which is the most stable for everyday use right now? also what happened to this tattoo build for us on qvga, i don't see it anywhere?
If you want something truly stable and fast, use the standard Ion build. Other than that, most of the Ion/Cupcake builds are very good for use. Such as the xRom builds or something like that.
The tatoo/hero/pulse/etc. builds are in the works and are not really stable. The ones which are "stable" usually run kind of slow on our hardware. Even though they are definitely cool and look awesome. They aren't really practical for everyday use imo.

I'm using the motor build at 240 x 320 & 110 lcd density... very nice. A few hiccups but this looks like my fav build so far. Once you get to homescreen let it settle down for a bit and it works well. Gps, native camera.... need to figure out how to fine-tune this puppy
none of these builds are functional enough for me to use everyday, im soo disappointed. that and now i can't buy the hero until next year because of $$ issues. im stuck with the damn vogue and winmo hell.
edit: i also didn't mean any disrespect to any of the devs on here either, you guys have done a great job. it's just been a bad day for me and i can never get any of these builds to run right on my vogue like some of you do.

I've been using xROM 1.5 for about 2 months with no issues what so ever. Why is it not functional enough for you to use? Everything works except bluetooth.

Any of the Ion builds are great for use everyday. All you lack is bluetooth and MMS but Android makes up for that with its other benefits. Ion is perfectly stable and fast.
right now im running zens xrom and it seems to be pretty stable soo far. ill give it a go this weekend.
couple questions.... can we take a screenshot at all yet? also is there a way to remove the clock from the taskbar? i find it stupid to have a clock on the taskbar and then a clock widget on the home screen.

I would recommend using SPB Mobile shell 3.1 or 3.5 and then adding the Revolution theme. It's a rip off of the Hero UI and SPB Mobile shell is the MOST stable Today plugin that I have used to date.
They made it over in France so use this link to translate for you.
Sence le Revolution
You have root access through su. And to take a pic you can use the debugger in the sdk.
And hero runs sense ui just fine so no need to fake it.

i think you need to just use windows mobile my friend. i've seen you bash and complain about this project enought times even on ppcgeeks. you never provide any usefull info besides what doesnt work. i use nfsfans latest winmo rom it's real nice but not prefect but i dont go creating my own thread just to complain about it

What about the ion build? That's every day usable in my eyes. And I've had problems with Windows mobile locking up and missing calls even on a stock Rom/radio...but to me I see more complaints from you than anyone else. I know things aren't prefect but users of other HTC windows phones would love to be able to run android as well as vogue/kaiser.
Will the EVO 4G hardware be close enough to the HD2 for it to help the Android on HTC project to put Android on the HD2? Any thoughts?

An interesting concept, there are those that are asking if Windows Phone7 is going to work with the HTC HD2 as well. Be nice if we could choose either. The HD2 is a lovely piece of kit.
when is the evo actually out? nobody got a whiff of a leaked rom?
got an hd2 myself, would love to get android

Joke you did get, much funny it was.
Complete my goal is
May the force be with you
I'm not so sure about this....
With the Evo not coming to UK waters and no other screen size planned this side of the pond the ROM on the HD2 may well be the only answer.
However, lets not forget.. the Evo has a lot inside which will be different to the HD2 and these short comings won't make the HD2 an Evo in disguise.
It may end up being a sheep in wolf's clothing.
I don't think you'll see it because of driver issues but if enough people want it anything is possible.

Tell that to Winterboard and AndroidLock. But yes, theming isn't supported natively.
However the iPhone port of Android is an actual native port, loaded using OpeniBoot, a custom "iBoot"-style bootloader. And you thought the HTCSPL system was tricky...

Belated, but May the Fourth be with you.
I find it quite unlikely. Developers are still trying to get Android EMULATED, not installed, on the Touch Pro, and that version still suffers from poor battery life and frequent errors.
You can't just drag and drop ROMS from completely different operating systems onto different phones; otherwise, all phones would be sold without an OS installed.
The two phones may be similar in regards to features, but the insides are completely different. For example, the Evo has a maXTouch sensor, while the HD2 does not. So, while you may be able to get Android emulated on the HD2, it doesn't look like it's going to be very possible to transform it into an Evo by giving it the latter's ROM.

