Hello,
Im thinking about buying Universal, but i have some questions about it.
1.Where to buy it, i would like to get it in good shape/now, not some old cheese.
2.Has it any defects or easy brokening parts.? Warranty after buying via. internet is a pain.
3. I read somewere that there are some fake models avabile?
Is it real talk or some WomensInSaunaToldMe story?
Your best bet would either be eBay or the Marketplace. I think the latter is a better choice because you'll probably find it much cheaper with details.
Just looked, at the ebay.
I could get for 350$ from there.
Now i need some info abot the fake thing.
And one question more:
Is this mobile still sustainable (this may be wrong word ) or is there a hope for support in XDA nexr 2-3 years?
But yeah, Wallaby is much older
Do not hessitate on buying an Universal!
Is one of the best devices ever!!
Thanks to the Chefs and Devs here you´ll have Universal for a long time!

Haven't heard of this "fake" business you speak of but i'm pretty sure eBay is safe. I'm also sure you can get one for much cheaper than that.

Cheaper than the Ebay?
Where?I think 350usd for that kinda High-End device is pretty cheap.
All im worried about is, that maybe it doesn't fit into my pants pockets, because im only 12 and my pocket's arent very big.
edit: Orb3000 could you please fix the link. I like'd to read it.
Enter here and do a search with the word "Universal"
You´ll see many options:

Hi jaank.
On Ebay in the UK, Universals are selling for £100-£130. that is 1840-2390 Krooni (you live in Estonia, right?) You could probably get a better deal on this site in Marketplace.
If you are worried about the size for your pocket. A Uni is 130mm X 78mm X 23mm. Maximum. make up a cardboard one and try it out. that was what I did before I bought my Athena.
A Uni is pretty tough but so is school.(at least mine was) you need to be careful. You already have a Wizard so you know that. Best of luck. let us know how you get on.
Oh, cool answer
But, has Universal some weak spots?
Like the screen turning system or so?Im thinking about some other mobile, at the weekend.
Im in Middle schoool , so im pretty peaceful and im pretty peaceful at all, but im sportly active and so having second phone is pretty good idea I think.
And the point for buying Uni IS school.
Im a boy, so i sit at the back and our school has wifi.
And as you all know (I hope) is school pretty booring.
Thank you for the help, and sorry for my English.I started learning English in third grade and Im going to Six't grade so I'm not really experienced about english.
Thank you, and i love PayPal.
EDIT: Where did you see NEW uni for 2000eek. I talked to my parrents and it's have to be new
EDIT2:About future Is there some roms wiht the latest Manila as in the Touch Pro/Hd
SorryForDouble
Looking for the Cheapest NEW uni.
My old mobile battery is diening so needed fast.
Uni's can be bought cheap at the German eBay. Current prices are at about 100 Euro, I saw auctions finishing at 90 Euro. This is madness, for such a great device.
You need to search for "MDA PRO", as this is the name given by the German phone operator.
I actually own two of them, so that is a good sign on how much I like this phone!
Drawbacks: whilst driving, my phone holder does not allow the Universal to be placed such that the keyboard is accessible. This means, I can't type while driving (one shouldn't do that anyway). Also, Internet Explorer will render quite small fonts.
When I am driving, I do prefer the form factor of my VDA GPS (like a Motorola Q9).
