This is odd. I'm running a stock TMOUS ROM, haven't done anything out of the ordinary, and my phone froze up (which happens several times a day) so I unplugged the battery to reset and now I'm stuck at the "Stick together" screen.
All other cases of this that I've seen are from people's unsuccessful attempts at flashing a new ROM, but I'm running the stock T-mobile rom that I've been running for 2 months.
Please help. Id rather leave hard resetting as a later resort, since I dont really want to reinstall my apps and reset all of my tweaks, but if it comes to that so be it.
Oh, and the only thing different that I did was install the new bing maps mobile app that came out this morning. I did that several hours before the freeze...
Update:
I got impatient and hardreset despite my reservations to do so, and it's booting up now.
Well there's clearly no better time to flash a new rom than now... Off to the drawing board.
Take the battery out and make sure the pins are not bent, usually this is what happens when they are, the phone keeps rebooting itself but never fully starts. Gets to a tmo logo and restarts.
Edit: glad it works now, on my old one i had this problem and it was due to that...
mine did that once, took the batt out like twice more....then i just left it for like 15 mmin and it booted up
Can someone tell me if the 3 pins on HD2 for the battery are all aligned up horizontally or is 1 higher thn 2 and 3 is way up there?

I am having the same issue. I have dutty's rom.It had been working fine and then I got the issue where the screen wouldn't light up so I took out the battery and now it won't go past the boot screen with the stick together and doesn't even display the three things at the bottom left hand corner.
I did hard reset and still stuck on stick together, and my pisn don't appear bent.

3-4 weeks. It was working fine and now it just shows the stick together and not the rgd at the bottom riight. I can get to the HSPL boot loader, but I don't think I have installed any programs the last week or so. I guess I could try task 29 etc, but it seems kind of strange i would have the problem all of a sudden.

hi everyone, this is my first official post on the forums, and well i need ur help on my phone, for some reason when i slide my phone the screen shows like random lines etc, then when i slide it back it does the same, and itll take like a good 30 mins to get the screen right to its proper look, usually itll show like blue, or green, and even sometimes i get that "White Screen" where id see it everytime i slide or slide it back so idk, and even when i soft reset, either the screen is out of line or itll show those random lines again also to add to that sometimes the soft keys on the front dont work at times soo idk if its the ROM i just put in which was from T-Mobile or my screen :/.....i need ur help, cuz i might consider getting the screen replace or load the bootloader....appreciate the help and btw heres my video i just posted to give a good clearance of what im talking about and when i show the phone up close im fiddling with the power button to show how it is, thnx
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2Lnwzqkt8k
im sure its the rom, i used pdaviet's rom and it did that ****. i replaced it with a different rom and it never did it again.
well i just redid everything and EVEN on the bootloader still had the whacky look on the screen...
ok well i put the old rom, the one that came with when i first got it, and still no luck....could it be a faulty screen connection? or the screen dying? and btw the phone has a real irritating noise.... and also on bootup he screen wont be aligned....idk what to do...
God..... Vital information you didnt put in... if you hear the noise, then its a goner. it prolly has a leaky capacitor, or the screen is some how desoldered and shorting out the board.

well whats the best bet? should i get this repaired as soon as possible???? or get a new one? and doubt bout the second reason, cuz the noise stops when my screen is off(of course) and sometimes when its in portrait mode, ya the screen would be on and would be white but none of that hating noise
The title basically says it all. I have a rooted mytouch 3g and the phone works perfectly fine when you are using it. The problem comes when the screen turns off to go to sleep. when I try to turn the screen back on to wake it up, it goes all berserk. I get these horizontal black and grey, monochromatic lines that pop up and move all around the screen. If it gets back, it kinda freezes on there, then the screen turns black again. I have to try to wake the phone back up and it keeps happening still. It's only after the fifth or sixth try that the screen still does it, but then my lock screen FINALLY comes up and I can unlock my phone. However, at times, this does not happen at all, not even a little bit. I'm stumped. i have reflashed my cyanogenmod that I had on it and it is running the latest because I thought maybe that was it, though I doubted it because I have two other mytouch's and a g1 that are running the same ROM and have no problem like that whatsoever. can anyone shed some light on this issue please. I would really appreciate it. I have been worrying over this all day trying to fix it to no avail. Once again, thank you for any help I get.

