Phone dosent work after soft reset - HD2 General

Every rom i flash works fine but whenever i soft reset it gets stuck at the bootup screen for ever ive tried 3 different roms now. The only way to get it to work again is holding volume down+power and reflashing a new rom. Any ideas on whats wrong?

first check your radio version is correct, (i.e if you have a 576 enabled rom, make sure the radio is a ..50.. version)
If not that, do a task 29.

coincidence or faulty?

hi all,
i have a little problem.
i am pretty confident in upgrading my rom and i usually upgrade to duttys but,
last night i thought i would try:
[ROM][WWE][18.06.2009] Miri WM 6.5 21815 :: V 19.0 [ONLINE]
i did what i would normally do hold power on and down.....blah blah blah...
everything worked fine untill....
the phone reset and run the align screen! it now looks like the drivers need to be loaded on the screen, the display has turned all green and pixleated, i thought it was the rom i just downloaded so, i downloaded the latest dutty run that install and it done exactly the same thing and got the same result BUT if i press the off button (not to shutdown) just to turn screen off then press it back on again the display is fine????? untill the system restarts and then it is all poxlated again.
Also the dutty rom runs really slow i mean we are talking 2 mins for the touch flo to respond and then sometimes phone locks up or just resets
i have tried a master reset in the new(and previous) rom and still it is the same.
orignal:
R 1.12.25.16
G 52.60.25.330
D 1.56.47.501
new:
R 1.14.25.24
G 52.64.25.34h
D 1.59 dutty
hope you can help

I am assuming you are using USPL? Did you re-use USPL before flashing either of these roms?

If you are using USPL you need to reuse it before every flash to either radio or rom.
Alternatively use HSPL which is permanent
If you don't use USPL or HSPL you will get green screen problems as well as connections problems and other issues which could wreck your phone
Yes, I know cRaCKwHoRe, he's a good mate and also a beta tester like me.
If you follow his guide, which you'll notice is also linked in my signature, you'll be fine
EDIT
Its actually not as bad as you think. Once you get the hang of it you'll be fine
i think all he needs is the newer hspl
coz if you have old hspl and flash a newer rom u get the display error

Probably right. Just depends on what he already has and what his SPL says in bootloader.
@ htchdowner - Go into bootloader by:
1. Turn off device
2. Hold down vol down
3. Continue to hold vol down and turn on device
You will be presented with a tri-colour screen
What does it say after SPL?

go into bootloader and flash again.
what phone its it? not a tmous is it? (unlikely I think, but gotta ask)
My phone is a normal HTC HD2 Leo sold in Italy. No longer works. After a reset, hangs on the first screen. ActiveSyc not see it. The bootloader works without ActiveSync? Where can I find?
power off
press hold and keep holding volume down
tap and release power
when you see colored stripes screen release volume down.
that is boot loader, you can flash from there.
You dont realy need to hold both, volume up and down keys. Just hold volume down and and when holding it, allso press hang up key (right hard key). Thats how you enter boot screen.
Use HSPL, task 29, and flash any room you like. I like energy - more advanced or use artemis - more easy to.. (search xda forum)
There is so many options,
God luck, m.
heh, oh yea, my mistake, was thinking hard reset, d'oh.
Thanks SASAMUEL thanks M. PULSAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[Q] HD2 Doesnt upgrade

Hi,
Today I've tried to install android onto my HD2. After installing 'mgdlr' to my phone it stopped doing upgrades alltogether.
Mgdlr did install correctly but after the reset I only got that white HTC screen.
I know I have to press the power button really long etc etc (I've read the guide thoroughly).
Now, when I try to install anything it doesn't go any further than 0%. Not with any (official) ROM, radio etc.
I've done several hard resets, soft resets and re-installs but nothing gets past 0%.
Does anyone have any clue what happened and why I can't install a ROM and perhaps knows how to fix it?
What are you trying to install? An android rom? Are you going to the flashing mode in magldr? it's option 4 or 5, I think. Magldr was installed successfully? What radio do you have?
I was indeed trying to install an android rom. My radio version was/is 3.14.404.2
I never got to that mode. I've seen it in video's but mine doesn't. I only get that white screen with, in green letters, HTC on it. No matter how long I hold down the power button.
Btw, I said that magdlr installed succesfully because it installed without errors. But I think it's malfunctioning because it obviously isn;t doing what it's supposed to. Re-installing it isn't an option because it hangs at 0%
Did you try task29? might help with your upgrading issues.

