Can someone provide me with a cab that would allow me to touch the alarm icon indicator on the home page (just below clock and above calendar) that would jump me to the "alarm settings" page? I am new to the HD2 and the only way I can find to navigate to the alarms is through Settings>all settings>clocks & alarms. Alternatively, I would like a way to create a quicklink to such things as Alarms; sounds; and system. I am not brave enough to use registry editor yet, so something simple would be helpful. I am using an unlocked TMo on ATT. Thanks

see the control panel items link in my sig.
Really? Can't you just tap the clock and then navigate using the tabs? I have the tmous version.
(lol i did think that, too, on mine i tap the alarm button on the homepage below the clock to get htc alarms, but that was so obvious i assumed the OP meant windows alarms, heh.)
Yeah... that functionality is already there... :S
Jump to Alarms
Perhaps I am missing something, but it does not work for me to "tap the clock" to get to the clock or the alarms. Nor does it work for me to "tap the alarm" indicator. The only way for me to get to the clock or the alarm is the method that I described earlier. Nothing happens at all if I tap the clock or by tapping the alarm indicator. If there is some way to set the clock on the home page to respond to my "tap" then I don't know what it is and would appreciate someone telling me how to do it. I will investigate the method mentioned above by samsamuel about setting shortcuts to control panel items tomorrow and post my results.
have you been messing with cookies home tab settings? because that program can set what program ( if any ) comes up when you tap areas of the screen.
failing that i'd be backing up and hard resetting.
Hmm
Since i got my phone Orange UK i have been able to tap the alarm icon to go straight to the settings.

Can't access clock / alarm from home tab
Samsamuel: Thanks for the control panel quick links work around. I've created the shortcut links following your directions and was then able to add a quick link on my home page to go directly to the clock / alarm. In my case it actually takes me to the alarm page first which is just what I needed. I'm still unsure why I need this if other users are able to access their clock and alarm directly. You asked about messing with home tabs and cookies. I have not done that (or at least not on purpose that I know of). How do you conduct a "hard reset"? I've installed the one touch "soft reset" cab which works great, but hasn't fixed my clock problem. If I do a "hard reset" will I have to reload my contact data, quicklinks, reload the cabs I've installed, etc? I'm just a new guy trying to get my phone to do what I need. Thanks to everyone that has helped so far.
to be honest you're better off using the windows alarms anyway, i don't quite trust the htc one just yet, not that its failed, it just doesn't seem quite as solid.
to hard reset, remembering that this is a factory reset, phone is wiped, so back up ya stuff, power off the phone, press and hold both vol up and vol down. it can be a touch tricky, i find you get a better press with the battery cover off,,,, press and hold those two, and tap and release power. phone should start into bootloader but immediately turn grey with blue writing. you can release the vol now.
Windows vs HTC clock / alarm
How do I know whether I'm accessing the windows or HTC clock / alarm? The control panel quicklink I've established takes me to a page that looks like my old windows phone alarm page. Is the item on the homepage (which doesn't work) supposed to take me to an HTC clock / alarm? If I do a hard reset, it sounds like I'll have to reload all of the cabs I've just installed (task manager, battery indicator, zoomer, keyboard, soft reset, etc.). I presume that my sim card contacts will be left alone. Is there another way to reset / clear cookies without doing the hard reset?
If you do have Co0kie's Home Tab installed, run the CHTEditor, go to the applications page and click on Alarm. Then, select "Default" (bottom right softkey) and "Menu", "Exit" and apply changes (if it asks). If it doesn't ask if you want to apply changes then it was already set as the default application and something else must be at work here.
Windows clock vs HTC
I do not have CoOkies Home Tab. From what everyone is saying, my home page is not responding properly, but I don't know why. I am willing to do the hard reset, but would rather not go that route unless it is necessary since I will have to reload a bunch of stuff.
I would definitely consider a hard reset if the quick links are not working.
I'm not convinced that the HTC alarm is less reliable than the windows mobile one since the HTC alarm is just a nice interface setting the windows alarms!