Other than that, this phone is simply great.
No known issues.
You should consider:
- new battery
- screen protector
- proper car holder
Cheers,
vma
i got mine about a month ago. i got it off ebay germany, i paid 88eur for the universal g3, plus a 3200mah battery, a tomtom mkii sirf3 gps receiver and a docking station.
that was about the best 90eur i ever spent, although i didn't get a stylus, a case or a handsfree, which i thought, was standard accessories, the gps alone is priced at 75eur in germany
VMA:
- new battery- IDK, I'm scared about weight.
- screen protector- Shure
- proper car holder- Dont have a car so not needed.
If you buying MDA Pro than you can still flash it?
EDIT: Is MDA pro software in germany?
Hi,
With new battery I meant the fact that most MDA PRO's sold nowadays at eBay are over two years old, so you should not expect to much from the shipped battery. You certainly will need to purchase a new one soon to get a full day of heavy usage out of your device.
I agree that the extra capacity batteries increase the size and weight of the Universal beyond reasonable lilmits (for me at least), so I would stick with the normal sized batteries.
Basically I wanted to alert you that you should not spend *ALL* your money on the Universal - save some for an extra battery...
The German MDA PRO will in most cases come with a German falvour of WM5 and with a SIM lock.
You can, however, unlock the SIM by following the procedure of the Unlocker (search forum) and you can certainly flash a different ROM. I personally like Tomal's modified WM6.1 ROM's a lot.
The only remaining issues you will have with the German version of the Universal:
- MDA / T-Mobile logo on the inside, T-Mobile logo on the outside
- German keyboard: essentially you will have the "Y" and "Z" keys swapped - and no, you can't physically exchange the keys, because they have different size
I can live perfectly well with both issues and they don't affect the usability or the value of the device at all.
Cheers,
vma
Now it's about Ebay safety.
How to chose seller?
http://cgi.ebay.com/Brand-New-O2-XD...trkparms=65:12|66:2|39:1|72:1205|293:1|294:50
What do you think about that?
Check on marketplace first!
I saw yesterday a great Uni selling from a trustable member
There is always a risk involved in any internet related purchase...
At eBay you should look for:
- sellers with more than a minimu of 5 feedbacks
- sellers with 100% rating - in case of 99.x% rating, check what was the cause of the negative feedback (sometime's it is not the sellers fault)
- check what other products the seller has been selling
- pictures of the real device, not just standard marketing images
- ask the seller a question and see how long it takes him to respond - avoid sellers who dont respond
- avoid sellers accepting Western Union or similar payment forms
- don't relay totally on PayPAL - it is not that secure
- check shipping costs
- check taxes - specially in case of imports from other economic areas
If nothing is strange so far, nothing fishy, then you can take the risk.
Regarding the Marketplace here at XDA-DEVELOPERS: I have never purchased anything, but would do so from respected members. Check how long they are registered and how many postings they have. No crook would be wasting time with hundreds of posts over years just to sell you a broken Universal...
However, in case things go wrong and if you bought something from someone on the other side of the world, there is nothing much you can do.
That is the price you pay, for getting the device with a discount of aproximatly 50%.
Cheers,
vma