I did a wipe. Reformatted the memory card as well. I had cyanogen 4.0.1 then 4.0.2 and now 4.0.3 but had the same problem with all of them. Just havent pulled the battery but i doubt it will affect it.
Had the same issue when using a few of the Hero roms. would hit the button and the screen would flash some junk on the screen and then go back out. Had to hit the button about four times before it would finaly come back on. Have not had that problem with Cyanogen's though.
This is kind of a retarded question but its worth asking. Has the phone ever been wet? Have you takin into the bathroom while you shower? I have been thinking long and hard about disassembling my MyTouch just too see how its built (it still has a warranty, DAMN void stickers). Just by looking at the back with the cover off it is very suseptable to humitity. I do alot of phone repair and i have seen this problem many of times when there is corrosion on the flex cable. its only spazzes out when theres a sudden power surge. Have you tried a factory ROM
The MyTouch i use to flash roms on to "test" em out use to belong to a freind. She had droped it into her cranberry juice and vodka one night (I'm sure it was a great night). After disassembly to remove all the sugar before reboot i took a good long look. They are EXTRMELY easty to dissasemble and reassemble. about eight screws total for removing back cover and boards. Few connections. Give me a bit and I'll see if i can figure out how to post pics.
AS promised. sorry for the bad quality. By the way, After cleaning all the syrup from the boards with 91% rubbing alcohol, I have flashed it about 12 times looking for a good rom.
I have just got the HD2 and been using it for a few weeks. Downloaded a few apps (eg HTC rom, BSB tweeks) and all is good. Saw Max Manila and looked like a great idea - checked my manila version 2.5.19211619.0 and downloaded 2.7 SE (checked it's right for my manila) loaded onto phone and it crashed after soft reset. Took battery out and phone doesn't go past first screen (with the red writing bottom left) - Hard reset is the same and now I'm worried!
Any ideas???
sad to say yy sounds like hard reset time.
power off, hold volume up and volume down, tap power keeping volume up and down pressed til the screen comes on and follow the prompts.
it will reset your phone to factory defaults.
never used max manila so I cant help with what the problem might be, but if there is a developers thread for it you might be better asking there.
Thanks for replying samsamuel - I've tried the hard reset and it doesn't work!
Even when I do as you say, I get the white start screen with htc written on it and then several red lines at the bottom right starting R G and D and that's it! It just stay's like that - At this moment I'd pray for a hard reset!!
I'm going to try booting from the sd card but I'm not sure I can get the phone to go into the bootable mode. I've downloaded the HTC rom and extracted the nmh so we'll see.
if your phone is provider locked then that will not work.you need the rom that came on your phone. so if was from uk o2 then you need the o2 uk rom, otherwise it wont work.
No luck! Whilst I've got everything to sort the phone out it won't do anything but load the white first screen no matter which buttons I hold down.
Man this sucks!
Guess there's nothing for it except the bin unless anyone else has any other ideas??
can you get into boot loader?
press and hold vol down(not up this time, just down) tap and release power, keep vol down held. should boot to striped cultures colored screen.
if you can what does it say next to SPL?
Hi Samsamual
Thanks for helping but no, won't go into bootloader either - doesn't respond to any input (even when I conect the usb the charge led doesn't come on!) and just starts with the white screen with the HTC logo and then the red writting appears and it just hangs - left it for 5 mins just to be sure and no change
Looks like I've really messed it up although I have no idea what I did wrong - instal went just like the other things I installed.
Ahh shame. All i can suggest is the original rom sd card method. But it MUST be the propper rom that came on your phone, so if you got it from vodaphone, , , even if it is unlocked, you must use the voda rom.
Also, have a really good read through the pages in teh rom development section. If you can find someone with the exact same issue, you could be one step closer to fixing it.