I recently just noticed that when I browsed using Pocket Internet Explorer (PIE), the "Back" button on the bottom left hand side is no longer shown. It only shows the "Favorites" button, thus I can NOT go back to the previous web page.
I didn't make any registry changes or anything like that and the only programs that have the capability to changes hardware button settings are SpB Plus and SoftKey and they don't have the option to change the PIE application button.
Anyone know how I can bring the "Back" button back?
It only shows "favorites" when there is nothing to go back to. ie the first page of the session. As soon as you navigate to the next page it changes to "back"
That is correct. But what I meant is that even after I navigate to a website, the button still shows as "Favorites".
I.e. From "Home" screen, go to cnn.com, then go to yahoo.com. The "Back" button is not shown and I can't go back to cnn.com

Things to check:
Have you changed any setting that disables the PIE cache.
Is PIE able to cache pages eg is it to storage card and does it's folder still exist and is SD card reachable.
Perhaps try changing cache location?
Mike
Yes, I did change the PIE cache location to "Storage Card". That folder exist in File Explorer and I can see in "Storage Card" that there is a "Temporary Internet Explorer" folder.
I tried changing the size of the cache, move to "Extended ROM" and ROM storage, but to no avail.
I removed (but not uninstall) WisBar, thinking it may change it, but also to no effect. However, I don't think WisBar did anything to it, since it only skin the application.
I am thinking that some application may messed up PIE, but all the apps that I installed are the same ones I have installed in my old MDA and there was no issue on the MDA. If there is some registry change I can apply to fix it, do let me know.
Mmmm.....
Couple of things I'm curious about - SpB Plus and SoftKey. I don't have either of these. But It's worth setting back any setting you have entered since your problem developed. Just because it has no specific setting does not mean that a seemingly non related change has not caused problem (for example if you set smooth scrolling in PIE using say Tweaks2k2 you will find the tab behaviour when sending SMS messages has changed!). Do not just uninstall these apps as this will not reset the registry changes they may have made.
The reason I asked about cache was simply that with no cached pages to return to there would be no back option available,
Of course you will have a nice SPB backup or two available to restore with won't you!!!? I play around with mine so much (!) that I keep several backups at various stages of application installation and over time.
Also curious to know if your history is being recorded in PIE drop down list in URL box. At a pinch you could use this as a rough sort of back button.
I have not looked into all the registry keys for PIE. This forum Wiki or indeed the wiki for some of the other devices may already have the keys mapped out . I did find info on setting cache size.
In the end it may be simpler to hard reset if those backups are not available.
Mike
Thanks for the detailed info, Mike.
I did disable SpB Plus, but to no effect. At the end, I uninstalled WisBar, Spb Plus, and SoftKey but nothing change either.
Yes, I can do hard reset, but I am trying to avoid that because I have to re-install everything. I have a "base" backup using SpB backup, but it still requires me to install other program as the other daily backup sets may already have corrupted PIE registry.
I am hoping that I can do something about this via the registry, unless this is something that really require hard reset just like the issue I have with duplicate notifications. i.e. after soft reset, the alarm reminder and sound will start although no appointment or task is scheduled at that time.
Now I know why PDA is not popular for most people.. it's just too damn fragile! And I used Windows CE since the time of Cassiopeia...
Hi,
In the instructions it shows in the radio pannel menu on the bottom right of the screen so you can set up traffic news, alarms, rds etc.
all of these things are not available through the settings menu via the pannel settings menu.
However I have a LIVE button due to vodadumb messing this up.
What i am asking is using SK tools program it gives me an option under category/system tweaks/tuneup and buttons tab it shows the soft key 2 as LIVE and the path as /windows/operaL.exe.
What I would like to know is if the soft key can be altered to enter the setting menu on the radio pannel that i am missing instead of the ****ty LIVE icon.
To get an understanding of what i mean please view
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/dow...6830/XPERIA X1__QG_Panels__EN_1213_0767_3.pdf
I can get to the settings however I cannot get the menu as described in this PDF
(check points 11 and 17 refering to a menu where you can set the alarm)
Can anyone help me or can anyone access this menu even with the custom roms?????
Thank you for your time
It is not your live button messing things up, I have the stock ROM on my phone (the default unbranded settings) and I have a contacts button instead.
As the radio is a today screen I am confused why it claims it would have a settings button at the bottom at all. Today screens usually have the default hotkeys you have configured in Windows, although I can't remember where you configure them.
But in answer to your question sadly I have no clue. I was not aware any of those options existed so I too am curious how you get to them. I had somewhat given the radio panel up as too limited as with any self respecting techie I didn't bother to read the manual.
Radio panel is very disapointing
I have noted the same issue. In the instructions manual I saw a possibility to set an alarm, which, in my understanding, would have made it possible to wake you up with your favorite radio station. But I can not find a way to enter any menu except the settings of the panels. By the way, does anyone know why there is no software in the other panels to make the radio work?
Hi,
I just installed the official 6.5 update but I think the WM 6.5 "Honeycomb" start menu is that damn slow when you got a lot of programs there. You have to scroll a lot and scrolling doesn't look very fluid.
Is there a way or a registry hack to get back the old HTC start menu that was delivered when the Diamond2 originally came out? The best would be if there where 4 icons in a row.
I've added a snapshot to show what I mean. Yes, as you can see on the snapshot I'm back to 6.1
My startmenu is very fluid to be honest, I got my programs and stuff sorted in folders. Like games, media (coreplayer etc), network (commanager etc), personal (phone, sms, email etc), GPS, system (total commander, resco explorer, reg edit etc). I will install SPB Screenshot and show you how it looks.
Here you go.