Which NAND rom did you use?
You mean your radio is 2.14.404.2 right, not 3.14.404.2?
Also what is your SPL, it appears in the tri color screen/bootloader.

I think youre right about the radio. It was the standard radio of the latest stock rom. Is there any way to check? My spl is 2.08.0000.
And I was going for rafdroid, not that it matters because I never got close to installing a rom.
Thanks for the replies so far!

if your spl is 2.08.0000, first, how did you get magldr to instal since it requires hspl? second, if you removed hspl after flashing magldr (hence 2.08.0000 and not 2.08.hspl as it should be), why?
enter bootloader, does it really say 2.08.0000?
You dont have to press the power button for 'really long' only about 5 seconds, so long as its the right 5 seconds, , , start the phone, first splashscreen appears, just as the first splashscreen is about to end, (after around 5/6 seconds) start pressing power, and keep it held till the magldr menu appears.

Mate, I need more info.
1. Your device version (branded or non branded?)
2. Your rom version before you start anything (stock or custom rom?, if stock, is it version 3.14 (the latest one)?)
3. Version of Android (NAND or SD Android?)
4. Are you planning to have dual boot WP7 and SD ANdroid?
5. Do you have HSPL installed?
The solution will depend on your answer on the above question
Cheers
Ive tried task29 but it does the same as any other update. It just wont let me flash anything, it keeps hanging at 0%

Ok. Let's start from the very beginning.
Find the CORRECT STOCK ROM first. You go to htc website and use your serial number to download the rom. Make sure your downloaded file is not corrupt.
Get micro sd and use PC to format it to fat 32.
Extract the stock rom and find file with the name: RUU_signed.nbh. Rename it to: leoimg.nbh.
Turn off the phone (make sure battery at least 50% capacity), put your micro sd.
Now, press the VOLUME DOWN BUTTON (don't release it), then press POWER ON button at the same time until white screen appear. Now, follow the on screen instruction.
If you succeed, check your spl by going into boot loader screen.
If your spl is other than spl 3.03, you can continue with next process. Installing SPL 3.03 HSPL.
Then, Do task 29. Then, flash radio 2.15.xx. Then install magldr 1.13.
All process can be done while in the boot loader screen.
If you succeed, you will be brought to mgldr screen. Select option no.5 (USB flasher) and press the green phone call button and connect it via USB, now run the NAND ANDROID you choose from your PC. If fails, retry the process from magldr screen and try different USB port. Also, make sure your anti virus, firewall, and Internet is turn off.
Good luck...
Thank you man, it worked!
I did everything you said and my phone is back up and running
Thanks!

HD2 kinda broken what can i do?

Hey XDA
Hope someone out there have got some good advice. We have some HD2s where i work and i have been sent one that is acting kinda weird.
I simply can not get it to flash a rom (_HTC HD2_RUU_Leo_S_HTC_DAN_3.14.403.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship) - we only use normal HTC roms. When i try to flash it nothing happens, it boots into the bootloader and just sits there at 0% until i disconnect the cable, if i dont it will sit there untill it runs out of battery. Tried a few times now and same result.
i have also just tried a restore, to see if its the internal flash rom that is broken and the restore also fails. My own HD2 restores in like a few seconds but this one just sits there again, like when i try to flash a rom to it.
So is it totally dead or is there something i should try?
Have you tried to use task29 (via computer) , then flash (via nbh) the htc rom?
hmm just tried task29 and it did nothing, it booted the phone to the bootloader but no progress screen did show up. Tried it again and the phone just shut off again after showing the bootloader for a few seconds.
beginning to think this phone is toast.
Gonna try a HSPL update later and just flash a non HTC rom to see if that works.

