I still love my phone but wondered how many people have noticed the same issues as me, I am hoping for a new patch soon to fix these problem, some have been mentioned in other threads but this is my list.
Call volume is too low
Wifi does not awake properly
battery shows 100% usage when in sleep mode
Screen randomley activates while in call causing call to drop due to touch screen being pressed.
Slight Lag when using the dialler, you can hear the DTMF tones later then you press them.
Charging takes over 3 hours, longer using USB.
When on a call people complain of poor call quality, mostly using bluetooth
Videos on youtube etc out of sync
I would imagine these faults are on everyones phone i would be interested in hearing if anyone has any solutions? I am running 1.6
Also note that about 5 of the above issues could be caused by something using my phone when it shouldn't be, but I cannot find the culprit lol

About USB charge, its normal. USB is dont have the same parameters as charger plus as far i remember the USB on the front of a lot of cases dont give the same amount power as the ones at teh back of case. Im not sure how does it look at notebooks.
I didnt had any problems with Youtube, on 3G and on Wifi the videos was playing properly.
I have the same problems.
Battery is down pretty fast and Wifi sometimes looses connection.
Another problem is, that sometimes the phone is loosing connection to a phonecell and has to reconnect. So for a minute my phone isn't online anymore.

Yes i have had total loss of mobile network while driving along, even though I know the area is ok.
I share the following problems
Volume is too low (mainly call and podcats) and even more using bluetooth.
Battery is odwn pretty fast even when i'm doing nothing! But I have the phone for few days and didn't read all of teh tips about battery yet.
In the market app (and some other) I need to touch severel time the touch "search" or "enter" in order to validate, it often doen't work the first time.
I only experience the battery problem for the first few days. after a few full battery cycle. my x10 battery last about 48 hours with moderate WiFi browsing. push gmail and a lot of txting.

and yes I do think the volume ogvtje phone is below average. but I don't see the problem that others are having on this post.

I share your issues as well. The most annoying for me is the screen randomly activating during calls. Especially it seems when using the headset (posted this else where so im glad im not the only one). Also people I call complain that I sound echoy.
However, at least we have some confirmed updates coming our way as per the official X10 blog. But Q4?? Seems so far away.

I think you will find that is the screen protector causing the touch issues, it makes it hard to touch in the corners and can be fixed by removing it, although I have kept mine on
I would say most of the problems people are having is phone not going to sleep properly, once this is fixed the phone will be much better.

well what you are seeing is *digital* zoom, it basically using a smaller area of the sensor and enlarged it.
the camera might not be the best, but is much better than most smart phone
my problem with the x10 so far
-timescape not very smooth
-mediascape is pretty bad
-during a call the screen go on and off (even when using bluetooth)

Install advanced task killer and activate auto kill. then you can see really improvement of battery. The problems with battery are because of applications running in the back

I use task killer, that doesn't stop the sleep issue, something is working while the phone is in sleep and keeping the phone awake 100% of the time. i may try formatting the memory card as this seems to help some users.
I disabled the Location thing. the battery improved considerably. i guess it used the cell broadcast function when i had the wifi turned off. and it does that with the screen locked also, but you don't actually need it. so just disabled it.

I have a problem with wifi connection getting lose and switch to 3g while I know that my home wireless is super good and I didn't have problem before rooting...I heard there is a wifi patch somewhere but I couldn't find anything...anybody knows?
for the battery there is a thread here for setCPU software and how to add profiles, specially having the processor operating at less than 300MHz after 30% battery and when the screen is off helped my battery improvement supergreat at least when battery bellow 30% u will be sure that you are squeezing few extra hours just to use it to make phone calls...what I'm saying it did more than doubling the battery life for me worth trying
For wifi problem i might have figured out the problem when u go to setting > wireless control > wifi setting > then hit the bottom left button there is advance setting (that i never noticed before) where u can set wifi to sleep, feel free to set it to never...im gonna c if this gonna fix my problem

Everyone complains about low call volume, but I have never noticed it...the actual speaker, for like speaker phone is definately a little quiet at times though.
To the OP, if it says your phone is awake for a large percentage of the time, and you haven't been using it for that much time, then there's probably some app that's not allowing it to sleep. If you can figure out which one it is, it will increase your battery life.
One problem I've just noticed was that there is no way to create groups with contacts. Certainly not a serious issue, but it makes sending a mass text very annoying.
Sent from my X10a using Tapatalk
the call volume improved with the new firmware, wish the camera to be a bit better. I really hate the gmail app for not giving me a list of my email adresess. and yeah the loudspeaker could be a bit louder