USD240 is absolutely fake.
here brand new HD in China is around 527USD. just for reference.
JohnQ is right, I bought mine for around $550 US in Shenzhen about a week ago, $240 is probably either used or a "shanzhai" phone (aka rip off look-a-like).
A note however, do look closely at what you are buying as there aren't any "official" HTC retailers here in China-- where HTC operates under it's Chinese subsidary, "Dopod". Most of the HTC phones in China are brought across the border either from Hong Kong or Taiwan.
I had the store clerk bring me five Touch HDs to try and I picked the best one and haggled with them until they threw in an extra battery.
If you'd rather be sure to get the real thing, I recommend you get it from Hong Kong; it's pretty cheap there too. In China, Dopod also has an identical device also called the Touch HD, however, the difference-- like between all Dopod phones and HTC phones-- is that the Dopod versions don't include Wifi and 3G. Gov't restrictions maybe? :S

HAHA , DOPOD announced HD early this year. you know how much they are selling in the beginning? RMB8288, As exactly the same with its model number T8288, DOPOD is crazy. DOPOD HD doesn't include WIFI/3G
Can get it with 3G and Wifi in China
It is possible to get the Touch HD in here in China with 3G and Wifi....If you buy a Dopod branded phone, it won't have either, but if you go to a mobile store and ask for "shui huo" you can get them. The "shui huo" versions of the phones are usually brought in from Europe then brought across the border (tax free). Don't let the sales staff trick you into paying more for them. These phones are cheaper than the Dopod branded ones and they are exactly the same phone (with more features enabled). As mentioned above, you also have to be aware of fakes, but if you take your time and check out multiple vendors, you should be ok....Always ask to try the phone before you buy it (ALWAYS).
Additionally, it will be extremely difficult to find one with a WWE rom. I usually come on here and flash a WWE rom as soon as I get my phone...Never had a problem...
China has some great deals and some great rip-offs...Just exercise some caution and you should be fine. Test the phone and make sure the Wifi and 3G options work and you should be fine.
newer high-end mobile phones are ALWAYS cheaper in the US/EU than in china. IN fact, everything that is "name brand" or high-end is more expensive in China. THe idea that China is cheaper than the west is just totally wrong these days, when I go back to the USA I stock up on clothes, electronics, etc. as the quality is certain, there are no spy programs or disabled features, and the price is much lower. If you want to buy cheap garbage, it will be cheaper in China, but for anything nice it is MUCH more expensive.

That's not necessarily true...
HTC is a Taiwanese company and they export their products to places all over the world. One of them is Hong Kong, and as we all know, there are no taxes, customs, tariffs, or whatever on imported products there. Thus, electronics are generally cheaper in Hong Kong than they are elsewhere. Also, due to the proximity of Hong Kong and Taiwan, shipping is also cheaper than to the Americas for example, thus further reducing the end-user cost (however this may just be a little bit). Therefore, many of the "shui huo" HTC products brought into China from places like Hong Kong actually end up being cheaper (even more if you haggle and perhaps they'll throw in some goodies too!) than they are elsewhere.
Hope that sheds some light upon this issue.
So now now... don't go around making imperatives like "everything" all the time... hehe
This thread is really helpin me out.
Anyone can point me where to get the best price in Hongkong. I'm particularly looking for HTC Touch Pro CDMA.

You could try Mong Kok/Wang Jiao Computer Centre; you can get some great deals if you haggle...
Check it out. It's near the Ladie's/Women's Market.