Its still there under the programs tab... ? or at least it is on mine...
sorry if this is a noob question, but how do i add folders to the start menu like you've done? and change icons?
I have done the same thing that you have done, Created folders in the start menu, to do this you just go to windows/startmenu and create folders in there.
However every time I soft reset my device, extra icons appear on the main start page screen. Is there any way to remove these?
I would love to go back to the HTC Start Menu as it was so much better, I know it is on a Tab on Touch Flow 3D but it defeats the point in having a hardware button to launch programs!

I totally agree. The current Startmenu lack the support for hiding items en ordering them. Love to find a solution.
I do not have any issues restructuring my start menu.
The only icons I keep on the main page are Phone and Reset, everything else is in a sub-folder and does not add icons to the main page.

True, but the TouchFlo "Programs" was much easier.
So am I the only one who's missing the drop-down menu when you tap the Start button - you know, the one that lists seven favourites and your four or five most recent programs?
Why should I navigate the Honeycomb every time I want to go to a program I use about 30 times a day?
Any fixes/hacks to bring this back? Or am I being really stupid and there's a simple option that I haven't found yet?

You can do this with Topaz Keyboard Controller: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=555821
Map the Start button to run the program "\Windows\manila.exe" with arguments "--switchtopage programs.page", and it should work perfectly - does for me.
I have a problem with the htc hd 2, when you press the windows logo button on the bottom of the phone you jump to menu where all the icons are (such as installed programs icons and settings).
what happened is that all icons are missing except the today icon, how can
you bring all those icons back?
Also when you install a new program the phone doesn't make any icon in the menu. I have soft reset my phone with the reset button on the back but wouldn't work.
Can somebody help me with this problem?

I hope for your sake I'm wrong, but that sounds like a hard reset is needed, to me. Wait and see if anyone else has any suggestions, but that sounds quite a nasty problem.
I have got the same problem... any ideas how to fix it without hard reset?
I have two such icons .. HTC people and HTC calendar. It seems it has something to do with turning corresponding tabs off and on again.
Yes it would me nice to fix it without hard reset Any suggestions?