When you tried the SD card method did you use a 2GB SD card and was it formatted to FAT32?
WB
Have you tried a boot (all combinations!) without the sd card installed?
Hoss and WB - thanks for the comments
Hoss, I've held the volume buttons for over a minute after powering on - no change
WB, I can't get the phone to go into boot loader screen but thanks for the info for the future. Next time I'll see if I can copy the original rom just in case.
Resigned myself to having a new paper weight on my desk and looking for a new phone - Guess I won't be putting so many programs on my new one....
PA - Thanks for the advice - Yes tried with sd card in/out sim in/out bootloader, hard reset, soft reset and always the same.
In your posts you do not mention where you bought your HD2, and I do not know what country you are in.
From what I have read, it seems that you did not flash any ROMs, nor change your SPL, so if I were you, at this point, rather than accepting a bricked paperweight, why not explore your warranty possibilities?
Contact the place you bought the HD2 (the dealer) and explore your options. Since I do not know which country you are in I will not suggest an HTC service center, but if your country has such a center, at last resort, you might check out that possibility.
Since you apparently had no hardware problems before the manila incident, it would seem that it is a software glitch somehwere.
Good luck with all of this. It must be almost heartbreaking to have this happen with such beautiful hardware.

What's most annoying is it wasn't as if I was doing anything crazy! Max manila is used by many people (from what I've seen in the threads) and I guess I downloaded the wrong one (although naturally I checked and it's the right one). Certainly will curb my using of 3rd party software! As for the warranty, you're right, I can try and see if it can be fixed (bizarrely, that hadn't occured to me - I thought that with no resets working HTC couldn't do anything). Thanks for the tip and I'll let you know how I get on.
Surely your warranty will cover this. Yes, let me (and us) know how all of this goes. You will get your phone back to what you deserve, for sure!
I had the same issue.
Sent mine to HTC and got it back with the comment "Cannot reproduce"
Probably it solved itself when the battery was removed for a couple of days in the mail.
It has now been working for two weeks again.
Fingers crossed.

Experential nut I may be, but just wondering if you had the problem after you installed the MAx manila? I wonder now what versions of OS may be causing this problem.
i had something like this with my HTC Diamond... It stopped responding completely when turned on, didn't respond to the usb cable being plugged in (the round ring used to illuminate when charging)
I took the battery out, for about 30 minutes... then left it charging for another 30 minutes - booted up straight away and never did anything like that again
Worth a shot just leaving it without power for awhile, and then just recharging it
Like watnuweer mentioned, "cannot reproduce" probably fixed itself by not having the battery left in for awhile

This is getting more interesting, what do you suppose is the cure of taking out the battery, and then charging? I do not doubt your experience, I am just extremely curious if anyone can explain this phenomena.
I have to say, I am real close to getting rid of my HD2 and going back to the basic Samsung Comeback in my drawer. I had the AT&T Tilt a few years ago and loved it but just couldn't afford the bells and whistles package that you needed to fully enjoy it. I've since switched to Tmobile and now am able to afford the full unlimited everything package to enjoy this new HTC HD2.
However, over the last few weeks, this phone has gotten increasingly worse. I installed the Cookies Home Tab only to uninstall it a few days later cause it really slowed the phone down. I also installed BSB Tweaks which also did nothing but slow the phone down as well.
So for the last three weeks or so, the phone has been ok speed wise. Upon turning the phone on, it takes almost four minutes for me to be able to open the phone and make a call. I can open the phone, select a contact and hit send, but it won't actuallyt dial for about 3-4 minutes. Very Very annoying. Now as of ten minutes ago, when I wake up the device and slide the unlock, it goes to the start menu...well sort of.. This is kinda hard to explain so I'll do my best....
Instead of the phone going to the normal HOME screen, it says START in the upper left corner and has an X in the upper right corner, however, it still displays the lock screen wallpaper and the slider to unlock is stuck either left or right (whichever way I slide it.) If I tap the X in the upper right, it brings me to the HOME screen. Now if I push the windows key or tap START, it does the same thing as when I try to unlock it only I have an unresponse HOME screen displayed. If I tap the X in the upper right, it closes the START menu that it thinks it has opened and I can use the HOME screen again. Basically now I can't use my programs!!! WTF. The only programs I have installed other than what came with it are CHT editor and Visual GPS. Sorry for the long post but I'm really frustrated here and hope someone can help. I tried SOFT reset a few times and I don't want to do hard reset because I can't back anything up right now being unable to access any programs at all. Thanks in advance.
Joe
Did a soft reset one more time. It seems to be now, that the area where the battery indicator, signal strenght and volume adjustment are, are now unresposive. Everything else works fine except that one tiny little spot of the screen. I can now access programs again. If I use Opera and rotate the screen, that top portion, which is now the side, works fine. So it has to be something related to the notification bar. Any ideas????
Joe
Backup what you want to keep and do a hard reset. I've had my HD2 since the first week of April and have been using Co0kies Home Tab since 1.7 came out without the problems you have. Start fresh and see if you have the same problems.
Try to disable Sense to see if you can access your apps so you can back up what you need.
hard reset time.
install a custom rom man, my hd2 was exactly like that and that fixed it up good!