Hi. I'm from Moscow, Russia and I've got a problem with my future (i hope) HTC Topaz.
After analyzing our(Russian) market I've came to a conclusion that there are at least 2 types of this device:
1. From Taiwan, certified, with guarantee, with Russian windows mobile - i.e. official one - 497.2$
2. From China, NOT certified, there are NO guarantee, English windows, the only document which comes with this device is a cash-memo and user manual - that's all (as salesman told me). price - 396$
100$ difference is a big money in my case. English Windows is not a problem, 'cause there are lots of info on howto change firmware. as for the guarantee - all the stuff i bought earlier (notebooks, cameras) are working just fine, I've never been at the service center before - so i hope i won't need one in future.
The question is: how to determine that the device I'm going to buy (before actually buying it; I'll have nearly 10-20 min) is a real one and not a fake like e.g. "HTS tauch brilliant2" or "Pear iFone 5g", that inside it's absolutely identical to the certified one, that the hardware is the same and I'll be able to change firmware. One of the problems is i won't be able to insert Sim and make a call, test WiFi and etc, 'cause the phone is probably locked. Is there any way, any program that allows to display a list of hardware inside this PDA on its screen or on the screen of notebook. Or maybe there is a list of serial numbers somewhere and i can compare them to the one i'll see under the battery? Maybe someone has bought it for extremely low price and really satisfied with it?
Any ideas and opinions are appreciated!
Thnx!
Best regards, Rudbur.
$396 is fake diamond 2 - it is easy to figure out - just turn it on and you'll see for yourself. real greyimport diamond 2 costs now $500, but it will has no manufacturer warranty anyway, don't get yourself tricked... if you want warranty - buy legally imported PCT device.
Oh, fellow countryman! Thanks for the answer!
You probably know (price.ru) what stores i mean. So, let's assume this: I'm ordering two different HTCs: one for 400$ and one for 500$. I turn them on (simultaneously), and what should i expect when testing the fake one?
If there's no difference at all - same buttons, same size, same menu and etc (except language: russian and english), should i buy cheapest?
oh, and i heard or read somewhere that china shops offer real topaz for 333$. Or am i wrong?
The Chinese "copies" aren't actually the same at all.
The names are similar/identical, and they try to mimmick the physical appearance of a genuine device, but the software and internals are all different. Usually there a obvious differences like a lower resolution camera, room for dual SIM cards etc.
I've never seen one myself, but I would imagine once you switch it on you'll get default Windows Mobile with no HTC add-ons. I doubt they have gone to the trouble of faking an entire HTC ROM as well - but I might be wrong.
Hi,
I can testify here, as I have been living in China for a while, and buying phones from the grey market for a while too.
a few things to know:
Real fake chinese stuff will not even have HTC written on it. MTC or something like that. The plastic looks cheap, and it wouldn't even have winmo on it. I saw a "Nolia N95" the other day with the Sony Ericsson interface on it!
Then, in china, you got an official one for real cheap, but the brand is Dopodo, and they don't have wifi built-in. It's the real stuff, but for chinese market only.
At last, the grey market stuff, like mine which I paid the equivalent of 400USD has, I believe "fallen from the truck" in HK... So it got the HK Rom in it, ot Taiwanese, not so certain, as it was in CHS, and they use CHT in those regions.
So, briefly, chinese fake will be very, very easy to spot Hope that helps!
Thanks to you all, guys. I hope the shop I'm going to buy from will allow me to test these devices and save few bucks. I emailed them earlier, asking about guarantee, prices and so on, but they haven't answered yet.
kipue, your opinion is especially important, because you lived there, you know what's what. So I'll draw attention to the labels on it, camera, functioning of wifi, windows mobile menus and all.
After actually buying it I'll post a reply here.
Best regards, Rudbur.
Had been following the various happenings related to HD2... among other things ....
- The fact that Microsoft states that WP7 does not run on the machine when it actually has the horsepower to do so ....
- The fact that all HD2's out there had a hidden amount of RAM
- The probability that HD2's HAVE a TV-Out after all (chipset indeed supports it)
- The other not so pleasing fact that i got my Touch HD nicked a couple of weeks ago
All led me to buy another HD .... But I soon realised that I ran into a dilemma ....
I purchased (still on the way) .... an HD2 on T mobile UK but I ran into the assumption that T mobile US and UK supply the same specs on the HD2.....
As far as the Tmobile US is concerned - This HD2 , is:
- 122mm long (unlike the regular HD2 which is 120mm long)
- Has 1GB ROM
- Has 512 MB of RAM
- Has Headset included
- Has 16GB microSD included
- Has Gel Case included
On the other hand ... Tmobile UK has no specs whatsoever on the site ...it says however that
- it is 121mm long (which makes me hope that it is the 122mm version)
- Has limited several video streaming apps (can be easily rectified)
- 1Gb or 512MB ROM size (can it be unlocked on all HD2's like RAM?)
- 448MB or 512MB RAM size (can be rectified thanks to custom ROM)
- Has or has not a headset?
- Has or has not a MicroSD card?
- Has or Has not a leather pouch?
I understand that there might have been bundle upgrades as far as Tmobile UK is concerned but I would like to create this thread (with the help of this great community) to clear out any confusion for people out there seeking an HD2 .....
First of all I was unable to find whether or not the ROM size could unlocked in a similar fashion to how RAM size.... At this point I don't even know whether all T mobile HD2's come with 1GB of ROM ....
What's more is that now I realised that there is a T8585 HD2. I reckon that the T8585 version is the 120mm standard HD2 and a T9193 HD2 is the one which is slightly longer.... but yet again I got to confirm this.
So I am hereby inviting all T mobile US / UK HD2 owners to share their knowledge / experience
Many Thanks
The T-Mobile UK is the same as the euro models... it is a T8585. The T-Mo US model is the only one that's different size and has the 1gb ROM. All other models have 512mb. You cannot unlock more ROM. The T9193 is the australian version with different radio bands... other than that, it is the same size as the euro/UK models and has same RAM/ROM. Also, the T8585 and T9183 are 120.5mm to be exact, while the US model is 122mm.

