Hi, i got huge problem with my N1
Yesterday night I'v plugged my phone to charging by PC USB cable (PC switched off) and went sleep. When I wake up first I sow blue color of charging led (should be green or red), when I unplugging my phone led is still blue (this led is blue even in bootloader and recovery). After that I realize my power button doesn't work and later about I can't playing any music from speaker But I can hear all notifications. When i try call someone i can't hear anything but in speaker mode yes
Anyone know what is going on?!
What mean that blue color?
Help!!!!
P.S. I did full wipe (data+cache+ext) and flash ROM again, no different.
To be honest i dont know. But from the sounds of it, blue LED may mean "something is wrong". Maybe you have some corupt NAND? Or a Southbridge issue..... Not entirely sure. (I dont even know if ARM based devices have a SB/NB).
Sorry i couldn't help. But best of luck with finding out more about the problem.....
did you try wipe everything and reflash new/same rom ?
i suggest you do a nandroid bakcup and try it

I personally think that isn't going to help(although should be done anyway), as changing the charging LED is fairly low level stuff (IE, it works without Android), so i think its hardware related and not so much software related (although software could have attributed to the issue)
So then this should be a no brainer.... call HTC

You should still call them, see if they know what's the problem. You might have to end up paying for the fix tho.

You shouldn't have to pay if it's a hardware problem.
Google and HTC have been really good with this warranty and rooting thing so ive heard. You should try calling them up anyway.

I got my blackstone yesterday. Excitedly opened it up, fiddled with it a while, and flashed a new rom. It was a while before i realised that the phone woudlnt vibrate. Im pretty sure its a hardware fault, but just wanted to check here to make sure I havent missed something.
The phone wont vibrate, even when being called / txted with vibrate mode on. I also understand the hardware buttons are sposed to have some kind of haptic feedback or minivibrate, but this doesent work either.
I searched through all the settings, and couldnt find any magical turn on vibrate feature buttton. Vibrate notification is definately turned on, and so is the vibrate profile. I inittialy installed Panoshas Black Pearl rom. I tried a hard reset, and then also flashed the Dutty rom, and finally the original rom to see if it that worked.
Can anyone point out an obvious mistake ive made? Or am I gonna have to send my lovely blackstone back?
Thnx in advance.
Hmmm...you've already tried flashing a new rom and if you still have the same problem, send it in. It's still spanking new, shouldn't be a problem getting it rectified....or better yet ....replaced!
Was it vibrating when you recieve it, on it's original ROM ?

thnx for your response, i think ill probably do that.
its pretty annoying to have to send it back already lol, but its worth it to have a working vibrate.
A Second Opinion
Yep, I got my Blackstone a week ago today and it vibrated just fine out the box. I have not flashed any new ROMs, but I have installed plenty of programs including .net 3.5 and mobilmagic button stuff and hd tweak, installed and uninstalled advanced config and a few keyboards, the list goes on. Long story short, my vibrate doesn't work either! I think this is due to my tampering with it though, I really do. Also, I saw another post where someone had the same problem, he ended up getting his to work after playing with .net 3.5, hard resetting more than once and soft resetting too. So try that, let me know what you find out! I plan to hard reset and flash new ROMs soon, so I figured maybe these problems would go away then. Oh and, anybody else have a problem where their end key doesn't end the call, ? This is such a tinkerer's toy, lol!
Probably a good warning about flashing ROMs! Did you backup your original ROM? I think you will need to restore your original ROM before you send it back for "repair". (Otherwise it is likely you will be charged for any work/replacement - justifiably!)
Before you despair, what ROM did you flash it with? Have you contacted the developer about it? It may be a setting in a tweak you don't know you've installed. Have you tried playing Tweeter (the vibration feedback when the ball collides with a wall will indicate a working/non-working vibrator).
Rather than just offer bad news to you and tell you it's your own fault, here is a helpful tut on How to backup ROM, albeit a little late maybe. It may not be all doom and gloom - some kind soul may be able to offer you their backup ROM (particular to your mobile provider) which you can use to restore it to factory default before testing for the vibrate and/or sending it back for a fix. Who is your provider and what original ROM do you need?

thanks for the tip. i fiddled with .net framework 3.5 and more hard resets, and altho i have installed hdtweak and advconfig a couple times, ive done multiple clean flashes without them and it still dont work. in fact - as i said above, im 90% sure it never did work, so im convinced its a hardware fault.
i hope yours wroks after a rom flash, but i think mine is gonna have to go back...

yeah - i definately played tweeter even before flashing any roms, and there was no vibrate - so i guess that proves it really is the hardware.
i bought my phone from mobilephonesdirect, but have my rom backed up, so should be ok.
ta for the offer tho.
Mine was the opposite, it wouldn't stop vibrating, even when switched off.
You had to take the battery out to get it to stop.