Have a browse over at the custom ROM forum, look up how to install HSPL onto the device, pick a ROM from the many threads and flash a new one. They are far far faster, they have no unnecessary programs on them and they go like a rocket.
If you get stuck come back here and I or someone else will endevour to help you out.
I would post some links to the downloads but I am on the HD2 on an EDGE connection at the moment.
Let us know how you get on.
If you are going to flash a custom ROM, you might want to go to the T-Mobile USA HTC HD2 section of the forum as you probably have a T-Mobile USA HD2. All the ROMs in that section should be compatible with your device while some in this section will brick your phone.
you dont need a costum rom to have a smooth hd2...
i've got the stock 1.48 rom..and i'm pretty happy with it..
i think a hardreset will redefine your htc-experience
and yeah: i'm running cht since 1.6 and had never such problems...

Thanks for the everyones input. I don't get online to much because I work two jobs so I just checked this thread today. The screen completely went out on me 20 minutes ago. The touch doesn't work at all. I tried soft resetting it and leaving the battery out for a while to no avail. I am going to the shore tonight and plan on checking out the ROMS when I get there tonight. Im willing to lose whatevers on the phone at this point just to get it running properly again. I'll post back with my results or if I have any questions. Thanks again to all who responded.
Joe
Ok so I got impatient and didn;t want to drive to the shore without my phone just incase there was a problem. I did a hard reset and my screen is still unresponsive. Im guessing the phone is shot???? What the heck could have caused this. The last few days when it became unresponsive I just removed and reinstalled the battery and it would work for a few hours. I figured it was software related but I guess it must be hardware related. Any ideas????
Joe
try it for a few hours WITHOUT the sd card plugged in...see how that fairs and lets us know.
I left the battery out of it all day (about 17 hours) and when I put the battery back in and turned it on I still got no response fromn the touch screen. All the buttons work though. I'm gonna take the SD card out and leave it on overnight tonight and try it in the morning. Im really upset that this phone has started to slowly fall apart on me.

What the other poster meant was to try and use your phone without the sd card in it.
If the sd card is failing then it will cause problems on the phone.
Left the SD card out of the phone with it on for over 24 hours. Still no response from the touch screen. All the buttons still work. My only guess at this point is that the Digitizer must have failed. Anyone know where I can get a OEM digitizer for a good price? It looks like ebay is around 60-70 bucks.

I use the european mobile.
This problem began in Las vegas when i was on holiday, its there 40 celcius so i think it overheaten.

reflashing the rom may be a good idea.
Switching to a newer ROM is also a good idea since this one has patches etc from january
And you hd2 protects itself by shutting down if it gets too hot.
Thanks guys, but hard reset is not the option so?
And where i am now, its not hot. So it wont get overheaten now, so that weird.

hard reset=fresh install from scratch (in hd2 android you dont have a winmo 6.5style hard reset)
it could be the pins that connect to the battery, make sure none are bent, happened to me a couple of days ago.
as post above, , easily more than half the time this problem gets posted it turns out to be bent battery pins, or an almost flat battery.
Though temperature has been ruled out, it wouldn't hurt to try cooling the phone down to see if it has an effect. Put the phone in the fridge for 10-15 min (no longer to avoid condensation) then start it up. If it starts up completely then that might be an indication of a thermal issue. It happened with another HD2 I had and the only way it'll get past the boot screen is if it is cold. I'm very cautious with my recent one to not leave it in the car (in the Los Angeles summer heat) to avoid repeating this problem.
Otherwise, like many have said before, try reflashing your current ROM or try another one.
Just my two cents. Peace.