But...
This would mean that ... if WP7 will use 1GB ROM, it would be impossible to place it on Euro HD2's. Am I correct in stating this?
Besides what proof is there that the ROM cannot be unlocked just like the RAM? What is that extra mm on the US version housing underneath the hood?

Cotulla found out the rom chip models used in the Euro and the US versions and they are different. The US models uses a 1gb chip, the euro/uk/aus models use a 512mb chip. Besides, if it could be unlocked, I'm sure they would have discovered it by now. Other than that, I don't think theres any dfference in the models, so I don't know why they made the US model bigger. Some say it was to fit the T-mobile logo, but that doesn't make much sense. But they are always making phone different sizes for different carriers and countries, even when the insides are the same. I remember there was like 3 different looking touchpros for different carriers.
Also, they are not making an official upgrade to wp7, but I'm sure the unofficial one will work on both the 512mb and 1gb models. I believe most developers on it are using 512mb models, so I wouldn't worry about that. I don't see the extra rom being a big deal. I would gladly trade my US hd2 for an austrlian T9193 model so I could use at&t's 3g service.
Thanks so far....

So Let me understand you right, just for clarity's sake:
T8585 - EURO Version - 120.5mm long / 512ROM / 576RAM
T9193 - AUSSIE Version - 120.5mm long/ 512ROM / 576RAM/Differing Radio bands
Txxxx - US Version - 122,, long / 1GB ROM / 576RAM / NO 3G?
I reckon that that 1mm extra is nothing but some form of identification to recognise the 1GB model straightaway. Is there a way to put an OS in a some High Speed Micro SD card and boot another OS from it? Cos that would solve the issue of small Rom chips....
I also was in doubt because there were some 'leaked' specs which showed the forthcoming T mobile UK with the 1GB ROM and the 512MB RAM and also the 16GB Sd Card
At this point it would be helpful if the Tmobile UK people, speak up a bit ...Would be helpful if you state whether its UK or US and WHEN you bought this mobile and what was bundled with it. Anyone from UK ?

Let me guess .... Colour of box was Green on the inside with a white sliding cover on the outside?
Also just for kicks ... could you tell us if they are T8585's and also specify the ROM and RAM size?
As I said earlier T mobile uk seems to be bundling the improved HD2 with the 1GB Rom and the 16GB SD Card ... clearly this isn't your version ... cos of the SD CARD that came with it ....
Some time before there were bundles coming out of T Mobile with no pocket / no stylus and no Sd Card as well... but this dates back to November 09 if I am not mistaken.
if thats the case then im taking mine back!
im having a problem determining which model i have? any ideas? been searching the last 10 mins with no luck
....

It needs to be confirmed as yet ... You'll have to wait for an official package description on T mob UK site before taking yours back....!
But if you take a quick look at T mobile uk's site ... you will instantly realise that as far as specs are concerned .... there is no ram or rom mentioned.....
This is because they "quietly but brilliantly" changing onto the 1GB Rom model ?
Mine is still in the mail so I cannot confirm with you as yet.... but will let you know as soon as I get it unlocked ....

Hi,
I've never heard of any service provider who has ever provided a stylus with the HD2. All the news we were hearing about the T-Mobile US release led me to believe that T-Mobile UK were delivering the standard european device and the US model was just for the US. T-Mobile UK don't seem to go into specification details on their web site but the device has the normal white european buttons so if there was additional internal storage that would mean yet another model (and T-Mobile make no reference to this fact). They certainly don't appear to state anything about "bundling the improved HD2..." They don't appear to me offering an SD card according to their UK site either.
ok....

Simple ... you got to go into the system information ... check how much ROM and how much RAM you have ....
Also if you tell us what came with it, and when you bought it, it would help as well....
Most probably its a T8585 as someone else kindly pointed out earlier on....

