If you load up Google Maps and just tap the screen twice it zooms in the same as the video shows. Plus it will not zoom out using the pinch method. I think it is just recognising two presses on the screen and not any form of multitouch?
i will try it and see
Yeah its fake. Its just a double touch.
Sent from my X10i using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
it recognises the second finger as a second tap. no matter how hard you try you WILL touch it a fraction of a second later with the other finger. either that or when you swipe/pinch, it notices two consequtive movements but only registers them after eachother - double tap!
yes work for me
I try it works but only slightly touching the screen with two fingers! TRUE is not a joke! try like this and told me if it works for you too!
ONLY IN GOOGLE MAPS AND ONLY FOR ZOOM IN!! zoom out not work!!

can you guys help me out . am looking for the new Iphone's Picture Application which enlarges the picture using your fingers
That would probably be HTC Album - it uses one finger gestures to rotate, zoom & browse photos.
It's OK but I find the gestures for zoom to be too tricky, it normally rotates instead.
And unlike the iPhone, you can't use two fingers, just one touch at a time.
Cheers!
Oggy.
Could be s2v... Good little program, you should find it if you search for it.
Hai Everyone
Google Maps 5.0 update now available through android market
Check it out
is the 3d view only available in some cities? i can rotate my map but no 3d is available?
3d is only in some cities. L.a. for example. Though I can't figure out how to rotate or change the angle.

I can't find Google Maps in Market on froyo (regular, not rooted)... Any idea?
Seems like we got everything except rotate functionality.
@nolook: Check out Toronto for some 3D action, it's there.
@thunderpossuem: to change the angle place two fingers side by side on the screen and wipe down, repeat the same while wiping up to return to an overhead view.
I can't seem to rotate though which is a shame, still a great update.
Try as I might, I just can't make it work. Not that it really worries me. We don't have any of that 3d business over in Brisbane

I can't find in on a market too. Can somebody please publish the installer here.

your right toronto has 3d buildings...very cool...compass feature/offline browsing are also extremely useful features...
maybe rotate will be added or maybe the legend doesnt have that type of multitouch...
Rotate does work on the legend. tap on the "center on my location" button, and tap once more, the burton will change into a compass. There are two modes. One of them will rotate the map when you rotate your phone.

Not quite the same thing as actually rotating it with your fingers, now is it?
So no, from the point of multitouch, rotate isn't working.

I can get the 3D buildings in the applicable cities, but I can't change the angle while wiping down with two fingers. I didn't think that changing the angle was supported for the Legend. Is it actually working for you?

yes i can change the angle but it seems to have a limited range of motion...
wtf maps aren't even loading, not even on wifi.

I don't have change angle and I don't have the compass mode. It only centers on my location and thats it. I'm on Cyanogen mod maybe thats why.
Tilting now working after updating CM6.1 to the experimental kernel oO

Hi guyz, Do these features work only on froyo? My legend is still on 2.1 (as froyo update in not released here in Aus). I didn't find anything new in google maps 5. No 3d views of any cities, no tilt/rotate, no compass mode. Same old tiled-maps .
In UK looks like Cardiff, Birmingham & Leeds have 3d features.
In Brum I can see city centre in 3d, tilt & rotate with compass all very smoothly.
Very Nice!
Lately I have been experiencing a multitouch problem in my xperia play.
I was playing a touchscreen game when the controls were lagging and would get stuck on the screen. I thought it was just the game but to make sure I downloaded this multitouch tester application.
I will explain to you what you should do to replicate the problem.
1. Touch the screen with a finger (Finger A)
2. While keeping Finger A on the screen touch the screen with another finger (Finger B)
3. Do not remove finger A while tapping the screen with Finger B
4. The colors of the dots that indicate the fingers on the screen should change for Finger B after many taps with finger B the application will crash.
What is happening is that every time you remove then press Finger B while keeping Finger A pressed it thinks it is a new touch point think you have 3 or more fingers.
If you use this application to test. You will see it is giving Finger B a different ID every time it touches. This application does not Force close but it starts finger B at ID 0 when it reaches the maximum.
I did a google search and found this information.
http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/browse_thread/thread/8b14591ead5608a0
^^ That is specific to the Xperia Play so you might want to read through it.
I may be able to get a video of it later.
You pointed me here from my keyboard problem. But my problem also occurs when I'm using just one hand. If I am just using my right thumb and press the delete key, it will sometimes register both the delete key and the button z. Same occurs for example with p and q.

but have you tried what I said about leaving 1 finger on at all times then tapping the screen with the other finger?
This can get very bad in racing games. You are holding the accelerator and tapping the brakes. Eventually the controls go crazy.
And 1 year later... I have exactly the same issue on my Sony Xperia U. After 3 taps of my second finger, multitouch didn't detect anymore my second finger.
My Xperia mini pro havn't this problem, this is very troublesome.

Lock and unlock the screen and it will sort it. Just do that every time it happens
The touch input in this device is so bad i have to use my stylus pen to browse webs(i can never touch the back page button on google chrome instead it touches the forward page button instead),close programs(touch the top of the screen and pulling it down never works), opening the charm bar(swiping my finger from the right of the screen to the left never works too).
I tried calibrating it by searching calibrate on the charm bar's search feature but they doesn't work as well.
Any way to fix this? Its getting so annoying because i can't use the touch screen feature at all because its not precise.

Make sure your navigation gestures start from the black bezel of the Vaio then onto the touchscreen. You can use the calibration tool, change pen and touch settings, and change double clicking of objects to single tap to make the experience better. I'm not sure if the registry change to make touch more responsive for surface rt applies to your Intel tablet.
I'm with @vinscuzzy on this one... generally speaking I detest Sony products, but this sounds like a defective unit more than anything else. I'm not sure what you mean by "calibration doesn't work as well" (grammar, people: it conveys meaning). but if you can't fix this yourself, I would definitely suggest you take it back to wherever you got it.
When i use the calibration settings whenever i try to touch the cross it shows the input to be slightly on the right. i can't even close apps or use the multitasking. Closing tabs is hard or even clicking on links on google isn't accurate at all.
I bought this machine overseas and it isn't even out in my country so replacing it is too much of a hassle.
I almost considered it. But found there is a problem with the drivers, especially with Photoshop supposedly MS and Sony are using a specific driver but its not compatible with certain apps that use a different format of driver like Photoshop for touch.
The driver developers as far as I'm aware via googling don't seem interested in fixing this issue due to cost and/or it being niche market. Maybe try other software, I hope you don't have faulty system

Hi,
Did anyone tried the palm gesture to capture the screen. It is not Working fir me.

swipe SLOWWWWLY
First of all, have you turned it on?
And as Tew. said, swipe slowly, in one motion and dont use your whole hand, only a little bit of it.
This feature annoys me.. the only way I can get it to work is if my palm actually touches the screen, which accidentally scrolls or launches apps/buttons