HSPL 2.08 & reflash original HTC ROM via PC USB.
Do you get any error codes from the flash utility ?
could be CID related but you should see error code.
Yes, trying it with HSPL seems like a good idea to me, too.
Because then you can also try other ROMs.
will try this stuff on monday - i just cba to do more work today
thx for the advice
Build a gold-card and flash from the SD slot. If that doesn't work, put it in a zip lock bag and then into the freezer for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, boot the phone and try flashing again immediately in it's chilled state. If it get's ANY further, you have a bad overheating NAND and need a new main board.
got HSPL2.08 flashed and a Dutty 3.14 rom but phone refuses to reboot sometimes and boot just shows the white HTC background and does not show the radio/os versions in the bottom. So i am just gonna toss this one out, since its can not be serviced (supplier has gone bust).
But still havn't gotten any error codes from the phone or flash programs, other then "USB connection failed". So i think its nand is kinda broken now.

first, you can't run 3.14 roms on anything except spl 3.03.0000 or 3.03.hspl
Second it isn't booting because it almost certainly needs an updated radio, 2.15.50 for instance. You probably still have a 2.xx.51 from the original stock, and so wont show rgd screen till you change radio, won't run smoothly till you correct the spl with hspl4

Put phone into bootloader manually, don't use front mounted USB ports, be sure and update win mo dev center to latest ver ..... all the usual USB connection error advice. Trying another PC with a different windows variant often helps if its available.

Things to Know how about my ROMs:
* Radio 2.15 Recommended
* HSPL 2.08 Recommended
* HSPL 3.03 doesn't support 576 RAM enabled
But i'll try to flash a 3.03HSPL and find out what happens. I did flash 2.15.50.14 radio before i flashed the Dutty rom. But gonna give it one last try.

Have tried two pc's now, both running Win7 32bit - its all we have now.
Ahhh gitcha, then the dutty rom mustnt be 100% 3.14 rom (I didn't check) it must use a 2.x base to enable 576ram.
In which case, if stock roms don't flash but custom did, it could be stuck radio syndrome, which you can test for with (correct, get it using your serial from HTC.com) stock rom flash from sd card (4gb or smaller, fat32). Look out for "rsa radio fail" or similar on screen.
Edit, oh you said you flashed a radio, and that went ok?

yeah HSPL2.08, HSPL3.03 and Radio is flashing just fine. The roms i have tried also flashes perfect its just will not boot afterwards. I can usually do a hardreset on it and it will boot one time. If you then shut it off and try to turn it on again it fails with the white HTC screen again.
I am toally clueless on what is wrong with it, so gonna try to figure out if we have some kind of warrenty left on it and get it switched over to another one.

[Q] SERIOUSLY bricked my htc hd2

I tried installing MIUI andriod to my htc hd2, so followed the step. Wich is unlocking the phone, installing MAGLDR. but while installing magldr i forgot to activate active sync. so when i boot my phone, it's stuck on the first screen. all white and HTC written in then middle. i can access the tri-color screen(it says, SPL-2.08.HSPL).
i've tried to hard reset the phone, even that dident work.
what can i do to fix this problem?
thanks in advance
It's not bricked, you probably did not flash a radio that is capable of running MAGLDR.
Install a radio from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787 with .50 on the back on your HD2 in the tri-color screen as you tried with magldr, europe radios start with 2 (example Leo_RADIO_2.15.50.14**) TMOUSE radios start with 15 (example Leo_RADIO_15.37.50.07U_2.10.50.08_2).
BE CAREFULL WITH THE RADIO, CHOOSE THE CORRECT ONE OR YOU WILL BRICK THE PHONE!!!
after that flash magldr again and it will work.
Ill try it, thanks!

no need to reflash magldr, its already flashed, it will start once the radio is correct.