I appreciate that
yes I would love for you to keep me updated, I purchased mine through ebay from addictedtophones.com, which is out of California. They seemed like nice people but they sure aren't wanting to help my broken vibrate after only 8 days! That is just sad my friend. I have also contacted UK and US support and HTC global repair service. They have indicated that they are looking in to it. Apparently the US section may not have the resources to work on the device. I requested that they replace the phone, if they couldn't work on it ASAP, the person seemed to agree and put the request forward. I hope that helps your situation. I spent too much for a broken stone!

I received my new replacement Touch HD in the mail a little bit ago, it vibrates. It must have been a hardware issue best I can tell. I just about had to send it off to HTC, but I finally got the retailer to replace it. It actually took a lot of crap just to get HTC USA GLOBAL repair center to want to accept the idea but, I called UK HTC and they called HQ in Taiwan or somewhere and got something done. So if you need some help, Ive got a few contacts that can help, anyone can just let me know. I hope this doesn't become a widespread infection.

I'd say it's probably a hardware issue. My first HD also didn't vibrate, and had to exchange for a new one. Probably some issues with one of the batches.

Hi again guys. I dont know if i ralle can use the term bricked or not, but i guess so. After a funny day with a couple reboot and new "radio" image my Legend want start anymore. The screen is just black, even if i hold down vol down/up and power. So the big question.... Is this phone bricked? If so, can i fix it?
EDIT: The LED does not even respond when charger is plugged in.
Sorry for the lack of English.
if it is bricked - try this.
I dont even get to fastboot The phone is completely dead/black
Are you S-OFF? I've never known a S-ON Legend be completely bricked like that!
No i'm still S-ON because of the d*** HBOOT 1.01
Only thing i've done so far is root+CM7. And yesterday when i played around with ROM Manager i had to remove the battery upon a crash.
Apparently same problem as here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1096083

RomManager is maybe the source of your problems, what did you do with ?
Did you have errors during the radio installation process ? and which radio were you flashing ?
Here the story. I rooted my phone and switch to CM7 and notice that my GPS did not work with stock radio verision (dont remember wich) I upgraded to 7.08.35.21 and the GPS finally workt again with some minor interrups. Did some reading and decided to upgrade again to 7.13.35.05.
The installation went well untill the end. A picture was shown, a mailbox lookalike with an arrow pointing at a foolish looking droid dude. The only thing i could do was to remove the battery, after that the phone was dead.

Is it still under warranty? (Obviously not as you're rooted, but would it be if you weren't rooted?) If so, try sending it to HTC they might just replace it if they can't see for themselves that you're rooted!
If you says its a firmware update that caused the phone to not turn on they just JTAG it without checking, reflash the latest update (and sadly HBOOT) and send it back

They will send it back unfixed and say the warranty is void. Even if they know its rooted they might still fix it for you, it depends.
It's my fault that the phone is broken and i'm willing to take that blame A clean conscience makes me sleep better at night
I dont know how it is in the rest of the world, but in my country there is a high fee if they notice that the owner has done something with the firmware etc. Thanks anyway for all the respons and help, and remember guys, stay away from Rom manager
You only have to say that it said update available then when it restarted it did this.. If they say anythign after its been sent then just plead ignorance. Its not like they cant afford to repair one phone

well i'm going to say something like that. Generally because my phone was buggered before then (signal problems and locking into airplane mode) though i'm rooted i still wouldn;t think i'd get away with it

PM sent, I can fix hard bricked Legends with JTAG.
I've tried the Kindle Unbrick Utility, but it never found the device because it won't even turn on. Not a hint of a button glow, nor relief from the 20 second hard reset solution. I am currently trying the 15 minute hard reset, as I am left with no logical conclusions as far as I am concerned. Help me geniuses?
Are there any brave souls out there? I'm on the verge of giving up, so either tell me to suck it up and send it in, or give me constructive advice, please?