How do you turn the corresponding tabs off and on?
Another thing hhen you go to the setting en press menu on the right corner then press more then nothing appears/happen?
Settins / personalize / home screen tabs
And I can confirm it .. first I had no such icons. Then I disabled calendar tab. Still nothing. Then I enabled calendar tab. And THC Calendar icon with no picture (only default one) showed up in the start menu. Now if I remove the tab, the icons gets removed too. But as I enable the tab again, icon is back.
Same for HTC People icon.
Only tweak I use which could have something to do with this enabling all settings icon in start menu (via BsB tweaks).

I see what you mean thanks for the effort, but with these icons the htc has no problems, its with icons you see when you press the windows logo button, its a long list with all the installed applications. In this screen they all disapeared except the today icon.
Some help from anybody would be very appreciated?
Hmmm
I had the same issue.
Flashed 1.48 over it.
Havn't had the problem since.
Check this dudes thread for additional/replacement icons...stunning stuff!

Updating rom solved the problem thanks for help me out!!
Any other solution available other then updating my ROM...cause it's already up-to-date.
I got this issue after a soft reset by BsB Tweaks.

Additional info:
- I'm using a Dutch ROM (so "\Windows\Startmenu\Program files" is called "\Windows\Startmenu\Programma's" )
- It happened after a soft reset after altering the Led Notifications/Message Notification setting
(I think the soft reset itself might have caused it)
- I have been moving startmenu items around using my ActiveSync connection
All I've found on the forum thus far is: Hard reset your device...but I really don't wanna.
Damn, it happened again. I'm stuck with just the Today icon again.
For a while I thought: leave it be. With Co0kie's Home Tab I can access all applications I need.
But I recently noticed that I cannot access my advanced settings screen either... and there's no shortcut for that.
Too bad, nobody came up with a solution that doesn't require a hard reset or ROM Update (which basically means the same: Clean slate).
Anyone?
Recently flashed Verizon's stock MR2 ROM with WinMo 6.5 and HTC Sense 2.5 (Manila 2.5.20132227.0). Its growing on me. Definately snappy compared to 2.1, but after a couple days I'm still looking for answers to the following:
-Slide to Unlock: ...every time the screen turns off it locks... is that necessary? Any settings or .cabs that'll give me a little more control of when it locks?
-Start Menu: Where can I get a 4-colum programs .cab for the displayed Start Menu programs... OR have the start menu display the standart WinMo 6.5 start menu. The .cabs I had for 2.1 don't seem to work.
-Programs tab: Where can I find a .cab to add a "Programs" tab back into the slider icons? The one I had for 2.1 (again) doesn't work. Also changing the registry entry in HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila doesn't work, either ("programs tab is hidden" from 1 to 0).
Any help would be appreciated.
yes you can change your lock screen settings...
It'll be somewhere in your settings... I cant tell you where as I myself never use it. I went into mine and saw in settings\system there was something called lock config so I'm sure your set up would have something like that.
the start menu... well in 6.5 they have the honeycomb menu. I think I read back a long while ago about a way to make it go old school I just havnt seen in it a long while... same with the programs tab. They took that out of 2.5
my advice... go to this thread and read about the add on and then add it. It adds SO much funtionality to sense it just makes the standard one look stupid
[Manila Mod][19-Jun-2010] Co0kie's Home Tab v1.8.5
then you'll need this to do the changes
[APP] CHTEditor v1.8.5.1 [UPDATE 19-JUN-2010]
note the screen shots in the links. You can have any number of layouts and "pages" that swipe up and down for different short cuts right on your home screen. Different clocks, notification bars etc etc.
Options for Start Menu Replacement WM 6.5
-Lock Screen: You should be able to locate lock config under Settings or Settings--->System (However, if you decide to use the aforementioned Cookie Home Tab Mod, the lock config is modified using Cookie Home Tab Editor under the Lock Screen menu.
-Start Menu: Try (utak3r's modified Quickmenu and Joe Wilcox's Awesome Start (not free but you may like to try these start menu replacements: Hilauncher and Panoramic Launchpad)
-Programs Tab: Check out this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=619253 and you will see that Cookies Home Tab is probably the way to go...