No matter how much SE can piss me off, I have to say they did a good job with the last update R2BA020 .
I did fully charge my battery, did not use any task killer or such only kept adw launcher. With a normal use the battery last me a little over 48 hours I was at 10% when i devided to recharge it again.
-Around 2 hours of video
-4 hours of reading with Aldiko
-1 hours of internet
-Around 50 txt msg
-20 call 5-15 min each
-3 Pictures
-4 Hour of music while reading
-Email and weather widget run to update every hour
-Fancy widget running
-Bluetooth on all the time
-Gps and wifi was off all the time
Bottom line it’s impressive, now I really can enjoy my device without carrying a charger and searching for an outlet all the time .
I completely agree, the 020 firmware is fantastic. My usage differs slightly but even using Bluetooth to listen to Spotify all day didn't drain my battery. Neither did using my phone as a wireless 3G modem with Wifi tethering.
Well, yes, nice improvements but the WIFI is still using a lot of juice
wifi is confirmed using alot.
the phonebook is now kind of stupid...
when you click a person's name, their contact shows up, and when you tap their phone #...instead of calling that person directly it would bring you to the dialer screen with the # entered in and you need to press "call" to call the person...
i mean..if im in someones contact page and i tap their #..im pretty sure i want or need to call them....i really dont understand the point of bringing the dialer screen up again..pretty stupid on SE's part in my opinion
Well a quicker step would be to long hold their name and call them
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Well, I've rooted my device yesterday, started using it massively around 3 or 4 am to reconfigure everything and now its battery is at 8%:
throughout all the process wifi was used for internet (when needed, of course), 3g/gps/bluetooth turned off.
* Installed a lot of apps, some using barcode scanner, some using appbrain.
* Synced with google
* Restored a backup
* Reconfigured a lot of apps
* around 6 sms
* tweeted 2 or 3 times
* 5 to 10 calls 10m~ each
* listened to music through the day (around 2 hours of music, simple last fm scrobbler was used to cache the data, didn't scrobbled yet)
* read a pdf book around 1 hour
* some random usage through the day, like checking online stuff.
* Since I go to work using the subway, the signal reception is quite poor, so the phone prolly was searching for signal during the day.
Even wifi draining a lot of battery, the phone battery was quite good for everything that I've done today.
Apart from the battery the whole system feels better, all the UI customizations done by SE are faster (timescape, mediascape, dialer and so on).
I can say, like all of you, SE did a good job on this update. I can't wait for the Q3 2.1 release. Seriously, I want 720p video recording so much

has anyone noticed any difference in call quality - in call volume especially
this was the thing i looked forward to getting the most out of this upgrade but no much difference i notice, still can't hear very well in any outside environment
i hope this issue becomes resolved...
I usually use headphones while outdoors, so I can't help here. Indoors it's been quite good, at least for me.

Screen off while in call.
Not to start a new thread, I'll pin my question to this one. I've updated to R2BA020 (O2 Irl branded) and noticed that whenever in call the screen is not turning off, as it used to before. Did anyone else experienced this problem?

check your screen time out settings in the settings/ display/ screen timeout section.. it may be that it's reverted to a longer timeout period or to not time out at all.

Though overall battery usage seems to be better with R2BA020 (Rogers), I've run into an odd issue:
When tethering via PdaNet, my battery drains at an alarming rate. It dropped 20% in the past hour. This wasn't the case before I upgraded (was using stock Rogers firmware before) - it would drain, but much more slowly, going from 100% to maybe 55% over the course of the 8 hours I was at work tethered. It's almost as if it's not charging at all via USB (or is charging much more slowly than before).
I checked, and the phone does register as charging while tethered. So I'm not sure what exactly the issue is. Nothing else has changed.
-edit-
Turned off PdaNet during a meeting I had today just to make sure my X10 is charging properly via USB, and sure enough it is (gained 12% charge over the hour).
after updating into R2BA020, my sim tool kit and play now were gone. Now, I want them back (especially STK). Does anyone know how to do it? My X10 is not rooted yet.
I'm pretty happy with the new Facebook app. It got rid of the "Camera" icon on the mainscreen and replaced it with "Inbox", which makes so much more sense.
My ringtones got reset, and I noticed that Astro File Manager lost a few file associations. I'm prompted for all sorts of default apps etc now, but it's just a minor annoyance.
I did the update through the Sony Ericsson PC Software. The first boot after update took a very long time on the Rogers splash screen. I was afraid the device was bricked for a couple of minutes. I guess it was just the first boot, and the Xperia was restoring all my user data.
Does anyone have comparison between R2BA020 and R2BA023? appreciate if it includes benchmarking between them.