It was fully charged and plugged in to my computer when I first shut it down and attempted to turn it back on. I will leave it on the wall charger all night, and hope for the best in the morning. Good suggestion.
Still not turning on. I suppose I know what needs to happen next..
Make sure your using the correct charging cable. My wife had a similar issue with charging only and it turns out she was trying to charge using another cable. I noticed that the kindle fire charges at a different voltage than say her HTC Evo 4g. Same cable connection USB mini B but very different voltages for charging.
Next thing to try would be a factory cable and see if you can force it to boot into Fastboot. If it does recovery from there is possible.
It is on the factory charger now, but what do I try now? I've just tried the 20 second hard reset while on the factory charger, yet still no luck.
When its charging does the power button light up green or orange?

Well, I am unsure whether or not to make one of those. As long as the Kindle Fire doesn't turn on, nor does a green or orange light glow, I think I will ship it back (since it will be free and I have no money for investments right now). Yes, I've rooted it and also added TWRP to it, but since I've tried methods the people at Amazon would try (besides the factory cable), I'm rather certain it will not void the warranty, and a new one will sit comfortably in my hands.
Would any one else consider this question solved? (so I can change the status of the thread)
sound really like a hw failure - amazon don't look very close

I read on random forums, and the Amazon forum, that the shipping will be free as long as they can't fix it, meaning there are no obvious fixes (like a hardware failure), and they replace it with a brand new copy. I'm not sure that is the correct truth though.
as i have read from many others here - they simply send you a new one without looking very closely
many people got for a new one allthrough it would have been easy to fix
many with much minor problem as you have
and if a device is fixable and someone want to fix it i help them to do
but for me your device seems not fixable - as i said - i think hw failure
return it - go for a new one and don't worry !

Yeah! As I talked with the woman who worked for Amazon's customer service, she asked me to try the hard reset option, and plugging it in to a computer and the wall charger. As I knew, they would not prove to be successful attempts.
I was eager to fix the Kindle Fire, but now I'm excited for this new one to play with!
With any android rom fresh installed or not. Whenever the camera flash goes off or you try and use a flash light app the phone will restart itself. Im trying to figure out why this is happening if maybe its a defective part in the phone or maybe the battery is just not as strong as when I first got the phone? This as soon as the flash is triggered? Does it actually light up?
If it is on for some time and it gets hot - maybe..
You can check the battery contacts and make sure all three line up without any sticking out though I have not seen that problem cause a reboot.

Sounds almost like it creates a surge..
Does it also happen while the device is plugged in to a charger?
Assuming it is neither the battery nor the battery contacts I would suspect some hardware issue. Can't think of anything better at the moment. :'(

Agree its hardware, you can search on internet for the frame, flash light.its isnt hard to fix it but you need a litle skills, the frame contains a cable on the main board sow be carefull.

If the issue here is the light hardware of the HD2 you probably should stick with that, many phones do not have it and it's not a big problem. I also do few pictures with my HD2 and I can tell you this, without the flash the pictures are much better.
Even if you want to replace the flash light which cost 10 bucks, you can damage you phone and is not a good idea.
Last option which you miss is the Torch light it self.
Probably some Phone Center can do this job for you for few bucks but you should go to ask them how much they want to replace that part.
So Good Luck.
Hi com,
When i open my camera and switch to the video function a warning appears that says "Warning, Record failed" (its translated from german) and the camera app closes. "Normal camera" works fine. I can take pictures without some warning.
I would send it back to Samsung but the problem is, i've rooted the phone already.
I noticed, when i plug in my Beats, the camera still works. The cable of my beats have an microphone so i think the microphone of my handy is broken.
Sorry for my bad englisch btw ...

SOLUTION

For everone who has the same problem, i flashed a custom ROM (Omega ROM in my case) and now the video camera still works.
It was no hardware issue because if the camera works why the video camera shouldnt work? I thought that the microphone had an issue because when i pluged in earphones with an microphone it worked. But it wasnt the microphone because it still worked when i was on phone.
Every now and then the Camera Failed message pops up when I try to use. A restart usually fixes it but at times I need it quick and a restart just takes away from the whole moment.
I bought the insurance with the phone from AT&T. Do I call AT&T, the insurance company or Samsung itself for a replacement due to the camera issue? I have a feeling if I call AT&T, they'll direct me to insurance but I don't think this is a insurance issue. Thanks