First post and you're coming in showing a picture of android running on the HD2???
Hope this is for real as I kind of miss android from my G1, but I can almost hear all the flaming coming your way now!
all i gotta say is nothing is impossible and i will never give up i wiped the phone of windows and htc sense for windows then refreshed the boot loader with the android evo kernel as well htc sense for android and now trying to configure the os and sense to the hardware, i found this much easier with the t-mobile version since it has more rom to fit more coding, *big smile*

good luck and keep us posted!
well i hope that this is for real, and I'd definitely join the donation bandwagon if we get a working android port for the HD2.
I just must say I'd be surprised if you were able to get it running so easily based off the evo 4G. There are a lot of brilliant minds on here that have been working on getting android to the hd2 that haven't been able to do it yet. Maybe a video would help show us what you've got so far?

Sh*t bag.... or bag full of sh*t...
well,
was just thinking about it. is that possible ? i mean is g2 is capable of running win7 on it ? it would be a good test no ?
No source code = not likely.
Means bad news!?
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
seems like an interesting idea. ive been asking about getting the win7phone keyboard onto the g2 but having the entire OS seems like a cool option to have.
if we had the source code could it be possible?
I ran xdandroid on my touch pro 2 via sd of course. Liked android so much I bought the G2. I know if I wanted WM7, I would just go buy it. Its cool and all to have dual os on your phone but it can be a pain sometimes. Not everything works on port and if it does, its not 100%.

The big difference there, though, is that Android has publicly-available source code. WM7 doesn't.

co-sign.. but im not sure on buying a WP7 device (they are nice tho).. reason is, i want a primary Android phone.

So you bought an android phone to use winmo 7...
I doubt it unless someone wants to spend a lot of free time reverse enginggering the whole OS. Plus it'll be buggy as ****, most drivers won't work, etc, etc.

On a side note, how about Meego on an Android phone? Isn't that open-source? Any group working on porting that to any non-supported devices?

Close to impossible is still possible
This question seems to get asked for every phone and the answer is always the same. It is possible to flash [android/windows mobile 7/windows mobile 5/ios/meego] on an [android/windows mobile 7/windows mobile 5/ios/meego] phone. The thing necessary is someone or group of someones with the technical wherewithal and desire to do it. In most cases there is not enough benefit for such a group to form though.
So yes it is possible (though difficult) to create a ROM for <insert embedded OS of choice> to run on the G2 but it probably will not happen. And when you get a new device and wonder this question again refer to the answer above.
can anybody port the 3.0 honeycomb version to our beloved Hero?

That is correct, but strangely all the backlighting of the buttons etc worked out of the box, buttons it is easy to fix if you want.
Just a little test for fun nothing else, also saw that there was support for mdpi so theoretically it could be working on Hero with some manual intervention.
Another thing to, boot up without problems

Yes but hardly anything is working! Even the Nexus one has no audio, wifi, bluetooth, calls!
Yes, it is foolish to ask for a ROM that's meant to run on tablets to be made for phones. But I never have never said and never will say no to a new ROM...
Sent from my Hero using XDA App
Yes it's going to run like ass and our screens won't do any good either.
But... as always, I'm eager to see what crazy stuff the ROM-people come up with.
but the sdk version includes some feature of switching from tablet to mobile mode by simply changing resolution... they won't have included it if it wasn't meant to be run on mobiles, and in 3.1, mobile (2.x) and tablet (3.0) development lines shall be joined (says wikipedia lol). moreover, lots of people out here said it would be impossible to run 2.2 and 2.3 on hero, and right now i'm looking at my rooted android 2.3 hero which is incredibly smooth and stable (way better than with stock os). so why shouldn't it be possible? ele just said even backlight of the buttons worked out of the box, which was not case in 2.x. i'm still believing in our developers (although i can't code well enough to support them ) and i'm sure they'll do some magic
greets, Summoner
Do you really use wikipedia for truths? Anyone can add to Wiki?!
no i don't... i just think it sounds possible... otherwise, there would be two future development lines which the consequence would be that there were VERY different features depending where more / the better devs work on lol^^
i didn't claim it was the absolute truth, otherwise i wouldn't have explicitly said it came from wiki ...
greets Summoner