JK6 is what I have been looking for. Everything works in this build so far, the quadrant scores are not up to snuff yet, but the rom is snappy as hell. Still getting 60+ fps in Quake3. The issue about the call output not working when you call someone when connected to a headphone or tape adapter with no inline mic is gone. Like I said, when custom roms are built off this base, it will only get better. But if you were waiting for a great Froyo Rom, this is it.
Sorry wrong forum...
Like to to this as well. The battery life and signal strength on jk6 is excellent with out any tweaks. So far so good i feel with a few apk changes here and the there i could use this and wont feel like im missing anything as far as a smartphones goes. that being said i cant wait for tw, eugene or cm6 because this is a hobby
seems strange that when any of the developer starting to mess with the kernel, the battery life goes down. It happened with Cyanogen and it happened to Eugene as well. Anyone got any idea
Additionally, finally have true playlist support in the music player!
One downside is that the Option to enable/disable screen staying awake when connected to power is gone. It is permanently enabled.

I wasn't clear on that, when it is plugged in to the computer is stays on as it detects a USB connection. It's possible this only happens when usb debugging is enabled.
Plugged in to an AC adapter though display goes to sleep.
This ROM from the start seems MUCH more "snappier" than the JK2 Eugene put out.
But, I'm still on the fence regarding Battery Life on JK6 vs JK2.
I am testing, but I noticed From a full charge then unplugged overnight (7hours) with only Gmail+Contacts Synching, I went from 100-89% using JK6. When I was using JK2 I went from 100-98% overnight.
Some of the cause could have been from some of the additional bloatware I found running in "Services" on JK6 for me, under Application in Settings, like Slacker Radio, so I will compare again tonight.
On another note, I've also been comparing using Power Tutor, which isn't for Galaxy S phones at the moment, but it does give a lot more detail than the stock Battery Usage app. I found that with the screen off on JK6, there is only a 3-7mw drain. On JK2, that was more like 25mw.
With the screen on lowest brightness, (auto-brightness off). I saw around 400-425mw on both. It's interesting to note that the light sensor draws about 100mw, according to Power Tutor...
Again, all this is up for discussion, especially since Power Tutor is not optimized for the Galaxy S...

There are still issues with Wifi Calling - I don't know about the battery drain piece, which a lot of people complain about, but The ringer still only rings on the earpiece, and not the main speaker , where a normal call would ring from. This makes it easy to miss a call, unless you're using vibrate.
Has anyone tested if the battery drain is better on JK6 with WiFi Calling?
I've made about 90 minutes of wi-fi calls today and a moderate amount of use of the phone display doing some other non-CPU intensive things.
59% after 6 hours of use.
Wi-Fi calling, other than the problem with the ringing, is working pretty good for me.
Battery use is a little bit better than stock JI6. It's not mind-boggling better, bit it is better.
My screen does not stay on while charging. I wish I had an option to do so. When I'm driving around So Cal I like to keep Google Maps up with my current location so I can monitor traffic problems, and there's no way to keep it constantly up on the display, or at least I haven't figured out how to do it yet. If anyone knows, let me know. I wish we still had the option to stay awake while on a charger.
There have been some posts by people which suggest this may be the final ROM. I'm pretty sure it's not. It's got some bugs here and there which I wouldn't expect to see on a final build, even from Samsung/T-Mobile. Nothing earth shattering, but enough to keep this from being the final release. That having been said, if you're currently running stock JI6, I see no reason why you shouldn't migrate to JK6. It's a definite improvement.

