the MRC to 169.99.

as bad as it is that they are removing the biggest perk from the program, it was never placed in the contract for this exact reason. FYI for those interested family plans must be on everything data $169.99 and individual $89.99 or higher. Add a lines, add on do not count. *****

What bull****, so even if I'm paying over 169 on my shared plan I don't qualify because the add-a-line and what not don't count? FU Sprint.
@CapsLockKey
Right. It doesn't matter what your monthly bill is or how many add-ons you have. It goes by the base price of the plan for the primary line. The yearly upgrade has always only been for the primary line so they don't figure the price of additional lines into the equation.
This base price or "MRC" is also the same thing that Sprint uses to determine the commissions that they pay to their non-corporate retailers.
At least they are still offering 75 dollars off on the silver and not throwing out the yearly upgrades entirely.

I think I am sold. At minimum I could sell the lapdock for $200 if not more.

If you bought it on preorder it was 200... 499 -100mir for phone and dock. that's 399 - 199 = 200.
I don't get why everyone was freaking out at how much they cost...
For new customers only, rats!

Rats, only good for new activations, not for renewals - the renewal price is $449.99.
I would have totally jumped on it for $249.99!

Not really sure what numbers you are talking about there, this is for the phone and the lapdock. I have seen deals for $130 for the phone by itself, but never anything in this range for the phone and lapdock together. Plus no requirement to purchase tethering.

lol wut?
it was never $200 for the phone and dock together...
It was 599 - 100 mail in rebate in the at&t stores...
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
To be accurate, what the said was 499 AFTER the 100 rebate.
They never said 599 and a 100 rebate. Anyway, that makes Nonov's math look like:
"If you bought it on preorder it was 300... 599 -100mir for phone and dock. that's 499 - 199 = 300."
Which is what people have been saying for months.
From the OP, the letstalk bundle is 450, 50 off ATT. With an additional 200 off, thats 250. If you put the worth of the phone at 200, as Nonov did, this makes the laptop 50.
Ah, remember when everyone was throwing rumors of 150/150 for phone/laptop dock? But eh, it's the last push for new customers for ATT.
And it was just removed. Interesting though, it made me check my account and apparently my account IS available for upgrade +$50 off. I could get an Atrix for $150 right now. Weird since I got my Captivate last summer, but I'm not complaining! Don't think I'm gonna go with the Atrix though.

Yup, got my order in just in time. I agree I am seeing "Sorry, this product is no longer available." Listing on the page.
Ugh, now LetsTalk is claiming the pricing was a mistake, according to AndroidPolice they may attempt to cancel the orders:
Update: LetsTalk/Walmart Wireless now says "this product is no longer available." When we called them, we were told the sale was a mistake. We aren’t yet sure whether the $250 price will be honored for customers who already bought the bundle.

They are only selling AT&T for another week so I'm sure it'll be discounted. You also sign additional contracts and Let's Talk is known to be a pretty iffy place to buy phones.

Agree, it seems that the current deal would give me an ETF fee of over $600 if I canceled in the first 6 months. But I can live with that.
** Update 2-28-11 **
I think I will just update this post, since I don't want upset people by gloating about this great deal.
Walmart issued me a delivery date, so I called to confirm that it was accurate. The Wal-mart rep told me that they would be honoring the deal. I thought that was pretty cool of them.

T-Mobile ETFs

I'm trying to figure this out, but I cannot get a firm answer anywhere else.
I have a Vibrant (duh). I actually got it the day it was released. (July 13 of 2010? Something like that?). I like it, but time to move on. T-Mobile, like with so many other handsets in the past, has abandoned it.
I am planning on going over to Verizon for a few reasons. One is because I moved to a different part of the country and T-Mobile's service out here near the Atlanta area sucks. Constantly dropping calls, not getting calls, dropping down to EDGE for no reason, etc. Another is because I'm getting really tired of T-Mobile dropping support for all of their popular devices after 6-8 months. And the other is because the new Nexus device, which is heavily rumored to be LTE, intriques me.
My question is, say I waited until the end of December to switch over. I still have until that magical day in July to wait before my contract expires, but if I wanted to break it...how much would that be? I'm hearing all sorts of numbers...100, 200, 80-something. If someone could shed some light on their ETF policy, and perhaps ways to avoid it, I would be forever grateful.
If you have more than 180 days(6 months) left on your contract, then the ETF is 200.
If you have less than 180 days left on your contract, then the amount is reduced and begins to be prorated.
Additionaly, T-Mobile has made a change to their contract. Back in the day, if you moved to a Non-T-mobile area....they would allow you out of your contract without an ETF. T-Mobile no longer cares if you move to a non t-mobile service area, you are responsible for the ETF. Additionaly, if you move to a non T-Mobile service area, and you roam excessively they will cancel you and ask that you pay the ETF.
Carrier contracts are honestly bull****. There needs to be a class action lawsuit, because things just don't seem to jive about these contracts.
The above information is effective as of July 24, 2011.
For you....visit this link and click the correct date above for YOUR term-conditions.
http://www.t-mobile.com/Templates/Popup.aspx?PAsset=Ftr_Ftr_TermsAndConditions&print=true
Contracts/Renewels signed between June 28, 2008 and July 18, 2010....the following applies:
3. * Your Term of Service and Termination Fees. You agree to maintain Service with us for your minimum term (‘Term”). (Periods of suspension of Service do not count toward your Term.) After your Term, you will become a month-to-month customer. EXCEPT FOR MONTH-TO-MONTH CUSTOMERS, AN EARLY TERMINATION FEE WILL APPLY IF YOU CHOOSE TO END YOUR SERVICE BEFORE THE END OF YOUR TERM, OR IF WE TERMINATE IT EARLY. FOR SERVICE ACTIVATED, OR ACCEPTANCE OF A NEW ONE OR TWO YEAR TERM, ON OR AFTER 06/28/08, THE EARLY TERMINATION FEE IS: $200 IF YOU TERMINATE WITH MORE THAN 180 DAYS REMAINING ON YOUR TERM; $100 IF YOU TERMINATE WITH 91 TO 180 DAYS REMAINING ON YOUR TERM; $50 IF YOU TERMINATE WITH 31 TO 91 DAYS REMAINING ON YOUR TERM; AND THE LESSER OF $50 OR YOUR MONTHLY RECURRING CHARGES (including any applicable taxes and fees) IF YOU TERMINATE IN THE LAST 30 DAYS OF YOUR TERM. The Early Termination Fee is part of our rates and is not a penalty. The Early Termination Fee applies only to the extent permitted by law. Unless you request otherwise, your termination will be effective at the end of your current billing cycle. You will remain responsible for all fees and charges for your Service and usage through termination. If you bought your wireless Device from an independent T-Mobile dealer or other third-party vendor, they may charge a separate termination fee.
If I did my math correct, you have 9 months left on your contract, which is more than 180 days, you would owe the full 200. I would say wait until 6 months, for it to drop down to 100 then cancel if you really want to leave.
i can't wait to cancel t-mobile. the service in my new area is terrible, even though its green on their map. i'll be doing so around november when it drops to $100 for my etf.
In addition T-mobile charges tax on ETF. In my case it was 200 + 40 just for ETF.