Erm if you see a previous post which I had up there .... I said exactly what you said ...
- T mobile specifications are very vague....
- They would not tell you if its improved or not because it would cause havoc for those customers who just acquired the phone ....
- Thirdly it is clear that the initial bundle came with NO Sd card, then they started putting in a 2 GB MicroSd .... now there is talk about this 16Gb version hitting the streets in due course...
Just wanted to confirm if this is true maybe through somebody who just got one .....
As far as the stylus is concerned you are right ... but it is available as an option from HTC ...
I haven't heard of T-mobile UK offering updated hd2s. The US T-mo does offer 3g, by the way, but on the 1700/2100 band, which isn't used by many other carriers except t-mo US. I mentioned the australian T9193 because it uses the same 850 band that at&t uses in the US, which has much better coverage than t-mobile US. Thats why I would prefer that model and at&t as a carrier... but it costs $800 to import one, compared to the $200 I paid for the T-Mo US HD2 with contract.
Anyways, for T-Mo UK to offer the 1gb rom hd2s, it would mean a completely new model for htc to make with the UK bands, so I see it unlikely they would do this for a phone thats been out for almost 6 months already. I think you will get a 512mb rom phone with T-Mo UK if they haven't stated otherwise. They would probably make a big deal if they were upgrading it and we would have heard about it.

Well that would be still good to know ... As long as WP7 still will run on 512MB I will be more than glad with the HD2
Anyways if anyone can recommend me a company which provides a factory unlock code via IMEI for T-Mo Uk HD2 it would be great if you p.m me. I've heard that I could do it for free through some existing T mobile client but I don't know anyone So thanks for clarifications

When they get a WP7 port working, I'm sure it will work with all the hd2s, as most of the good developers who would work on it will have the 512mb rom ones. The 1gb rom hd2s are limited to one country, while the rest of the world use 512mb roms.
Hello guys, I have pretty much decided to buy a Nexus One since it's the cheapest Android device with decent hardware. However I have a few questions:
1) When it says 'Unlocked', does that mean it'll work anywhere in the world? I don't live in the USA, also I don't care about Edge/3G as I'll be using Wifi most of the time.
2) Can a device come with a locked firmware (i.e Can't be rooted?), or all devices are rootable?
3) What's the difference between those two below. I prefer to buy directly from Amazon and not resellers. First link says it'll be in stock after 1-2 months, second one is available.
- www.amazon.com/HTC-Nexus-One-Smartphone-Touchscreen/dp/B0050OV01O
Hi bazzag,
i've bougth my nexus one two weeks ago from amazon.com and, as you, i don't live in the usa.
1)Unlocked means that you can use it with any sim and you are not locked to tmobile, vodafone or similar. I'm using mine in Italy and it works perfectly.
2)No, nexus one are all equal and rootable. (I recommend you to not unlock the bootloader and use the procedure for rooting without unlocking the bootloader posted on the wiki, so you don't lose your warranty ).
3)When i bought mine i had the same doubt I'm not sure but one (HTC Nexus One Unlocked GSM Smartphone with Android OS, 5MP Camera and Touchscreen - No Warranty - Brown
) seems to not have warranty, while the other should have it (Google Nexus One Unlocked Phone with Android--U.S. Warranty).
Hope i helped!
The difference is the second one has no warranty and is used. First one I am not sure whether it is used or new, but you will only be finding new units from third-party sellers (some sellers fulfilled through amazon). I do not believe amazon ever sold these new directly, as they were only available from google and some t-mobile stores.
Most of them are unlocked, but some of the carrier specific models are branded and locked to their networks. It's still possible to root and unlock these, but it might also be worth checking with the seller in an email if this is unlocked&unbranded or a carrier-specific model. There are also 2 versions of the phone, one with 3G on the 850/1900/2100 bands and one with 900/1700/2100. Regardless if you're going to use the data connection or not, if you want to take advantage of the better voice quality 3G brings you can check which bands your carriers of choice use.
The U.S. warranty requires you to send your phone to the states, and you should be aware of some hardware faults-the power button can fail due to a poorly designed connection, and 2 of the phones I and a friend have owned developed symptoms where the phone would go into a rebooting cycle when it got to a certain temperature. I would send an email to the seller you're buying the phone from and asking if the phone is used/refurbished/new and what their return policy is if you get a lemon.
That being said, I'm still using a replacement I got from HTC, and I don't have any idea what phone can replace it in the future. It's definitely one of the best android phones for the price.
Thanks for the replies so far.
Z4buz4, can you tell me which one of the links I posted did you buy? And from which 3rd party reseller? Would really appreciate it.
OJ, you can buy them directly from Amazon (On the right menu, choose Amazon when adding to cart). I doubt that Amazon sells used stuff, so I'm betting it's a new sealed device.
It's good to get more feedback though, shipping it back to the US would cost a fortune, so I need to make sure I'm getting a good one.
I've bougth the first one (the one with us warranty) directly from amazon and of course it was new. Mine is a SLCD one, if you wants to know it
ok all the ones on Amazon are new but they do not have a US warranty on them. Also they are all SLCD they and are for Canada. I bought 4 of them and returned all bc they are all Canada warranty. It is Video Tron in Canada that is what htc America said after i gave them my IEMI #..
Alright, looks like I'll be buying the one without the warranty, since I don't need it anyway. In case it was defective, shipping back to the US would cost me around $70! So yeah I'll be gambling here but I still want to get the phone.
I've got 2 more questions:
- I'll probably get one with SLCD. I know that AMOLED has more vibrant colors, however in reality how much difference are we talking about?
- Which decent and reasonably priced case and screen cover you guys recommend?
Thanks again.