Interesting, I guess I'm just an exception
I love this rom, however, there are two things bugging me:
1) There is a slight lag in the app drawer when swiping left and right.
2) In Contacts, when you click on a name to call someone, there used to be the option to Call/Message someone. Now when you click on a contact, their contact card comes up with a big 'Message' button. While nothing horrible, it can be annoying.
"My screen does not stay on while charging. I wish I had an option to do so. Have you used Screebl before? I can't live without it.
My screen goes off too. It's dang annoying because I like to keep it on while I'm sitting at my desk using my pc.
If we can figure out why it still stays on for some people, maybe we could hack it into our phones? Is it a setting stored in a property file or a database somewhere?
Well im having all the problems below :
1. Assistive light not working
2. Lagging in "click sound" when locking the

3. Cant load sd card most of the time

ICS in Note
After upgrading to ICS via kies,
Battery seems to drain very fast.
Camera hangs up sometimes and other camera related apps like Instagram also but maybe the pic quality is little better.
It seems to crash when some other apps runs too.
Not sure if it was there before but I can pause music and video if I show my palm on the screen.
The screen rotates faster than in GB with a pause at the beginning though.
News fonts are good.
Window animations are good but still dont' know how to stop it since it might be draining battery fast.
Can use Chrome now and it's fast.
I cannot use Mass Storage Mode. I recieve a "Ui stopped to work" error.
I am facing,
1. High android OS usage. Sometime its higher than Brightness, and most of the time its highest usage of batt after brightness. (I read somewhere, it said its calculation errors, but I think its not, cause my battery no longer last that long.)
2. Camera will sometimes fail to operate. I really dunno what is wrong with that.
3. Phone just cant go into deep slp. Its being kept awake by some apps (Which I cant narrow it) Using BetterBatteryStats, I found out its I2_HSIC. (Whats this I2_HSIC ??)
I am using a 5400mAh mugen batt. previously on GB, my usage can last me 24hrs, now it can only last 16hrs or less. I installed lesser apps, and lesser widgets. Disable account sync and google backup. Settings more or less kept the same.

I am on ICS, Taiwan, stock, not rooted.

As far as #2 goes, go to your battery stats and see if "media" is listed. If so, force close it and try again. Seems to work for me. I'm not sure if it is just me or not because I have been playing with settings lately, but the media scanner tends to run wild it seems (also seems to lend to battery drain).
I am just disappointed that they left out some of the nice features of ics like the updated gallery and camera. Seems kind of lazy to me and no wonder things arent working well if they are mix and matching gingerbread and ics rather than going all in and starting development from there. I would definitely go back to using one of the non tw ics roms if it weren't for the sod issues I was having...

I can't reproduce it regularly, but It think it has happened when going from an Application, back to the home screen using the home button.
I am on ICS, Taiwan, stock, not rooted.
Anybyody else seen this?

1. Poor battery.
2. Sync errors: calendar sync freezes up every once in a while
3. Brightness slider in notification bar gone, tasker can not effect change of brightness anymore, only choice is to keep automatic brightness on, otherwise blinded out in sun.
4. Contacts and phone apps show up in 5s or more to load: need to switch to those ugly dialers, no choice at all
5. No widgets menu in app drawer as in nexus ICS
6. Launchers freezing: tried both nova and apex: many a times the screen went blank for a few seconds after hitting home (didn't crash though)

Cupcake FTW!
I updated my ONE to 4.2.2 around 3 days ago. Needless to say its a pretty cool and major update. Still some observations..
Mentioned in Update Changelog
DayDream
Improved menu button
Notification Bar
Quick settings
AE|AF lock
Back buton = start of Blinkfeed
Some of the good stuff which wasnt mentioned in the log
Gallery has removed the extra step to go to events, albums etc
App drawer animation is waaay smoother
Dynamic contrast now doesnt flicker the screen [I think]
If you have multiple types of numbers stored for a contact, it comes up in small just above the message from the type the message has come
Some of the Issues I found
Normal mode in camera produces a blue tinge in the view finder
BoomSound volume is a little lesser
Power saving mode has degraded. Or maybe the brightness level has been increased. Something has changed in that
One more - I got Wechat preinstalled after this update!
Any of you facing any issues?
I saw nothing wrong with the camera.
But i hav one priblem since 4.1.2 the keyboard flicker sometime, does anybody hav this also??

