Is there a way to get rid of Samsung's TTS voice? It's robotic and sounds terrible. I miss having Google's TTS engine.
Try this...

That worked for me. Thank you. The Samsung TTS is ridiculous. Whoever okay'd that should be fired.

Hated the phone sex voice too!! Thank you for this
Can I just ask... what do you use the TTS for? I see it used in "Talkback" but that crap is useless.
Where else do you hear the voice... what programs use it... if you change the voice does that change the one in navigation also?

Yes, it gives you the option to use the Google voice instead of the Samsung voice in navigation. That's the main reason for me. The Samsung voice for navigation was driving me nuts.

If you dl IRIS and use IVONA HQ you'll get good really high quality sound when IRIS replies. My phone is a british woman.

You have to have Pico TTS or an app of that nature and the Google Voice Search app.
To OP:
Siri is probably the most over rated feature in the history of phones.
This is funny

I said feature, not design.
When I read about Siri it seemed pretty cool, so I started playing around with what is built into the stock gingerbread android build. (Just hold the search button until the Speak prompt appears). It's actually pretty good. Not as conversational or integrated as Siri, but it works pretty well for sending voice texts and generally navigating the phone.
And yes, Iris is good for a laugh.

Check out Skyvi - https://market.android.com/details?...id=com.bluetornadosf.smartypants&rdot=1&pli=1.
it has a 4.3 rating. haven't tried it out myself yet tho. it incorporates Wolfram Alpha, which is what siri uses i think.
Maybe it's just me, but I don't want to/expect to talk to my phone like it's a person (and have it perform results I expect.)
Saying "weather" and having my phone take me to the weather makes infinitely more sense than asking it "Will I need to wear galoshes to work?"
Granted, some of the actions might need some natural language, and might be nice, but a lot of what I've seen from Siri demoed is just asking simple things in about as dumbass and roundabout a way as possible.
Jeannie is just as good.

Although Google search is faster you have to consider SiRi pulls up more resources and can do a little more. SiRI can open apps, play music from your phone, and use alternate resources other than Google to pull up even more information. I'm no pro iOS don't get me wrong. But if you're trying to declare a 'winner' you have to decide what the 'fight' is about. Is it about speed or features? Google wins in speed, but SiRi wins in functionality.

In my opinion, I prefer the simply mode that uses Google Search than Siri... When Google only says two sentences, Siri is teling you a story... I mean, it's tru that Google Search is faster, and this is what I'm looking forward to.

S voice that comes w the remics rom for the ns4g is cool as can be. It also opens apps, plays music, will search YouTube ect.... grant it, its still a little buggy, but what do you really want from a 2 yr old phone with completely modern software. Oranges over apples any day. I'm definitely a Google supporter all the way. Had an Iphoney, and that's it. Had.

Assistant on Play Store is already better than Siri, in my opinion.
The voices in my head are faster than both and I can change male/female and accents on the fly. I even have celebrity voices too. :screwy:
For you Beatles fans they can speak backwards, and like a snake for you Harry Potter fans.
Top that!

Have you guys ever read comments on a Apple centered blog? I've never read something more hilarious than stuff like that. They claim that Google copies everything that Apple does. They even think Google stole the "rectangular shape" from Apple.
If you feel like you could use some laughs just check out 9to5mac for example.
I look forward to reading comments about how Google's Voice search is shamelessly copied from Apple's Siri "Innovation". -.- Like Voice Recognition has never been used before Siri... xD

Siri is useless IMHO. Just a novelty piece. Apple users thinks it is the greatest thing since man discovered you could eat stuff off the floor.