1) My first Nexus was AMOLED which I thought was fine but after I recently purchased a new Nexus with SLCD. I notice the font are much smoother around the edge. I don't really care to much about the dark is darker. I care more about clarity in image and text when websurfing which is why I prefer SLCD.
2) As for case, I went with Seidio Innocase II. I had it the first time around and after I got another Nexus I bought it again. I am not using a screen protector because the case is difficult to slide with just a thin layer of plastic.

Second this. Have had this case on my N1 for over a year. Great protection, with hardly any extra bulk. (And I've never felt the need for a screen protector.)
if you want a brand new 100% go to expansys USA
does the one with the US warranty come with a microsd card?
mine just arrived today and I can't find one in the box

IHMO amoled and slcd are both very good. If you want to see the differences between them this is probably the best article you can find (htc desire and nexus one use the same screen):
http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/13/spot-the-difference-htc-desires-slcd-versus-amoled/
When i bought myne i also bought a screen cover and a silicone case. I've never use it I think that the best case is the one inside the box: it's a nice neopreme case (you can spot it on youtube if you search nexus one unboxing) with an android on it.
The screen is made of glass and it is scratch resistent (look at this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfqwKa4bT74).

It should be in the mobile... Open the cover and see if you can find it
nope.. I thought it should be in the phone too.. but nope
guess have to deal with customer service.. fortunate i bought from Amazon itself. shouldn't be a problem
ps. the slcd is indeed better in text but the amoled is better in color i think. (especially the dark color)
So all the phones off amazon are new?? And has anyone bought the one for 269$?

Yes they are new coming with everything. The price went up on those phones used to be $249
I am very interested in replacing my aging HTC Dream as well and have been looking at the nexus one. I'm on the rogers network in Canada though and apparently not all of them work on the rogers 3G network..? I was just curious if anyone knew if either of the two on amazon will work for me, thanks.
Nevermind, I looked into it more and neither of them look to be the AT&T version.
I was doing the same thing now that I need to switch to ATT
I emailed amazon customer service to ask him check the version of their inventory (through the FCC id)
he said he will email me back in 2-3 business days.