Can someone who has 4.2.2 comment as to whether there is still a waiting period when sending group messages? What I mean is that when you send a group mms message, there is a small popup with a blue circle that says "Please wait..." Is that still the case? Thanks.
I can confirm too that boomsound sounds a little lesser. and the camera I tested In a bright sunny day, in the screen is something (better I think) and them the picture taken is a little warmer.
The sky quality even in sunny day have a very bad quality. its like 8bit blue color.
my sound isnt as loud anymore and i think my battery got worse, i get 1 hour less screen time -_-
Sound is down for sure but my guess is that some people blew their speakers with very loud files I assume this is a "fix"
Power saver mode doesn't work after update.... Seriously need to fix it soon

Yeah proximity issue. Once a call starts, suddenly the screen would go black and I have to toggle the power button to turn it on. And when you do that, it wont turn off i.e the proximity wont work.
I have no issues with the camera, seems very good still to me...I get the proximity issue though it seems intermittent, I don't really use the speakers to be fair so not sure about the difference there. They still kick the crap out of any other phone I've heard so can't complain! I also think my battery isn't as good as it was though I'm getting there with it. Think the settings are just a little different. I did notice that there seem to be two auto-brightness settings by default if you tap the brightness in quick settings there is a bright and a dim auto-brightness by the looks of it to me.....might be wrong (and I dont mean powersaver auto-brightness, that is lower again!)
Since the 4.2.2 update, my wifi takes between 2-4 attempts before it successfully connects to my d-link router, i also have an Huawei router and it`s the same, before the update it only took one attempt
Also the new drop down setting list, wifi, bluetooth ect. where is the GPS one.
John.
Videos didnt work after update
I have videos downloaded in my videos folder wich were running fine before ota 4.2.2 update. but after update video extension were not supported anymore.
i am running htc stock videoplayer only
Battery... battery took a hit, and not a small one.
I'd say 20% is just gone... and "Kernel (Android OS)" looks to be the bad guy who's ****ing things up.
battery life has gone down
Worth noting that I had massive wakelocks from 7 Digital so disabled that and my battery seems better already.....

Mine went down for the first couple of days but now seems to have settled down and if anything is slightly better.
Seems the battery needs to recalibrate over a few charge cycles.
15% and 100% battery level notification sound, wish i could disable it

Anyone?
Also i think it takes more time to charge now..
As people mentioned, battery might need 3-4 cycles to recalibrate...
And yes dynamic contrast flickering has stopped. Screen doesn't into an infinite loop trying to adjust the brightness on a white background screen. Need more confirmation though..

Battery is horrible, I got my update about a week ago and no improvements. In fact, after first charge since 4.2.2 battery was EXCELLENT. But since then, it's awful. Power saving mode is not working, I had it on all the time because phone would overheat in these temperatures. (40+ degrees).
I am seriously thinking about rooting my phone and installing Paranoid Android on it, I love Sense but 4.2.2 just made the phone worse in my opinion
The only thing that's keeping me from moving it's the boom sound + beats audio.
So, this is my first day with this phone, but I have already discovered a lot of things. I will keep this thread updated, though, as I discover more of it on my journey to enlightenment.
Also bear in mind that just before this, I was the owner of an LG G2, so some of the things will be more of a comparison on the user friendliness LG offers.
Key features
Size: At least for me, this is the sweet spot. “Once you go Compact, you’ll never go back.”
Glass: Feeling. It’s a smooth surface. You’ll want to be able to embrace it all you can all day.
Border: Grip usefulness. If you hold your smart phone from its borders, it’ll be a sure bet it’d never let go of you.
Microphone: The other end of the call hears what it’s said so clearly, it’s scary. Once it sounded as if the person was on the ring.
Camera: Have yet to try under low-light conditions, but at noon, this camera shined. I was complimented at wok for its effective resolution.
Middle ground
Buttons layout: Hardware and software buttons. I don’t know you, but I think this phone was made for left handed. Whenever I use my right hand, I don’t know, I feel my thump is all cramped in there trying to change volume, while if I use my left hand, oh, boy, it all feels natural, and no more cramping. The good side of this is I’ve learned to use my left hand more. Definitely the best uni-hand setup is that of the LG G2. With buttons behind the phone, both hands are equally free to work with them.
Front speakers: Sound is loud, but I found it to be muffled. I can only guess it’s due to its water/dust proof nature. To be honest, I never use the phone’s own speakers that much. Almost never on any phone I’ve owned so far.
Applications: I totally hate it they have bundled some of the worst widgets/applications I’ve seen, ever. “What’s New”... really? Yet, there are some useful or nice one, at least to me: Album, Walkman, PlayStation, and others.
Disadvantages
Glass: Coating is awful. I once a long time ago thought the my HTC Desire was the King of smudges and fingerprints. Guess what? We got a new champion...! Seriously, I’m thankful I bought the White version, which makes the back of the phone appear as clear as it could be, while only the front suffers totally from it. In just five minutes of constant usage (like in a game, or scrolling and archiving Tweets), the front glass was kinda “oily”, and you could see smudges everywhere. Also you know what? It’s slippery has hell. Never, ever, before, have I encountered a surface as slipper as these glasses. Words cannot describe how much that is.
LED Flash: It’s the worst. As for hardware, the darn thing “bleeds” light before it even leaves the case of the phone. I mean, Sony, seriously? This is totally unacceptable. I’m even thinking on returning it if only because of this. I tried the Flashlight notification widget, and the Torch application itself: total disaster. They are so dim, it looks as if they didn’t want us to use the “phone” as a flashlight. Yet, I discovered, the LED Flash can go even brighter. I noticed it while taking a picture in low-light conditions.
System navigation bar: No way to change it, even with some default presets. The LG G2 had this. For example I don’t use the Recents button much, but I do A LOT “switch back to previous application” option back on my HTC Desire with an application that would let me set such things up, like behavior when long pressing such buttons as well.
Permanent notifications: For some reason, some applications like Lifelog and My Data Manager create a kind of immortal notification on the Notifications Bar.
I’m pretty tired at the moment. I’ll try to update tomorrow morning with what’s missing or to try to answer other questions. Feel free to comment your own while I do so.
We're in the same boat bud.... Coming from a lg g2 to a white z3 compact. Feeling about the same too. I really would like to know your take on the battery life as this is one of the main reasons for me to switch. But it's still early so take your time and let us know.
Well, the LG G2 was a battery power house on its own. I made it to 72 hours once, but using only LTE and stock AT&T ROM. Wi-Fi disabled.
I’ll report back this weekend when I reach 1%.
Wow! Mine never reached 50 hours.
Buttons
I got my compact about a month ago, I love it
The only annoyance I see is the location of the buttons on the right side, when holding the phone during a call my fingers struggle to find a spot to hold the phone.
I think they should move the power and volume buttons further up

