hey, my friend smashed his phone on accident somehow and needs a google voice invite badly.

send him one if you can. Thanks.
Google voice users cannot yet send invites. You will need to request one from Google.

Google Voice is tied to your gmail account, not your phone.
So the phone being smashed would have no effect whatsoever.
Is this a troll?
Your Google voice is not lost just because you smashed your phone. You could smash a million phones and still have your Google voice account. LOL teehee at this thread.
no no he needs a voice number to use as a phone to text people.

Yes, if he already HAD a voice number, having your phone smashed would do nothing.
It's like saying you lost your Gmail address because you lost your phone.
It makes no sense whatsoever.
I don't think you understand what Google Voice is? Or your friend never had a Google Voice number in the first place AT ALL?
Is this some sort of a bad troll?
I'm trying to not report this thread for being locked, not only because it looks like a troll, but because it's off topic anyway...
Thread closed, off-topic and irrelevant.

What's worse is that the "other" fully supported Google phone, the Nexus One, still has the Facebook contacts integration.

Jesus ever since the Nexus 4G came out this section has been flooded with Sprint people being assholes.
Maybe we should give them their own forum.

not necessarily Sprint people, but yes that seem to be a trend in the EVO section. BTW I thought I was going crazy when I could not sinc my FB contacts, Oh well will have to wait till CM merges the changes needed for the NS4G.
Like the other guy said wait for cm7 to get that intergration back.

You might have noticed I thanked your comment. It was because it is a perfect example of how to not follow the rules here. Thanks for that!
Facebook Integration
Google has removed the integration on it for now. When it is reinstated it will allow Google to have access to your friends profile pictures even when you do not have Facebook integrated on your phone. Google wanted to be able to have more open access to Facebook's information rather than only gaining that information when the phone was synced with Facebook. So when Facebook syncing resumes your Google contact list will pull you Facebook friend's profile pictures will be integrated with your google contact from then on. They are wanting to be able to keep all this information on hand so there is no need to re sync every time there is an update.
So this person called tocask about a phone imvselling on craigslist and after I try to text my sister whos phone it is. "There is a k** who wants to trade a phone for yours." Yeah it filtered k id when using voice to text. Seriously who thought kid was an offensive enough word to filter lol.

The voice to text is not perfect. deal with it like everyone else has, and maybe talk more clearly?

Finally someone that understood why I posted this. as to the others who say "deal with it" or "talk more clearly" try it yourself if your using the default. I and 3 other friends using 3 different android phones got the same response. then my sister on her Iphone got the same thing. no matter how you say it the word KID is blocked. again just thought it was funny and strange, figured i would share.
Just type it. I lol at ppl who talk into their phone. It looks so funny.

Right, you should most defiantly type the text response while your driving down Interstate 19 at 70+ mile per hour. No way should you use the voice to text option ever to reply to a text or for that mater any of the other benefits that it opens up on your phone.

Shouldn't be texting OR messaging while driving as it is. Talking into the phone is just as distracting as typing it in
Have you people honestly never heard of handsfree? My car has built in blutooth handsfree. I push a button on the steering wheel and talk. It does what I tell it. From send text to call sister to read email. Get with the times people. Its no different than speaking to a passenger and actually safer than changing the radio station or cd track.

Traded my old S3 for my Nexus 4 and want to contact Google to have the device registered to my Gmail account for support or other things like RMA's. I've tried calling 8003286081 and the operator states that the number is no longer in service. Is there another number/email I can try? It's definitely appreciated!
Thanks!

Is there a way to get rid of Samsung's TTS voice? It's robotic and sounds terrible. I miss having Google's TTS engine.

Can I just ask... what do you use the TTS for? I see it used in "Talkback" but that crap is useless.
Where else do you hear the voice... what programs use it... if you change the voice does that change the one in navigation also?

Yes, it gives you the option to use the Google voice instead of the Samsung voice in navigation. That's the main reason for me. The Samsung voice for navigation was driving me nuts.

Having to touch the screen to confirm sending a text message was my biggest gripe with Google Now. This is going to be awesome, especially paired with Touchless Control.
http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2013...conversational-voice-commands-just-like-siri/
That's awesome! It didn't bug me to much that I had to make one screen press to send a text, but I did find it odd that my sgs3 was able to send a text with a voice command... Though, it took me repeating the message 5 times for it get it right lol.
Moto X rocking 4.4
Finally getting close to the utility of Siri for handsfree use! If only it would read out the text before asking you to confirm it.

What did you ask it to confirm this? Do you do any of the OTAs? ( I realize this probably has nothing to do with it just checking)

Stupid comment, but I just realized (or maybe it only just got implemented) that you could spell out a word if it isn't picking it up right. My girlfriend's name is spelled weird, so I just took a shot in the dark...huh. Learn something new everyday.
Also, conversational voice commands paired with Touchless Control is amazing.

Oh wow, thanks for that! My girlfriend's name is Johana but the phone keeps telling me I have no Joanna in my contacts, I'll try the spelling out trick later. And I tried messing with the phonetic names option but it messed my contacts list. I put "Babe" as my girlfriend's phonetic name and it sent her in the B section of the list even though her name still read right.

I have several phonetic names set in my contacts. This is what I do:
1. Try a SMS or email command with the name pronounced correctly
2. See what Google Now searches for when I say that name
3. Set the phonetic name as whatever Google Now searches for
easy peasy