Alright, just reached 1% this morning. Check the attached images for details.
So, details of my analysis:
I didn’t use STAMINA mode. I will do so on my next testing session.
Most connectivity services were enabled all the time: NFC, mobile data and Wi-Fi. Also my preferred data option was LTE first, so take that into account as well. Bluetooth was disabled. I had the Location-based Wi-Fi option, so Wi-Fi would turn off if I wasn’t near any of my saved Wi-Fi locations. I think this is one of those smart options. I like it.
Looks like Facebook applications, it seems no matter which one, don’t do smart push notifications. It is ALWAYS using background data checking. I’ll be sure to disable Facebook on STAMINA mode next time. I use WhatsApp, but WhatsApp looks like it knows how to properly work with Push Notifications. That is, it’s not a battery drainer.
Kind of the same thing for the Swarm application.
Some applications consume data and hence battery only because of some “active” widgets I got on my home screens, like Walkman. I will profile and optimize them accordingly. I pretty much left all the widgets there from stock start up. Only deleted What’s New widget.
You see that the screen is what took most of the battery, yet I find it strange it doesn’t really indicate the applications I was using precisely. I mean, of course the screen was needed so I could see the applications, but I find it weird that, for example, I navigated through the Facebook application for like an hour, yet neither the video watching nor scrolling seemed to have taken a battery hit according to the Battery usage diagnostics. I need to dig deeper.
I did some gaming, but it was a lightweight game, Bubble Blast 2. I will try some more serious gaming later on. I’m setting up my old MyBoy! GBA emulator like I had it on my previous phone. It’s just that I live in another city from before, and now the commuting time is shorter, which was mostly the time when I used it.
Alright, that’s it for battery report.
I will sit down this weekend and try to truly optimize my work flow this time, so next tests are, as much as they can be, more accurate.
I’d wish more people commented. I’m truly offended no reviewers ANYWHERE I’ve read (outside these forums, I mean) have commented on things like the bleeding LED flash, the REAL slippery status of the glass (where they have mentioned it, they make it sound as a minor thing, and that it is NOT) and stuff like that.
Thanks!
No, THANK YOU! A very good and detailed review on battery life. I will keep checking in here to follow your findings. Thanks again.
Hello back.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t quite finish my whole homework. It’s been 2 days, 7 hours of battery running (29% left), I’ll admit most of it the device has been idle, so:
I didn’t fully optimize my workflow.
Haven’t reached 1% yet.
Still, I wanted to report some things I’ve noticed:
Wi-Fi drains your battery like hell. Even with the location-based settings, forget it. It’s better to enable it only for application updates or when you need to download something big. Leave even the weather updates to your mobile network.
Can’t tell for real if 4G (HSPA+)consumes less battery than LTE, to be honest. I’m always on LTE, and it is awesome.
Enable Ultra-STAMINA mode when you go to sleep. It’s a huge saver, and seriously, if you want to sleep, disable interruptions. Probably its activation can be automated with something like IFTTT or Tasker to be enabled at midnight.
Not exactly sure if the Extended standby option of the normal STAMINA mode actually works. Supposedly it disables Mobile and Wi-Fi networks when the screen is off, but whenever I turn it on, the network icons are there immediately, like they’ve never been disabled. At least Wi-Fi icon should take a second or two to appear, instead of being immediately there.
Disabled Lifelog, which was taking a lot of battery after the Screen.
Alright, that’s it for now. Let’s keep walking the path.
On my Z3c the WiFi doesn't drain the battery.. Odd. For the disabling / enabling it's super fast because of the integration of the chip
For example my SBH-80 connects in one second top or even less when my s4 needs 4 or 5 seconds to do the same. Even on the Z Ultra it takes up to 2 seconds.

Hmm... well, to me, compared to having Mobile data enabled, Wi-Fi drains the battery more.
Nice to know about the instant connection. My package also came with an SBH20. Gotta try what you said.
Thanks.

What, you got a SBH-20 (FYI mab71 it's a Bluetooth Handset ) IN your package ? In the french package the isn't even a pair of Sony MH-750 for the headset, it's just a old pair of headphone that came from '90
It's odd about the WiFi / LTE Because the LTE is known to drain more battery than WiFi in most situation. Do you have a good WiFi signal ? Maybe you could try to change the canal on your modem to optimize your signal, if it become stronger it would be better for the phone and then not pumping too much. But 2-3% a night is not so much anyway

****! Mine is the old 90s one
I've also come from the g2.had the z3c for over a month now and I do miss a few things. The g2 screen was simply awesome and the led flash light was blinding. The battery is better for me on the z3c, I always have stamina turned on. Unplug at 7 am and by midnight I can still be at 85%. That's with just a bit of usage though. It's also better when I really hammer the battery too (ingress)

For instance, in the Italian Package, there is a MH-750 headset AND a and OTG cable. I'm not jocking at all, I was astonished when i saw this, especially when the price is lower than for the French people !
I've received today the MDR-NC31EM, it's worth the money, really (30-35 bucks)
Yeah, it might be the signal is bad (although it appears full), but in all instances I’ve witnessed, Wi-Fi drains more battery than my LTE.
Going back to STAMINA, I find its behavior unreliable. I enabled the Extended standby, and I made sure to exclude Facebook from the White listed applications to use background data connection, yet I still keep getting notifications from it. Also on the Developer options, in Process Stats, Facebook keeps getting a 100% runtime, mostly from its MqttPushService service.
I think I will still keep STAMINA on all the time, but I find it weird. I will search these forums for other people’s experience with it, otherwise it’d be wise to create a new Thread just to research into this.
By the way, Greg2Lu, no, the SBH-20 didn’t come IN the package. I bought my phone from my country’s online Sony Store. I paid more than USA price for it, but I thought it was normal imports system ripping me off, which isn’t unusual in my country, but I wanted the phone anyways (and the warranty, should I need it and receive it). What happened was that I received three packages with my purchase: Sony Xperia Z3 Compact (White), an SBH-20 headset, and a 5000 mAh CycleEnergy portable charger. The attached invoice mentioned the correct prices for each item. I would have preferred if they had simply sold me the phone for what it was, instead of bundling me with stuff I didn’t need and making me pay for it. The phone box DID come with a set of MH410c, though, but I bet they are crap, and I already got a good headset anyways.

No, I don’t want to disable background data checking forever, that’s why I set specific rules for STAMINA (only when screen is off), problem is somehow Facebook applications seem to skip that.

I see what you mean. I found another way to disable it through Settings -> Personalization -> Manage notifications.
And yes, it is definitely not an upgrade. I traded screen resolution for more battery (or at least a longer lasting phone), but boy, I couldn’t be happier. A day of full usage, chatting and video and stuff, 18 hours. That’s awesome.
I’m gonna be keeping this baby for a long time.
